Viktor Gyokeres is in no rush to leave Sporting for the Premier League in January, talkSPORT understands.

Gyokeres is attracting interest from some of England’s biggest clubs after banging in 24 goals in 21 games this season, including a hat-trick against Manchester City.

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim would be keen for the Swede to follow him from Lisbon to Old Trafford, but United would struggle to meet Sporting’s asking price, believed to be in the region of £80m.

Champions City have also been credited with an interest, although their priorities are likely to be on strengthening other areas of the squad unless there is a risk of losing Erling Haaland.

Arsenal are another potential option for Gyokeres, but he is happy to see out the season in Portugal and assess his options in the summer.

Former clubs Coventry and Brighton both stand to cash in when Gyokeres is sold due to having sell-on clauses on the 26-year-old.

Risky Romero business

Tottenham risk losing defender Cristian Romero if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Romero will be out of contract in 2027 and Spurs are keen to tie the Argentine international down to a new deal.

However, talkSPORT understands Romero, who turns 27 early next year, is keen to test himself against Europe’s elite after playing just a handful of Champions League games.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are known admirers of Romero, whose partnership with Micky van de Ven is central to Ange Postecoglou’s blueprint to lead Spurs into the top four.

Walk it on back

Sheffield United are interested in re-signing Manchester City defender Kyle Walker – 15 years after he left his hometown club.

Walker is one of the players City will consider moving on at the end of the season in a bid to regenerate an ageing squad.

The England right-back is expected to receive lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and the MLS but has made no secret of the fact he would like to see out his career back at Bramall Lane.

With the Blades currently riding high at the top of the Championship, that dream could become a reality.

Walker was part of the United team that reached the 2009 play-off final before being sold to Tottenham in 2009 and has been with City since 2017, winning six Premier League titles.

A Fleeting romance

Everton are back on the trail of highly-rated Fleetwood goalkeeper David Harrington.

Former Republic of Ireland under-21 international Harrington recently pledged his allegiances to Wales and was called up by Craig Bellamy for last month’s crunch Nations League double-header with Turkey and Iceland.

Everton were keen to sign Harrington from Irish side Cork City before he joined League Two Fleetwood and have continued to monitor his progress.

Harrington has made 16 appearances for Charlie Adam’s men this season.

Not many players can say they have won the Champions League five times and played under two of football's most prolific managers, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.

One of them is Gareth Bale, who despite all his accolades and time under managerial greatest, has not named Mourinho or Ancelotti his favourite manager.

During a quick-fire style interview with Rio Ferdinand, shared on X by TNT Sports, Bale was asked who was the manager he played under and why.

Bale replied: “There’s probably a personal answer for me which would be Chris Coleman.

“Because we had such a great relationship. We qualified for a major tournament for the first time in 58 years.

“I felt like I was the focal point of the team and yeah what we achieved was incredible, so for me, it was Chris Coleman.”

This answer may come as a surprise but many will know how much of a proud Welshman Bale truly is.

His numerous achievements with the likes of Real Madrid famously never topped his love for the Dragons.

Coleman was appointed Wales manager in 2012 and guided them to their best-ever position on the FIFA World Rankings, 8th, in 2015.

That same year, their qualification for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament was confirmed, a first tournament qualification since 1958.

The team came first in their group in France and eliminated Northern Ireland and Belgium to reach the semi-finals, losing to eventual champions Portugal.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti signed Bale from Tottenham for what was then a world record fee of £86 million in 2013.

During Bale’s first two seasons at the club, he scored 39 goals in 92 games across all competitions.

In an interview with Sky Sports in 2021, Bale was asked about Ancelotti returning to Real Madrid for a second spell as manager.

He said: “I know Carlo Ancelotti is a great manager. I get on with him well, we had some great times in the past.

“He's returned to Real Madrid and he's a great guy.

"We had a great time together at Real Madrid and I'm sure he's going to be amazing in charge there.”

Bale and Mourniho's paths crossed when the 35-year-old returned to Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan from Real Madrid, having spent 6 years at the club previously, in 2020.

He came off the bench to score the winner in Tottenham's 2–1 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion in November, his first goal since returning to the club.

After the game, Mourinho was full of praise for Bale and even aimed a cheeky dig at Real Madrid.

Mourinho said: "I am pleased for him because he deserved that. When I have five minutes I am going to Safari to look at Madrid's website to see what they say.

"He knows we care about him and we know he cares about us, the team and the club, Spurs. He's the perfect fit, he's very calm, very intelligent, he has good feelings."

Bale also scored his 200th career goal during this time back at Spurs, during a 3–3 draw against LASK in the Europa League.

In January 2023, Bale announced he would be retiring from professional football.

Having played under numerous top managers during his career, it’s clear his love for Wales will always come out on top.

Tamworth fans were unsurprisingly delighted when their club were drawn against Tottenham in the FA Cup.

The National League side, who are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, will host the Premier League giants next month.

First and second round wins over Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion respectively have rewarded them with a standout tie.

Tamworth could generate a huge amount of income if the match at The Lamb Ground is selected for television broadcast.

As the club awaited a dream FA Cup draw, one that became a reality, they decided to set up a camera and film their fans' live reaction.

When their ball number 53 was read out by Mark Hughes there were huge cheers upon the realisation that Tamworth would be at home.

The anticipation built as they awaited the name of their visitors, with Dion Dublin then revealing that it will be Spurs.

Tamworth fans' celebrations then turned up a notch once it was confirmed that they will in fact welcome Premier League opposition.

Supporters of all ages jumped, cheered and clapped before many started to chant: "Tottenham get battered, everywhere they go!"

Monday night's draw was conducted at Old Trafford, the home of the reigning FA Cup champions Manchester United.

Tamworth boss Andy Peaks, who spoke to talkSPORT beforehand, was in attendance and offered a hilarious reaction once he saw who his side will come up against.

Peaks smirked when the Lambs were drawn first, although could only help but laugh and wince when Spurs were the next team to be read out.

After the draw, talkSPORT spoke to Tamworth assistant manager Neil Champelovier for his reaction to their monumental tie.

"Absolutely unbelievable," Champelovier, whose works as a PE teacher, told Kick Off.

"I was just literally on social media just before you gave us the call, and the scenes in the clubhouse, it's only small but the scenes in there were absolutely unbelievable.

"To get a home draw against one of the big six, we said we'd want one of the big six, whether it's an away day for the experience or to get them back to The Lamb for the fans and for the town itself.

"That's what we wanted and that's what we've been given, you couldn't have asked for much of a bigger game."

Champelovier was then asked what Spurs players, who are used to a state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, can expect to see at Tamworth's home stadium The Lamb Ground.

"Well, firstly they can expected a portacabin for a changing room, with no heating in there either.

"Artificial pitch, a little bit of a slope, so the kind of things that we try to use to our advantage at times, especially in the league when we get the big teams coming to The Lamb.

"It's not particularly a nice place to come for away fans so yeah, it's not going to be a nice place."

Tamworth will play Spurs between January 9 and 13 and hope to pull off one of the biggest upsets in FA Cup history.

Tom Cairney rescued a point for Fulham at Tottenham before being sent off for a horror tackle on Dejan Kulusevski.

The Cottagers skipper had an eventful 20-minute cameo off the bench as Marco Silva's side escaped with a 1-1 draw in north London.

Cairney was introduced off the bench in the 62nd minute with Fulham trailing following Brennan Johnson's opener.

And just five minutes later, he hauled the visitors level with a beautiful curling strike into the bottom right corner.

It was his first goal away from home since March 2010 during his time spell at Hull.

But he soon went from hero to zero after being given his marching orders in the 82nd minute.

The 33-year-old was initially given a yellow card by referee Darren Bond for a challenge on Kulusevski.

But he was then instructed to go to the pitchside monitor by VAR where replays showed Cairney's studs-up lunge into the back of the Sweden international's calf.

And Bond was given no chance but to upgrade his initial booking to a straight red for serious foul play.

Commenting on the tackle on talkSPORT commentary, Sam Ellard simply said: "That could have broken his leg."

Meanwhile the Premier League Match Centre's X account posted: "The referee’s call of yellow card for the challenge by Cairney on Kulusevski is checked by VAR, who recommended an on-field review for serious foul play.

"The referee then issued a red card to Cairney."

Cairney will now miss the next three games for Fulham.

He will now be absent for Thursday's clash with Brighton at Craven Cottage.

And he will then be unavailable for next Sunday's clash with Arsenal in west London and then the trip to Liverpool on December 14.

Thankfully for Fulham, Spurs didn't make them pay for having a man less as they shared the spoil at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The result leaves Spurs in seventh spot - three points off the top four.

As for Fulham, they remain in tenth spot - just one point behind Ange Postecoglou's men.

Dominic Solanke was not part of the Tottenham squad against Fulham on Sunday afternoon after being sent home.

The striker, who would have expected to start, arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the game.

However, when the teams were announced, Solanke wasn't part of the starting line-up or substitutes.

That raised concerns over a possible injury to the Spurs star, but Ange Postecoglou has revealed the real reason...

Is Solanke injured?

No, Solanke is not injured.

He was sent home from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Tottenham faced Fulham.

But it was not due to an injury; it was because he was suffering from illness.

Postecoglou confirmed before kick-off: "He came in today and he wasn't the best, under the weather.

"We sent him home, and hopefully, he'll make a full recovery and be ready to go for the next one."

That next game is a trip to his former club Bournemouth on Thursday night.

So with Solanke ruled out just before the game, Tottenham had to shuffle and it was Heung-min Son leading the line.

He started centrally, with Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner out wide in the front three.

But they struggled in front of goal in the first half, being unable to break the deadlock and only having five shots.

Johnson eventually broke the deadlock early in the second half to give his side the lead, however, Tom Cairney levelled for Fulham and the game ended 1-1.

Losing Solanke for another game would be a big blow for Spurs as he's been an ever-present since joining.

So far this season, he's scored four and assisted two in 10 Premier League games.

Although his role is not just about scoring, as he plays such a big part in build-up throughout each match.

As mentioned, next up for Tottenham is Bournemouth who Solanke will be desperate to feature against.

He left the Cherries in the summer for £65million after spending five years and making over 200 appearances for the club.

Postecoglou is likely to give another update on Solanke's condition before the game, but he's hopeful that his striker will have recovered in time.

Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley sensationally scored a last-minute equaliser to help send Leyton Orient into the FA Cup third round.

The 21-year-old signed on loan for the League One outfit from Spurs in the summer in a bid to gain more first-team minutes in senior football.

Keeley was named in the Orient starting XI for the visit of National League side Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup second round.

Emmanuel Monthe scored early in the second half past Keeley for the Latics and it looked as though it would be enough for them to secure the win.

However, Orient were able to level in the ninth minute of stoppage-time on Saturday thanks to their unlikely goalscorer.

A free-kick delivered into the area by Thomas James was met by goalkeeper Keeley, who glanced a header into the back of the net.

Unsurprisingly, it was the shot-stopper's first ever goal in his senior career and he celebrated it by pulling off a knee slide in front of his fans.

Keeley is yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham but fans have loved what they've seen in another magical FA Cup moment.

Taking to X, one said: "Josh Keeley just scored the equaliser what a boy get him recalled now."

"Josh Keeley banging in a 100th minute equaliser for Orient! Good lad," added a second.

A third said: "Wow what a header as well, hopefully he can do that for us one day lol."

"Josh Keeley equaliser for Orient. Proper striker's header from the keeper," a fourth added.

With the score 1-1 at full-time, extra-time was needed to decide the result and it was Orient who left it late once again.

Dan Agyei scored with just moments remaining before a penalty shootout to send his team into the hat for the next round.

Keeley joined Spurs from Irish side St Patrick's Athletic in 2022 and made 21 appearances for their U21 side in his first season.

The Irishman spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Barnet, featuring 18 times for the National League club.

A move to Orient has offered him the chance to play in the English football league for the first time and even get onto the scoresheet.

Keeley's heroics handed his side a lifeline as they eye a spot in the third round of the FA Cup.

Ange Postecoglou reinforced the importance of prioritising entertaining football following Tottenham’s pulsating 2-2 draw with Roma.

The north London side were denied at the death when Mats Hummels snatched an equaliser for Claudio Ranieri’s men.

Goals from Heung-min Son and Brennan Johnson had cancelled out Evan Ndicka’s leveller for the visitors in arguably the most anticipated clash of this week’s Europa League fixtures.

The result leaves Spurs in ninth and one place outside of the automatic qualification spots for the round-of-16 stage.

Postecoglou expressed his frustration that his side were unable to see the game out after finding themselves in a commanding position.

In his post-match press conference, the Spurs boss was asked whether the remaining three games would see his side prioritising winning over style of play.

However, the Australian was unanimous in his response claiming that his philosophy will always include entertaining the fans.

“No,” Postecoglou said when asked if he would switch up his approach, leading to laughter from those present. “Why can’t it just be entertaining, mate?”

He continued: “Isn’t that why we all come? Would you really prefer us to sketch out a couple of 0-0 draws and a 1-0 win and we get through?

“I’d much rather we were exciting to watch and it’s edge of the seat stuff. Sometimes you don’t get the reward we could have tonight.

“I’d like to think when you tune in to us, you get entertained.”

With key games against Rangers, Hoffenheim and Elfsborg still to play, Postecoglou knows his side have their destiny in their own hands if they are to avoid February’s play-off round.

After a blistering start to their Europa League campaign with three-consecutive victories, Spurs have taken just one point from their two games against Galatasaray and Roma, conceding five goals in the process.

Tottenham’s swashbuckling style has made for entertaining viewing but defensive frailties are all-too often exposed.

With key games against Rangers, Hoffenheim and Elfsborg still to play, Postecoglou knows his side have their destiny in their own hands if they are to avoid February’s play-off round.

That said, former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp doesn’t see the club changing their style anytime soon due to the players at Postecoglou’s disposal.

“That's the type of player he's got in the team, they're not set up to defend," Redknapp told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“Full-backs love to go forward and the midfield is pretty open, that's how they play.

“They've had a couple of results where you certainly would have expected them to win, but they're still only a few points behind Arsenal and a couple behind Man City."

“They're going okay,” Redknapp added. “Last night's game was a difficult game. It's a league table where it's not do or die.

“There's always tomorrow, get a result in the next game or the game after. So I wouldn't take too much out of last night. The last game for me was obviously the Man City game. It was a fantastic performance.

“They can build on that at the weekend against Fulham, which won't be easy. Fulham, on their day, can give anybody a stiff test. But it'll be interesting. And don’t forget they lost to Ipswich.”

Rodrigo Bentancur will return to the Tottenham team for their Europa League showdown against Roma this week, live on talkSPORT 2.

The Uruguayan was sidelined for the thumping win over Manchester City on Saturday after being served with a seven-game ban.

The 27-year-old midfielder was handed a suspension and a £100,000 fine for using a racial slur about teammate Heung-min Son.

Bentancur made derogatory remarks on Uruguayan TV about South Koreans in a reply to a question about Spurs captain Son.

The north Londoners are hoping to have his ban reduced, but in the interim, the former Juventus star can face his old Serie A rivals.

Why is Bentancur allowed to play?

Bentancur's seven-game ban for a racist slur is domestic only, which permits him to continue playing in UEFA competition.

The Football Association had jurisdiction over Bentancur, as the interview had been conducted in his own time.

He hadn't yet been released by Tottenham for Copa America duty, which is the loophole that has spared Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez.

The outcome of Bentancur's appeal only applies to domestic games, with the player restricted to European action until Boxing Day.

An FA statement read: "An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a seven-match suspension and £100,000 fine on Rodrigo Bentancur for a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview.

"It was alleged that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder breached FA Rule E3.1 as he acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or brought the game into disrepute. It was further alleged that this constitutes an “aggravated breach”, which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it included a reference – whether express or implied – to nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin.

"Rodrigo Bentancur denied this charge, but the independent Regulatory Commission found it to be proven and imposed his sanctions following a hearing. Its written reasons for these decisions can be seen below."

Bentancur has already served the first of his seven-game domestic ban but still stands to miss several other key fixtures.

This includes a home EFL Cup quarter-final versus Manchester United - although Tottenham have already launched an appeal.

When asked whether that decision is a 'bad look', Ange Postecoglou said: "I'm not interested in looks and whatever people… I've said all along he's made a mistake, we accept whatever penalty comes his way, but we believe the first one was a little bit harsh.

"We've appealed against that which we believe is our right if you look at the whole process. If you look at it, it's already at the low end of the scale.

"I get that people want to burn people at the stake these days but part of the process, if you want real education and progress, is to understand when somebody makes a mistake. Part of that is education and hopefully seeing that's the way forward.

"Whether it is Rodrigo, or anyone else, as I've said, I am old enough to say I've made mistakes worse than that in life, mate, but I've learned from them and hopefully I am a better human being from that."

Guglielmo Vicario's injury absence could have huge implications on Tottenham's potential success this season.

The Italian underwent surgery on a fractured ankle he suffered during their 4-0 win against Manchester City on Saturday.

talkSPORT understands that Spurs fear Vicario could be out for months and they will consider signing a new goalkeeper in January.

Fraser Forster, who is 36 years old, is set to deputise in the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou navigates around a hectic festive period.

However, should Spurs be keen for a younger face in goal, then they may look closer to home and play academy graduate Alfie Whiteman.

Whiteman joined the north London side's youth setup and even led the team out with Robbie Keane as a mascot in 2007.

And 13 years later he made his senior debut under Jose Mourinho.

The 26-year-old's first and only appearance for the club came off the bench in a 4-0 Europa League win at home to Ludogrets.

He then had two spells at Swedish top flight side Degerfors IF in 2021 and 2022 but has not featured for any other team since.

Although Whiteman has played just eight minutes of football on the pitch for Spurs, he's certainly got an interesting life off it.

DJing is one of his passions, with the goalkeeper making his debut on the London-based radio station NTS Radio earlier this year.

Psychedelic rock and soul were just two of the genres in his hour-long debut, and he told Mixmag: "This was my first time doing a live show.

"Before this, I was just making mixes and playlists on my laptop and sharing them with friends."

Whiteman added: "I've always had a deep interest in listening to and discovering new music, so I was grateful for this opportunity."

His taste in music covers a wide range of artists and bands as, when asked by Spurs who he'd like to see live, he said: "I’d love to see Radiohead, I think they’d be great.

"But if I could choose anyone at all, I’d probably say Al Green. There are loads, it’s a long list and people like Nina Simone and Miles Davis at the height of the jazz scene would have been incredible.

"And I would rather have seen them perform at a small intimate club than a big venue."

Whiteman extended his love of music to the younger community in March by visiting Project 2020 in Northumberland Park.

The Haringey Council scheme offers a safe space and activities for 11 to 19-year-olds, with the Spurs man performing an unscripted DJ set.

Away from the decks, Whiteman is also keen to appear with and in front of the camera with his photography and modelling.

Featured on his personal Instagram page are a series of snaps of talent, as well as pictures of his parents on their wedding day.

Whiteman is also represented by London-based modelling agency Storm Management, who have showcased his poses on Instagram.

In August 2021, aged 22, he signed for Degerfors for the first time and made 13 appearances towards the end of their campaign.

A return to the club was sealed in February the following year and he played another 21 matches, with Whiteman opting for a different style of accommodation.

"I was living in a very small town, 20,000 people, so it was quite a stark change to London," he told Spurs' Off The Shelf podcast.

"I've grown up in London, in the city. Like Sweden, my mum is half-Finnish so I've been to Finland, Sweden had similarities and it's beautiful, the forests, the lakes and everything.

"I was there all alone and no one could visit because of travel restrictions from COVID and I was like, 'I'll make the most of this situation'.

"I went on Airbnb and found this cabin near the training ground. It had a sauna, the water would come from the lake and it had a jetty to the lake, the toilet was like a hole, and it was really good.

"I would make a fire and sit outside, and the winter came and it got really tricky, it gets really cold in Sweden. Then I went back, so I did one stint because their seasons are different, they do it throughout the year.

"So I did half a season, came back in January, managers have changed, a new manager, came back, I was like, 'I'm going to go back on loan, go do a whole season.'

"Went back to Sweden for a second time because the first time I went to that cabin twice but it was winter, the second time is when I committed.

"My teammates were like, 'Are we going to find out that there's going to be a documentary and you have to cover all these bodies they found?' I was like, 'No, no!' But it was great, it was a new experience."

Whiteman hasn't been named in any of Spurs' squads this season but could be given the nod by Postecoglou whilst Vicario is out.

They face Roma, live on talkSPORT 2 on Thursday, and Rangers in the Europa League before the end of the year amongst various Premier League clashes.

Fulham, Newcastle and Liverpool are just some of the tests to come, as well as huge home fixture against rivals Chelsea.

A Carabao Cup quarter-final tie with Manchester United is also on the agenda as Spurs brace themselves for numerous tough matchups.

The experienced Foster may well be the starting goalkeeper during this time, but Whiteman could have a chance of playing himself as he rivals Brandon Austin for the No.2 spot.

Chelsea are considering a summer swoop to re-sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Guehi came through the academy ranks at Chelsea before completing an £18million move to Palace in the summer of 2021 having found first-team opportunities limited.

The England international is out of contract at the end of next season, which has alerted the Blues to the fact he could be available for a cut-price fee next summer.

Guehi is said to be in no rush to commit to a new deal at Selhurst Park in anticipation of interest from top six clubs in the summer.

The centre-back was wanted by Newcastle after starring for England at the Euros, but the Magpies could not agree a fee with Palace.

Foxes chief takes the reins

Leicester owner Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha will take more of a lead role in the club’s search for a new manager after being left unimpressed by the appointment of Steve Cooper.

As previously reported by talkSPORT, Top had reservations about hiring former Nottingham Forest boss Cooper right from the start of his tenure, but backed the judgement of long-serving director of football Jon Rudkin.

Top made the decision personally to fire Cooper in the wake of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Chelsea.

And, while not the deciding factor, sources have told talkSPORT he was unimpressed with the 44-year-old’s scathing post-match attack on referee Andrew Madley.

The Thai businessman, who consulted senior Leicester players before making his decision to axe Cooper, had Graham Potter top of his wish-list to replace Enzo Maresca last summer but could not get the deal over the line.

With Potter again ruling himself out, former Manchester United interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and West Brom’s Carlos Corberan are two of the leading candidates to succeed Cooper.

Once the new man is in place, Top also plans to have a major input in

recruitment when the January window opens, with funds expected to be made available to fund Leicester’s Premier League survival bid.

Cunha stance revealed amid red-hot streak

Wolves have promised manager Gary O’Neil they will NOT cash in on star man Matheus Cunha in January, according to talkSPORT sources.

Cunha has started the season in sparkling form, scoring seven goals and providing three assists, including a brilliant double in Saturday’s 4-1 demolition of Fulham to ease the pressure on O’Neil.

The Brazilian’s impressive displays have put him on the radar of clubs

including Manchester United and Tottenham, while he has also been scouted by several top European teams.

Wolves have become a selling club in recent transfer windows and allowed both Pedro Neto and Max Kilman to depart for Chelsea and West Ham respectively in the summer, leaving O’Neil shorthanded heading into a daunting set of early season fixtures.

But director of football Matt Hobbs is understood to have told O’Neil they do not plan to cash in on any more of their prized assets this winter.
