'What are you talking about?' - Simon Jordan pinpoints Ange Postecoglou tactic that ruins Tottenham 'maturity' claim

Description

Simon Jordan has criticised Ange Postecoglou for his approach at Tottenham.

The Spurs boss claimed his side 'lack some maturity and leadership' following their loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

His side are already back in action, though, as they host Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

The competition presents a chance for Postecoglou to end Spurs' 17-year wait for a trophy.

However, talkSPORT co-host Jordan has questioned the Australian's comments ahead of the match.

Speaking on White & Jordan, he explained: "Comparing Manchester City with Tottenham is a silly comparison because Man City are winning things and Tottenham aren't.

"When you're talking about Man City's priorities, they've won the Premier League for the last four years, they've won the Champions League in the last two seasons, they've won the League Cup God knows how many times, they've won the FA Cup - Tottenham have won nothing for 17 years.

"So when we're talking about comparisons about what Pep Guardiola would do, he's under a different set of challenges to Tottenham. Now you go to what Ange has said, I don't know what he's bloody talking about.

"I really like him, I really want him to be successful. When he talks about not making enough effort in a game and he hates the fact that people are going to keep, what are you talking about, Ange?

"You put a weakened side out against Fulham in the League Cup last year and you lost.

"You put Son on the bench, you put Maddison on the bench, you put Kulusevski on the bench, you play the second string team for reasons that are your own and you are perfectly entitled to.

"That's not people accusing you of a lack of effort, that's people suggesting that you're applying a different protocol to that particular game.

"You could have gone to Fulham, you could have won that League Cup game and you could have progressed in the League Cup, however meaningless that might be to you."

Spurs were beaten on penalties in the second round by Fulham last season after a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.

Jordan continued: "So when Ange takes this brusque style, which in parts I like, because he wants to separate himself, I like the fact that he objected strongly to the notion that Tottenham fans wanted Tottenham to lose to Manchester City or beat Manchester City or whatever it was so that Arsenal couldn't win the league.

"They were more inclined to be worried about what Arsenal were doing than Spurs were doing.

"I like that and he was right to say that, he's a professional football manager, he couldn't give a monkeys what Arsenal were doing, he wants to win the games that are in front of him.

"But when he makes this particular observation, like he makes rod to his own back, he says things like I don't worry about set pieces, I've got more things to worry about than that.

"Then every time a set piece goes in and they can see the goal, the media are going to focus on the fact that he said that and hit him with that stick.

"Now he's going to talk about not making enough effort for games. and then you look at the line-up against Fulham last year and he's dropped his big hitters for that game.

"Now that's not a lack of effort for the guys that go in there, but Oliver Skipp and players of that nature don't occupy the same precedence as James Madison do they? Or Kulusevski or Son.

"So it's not about effort, it's about priorities. So I don't know what Ang is trying to deflect away from, do you want to win the League Cup?

“You're the one that said, not I'm going to win something, he's the one that said I normally win something in my second season, which we then interpreted to being... I always win something in my second season.

"So they might win the Europa League and they might win one of the cups. So here's one of the cups."

Why is Tottenham vs Man City kicking off at 8:15pm? Carabao Cup fourth round tie given bizarre start time

Description

Tottenham's Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City this week has been given an unusually late kick-off time of 8:15pm.

The fourth-round contest is set for Wednesday, but it will start after the other five ties that are taking place on the same night.

It is a repeat of the 2020/21 Carabao Cup final which saw Aymeric Laporte earn City a 1-0 win at Wembley.

Tottenham earned their spot in the fourth round of this term's Carabao Cup following a 2-1 victory over Coventry City in September.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola's side secured their place in the tie with a 2-1 home win over Watford.

They now meet aiming to book a spot in the quarter-finals, with kick-off set for a bizarre time...

Why is Tottenham vs Man City kicking off at 8:15pm?

Tottenham vs Man City will get going at 8:15pm.

That is half an hour after four other games on the same night and 45 minutes after Brighton vs Liverpool.

There has been no official reason revealed for the weird change, however, it is likely due to TV coverage.

All six fixtures on Wednesday night are going to be broadcast on Sky Sports, so kick-offs have been spread out.

This game is the latest of the six and will be shown on Sky Sports Main Event while the others are on Sky Sports + at 7:30pm and 7:45pm.

Having gaps between kick-offs will likely increase viewership and give fans time to switch between games.

talkSPORT will also have live coverage of the second half of the game.

From 9:15pm, Ian Danter and former England striker Dean Ashton will provide commentary from north London.

It will follow coverage of Brighton vs Liverpool which will be live on talkSPORT from 7:30pm.

To tune in to talkSPORT or talkSPORT 2 through the website, click HERE for the live stream.

You can also listen via the talkSPORT app, on DAB digital radio, through your smart speaker and on 1089 or 1053 AM.

The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw will follow the action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It is expected at around 10:30pm on Wednesday night.

Mark Chapman, Jamie Redknapp and Izzy Christiansen will draw the balls as part of Sky Sports' coverage of the game.

Harry Kane gives instant reaction to former Ballon d'Or winner lavishing him with unexpected praise during ceremony

Harry Kane has told talkSPORT how thrilled he is George Weah named him as his favourite player.

And he clearly grew a lot of love for Kane during the England’s captain’s time at Spurs.

Appearing as a special guest at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, Weah - who won the award after a stunning season with Paris Saint-Germain - said: “Yeah, that's one of my players that I love.

“I'm a fan of Mr Kane. When you were playing for my team, I'm a fan. I'm a very good fan because I believe that he's a very strong and very clever striker.

“I support the team... Tottenham, since I was a kid. I love him.”

Kane soon spoke to talkSPORT about Weah’s praise on the night.

“I know yeah!” he told White and Jordan host Jim White. “A pleasant surprise, yeah.”

Kane, who won the Gerd Muller Trophy with Kylian Mbappe, was ranked tenth in the list after an impressive campaign in Germany which saw him break a 60-year old Bundesliga record.

Ex-Bayern striker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge handed him his award, and he hailed Kane for his impact at the club, labelling him an ‘important player’.

The former Bayern goalscorer bagged 162 goals in 310 Bundesliga appearances and ranks as the club's second highest all-time scorer behind Muller.

Asked if the German was a hero of his, Kane said: “I mean, he’s a club legend, so it’s great to spend some time with him.

“For him to present the award was a fitting tribute to FC Bayern Munich.”

“It’s my first time here at these awards, so proud of the achievement,” he said, explaining how proud he was of his Ballon d'Or ranking. “A lot of hard work and sacrifice, but as always we keep going for the next one and see what happens.

“I’m loving Munich, it’s a great city, great club and looking forward to big things.”

Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri - who has been ruled out for the season with an Anterior cruciate ligament injury - was awarded the Ballon d’Or on Monday night.

He is the first player from a Premier League team to win the award since Cristiano Ronaldo did while at Manchester United in 2008.

“Congratulations to him, a fantastic player,” Kane said.

“He had a really good season. Wishing him a speedy recovery first and foremost. Hopefully he’s back playing at a high level as soon as possible.”

‘Make it make sense’ – Arsenal fans in uproar again as Spurs star escapes red over eerily similar foul to William Saliba

Arsenal fans vented their fury once more after Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven escaped a red card despite committing a foul as the last man.

Midway through the second half, Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta headed the ball into the path of Ismaila Sarr, who had to beat Van de Ven in a footrace to reach it.

Given Van de Ven clocked the fastest speed of any player in the Premier League this season, most would have backed the Dutchman to get to the ball first.

However, Sarr showed blistering pace to beat his rival to the ball and had the goal in his sights.

But just as Sarr looked to get away, Van de Ven brought him down from approximately 30 yards away to the goal.

Despite being the last man and with no defenders around him, VAR opted not to look further into Van de Ven's incident as he escaped with only a yellow card.

According to the FA's laws, referees have four criteria to consider when it comes to determining if a player has denied the opposition an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

Referees must assess the distance between the foul and the goal, the general direction of play, the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball as well as the location of the foul and number of defenders involved.

Although Tottenham still had 11 men on the pitch, it mattered little to the result as Palace secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory thanks to Mateta's strike in the 31st minute.

However, the result did not stop Arsenal fans weighing in on Van de Ven's foul given William Saliba was sent off for a strikingly similar incident against Bournemouth last Saturday.

Saliba initially copped a yellow card when he hauled down Cherries striker Evanilson in the centre circle but the foul was soon upgraded to a red by VAR.

It meant the French superstar was ruled out of Arsenal's crunch clash against Liverpool.

One fan wrote on X: "Make it make sense. William Saliba vs Micky Van de Ven. Inconsistency of decisions is embarrassing."

Another posted: "So Van de Ven just did what Saliba did last week and got a yellow."

One supporter said: "VAR changed Saliba's to red card and left Van de Ven as a yellow, which one was closer to goal?"

Van de Ven's contentious foul isn't the only one that had Arsenal fans in uproar this season.

Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo produced a similar foul to Saliba's during last weekend's 2-1 loss to Liverpool.

Adarabioyo was caught out by a long ball over the top intended for Liverpool star Diogo Jota.

As Jota looked to breeze past, Adarabioyo got into a tangle with the Reds forward and brought him down to the ground just beyond the halfway line.

Despite the Chelsea centre-back being the last man, he escaped with only a yellow card from referee John Brooks.

Is Crystal Palace vs Tottenham on TV this weekend? How to follow London derby after fixture time changed

Crystal Palace will meet Tottenham for a London derby this Sunday but fans are going to miss out on the action.

The Eagles are still waiting for their first win of the Premier League season and manager Oliver Glasner is under major pressure.

His side now face a tough task against London rivals Spurs who head into this game off the back of a convincing victory over West Ham.

It's certainly going to be a good battle but unless you're going to the game, you won't be able to watch any of the action...

Is Crystal Palace vs Tottenham on TV?

No, Palace vs Tottenham is not being shown on TV as it wasn't selected for broadcast.

Despite the game being played on a Sunday at 2pm, which is a prime spot for television, it's not been chosen.

This is due to the fixture having it's date changed a couple of months ago due to Tottenham playing in Europe this week.

Spurs beat AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night and so, they are unable to play on Saturday.

So the game against Palace was moved from a 3pm Saturday slot to 2pm Sunday to provide an extra days rest.

Confirming the fixture change, the club released a statement.

It read: "Lastly, our final league outing of the month at Crystal Palace has been moved to Sunday 27 October with a 2pm (UK) kick-off due to our participation in the UEFA Europa League the preceding Thursday (24 October)."

It's the same case for West Ham vs Manchester United as they are playing at 2pm but not on TV either.

That's due to United playing in the Europa League as well.

It means there are three 2pm games this Sunday and the one chosen for broadcast was Chelsea vs Newcastle.

So, if you're wanting update of the Crystal Palace vs Tottenham or West Ham vs Man United, tune in to talkSPORT!

We will keep you up to date with all the goals as they go in on the Sunday Session with Sam Matterface.

I played with Zinedine Zidane, Ledley King had one knee and was another level, but forgotten defender got the best out of me

Edgar Davids played alongside some of the finest players of his generation, but none could motivate better than one player.

The former Netherlands midfielder enjoyed a colourful career which took him from European giants Ajax and Juventus to England's Premier League and fifth-tier with Tottenham and Barnet.

At first club Ajax, between 1991 and 1996, he lined up alongside Dutch heroes Frank Rijkaard and Clarence Seedorf, as well as Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

Following this, his eight-year spell in Serie A during a golden era for Italian football in the late 1990s was just as star-studded.

Davids joined rivals Juventus in 1997, where he spent four years as a teammate of France icon Zinedine Zidane, as well as having a brief introduction to a young Thierry Henry.

Despite his time in close proximity to so many world-class players however, the Dutchman has singled out a lesser-known name for praise.

Appearing on The Line-Up on talkSPORT, the 1995 Champions League winner named former Uruguay international Paolo Montero as the teammate who helped get the best out of him.

Davids was pressed by Jim White on the best player he had played alongside, as he was asked which of them gave him a 'tingle'.

"The list is long. But I think that sometimes, the tingle you also get sometimes from an opponent.

“If you know that you have a game and you have to play Roy Keane or [Patrick] Vieira or Xabi Alonso or [Claude] Makelele, you’d better step up."

Discussing his old teammates, Davids said: “But from that point of view, I think for me the most important was Paolo Montero.

“Because he could really get the team going, get the tempo up and he really got me going.

“He got annoyed all the time during the play, but he got the best out of me in every in every game.”

Though not quite in the same category as Zidane or Bergkamp, Montero was widely considered one of the best defenders in his generation.

The tough-tackling Uruguayan won four Serie A titles in nine years at Juventus, three of which came alongside Davids, and now currently serves as head coach of his old club's reserve team.

And it isn't hard to believe that he was able to keep Davids on task, with Montero's fiery temper seeing him receive more red cards than any other player in Serie A history (16).

The 74-cap former Netherlands international also reserved special praise for another defender he once counted as a teammate.

Following spells at Barcelona and Inter Milan, Davids joined Tottenham in 2005, and revealed he was particularly impressed by Ledley King during his two years in north London.

Despite being plagued by persistent knee issues, King was regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League when fit, and made more than 300 appearances for Spurs.

Davids said of him: “Listen, I played with a lot of big players and this is the thing, because of his knees he couldn't have had longevity.

"He didn't train a lot, but this man could play, there was a different level. It was levels, levels."

The Dutchman added: “But also, he didn't need to tackle, he was there, and he was quick and [had good] positioning. And he could move, you know?"

That ability to read the game so well saw him live rent free in the heads of the best attackers around. "He is the only guy who doesn't hold players," Thierry Henry said. "He will get the ball off you without you even noticing. For me, that is a good defender.”

King was forced to retire in 2012 at the age of 31, but his name is still sung at White Hart Lane.

As for Davids, he also told talkSPORT he could have formed a midfield partnership with Roy Keane...

Tottenham will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday lunchtime against West Ham after their five match winning streak came to a disappointing end against Brighton a fortnight ago, in which Spurs gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

The defeat saw Ange Postecoglou's side drop back down the table in ninth place after an initially slow start to the season which saw them win just one of their opening four matches.

The north London side will be looking forward to being back at their home stadium for the first time this month having played three consecutive away games, with Spurs having won three of their four matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

⚽ Are you ready to play at the best football betting sites? ⚽

They take on a West Ham side who earned just their second league victory of the season in their last outing before the international break, which saw them beat newly promoted Ipswich 4-1 at the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui hasn't got off to the blistering start he'd have liked since taking over from David Moyes in the summer, with the Hammers having picked up eight points from their seven matches in the Premier League so far, winning just one of their last six matches in all competitions.

The side from east London make the trip to the north of the capital not having won any of their last three matches on the road, with three defeats in their last six outings, and just one win in their last six against Spurs.

West Ham will take confidence in their recent matches against Postecoglou's men though, having earned four points from their games with Spurs last season, including victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United predictions

From ecstasy to agony. Immediately prior to the international break, Tottenham Hotspur were cruising at half-time of their clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Spurs played some lovely football in those first 45 minutes at the Amex Stadium, when goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison gave them a 2-0 lead.

Yet the north Londoners left the south coast empty-handed. The concession of three goals in the second period left Ange Postecoglou bemoaning his “worst” defeat since joining Tottenham.

In the circumstances, the Australian would have loved to be able to send his team back out there a few days later in a bid to right those wrongs. Instead, the manager was left to stew for a fortnight as his players jetted off across the world for the October internationals.

It has been a mixed start to the season for Spurs, as the Premier League table indicates. They sit ninth heading into the weekend having won three and lost three of their first seven matches.

There have been some high points, most notably the 4-0 thrashing of Everton and the 3-0 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford. But Tottenham still look fragile and that could count against them in what looks set to be a hugely competitive race for the top four.

Postecoglou must take some of the blame for that. When Spurs are in full flow, they are a joy to watch. But opponents do not seem to mind facing them. Tottenham always give you a chance.

West Ham United will therefore head across the capital believing they can get something on Saturday. That is good news for the neutrals, who should be treated to an entertaining encounter as gameweek eight begins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United betting tips

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both looking to kick on after mixed starts to the season.

Tottenham to win and both teams to score

This might not be the fiercest rivalry in London, but there is certainly no love lost between Tottenham and West Ham. In fact, this is probably the Hammers’ principal grudge match in the Premier League.

Happily, their supporters have enjoyed some memorable days and nights against Spurs in recent years.

Indeed, in their last eight meetings between these adversaries, there have been three wins for West Ham and only two for Tottenham.

On this occasion, though, we expect Spurs to pull through. West Ham were much better in their last game before the international pause, a 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town, but they still lack cohesion under Julen Lopetegui.

With the attacking players they have to call upon, West Ham should be able to score against this open Tottenham team. Avoiding defeat will be more difficult.

⚽ Go for a Tottenham win and both teams to score at 8/5 with Parimatch ⚽

Over 3.5 goals

Tottenham’s seven games so far this season have featured 22 goals, while West Ham’s have contained 21.

That is less than an average of 3.5 per match for both teams, but there are reasons to back at least four strikes here.

Tottenham, for better or worse, give opposing sides a chance. As we saw against Brighton, there is no question of Postecoglou shutting up shop when his team are ahead.

As for West Ham, they lost their defensive solidity in David Moyes’ final season at the helm and Lopetegui has not yet been able to get it back.

The Hammers rank in the bottom half for expected goals against and a lowly 14th for shots conceded.

There should be chances galore in the early kick-off on Saturday.

⚽ Choose over 3.5 goals at 20/21 with Parimatch ⚽

Brennan Johnson to score any time

What a run Johnson is on.

In finding the back of the net against Brighton last time out, the Wales international became the first Tottenham player since Harry Kane to score in six consecutive matches.

It is fair to say that not many people saw this coming. Johnson had his moments last term following his move from Nottingham Forest, but he only scored five goals in all competitions - a tally he has already bettered in 2024/25.

Johnson has discovered a sense of calmness in front of goal. His movement is bright too, and he frequently gets into dangerous positions at the back post when the ball is on the opposite flank.

West Ham are still searching for the right defensive combinations. If there is any uncertainty in their backline at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Johnson can take full advantage.

⚽ Tip Brennan Johnson to score any time at 11/10 with Parimatch ⚽

Tottenham tell fans to stop singing song which references Mikel Arteta and Dominic Solanke

Description

Tottenham have warned fans that the singing of a homophobic chant which references Dominic Solanke and Mikel Arteta will be sanctioned.

The club circulated an email to season-ticket holders stating they will take 'a zero-tolerance approach' to any discriminatory chants or behaviour.

During Tottenham's 4-0 win over Man United at Old Trafford before the international break, groups of the away fans were heard singing a song.

The chant is aimed towards Solanke but it contains a homophobic slur directed at Arsenal manager Arteta.

And ahead of Spurs' fixture against West Ham on Saturday 19 October, fans have been warned in advance that any such chants will be punished.

"Dear Supporter," read the email. "We should firstly like to thank our fans for their cooperation following our previous communication on this matter ahead of the Brighton away fixture, at which there were no reports of homophobic chanting.

"Ahead of tomorrow's home fixture with West Ham United, we will not be complacent and are therefore reminding supporters that the Club takes a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination.

"Our stewards will once again be wearing body cams to identify any individuals involved in unacceptable chanting so that the Club can take the strongest possible action, in line with our Sanctions & Banning Policy.

"For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the Dominic Solanke chant with reference to Mikel Arteta and any use of the term 'Rent Boy' - which the Crown Prosecution Service considers a homophobic slur and hate crime.

"Stewards will identify those instigating and participating in any such chants – including those covering their mouths. Abuse and intimidation towards our stewards will not be tolerated either, with bans issued where necessary.

"We are justly proud of our superb and loyal support, home and away. However, we all have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of Tottenham Hotspur and discrimination of any kind has no place at our Club.

"We look forward to seeing our fans back at our home stadium, supporting the team in a manner that all our fans can enjoy and be a part of."

Immediately after the Man United match, Spurs had also released a statement strongly condemning the chants and promising consequences for those involved.

"The Club is aware of abhorrent homophobic chanting from sections of our away support at Old Trafford today," it read.

"This is simply unacceptable, hugely offensive and no way to show support for the team.

"The Club will be working closely with the Police and stewards to identify anyone instigating or joining in with the chanting - we shall take the strongest possible action in accordance with our Sanctions and Banning Policy.

It added: "We shall be continuing our work with our LGBTQ+ supporters’ association, Proud Lilywhites, to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans on matchdays.

"We are justly proud of our superb and loyal support, home and away. However, we all have a responsibility to act as ambassadors of Tottenham Hotspur and discrimination of any kind has no place at our Club."

Their message was echoed by Spurs' LGBTQI+ association, Proud LilyWhites who criticised certain fans for their action.

"Loved what happened on the pitch at Old Trafford; didn't love the homophobic chanting off the pitch," their statement read.

"Dom deserves better and as for the other one.

"We're all Spurs fans just like you. When you sing these songs you're telling us we don't belong; and we do-as much as you do."

The organisation Kick It Out, who fight against all forms of discrimination in football, reinforced the message.

They wrote on X: "Homophobia has no place in football."

'It's not the SPL' - Ange Postecoglou sent warning about Tottenham comments by ex-Arsenal man

Description

Ange Postecoglou may have insisted he usually wins silverware in his second season at clubs, but Jermaine Pennant is less convinced.

The Tottenham head coach, who guided his side to a fifth-place league finish after taking charge in June 2023, has been vocal about his trophy success in his second season with previous clubs.

In an interview with Sky Sports in August, Postecoglou said: "Usually in my second season I win things.

"That's the whole idea. First year is about establishing principles and creating a foundation. Hopefully the second year is going onto win things."

With Spurs without a trophy since 2008, the Australian faced scrutiny for his comments, but has since defended himself, later doubling down and insisting he 'always' lifts silverware in his second season.

Postecoglou has won the Australian title with both South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, and the Japanese league with Yokohama F Marinos, all of which came in his second full campaign in charge.

Prior to making the move to north London, he led Celtic to back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles during his two years in Glasgow.

But with Spurs sitting ninth in the Premier League table after seven games, talkSPORT's Jermaine Pennant believes that Postecoglou may have underestimated the task at hand.

Appearing on Kick Off, the former Arsenal player was asked about the 59-year-old's comments on his trophy success.

Pennant said: "Every second season he's won something, so he can say that.

“But he's got to understand that he's now in the Premier League. It's not the SPL. It's not the Aussie A-League.

“It's the Premier League. To win something here, you've got to be a good manager and have a good team. But like I said, he's done it. So he can say that."

And it isn't just Pennant who is unconvinced as to whether history will repeat itself for Postecoglou at his current club.

His last league game his side squander a 2-0 half-time lead to lose 3-2 to Brighton, and former Spurs star Aaron Lennon believes the result highlighted the tactical flaws holding them back.

Joining Paul Hawksbee and Charlie Baker on talkSPORT, Lennon was asked if he felt Tottenham could win titles under Postecoglou.

Pointing to the shortcomings of their all-out attacking style, the retired ex-winger replied: “I'm not so sure.

"Don't me wrong, I love Ange and I love the way they play. But I also think there's times in games that there's too many forward players on the pitch.

“You've got your full backs bombing on also, and I think you just get left exposed."

Lennon, who made over 250 Premier League appearances for Spurs, went on to suggest that Postecoglou's tactics place too much pressure on both his attacking and defensive players.

He said: "They've got a great back four, but if you're left with just [Cristian] Romero, [Micky] van de Ven and [Rodrigo] Bentancur sat in front, then teams are going to pick you off.

“And for me, there's in-game management at times.

"I'm looking at going: 'Maybe we need to put on two number sixes and just stiffen it up'. Like the Brighton game for example, it's 2-0."

“So every chance you get, you near enough have to take, you need to be near enough, 3-0 up. You’ve seen at Brighton, 2-0 up wasn’t enough.”

“It's a high-risk strategy. And for me in the Premiership, it's too ruthless.

“If you're going to give away chances, every league will punish you. And I think Spurs have found that this season so far.”
