Manchester United kept their season alive with an impressive display against Athletic Club that has given them a three goal lead to protect in the second leg of the Europa League semi final this coming Thursday.

Ruben Amorim’s men are expected to progress to the showpiece occasion and are on course to meet Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Ange Postecoglou’s side take a two goal advantage to Norway and are favourites to get past the competition’s surprise package Bodo/Glimt to secure their ticket to Bilbao.

Both teams have suffered domestically this season, leaving them desperate for European glory to save wretched league campaigns.

Should both teams make it, preparations will be key and United appeared to hold an early advantage with their Premier League fixture prior to final scheduled for Friday 16th May with the final on the 21st.

Spurs were set to face Aston Villa on Sunday 18th, which would have given United over 48 hours more time to get set for the crunch game.

However, as reported by BBC Sport, the Premier League have announced Tottenham will now play Villa on the same day United welcome Chelsea, wiping out the extra prep time.

It was always unlikely that United or Spurs will field strong teams with the final on the horizon but both managers now have the same opportunity to fine tune their respective squads.

However, there is still a job to do for the Premier League duo with both Athletic Club and Bodo/Glimt harboring dreams of historic comebacks to pinch a pass to the final.

United have home advantage on Thursday night and would need a monumental collapse to give up their lead that they could have added to in the first leg.

Casemiro’s header and Bruno Fernandes double all came in the first half last week and with the Basque side down to ten men, United could have came back to Manchester with more than three.

Amorim’s side have been susceptible to giving up goals this season but will surely have enough about them to see off the La Liga side who are the lowest scorers in the top seven of Spain’s top flight.

A mouthwatering final awaits if both sides keep their head this week and Amorim will be desperate to end his first season at United with a trophy which will transform the confidence in his side and grant them a place in next years coveted Champions League.

Manchester United took a huge step toward the Europa League final with an impressive 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao in Spain, last night (Thursday).

Ruben Amorim’s men dismantled the La Liga side with three unanswered first half goals that ensured they will go back to Old Trafford with a huge lead to protect and firmly in the box seat to return to the Basque country for the final.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur also enjoyed a successful evening, beating Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt by three goals to one, putting them on a collision course with United for the showpiece occasion.

A mouth-watering English final now beckons should both sides avoid disaster in their respective second legs.

As reported by The Mirror, mind games could well be setting in even at this early stage with both sides desperate for the trophy after similarly wretched league campaigns.

Preparations for the clash will be crucial with both sides suffering from lengthy, high profile injuries throughout the season.

Should both the Premier League sides make it, United could hold a slight advantage over their North London rivals given the time between their penultimate league fixture and the May 21 final.

United face Chelsea on Friday May 16 which was brought forward due to the Women’s FA Cup final between the same clubs on Sunday, May 18.

Tottenham, on the other hand, face Champions League chasing Aston Villa on the Sunday at 14:15, giving them 42 hours less rest and preparation time than Amorim’s men.

However, due to the league positions of the pair, it would be a surprise to see either Amorim or Ange Postecoglou name their strongest sides with little to left to play for domestically.

After the whistle in Bilbao, Amorim hinted he will be rotating his squad in this weekends trip to Brentford with the second leg looming next week and the same will be expected should United finish the job.

Postecoglou will surely be doing likewise which should negate the advantage United appear to hold in this case.

Having said that, both clubs still have work to do with Amorim staunchly admitting United’s semi final is still not done despite the healthy lead and home advantage in the second leg.

Spurs also also famed to make things hard for themselves and a trip to Norway on the home sides artificial surface will bring its own challenges as it has done for Roma and Lazio amongst others this season.

Tottenham Hotspur looking to sign Marcus Rashford in the summer if Aston Villa fail to trigger buy option - The Peoples Person
Description

Marcus Rashford seems to have re-found his mojo since his January loan move to Aston Villa with the Manchester United loanee managing three goals and six assists from 16 appearances in all competitions.

The Mancunian had struggled for gametime under Ruben Amorim with the head coach far from happy with his application in training. This led to the Englishman giving an interview in which he claimed he wanted to leave his boyhood club.

There was no way back for the Carrington graduate after this and he ended up linking up with Unai Emery at Villa. The Birmingham-based outfit even have the option of making his loan move permanent for £40 million.

Despite having his new boss’ trust and making a comeback into the England national team, the 27-year-old remains keen to move out of Villa with Barcelona seen as his dream destination.

Rashford could leave Villa

However, the Catalan giants have financial troubles of their own and had failed to make a move in January and it remains to be seen if they can satisfy United’s demands while paying the England international his humongous wages.

There is no way back for the Englishman at United with INEOS keen to sell him to raise funds for Amorim to utilise during the summer window.

This could potentially allow other teams to try and hijack the deal and as per Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur could use this opportunity to enter the race.

They have earmarked Rashford as Heung-min Son’s successor and want to try their luck should Villa opt against signing him permanently.

Spurs want Rashford

“Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Marcus Rashford this summer if Aston Villa decide against purchasing him on a permanent deal, FootballTransfers understands.

“The England international is expected to leave Manchester United during the upcoming summer transfer window and we have been told that Spurs are eyeing a potential deal as they look to sign a replacement for Heung-min Son.”

Interestingly, Spurs were interested in a January deal as well but opted to pursue a loan deal for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel instead.

United will have no problems with the interest Rashford is generating and a bidding war will suit them just fine given the versatile attacker’s homegrown status which means his fee will count as pure profit.

Jadon Sancho’s goal and assist drought continue in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur - The Peoples Person

Jadon Sancho continued his poor form for Chelsea in the club’s vital 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

The England international has hit the headlines recently as the Blues were rumoured to be having doubts about signing the United winger at the end of the season due to his poor form.

Chelsea have an obligation to buy the player in the summer but it was reported that they could exit the deal by paying United compensation of £5 million.

Nonetheless, it appears that the club will buy him but they could also look to immediately sell him as Borussia Dortmund appear interested in his services once more.

Sancho played 68 minutes in Chelsea’s match yesterday and failed to score or assist for the 14th consecutive game.

He did complete 23 of his 26 passes and had 38 touches of the ball.

Sancho was involved in two major instances in the first half. He ran at the Spurs’ defence and played in Cole Palmer who fired the ball across goal in what almost ended up as a goal for the blues.

The winger also missed a golden chance to break his duck. He controlled a deep ball into the box and got a shot off quickly but it was well tipped away by Guglielmo Vicario.

He failed to complete any of his crossing attempts and was unsuccessful in his two dribbling attempts as he struggled to break down the Tottenham defence.

The 25 year old was also poor defensively as he only won one out of his six ground duels for a percentage of 17% and 0% of his aerial duels.

He also lost the ball nine times in the game.

Sancho will hope to have another chance from the start to break his goal and assist drought when Chelsea travel to face Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Man United and Tottenham Hotspur lock horns over signature of lethal OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand - The Peoples Person
Description

OGC Nice attacker Evann Guessand is reportedly at the center of a fierce transfer battle between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s well-known that United are on the hunt for a new and reliable striker as the summer transfer window nears. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to consistently come up with the goods in front of goal this season and Ruben Amorim is in dire need of a top-class talisman to lead the line for his side.

United continue to be linked to several goalscorers, including Victor Osimhen (currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli), Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP), Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig), Jonathan David (Lille) and Victor Boniface (Bayer Leverkusen), just to mention a few names.

Now, Stretty News has revealed that Nice’s Guessand is another forward on United’s radar.

Following his breakthrough under Francesco Farioli last season, Guessand is enjoying another superb campaign with Nice.

The Ivory Coast international has plundered an impressive 11 goals and provided an additional seven assists in 27 Ligue 1 games. He has scored 12 and assisted eight times in 36 appearances across all competitions.

An excellent ball dribbler, Guessand is versatile and can also play on either wing or even behind the striker. He is a hard worker and is quick, which enables him to make sharp movements and get past defenders.

According to Stretty News, “Man United have been keeping a close eye on the player. The club’s scouts have been impressed by the player’s physical strength, his technical skills and his eye for goal.”

“However, the Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League side that is Guessand’s heels, as West Ham are also mentioned as a possible destination, and above all, Spurs, who are also seeking attacking reinforcement.”

The news outlet notes that the 23-year-old has yet to make a final decision on his future. However, Nice will find it very difficult to keep him beyond the summer transfer window.

The Ajaccio-born star is expected to cost anywhere between €35m and €40m.

Guessand’s current contract with Nice expires in 2028.

Tyler Dibling: Man City and Tottenham Hotspur surge ahead of Man United in race for Southampton star - The Peoples Person
Description

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly more advanced in their pursuit of Southampton star and Manchester United target Tyler Dibling.

United are still poised to sign a new right-sided attacking player despite missing out on a widely expected deal for Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda, who will join Chelsea in the summer of 2026.

Dibling is enjoying an impressive breakthrough season, despite Southampton struggling, sitting bottom of the table. The 19-year-old has made 30 appearances for Southampton, including 25 in the Premier League. He has managed four goals and provided an additional two assists in that period.

With Southampton on the verge of relegation and the player entering the final year of his contract, a summer exit seems highly likely.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have already held talks over a possible transfer.

But, the Red Devils are not the only ones chasing him. He has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

Now, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has given an update on Dibling’s situation.

Plettenberg wrote on X, “Understand Manchester City and Tottenham are currently the two Premier League clubs showing the most concrete interest in Tyler Dibling.”

“From the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig are still pushing for the 19-year-old top talent – and they have a chance.”

“Max Eberl and Christoph Freund hold a very positive opinion of Dibling and are also keeping an eye on him. However, FC Bayern have yet to make contact with the player’s camp.”

It’s clear why some of Europe’s top clubs are chasing Dibling. The England youth international primarily operates as a central midfielder but is also comfortable on the right of the attack – versatility that would allow him to fit seamlessly into either the No. 10 or wing-back roles in Amorim’s system.

He is an excellent ball handler who excels at creating chances for his teammates. His passing ability stands out, whether making quick, sharp passes to break down defences or delivering precise long balls to shift the direction of play.

Dibling has shown some inconsistency, but that’s understandable for a player his age. His talent, however, is undeniable.

Tottenham Hotspur looking to beat Manchester United to signing of Franco Mastantuono - The Peoples Person
Description

Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly win the race for Franco Mastantuono due to Manchester United’s lack of decisiveness.

Ineos are heading into another challenging summer transfer window at Old Trafford amid uncertainty over United’s budget and recruitment plans.

Due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, Ruben Amorim is unlikely to be handed a massive transfer war chest and he could face more challenges if the Red Devils fail to secure European qualification for next season.

Chelsea appear to be in a better position than United as they have stunned many by swiftly agreeing a deal to sign Amorim’s alleged key target, Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP. Now, Tottenham are trying to beat the Mancunian giants to a highly-rated attacker.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Spurs have entered discussions over a move for Mastantuono.

Compared to Phil Foden because of his technical prowess, the River Plate star has emerged as one of Argentina’s most exciting young talents, sparking interest from several clubs, including United.

However, Spurs have been “handed a significant boost” in their bid to land the Argentine as United have decided to prioritise signing alternative targets.

It is claimed that the Lilywhites’s hopes of signing the 17-year-old have increased as United remain unconvinced “over the pace of his development in comparison to alternative targets.”

The exciting attacking midfielder’s contract includes a release clause worth in the region of £38million but it is suggested that United’s financial limitations could also open the doors for Spurs to seal a deal for Mastantuono.

Despite the worrying development, United will reportedly continue to monitor the Argentina U20 international as the player is admired by key decision-makers at the club.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have revised their transfer plans after missing out on Quenda and are no longer determined to sign a right-sided wing-back.

As we inch closer to the end of the season, the club’s hierarchy need to pinpoint key targets and enter the market with a certain plan if they intend to hand Amorim his preferred signings.

Manchester United ready to make significant offer to sign Heung-min Son - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son, as per reports.

United forwards Marcus Rashford and Antony are showing their attacking talents elsewhere. Ruben Amorim, meanwhile, is having to deploy midfielders in attacking areas.

The Red Devils avoided another embarrassing defeat in the Premier League as second-half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte helped them share points with Everton, who sit a place above the Mancunian giants in the Premier League table.

How the 15th-placed United will finish the season remains unclear but if INEOS want Amorim to succeed in the long run, they need to strengthen his attack. A report in Spain has mentioned an intriguing name in that regard.

Manchester United want to sign Son Heung-Min

According to Fichajes, United are “going all out” to sign Son from Tottenham.

He will enter the final year of his contract at Spurs at the end of the term. However, the Spanish outlet suggest he could depart north London in the coming months.

United want to add a proven goalscorer to their ranks and see the Spurs captain as an ideal fit.

Son is known for his incredible pace and decisiveness in the final third, having scored an incredible 172 goals for the Lilywhites after moving to the Premier League from Bayer Leverkusen.

It is understood that United would be willing to make a “significant offer” to convince Spurs to part ways with their talisman, who is into double figures for goals and assists this season.

The 32-year-old’s profile is similar to Rashford, as both left-wingers like to use the space behind the defence to make a difference.

However, we are skeptical that Daniel Levy would let Spurs’ most important attacker join United. Further, INEOS have so far shown a desire to sign young players capable of adding intensity to Amorim’s side.

Recently, the Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United could trigger Wolverhampton Wanderers superstar Matheus Cunha’s (25) release clause to reinforce their attack.

Man United co-owners INEOS in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to end lucrative sponsorship agreement - Man United News And Transfer News

Description

Manchester United’s co-owners INEOS are reportedly in negotiations with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur over the termination of their sponsorship agreement.

Since completing a partial investment in United a year ago, INEOS have implemented a number of measures aimed at cutting operational costs designed to ensure the business runs as a leaner unit.

Last week New Zealand Rugby confirmed they were taking legal action against Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS firm after they prematurely exited a £3.7 million-a-year sponsorship deal which is not due to end until 2027.

In response, INEOS issued a statement, blaming the “deindustrialisation of Europe” as one of the reasons behind their decision to end the partnership with the All Blacks.

The petrochemicals company also ended a partnership with Sir Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup team. Additionally, there have been suggestions that there is a chance INEOS will part ways with Mercedes’ Formula 1 team in the near future.

According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, INEOS is reportedly moving forward with plans to reduce its involvement in multiple sports and is currently in discussions with Tottenham to terminate their sponsorship agreement.

It’s understood that talks – which have been described as amicable – are already underway.

The deal was signed in 2022 and was set to run for five years, until 2022. INEOS are the official 4 x 4 partner of Tottenham via their Grenadier vehicle.

The organisation’s logo featured prominently at Tottenham’s stadium during matches, including when the Red Devils lost 1-0 in North London on Sunday.

Keegan notes that the agreement between the two parties runs to “several millions per season.”

It recently emerged that INEOS are planning further redundancies at United in a bid to free up more cash for Amorim to spend on bolstering his squad.

United are back in action on Saturday when they face Everton at Goodison Park. Kick-off is at 12:30 GMT.

Chido Obi breaks his silence after making his Manchester United debut against Tottenham Hotspur - Man United News And Transfer News

Description

Another week, another loss in the Premier League for Manchester United with Ruben Amorim’s side going down by a solitary goal to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

This was the Red Devils’ 12th league defeat of the campaign, the most number of losses at this stage of the competition since the 1973/74 campaign in which they got relegated.

Most of the big names struggled once again with Andre Onana once again culpable for the goal while Casemiro, handed a rare start due to the injuries in midfield, struggled to deal with the pace of the game.

With Rasmus Hojlund’s goal drought extending to 15 games now, it seemed like the Portuguese tactician would turn to his youthful bench in order to try and grab something from the game.

Chido Obi debut

Instead, Amorim failed to trust the youngsters and only threw on academy sensation Chido Obi in added time with the 17-year-old hardly having any time to affect proceedings.

His league debut was the only silver lining in what was yet another disappointing day for the club with the Dane becoming the 252nd academy graduate to make his first-team debut.

In the process, Chido Obi (17 years, 2 months, and 18 days old) also became United’s third youngest Premier League debutant behind Angel Gomes (16y, 8m, 20d) and Shola Shoretire (17y, 19d).

After the game, the former Arsenal starlet headed to Instagram to send a message to the club’s supporters in which he thanked Amorim for handing him his debut for the club.

Message to Amorim

“Disappointed with the loss, on a personal note thanks to the gaffer & the club for making a dream come true for me and my family,” he wrote.

It was only a matter of time before Amorim turned to him given the struggles of Hojlund up front. The Denmark youth international has been on fire for the academy, netting 12 goals in as many games including seven strikes in three FA Youth Cup games.

His most recent appearance in the FA Youth Cup saw him net a hat-trick against Chelsea and his exploits had seen fans clamouring for the coach to give him minutes to address the team’s lack of goals.

Amorim did praise the youngster after the game, claiming he can be dangerous in the box and hopefully, he will place more trust in him moving forwards.
