Yves Bissouma will miss the opening game of the new Premier League campaign after being suspended by Tottenham. The 27-year-old landed himself in hot water over the weekend by posting a video on social media which appeared to show him inhaling nitrous oxide.

Bissouma later issued a public apology for his behaviour in a statement, saying: "This was a severe lack of judgment. I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was quizzed on the situation in Thursday's press conference and confirmed that Bissouma would not be considered for selection against Leicester City on Monday night.

"I've been in the game for a long time and when a situation like this arises I've tried to look at them in a couple of ways," said Postecoglou. "First there's a person and it's Biss and he has made a really poor decision. You want to help him through that.

"There are sanctions involved, some of those including education. You always want to give people to learn from their mistakes. He won’t be available for Monday, we have suspended him from Monday’s game.

"He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him and we can help him realise the decisions he makes impact the group."

Asked to explain how Bissouma would be able to earn back his trust, Postecoglou replied: "Behaviour, mate, it's that simple. It's about making better decisions. He was very apologetic to me, the club and everyone involved but that's just part of it. We all make mistakes. It is how we make our way back from those mistakes."

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, was made illegal last year with possession and sale for recreational purposes considered a criminal offence. Those caught with nitrous oxide for unlawful reasons could face a caution or an unlimited fine, while repeat offenders could serve up to two years in prison.

Bissouma made 26 league starts for Tottenham last season and will be hoping to play a key role for the north Londoners throughout the upcoming campaign. He has been at the club since 2022, when he joined from Brighton in a deal worth around £25million plus add-ons.

Tottenham coaches 'impressed with forgotten star' who could be like new signing

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou and his fellow coaches have reportedly been left impressed by what they have seen from Lucas Bergvall in pre-season. The north Londoners agreed a deal to sign Bergvall in February but the 18-year-old only arrived at the club this summer.

Bergvall is rated as one of Europe's brightest young talents and was linked with several top clubs before agreeing to join Tottenham. He made a name for himself at Swedish outfit Djurgarden and averaged one goal contribution in every three league games last season.

The teenager remained in Sweden for several months after signing with Tottenham before officially joining their squad at the start of July. He went on to register an assist on his debut, setting up Mikey Moore in a thumping 5-1 win over Hearts in a pre-season friendly last month.

Everybody at Tottenham has been 'impressed' with Bergvall so far and there is optimism that he will emerge as a key player in the future, according to The Telegraph. It is said that Postecoglou and his fellow coaches expect Bergvall to achieve great things once his fitness is up to scratch.

It seems likely that Bergvall will feature for Tottenham's youth teams for the foreseeable future as he gets used to the trials and tribulations of English football. However, it would not be a surprise to see him given opportunities at senior level if he continues to impress.

Former Sweden international Martin Aslund has already issued a glowing review of Bergvall, suggesting he can develop into one of the world's best midfielders. However, he suggested the 18-year-old might have made a mistake by choosing to join Tottenham so early in his career.

"I think he will be a very good national team player," said Aslund in a recent interview with Nyheter 24. "I think he ends up in a top team in the Benelux. Will he replace James Maddison at Tottenham? I hope I’m wrong and that he does, but I don’t think so.

"People take what I say the wrong way. Lucas is an incredible footballer. If you see how Bergvall plays football, he is an opportunist, he often does the difficult things. If you’re going to play in the Premier League and have that role, you have to check which other players have it.

"How many Swedish players have that role? There are extremely few, so then Lucas Bergvall must become one of the best players in Swedish history. Am I sure he will be? No, I don’t think so."

Tottenham 'quoted special price' for star Ange Postecoglou wants to pair Solanke with

Tottenham were reportedly quoted a higher price for Conor Gallagher than Atletico Madrid have agreed to pay for the Chelsea midfielder. In an ideal transfer window, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou wanted Gallagher to operate in midfield behind new signing Dominic Solanke.

With Archie Gray arriving in a £30million deal from Leeds United and Solanke netting Bournemouth £65m, Tottenham will have to watch their spending over the final two-and-a-half weeks of the summer transfer window.

Gallagher has long been admired by senior figures in north London, and The Telegraph claim that Postecoglou wanted to pair the 24-year-old with Solanke in his new-look starting XI.

However, the same report states that Chelsea, in an attempt to warn off one of their direct Premier League rivals, quoted Spurs a one-off £45m asking price for their midfield academy graduate.

Frustration will therefore have been brewing inside Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange when Atletico agreed a deal worth £33.7m for Gallagher - more than £10m cheaper than the price quoted to the north Londoners.

The door is not completely closed for Gallagher to join Spurs, with his Atletico switch hanging by a thread as the La Liga side scramble to make a sale before being able to afford his transfer fee.

Gallagher was recently holed up in a Madrid hotel for five days while waiting for Chelsea and Atletico to put the finishing touches on a deal which is yet to fully materialise. The England international was then flown back to London on Tuesday, despite having completed his medical with the Rojiblancos.

Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Atletico over a deal for Joao Felix which would grease the wheels of Gallagher's move in the opposite direction. Tottenham, meanwhile, are prioritising outgoings during the final section of the window.

Youngsters Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips and Jamie Donley will reportedly be allowed to leave on loan. Club chiefs also intend to consider offers for out-of-favour midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and Israeli forward Manor Solomon.

Emerson Royal is the latest senior star to have fled the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Brazilian joining AC Milan in a £15m deal.

Along with Leicester City, Spurs are the last team to get their new Premier League season underway, with the two sides set to do battle at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly set to let three more youngsters leave on loan this summer. However, in a major vote of confidence, much-hyped academy graduate Mikey Moore will be kept in and around the first team.

Prospects Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett have already joined Espanyol and Oxford United on loan since the summer window opened, with 23-year-old Bryan Gil also heading to La Liga for a temporary spell at Girona.

According to the Evening Standard, Spurs are prepared to let Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips and Jamie Donley gain experience elsewhere before reporting back at the end of 2024/25.

Devine, 20, has already benefitted from senior experience during stints at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle. The attacking midfielder has played twice for Tottenham's first team, including a goal-scoring appearance against Marine in the FA Cup when he was only 16.

Phillips is comparatively newer to the Spurs set-up, signing from Blackburn Rovers in a £3million deal last summer. The 19-year-old defender impressed on loan at Plymouth last term and looks set to be given another chance to show Postecoglou what he can do from afar.

Donley has played three games for the senior side, with the 19-year-old forward bagging 24 goals in the Under-18 Premier League last season.

While Devine, Phillips and Donley are three of the highest-rated prospects on Tottenham's books, Postecoglou has promoted 17-year-old Moore to his first-team squad already, sending a clear message about how highly the club rate him.

The 2007-born winger is seen as a potentially generational talent, having scored goals galore at youth level for England and made two appearances for Tottenham's senior team. Earlier this week, Moore signed a three-year professional contract - the longest permitted by FIFA regulations for a player under the age of 18.

"This is the moment you wait for," he told Spurs' official website. "It's been unreal, really. You never really think that it's going to become your job one day. Playing in the men's game is a lot different, coming on in front of massive crowds, it's a different feeling but I like the pressure of playing in front of all those people.

"I just hope that it keeps going. It's a big step but all the boys have welcomed me in, and it's just about me trying to prove myself. I've done nothing yet and I've still got a long, long way to go to establish myself as a first-team player."

Jadon Sancho in £21m transfer battle with Spurs boss set to cash in

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou could be in for a financial windfall due to a sell-on clause in Marcus Edwards' contract. Back in 2019, Edwards was transferred from London to Portuguese team Vitoria Guimaraes for just over £1million, with a clever 50 per cent sell-on clause included in the agreement.

After impressing at his new club, he was sold on to Sporting CP in 2022 for £6.6m - Spurs pocketed half of this sum thanks to their shrewd clause. As Football London reported earlier this year, the club then reduced their sell-on clause to 35 per cent to enable a transfer for Pedro Porro in January 2023.

This means that Spurs are entitled to 35 per cent of the profit of any future sale of Edwards by Sporting. With the summer transfer window now open, Juventus have started to show interest in Edwards.

The Italian side had initially targeted Manchester United's Jadon Sancho but according to Football Italia, no agreement has been reached despite initial interest on the player's side. However, even if he did push for a move to Italy, he now faces competition from other players being targeted by Juventus.

Furthermore, reports from The Independent suggest that the United winger is now nearing a move to PSG, putting any potential transfer to Juventus in serious doubt.

In light of the situation with Sancho, Serie A heavyweights Juve have intensified their bid to identify alternative targets including 25-year-old Edwards. Fabrizio Romano reports that the English winger is on Juventus' radar and could be bought for around €25m (£21.4m).

This could entitle Spurs to 35 per cent of any profits made from selling Edwards to Sporting - meaning if Juventus meet his club's valuation, Spurs could potentially gain up to £4m from the sale of a player they let go in 2019.

Interest from Italy in Edwards does exist but according to Portuguese outlet A Bola, there have been no official offers yet. If the winger is moved on this summer, the proceeds from his sell-on clause may be funnelled back into strengthening the Spurs squad.

Spurs boss Postecoglou remains confident that his team will be better equipped for the 2024/25 season. In an interview with Men in Blazers the 58-year-old, who recently added striker Dominic Solanke to the ranks, said: "I think we'll have grown a lot from last year of understanding about ourselves. When we were good, we were exciting. I think we had everyone talking about us.

"When we had to grind we found a way to get there but it was obviously a space in there where we didn't cope too well with disruptions, which I think is only natural because when things are going well it's a lot easier to stay on board something.

"We had some disruptions in terms of injuries and in terms of suspensions, and some lack of discipline there for sure which happens with young players, and we didn't cope well with that but we learnt a lot through that. I think without saying we're going to be a more mature squad, we're a better prepared squad this year than we were last year."

Tottenham have golden chance to land unlikely £34m deal and scupper Premier League rivals

Tottenham could scupper Chelsea's transfer plans by moving quickly to convince Conor Gallagher to sign for them instead of Atletico Madrid. Gallagher has agreed to join the Spanish giants but the move is currently on hold, with the England midfielder having flown back to the UK on Tuesday.

Terms have been settled at club level with Atletico agreeing to pay around £34million in exchange for Gallagher's signature. The 24-year-old was in Madrid over the weekend to undergo a medical and finalise the details of his contract, but the deal is no longer a formality.

Chelsea were set to sign Atletico youngster Samu Omorodion as part of the agreement but that move has since collapsed. The Blues are reportedly trying to land Joao Felix instead, which if successful will allow Gallagher to complete his move to Atletico as originally planned.

Tottenham, however, could throw a spanner in the works if they can convince Gallagher that he would be better off joining them. They have been linked with a potential move for some time and have reportedly been monitoring his situation at Stamford Bridge this summer.

A move to Spurs could appeal to Gallagher for several reasons, with one being that he would not have to relocate to Spain and spend time learning a new language. The north Londoners would probably be able to offer him more money than Atletico, given the riches enjoyed by the Premier League's biggest clubs.

It would also help Gallagher to remain firmly in the England picture rather than risk being forgotten about by making a move abroad. Several big-name players, including the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, have been overlooked by the Three Lions since leaving for continental Europe.

Gallagher could simply refuse to join Atletico if Tottenham can swing proceedings in their favour with a convincing sales pitch. Such a development would prevent Chelsea from bringing Felix back to Stamford Bridge, unless they decide to renegotiate the move as a standalone deal.

However, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be willing to step away from talks with Atletico in order to sell Gallagher to a direct rival. It goes without saying that a move to Spain would be their preference but Tottenham could emerge as unlikely candidates to land the midfielder if that deal falls flat.

Tottenham target who broke Luis Suarez record could get revenge

A striker who broke one of Luis Suarez's most famous goal-scoring records could have the perfect opportunity to get revenge over Tottenham Hotspur. In 2023, Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez hammered 31 goals over the course of a calendar year, shattering the 30 goal record Suarez set while playing for Ajax in 2009.

His incredible form saw him become linked with a move to Spurs earlier this year. Tottenham supporters thought a move was on the cards when Gimenez was spotted in the stands watching Ange Postecoglou's side's 3-2 home loss to Arsenal in the North London derby.

Yet, a matter of days later, Tottenham's interest in the Mexican international was suddenly dropped. A matter of months later, they were unveiling the £65million arrival of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. This summer, Gimenez could have the chance to haunt his former admirers, as Nottingham Forest are understood to be interested in an audacious move for him.

If Forest were to convince Feyenoord to part with Gimenez, then the prolific 23-year-old would have at least two opportunities to haunt Postecoglou and co in the Premier League. According to Transfermarkt, Gimenez is valued at around £34m, but it's currently unclear what figure would convince the Dutch giants to part with him.

His contract at the Stadion Feijenoord is set to expire in 2027. While he admitted he is happy at Feyenoord, Gimenez has also made it clear that if an exciting move presents itself, he would consider it.

While speaking to Rijnmond, Gimenez said: “If there is an opportunity which compares to Feyenoord, then I have to look at it. After that, we’ll see. I’m an ambitious person, but I’m still here and I have a contract. I’ll do my best for the club until the last day I’m here.

“The only one who knows whether I am ready for the next step or not is God. He determines my future and whether I am ready for it. I have told Dennis (Feyenoord chief executive Dennis te Kloese) and Brian (Feyenoord head coach Brian Priske) that they do not have to worry about my focus.”

Meanwhile, Postecoglou was recently hailing his club's successful acquisition of Solanke. In a recent press conference, the Australian said: "He (Solanke) was obviously one I was very keen to get in. It took a while to get it over the line but I think he will be a great fit for us in terms of the player he is and the point of his career where he is at. I think he will be a good fit.

"As I said, we are a bit light in that front third in terms of adding quality not just to the squad but also to our team. He certainly does that. Pleased to get him on board and we have a week and a bit to work with him.

"We identified him because he has the attributes we are looking for in terms of our position. He gives us some things we probably have been missing in the last 12 months, particularly when Richarlison was out last year.

"When Richy played he was very effective for us, it was quite evident when he was out we didn’t really have a player who can make the impact Dom can in the final third and just with his general play. So I think he will be a good fit for us."

Tottenham transfer domino effect as Arsenal given welcome boost after 'deal collapses'

Tottenham Hotspur may have inadvertently benefitted bitter rivals Arsenal by sealing a £65million deal for AFC Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke last week. Spurs completed the signing of Solanke for an initial £55m plus £10m in add-ons on Saturday, tying him down to a long-term contract until 2030.

It has left Bournemouth scrambling for a replacement before they start their Premier League season by travelling to Nottingham Forest this weekend.

And Arsenal could be offered a reprieve after suffering a major blow in their attempts to clear space in Mikel Arteta's squad today.

Sky Sports, UHD, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix

£52 £43 View Deal

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal clear picture quality.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Marseille have informed the Gunners that they have withdrawn their interest in Eddie Nketiah over his asking price.

Arsenal reportedly wanted £26m to part ways with Nketiah, who was thought to have green-lit a switch to the Ligue 1 club.

But the collapsed deal has left Mikel Arteta's transfer plans and the 25-year-old's future in limbo with just 18 days of the summer window remaining.

Bournemouth could be set to help both parties out, though, as they assess their options to replace Solanke at the Vitality Stadium.

TalkSPORT claim that the Cherries are interested in signing Nketiah in the coming weeks after FC Porto rejected an initial offer for Evanilson.

Bournemouth were eyeing the 24-year-old Brazilian, who netted 25 goals last season, but joined Forest in being knocked back.

And their attention may have now turned towards Nketiah, who has become an established Premier League player at Arsenal.

The England international has made 168 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 38 goals, including 19 in the Premier League.

He could be in line for plenty of minutes if he remains at the Emirates this season if Arteta opts to use Kai Havertz in midfield like he did at the beginning of last term.

Gabriel Jesus appears to be the Spanish coach's first-choice striker if Havertz is utilised further back alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Arteta responded to questions about Nketiah's future by hinting that he could be sticking around after Sunday's 2-0 win against Lyon, in which he was an unused substitute.

"All the players that are here there's biggest chance that they stay with us. That's why they're here," Arteta explained.

Arsenal will need all the firepower they get during a challenging start to the Premier League campaign, which starts with Wolves' visit to north London on Saturday.

The Gunners then face Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Spurs, Manchester City and Leicester until October.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou believes his squad are in a better place than they were a year ago after landing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth at the weekend. The north London giants agreed to pay the Cherries an initial £55million plus a further £10m in add-ons to secure the services of the striker.

Tottenham led the Premier League table last autumn but eventually wavered as they went on to finish fifth and miss out on Champions League football.

And with Spurs set to travel to Leicester in their opening top-flight clash of the campaign next Monday, Postecoglou exclaimed: “We're a better prepared squad this year than last year.”

Postecoglou was extolled by many football fans last season for his insistence on playing exciting, attacking football.

And after sitting down for an interview with the Men in Blazers YouTube channel, the Australian said: “We’ll have grown a lot from last year of understanding about ourselves. When we were good we were exciting, I think we had everyone talking about us.

“When we had to grind, we found a way to get there. But there was obviously a space in there when we didn't cope well with disruptions, which I think is only natural because when things are going well it’s a lot easier to stay on board with something.

Tottenham get seven-word Mikey Moore message with Harry Redknapp's stance clear

Harry Redknapp encouraged Ange Postecoglou to ignore Mikey Moore's tender years and give the prodigy the chance to shine in Tottenham Hotspur's senior squad. The 16-year-old wonderkid turned heads with many promising performances during Spurs' pre-season.

He scored against Hearts and bagged the decisive goal in an exciting 3-2 win against Vissel Kobe. Moore also impressed while playing for England U17s, contributing four goals and an assist in four appearances at the UEFA EURO U-17 competition.

Although there's a buzz around Moore's burgeoning talent, thrusting him into the Premier League will require some bravery from Postecoglou. However, Redknapp believes if the Australian truly rates the youngster, he should not be afraid of deploying him in the first team.

While speaking to Football London, Redknapp, who was in Portsmouth to visit Kellogg's Football Camps – a UK-wide summer football programme for local kids – said: "If he's good enough, stick him in.

"The kid who played for Spain in the European Championship final (Lamine Yamal) was only 16. We've had Wayne Rooney and Joe Cole, they all came in the team around that age. If he's as good as everyone thinks he is, hopefully we will see him in the first team this year."

Moore has already broken records at Tottenham, becoming their youngest Premier League player when he came on againstt Manchester City last year. Postecoglou also made it clear that his next role is to ensure the environment is right for Moore to build on the momentum he accrued in the summer.

In a press conference, the Australian said: "In coaching terms and working with young players, the most important thing is the environment you set up for them and what they came into.

"That means the moment they come into the dressing room, the kind of dressing room you have with the senior players and the way we train and the way we talk.

"We try to teach them as much about life as we do about football because obviously for a lot of them and you mention Mikey Moore, he's only 16. He's got so much growth as a footballer but also as a person.

"We try to provide the environment which allows him to be the best that he can be and then it's up to the player. Once you provide that environment it's up to the player to keep driving on and not be satisfied."

Redknapp was at a Kellogg’s Football Camps session in Portsmouth. The fun-filled camps are operating nationwide this summer for kids aged 5-15, with 73 locations around the UK as Kellogg’s keeps kids active and entertained during the school holidays thanks to partnerships with the EFL, Manchester City, Celtic, and Rangers. Parents can still sign kids up for their local camp by heading to the Kellogg’s Football Camps website. 30,000 free spaces are being offered throughout the summer, which can be redeemed using code 4567 until 16 August at kelloggsfc.com.
