Tottenham Eyeing Move to Sign 'Outstanding' England International

Tottenham are eyeing a potential move to sign Sam Johnstone from Wolves this month after he was told he can leave the club, according to Graeme Bailey.

The Lilywhites are in the midst of a huge defensive crisis currently with manager Ange Postecoglou unable to call upon first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as well as defenders Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie, who has recently been ruled out for up to ten weeks with a hamstring injury.

But the goalkeeper position has been a major issue with Fraser Forster struggling for form since stepping into the number one spot, and Spurs could now look to the transfer market to strengthen the position for the second half of the season.

Tottenham Eyeing Sam Johnstone

England international can leave Molineux

Johnstone only made the move to Wolves in the summer in a £10m deal from Crystal Palace, with Gary O'Neil looking to strengthen the position as Jose Sa was lined up for a move to Saudi Arabia.

But that never materialised and despite starting the season as first-choice, an injury and some poor results saw Sa claim back the number one jersey before O'Neil was sacked and new manager Vitor Pereira has opted for his fellow countryman in all three games he's taken charge of so far - leaving Johnstone on the bench.

Now journalist Bailey has revealed that the 31-year-old can leave Molineux during the January transfer window, and Tottenham are considering making a move to bring him to north London.

One issue that Spurs could find in a deal is that Johnstone, who has been described as "outstanding" in the past, clearly isn't interested in being a number two at this stage in his career, as he has looked to move on at the first opportunity twice in the last six months.

Postecoglou has made it very clear that Vicario is his number one and once he recovers from his ankle injury he will come back into the team, and the manager also confirmed when Vicario's injury happened that he wouldn't enter the market for a new goalkeeper. But while poor form recently may have changed that viewpoint, it remains to be seen if a deal for Johnstone is plausible.

Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in signing Brighton & Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

Adding another centre-forward could be one of Spurs' priorities before the end of the window as they eye cover for Dominic Solanke. Richarlison has regularly been deployed in a centre-forward role during his time at Tottenham, but he's struggled with form and injuries of late.

Son Heung-min is another option, but the South Korean forward has predominantly played off the left-hand side of attack. Ferguson has found minutes hard to come by for Brighton this season, with his development currently stalling with the Seagulls.

Tottenham Eyeing Evan Ferguson

He's available on loan

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are one of the sides who are showing an interest in Brighton striker Evan Ferguson, who is available to leave the Seagulls on loan during the January transfer window. Ange Postecoglou is hoping to add another attacker to his forward line, bringing in a striker who can compete with Solanke. The report adds that Brighton once valued Ferguson at £100m, but he's not lived up to that price tag so far this term.

Ferguson is reportedly keen on a move to London and wants to play for a 'bigger club'. It's not quite worked out for him with the Seagulls this season due to a lack of game time, but there's no guarantee he will start every week if he makes the move to Tottenham.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has been described as a 'superstar', attracted plenty of hype after bursting onto the scene with Brighton in his first season. Injuries have halted his progress so far, but there's no doubt there is a talented player there waiting to explode once again.

A loan move to a side who have recently forked out a hefty amount of money on Solanke might not be the smartest move for him, but a temporary departure to get game time will be imperative if he wants to avoid his career hitting a roadblock.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has no intention of leaving the club during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports News.

The Brazil international has had an injury-plagued campaign in north London so far this season, suffering with multiple hamstring problems that have seen him sidelined for much of the year.

That has seen speculation that he could be moved on as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad to ease the pressure on his job, but the former Everton man isn't expected to go anywhere according to a new report.

Spurs Want Richarlison Back from Injury

Brazilian has no interest in a move away

Australian coach Postecoglou identified the forward areas of the pitch as somewhere that needed bolstering in the summer and re-signed Timo Werner on a season-long loan before bringing in Wilson Odobert from Burnley also, which Richarlison was kept despite interest from Saudi Arabia during the window.

The 27-year-old re-injured his hamstring while getting an assist in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa back in November and hasn't featured since, but Sky Sports News report that the club are not looking to sell him during the winter window and are instead hoping that he can return to fitness to compete for a first-team spot in the side.

It's also stated that Richarlison, who signed from Everton in a £60m deal in the summer of 2022, has 'no desire' to anywhere in January either.

So far this season the Brazilian has managed just one start in all competitions, which came in the Europa League where he scored the only goal of the game against AZ Alkmaar.

He has been restricted to just five appearances in the Premier League, all from the bench, for a grand total of 88 minutes of action, and there has been frustration at his lack of availability from fans.

With interest from Saudi clubs still being mentioned it's possible they could return in January, but it's clear that neither party has any interest in seeing a move materialise this month and therefore a transfer away shouldn't be expected at all until the summer at the very least.

Exclusive: Tottenham Move for £30m Serie A Star 'One to Watch' in January

Tottenham Hotspur are seriously considering whether to attempt to win the race for Patrick Dorgu despite Hotspur Way recruitment chiefs facing significant competition for the Lecce star during the newly-reopened winter transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Spurs made Dominic Solanke the most expensive acquisition in the north Londoners' history when he completed a £65million switch from Premier League rivals Bournemouth in August, but Ange Postecoglou's side are playing catch-up in their pursuit of European qualification after ending 2024 out of form.

The Greek-Australian tactician, who was forced to contend with Destiny Udogie becoming the latest member of the squad to pick up an injury as he was forced off with a hamstring problem against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, is working closely with technical director Johan Lange to pinpoint potential Tottenham recruits.

Dorgu on Spurs' Radar as Possible Acquisition

North Londoners may attempt to win race for winter deal

Tottenham upping the ante and making a move for Dorgu in the coming weeks is one to watch, according to GMS sources, as Udogie moving onto the treatment table has underlined the need for Postecoglou to bolster his left-back options ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on February 3.

Serie A outfit Lecce are in a strong negotiating position ahead of Spurs potentially testing their resolve as the Denmark international, who has been a key part of Marco Giampaolo's plans since his arrival in the dugout, still has four-and-a-half years remaining on a contract which allows him to pocket in the region of £10,000-per-week.

GMS sources have been informed that Dorgu is firmly on Tottenham's radar in the aftermath of Postecoglou making his thoughts on upgrading the squad clear during discussions with influential figures behind the scenes, but there is an awareness that he is gaining admiring glances from elsewhere and they could find themselves involved in a bidding war.

The 20-year-old has shown his versatility throughout the campaign by featuring on each side of Lecce's backline and on both flanks, resulting in attracting widespread interest, while he has given suitors hope of striking a deal by refusing to rule out the possibility of embarking on a fresh challenge this month.

Tottenham have been joined by Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea in monitoring Dorgu's situation, GMS sources recently revealed, while Napoli and AC Milan are contemplating whether to hand him an opportunity to move to one of his current employers' domestic counterparts.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Patrick Dorgu has been averaging 4.9 ball recoveries and 1.9 tackles per Serie A outing this season

Udogie's Injury Could Lead to Boost in Budget

Postecoglou wants to sign left-back and wide attacker

GMS sources have been told that Udogie's injury could help Postecoglou to persuade chairman Daniel Levy to increase the budget to accommodate a left-back signing after Tottenham have been scouting wide attackers due to wanting to bring in more youthful and dynamic options as they build for the future.

Spurs captain Heung-min Son has entered the final six months of his £190,000-per-week deal after a one-year option to extend the terms has not been triggered at this stage, meaning the South Korea international has joined Sergio Reguilon in being able to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas suitor.

Postecoglou is adamant that better options are needed in attack and defence if Tottenham are to improve in 2025, GMS sources understand, and he is seeking upgrades despite Timo Werner being available for the remainder of the campaign as the decision has been made not to cut his loan spell short.

The Champions League winner returned to north London on a temporary basis in the summer, with the deal including an option to make the move from RB Leipzig permanent for £8.5million, but they had been toying with the idea of allowing him to return to the Bundesliga side ahead of schedule.

Tottenham have been dealt a major blow after defender Destiny Udogie was ruled out for between six and ten weeks through injury, according to club insider Paul O'Keefe.

The Lilywhites have been decimated by defensive injuries in recent weeks with Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven hobbling off in the defeat to Chelsea, while Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies and Udogie have all picked up issues since.

Dragusin was rushed back for the 2-2 draw with Wolves most recently, but Udogie will have no such hope of returning any time soon with agent O'Keefe revealing he is set to be out until March.

Udogie was forced off against Wolves clutching his hamstring, and after undergoing scans it has been estimated that he will be unavailable for between six and ten weeks, which could take him all the way through until mid-March.

Djed Spence has been forced to fill in on the left in recent weeks, while Sergio Reguilon has been drafted in from the cold due to the current injury crisis that Ange Postecoglou is facing at the back.

The Italy international will now certainly miss games against Newcastle, Tamworth, Arsenal, Everton, Hoffenheim, Leicester, Elfsborg, Brentford and the two Carabao Cup semi-final clashes with Liverpool.

But depending on his recovery he could also miss any fourth-round FA Cup clash as well as further fixtures against Man Utd, Ipswich, Man City, Bournemouth and Fulham in a major blow to the north London outfit.

Ben Davies recently suffered a setback in training in his own recovery from a hamstring problem which has delayed his return to the side, while Romero and Van de Ven are unlikely to return until later in January.

That leaves a huge whole in the squad at the back, which already has teenager Archie Gray filling in as a centre-back despite playing most of his career games as a right-back or central midfielder.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is already a long-term absentee with a broken ankle, while Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have also missed much of the season with hamstring troubles.

Fabrizio Romano Shares Big Update on £24m Tottenham Target

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be targeting a January move for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori, but his situation may have just changed at the San Siro, according to Fabrizio Romano writing in his latest exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that the former Chelsea centre-back is of interest to Spurs as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad this month following an underwhelming campaign to date.

The north London outfit sit in the bottom half of the Premier League standings as 2025 begins, having lost nine of their 19 top flight games this term.

While scoring goals hasn't been an issue - they have netted 41 - Postecoglou's side have also conceded 28 times, which is four more than 16th-placed Everton.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Tomori has only played 11 minutes of Serie A football since October 29 after falling out of favour.

Tottenham haven't been helped with injuries and suspensions in that respect with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero missing games this season, but it has highlighted how they are lacking depth in that position when Archie Gray - brought in as a midfielder or right-back - has been regularly filling in there in recent weeks.

Tomori would be an interesting target for Spurs having fallen out of favour under Paulo Fonseca, but his situation may have just changed following the Portuguese's sacking, according to Romano.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, he said:

'No news on this so far. Tomori’s future depends on Sergio Conceicao now, as he was not a key player under former manager Paulo Fonseca. Let’s see what Milan decide to do now with their new manager.'

Romano previously told GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham could make two, or even three, signings in January with Daniel Levy looking set for a busy month in order to boost a threadbare squad for his manager.

Tottenham's first match of 2025 is against in-form Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, as they look to move back into the top 10.

Tottenham 'Open Talks' to Sign Lightning-Fast 'Monster' for Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks to sign Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov as they look to add a centre-back to Ange Postecoglou's squad for the January transfer window, according to TBR Football.

Injuries to Spurs' backline this season has shown their lack of options in defence, with young midfielder Archie Gray forced to play in an unfamiliar centre-back role at times. Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both currently on the treatment table, while Radu Dragusin has also suffered fitness problems.

As a result, adding another centre-back could be a priority for the north London outfit this month, especially if they can secure a new addition for a reasonable price.

Tottenham Open Talks to Sign Khusanov

He's valued at around £25m

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham have been doing their homework on Khusanov and believe he has what it takes to make the move to the Premier League. Spurs have now opened talks to secure his signature, with Lens valuing the 20-year-old at around £25m.

The report claims that Tottenham are planning on signing at least one new defender this month as they look to bolster Postecoglou's backline. Khusanov is already a regular for Lens, but at the age of 20, he's far from reaching his full potential.

Spurs will need a defender to come in who might not necessarily expect to play every single week, with Van de Ven and Romero likely to be the chosen duo when fit. Khusanov, who has been described as a "monster" defender, is also almost as quick as Van de Ven, according to TBR Football, clocking up a top speed of 36.48 km/h this season.

Whether Khusanov would be willing to come in and play a backup role when Van de Ven and Romero are fit remains to be seen, but it's been proven this campaign that Spurs need multiple options and have a lack of cover. Having Gray playing in a centre-back role hasn't been ideal, and Tottenham are struggling in the Premier League this term as a result.

Tottenham Want to Sign 'Superstar' Champions League Winner for Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Manchester City star Jack Grealish ahead of the January transfer window, according to MailOnline journalist Jack Gaughan.

Spurs, alongside Newcastle United, are believed to be interested in the 29-year-old English winger, who has struggled to perform under Pep Guardiola in 2024, scoring zero goals this calendar year.

The former Aston Villa winger has started just 10 games for the reigning Premier League champions this season, carrying over the disappointing form he showed in the 2023/24 campaign, where he recorded three goals and three assists in 36 matches.

While Guardiola has played down the chances of any major player departures in January, the lure of more regular game time could appeal to Grealish, who has struggled to lock down a consistent starting spot at the Etihad since joining from Villa in 2021.

Man City would likely be in a strong negotiating position if any of their Premier League rivals came calling for Grealish’s services in 2025, considering the Birmingham-born ace still has more than two years left on his contract, which runs until June 2027.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Grealish has registered two assists in 18 appearances for Man City in all competitions this season.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Grealish’s salary demands could be a significant hurdle for interested clubs in January, considering the England international pockets £300,000 per week at Man City.

The 'superstar' 29-year-old is one of the top-paid players in the Premier League and is on considerably more lucrative terms than anyone on Tottenham's books.

Spurs are expected to be busy in the January transfer window and may target a new central defender following injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Ange Postecoglou has dealt with a depleted squad for much of the season and may be preparing for a busy January to strengthen his team with new signings.

Tottenham have won just once in their last seven Premier League games and are sitting 11th in the table, 11 points off Chelsea in fourth.

Tottenham Want to Sign 'Outstanding' Forward for Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou could raid his former club Celtic in the January transfer window, according to reports - with a move for star winger Nicolas Kuhn being touted amid his superb form for Brendan Rodgers' side this season.

The German is excelling at Celtic, having had a slow start to life in Glasgow last season with two goals and two assists in 14 Scottish Premiership games - but that tally currently stands at 14 goals and 11 assists in 25 games this season, becoming Celtic's star man with the Hoops currently romping home to the league title. However, success on the pitch comes with interest from elsewhere, and with the Premier League club lurking, Postecoglou could raid his old club to bring their standout star to north London in a bid to save his job.

Report: Tottenham Considering Nicolas Kuhn Deal

The Celtic man has been on fire this season and Postecoglou has noted his development

The report from TBR Football states that Tottenham are considering a move for Celtic star Kuhn to improve their attacking ranks in January. Brennan Johnson has performed well on the right, but a change in tactics has seen Dejan Kulusevski used more centrally - and so Johnson needs competition and backup, with the Swede excelling in Ange's new system.

As a result of his strong form, Kuhn even garnered interest from German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann, but Premier League teams are circling - including Postecoglou, who could make a return to Parkhead.

Alongside Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Brighton, the north London outfit have also been tracking Kuhn since the summer - and Celtic could make a huge slice of profit should they decide to cash in on the German star.

Kuhn's 'outstanding' nature and improved efforts when it comes to his end product have caught Tottenham's eye, alongside his versatility, being able to play anywhere across the forward line - and although Celtic don't want to lose their star man, they would struggle to reject a healthy offer.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Nicolas Kuhn has 19 goals in 32 games for Germany's youth teams but he's never featured for the senior squad.

The Daily Record previously reported that Celtic would ask for a whopping £25million, which would sit Kuhn amongst fellow record sales such as Kieran Tierney and Matt O'Riley, who both ply their trade in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is keeping tabs on Maxence Caqueret and is entertaining the possibility of attempting to lure the Lyon star to Hotspur Way during the winter transfer window if he is put on the market with a bargain price tag, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Despite making Dominic Solanke the most expensive signing in Spurs' history thanks to completing a £65million switch from Bournemouth in August, the north Londoners are looking to secure further reinforcements after a loss of form has seen them heading into 2025 sitting 11 points adrift of the Champions League qualification places.

Although Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray were also among the summer arrivals, with the latter sealing a £30million move in the aftermath of missing out on guiding boyhood club Leeds United to promotion, Postecoglou is eyeing Caqueret as he aims to recruit another central midfield option.

Spurs Closely Monitoring Caqueret's Situation

Lyon may be forced into listening to cut-price bids for midfielder

Tottenham are interested in winning the race for Caqueret if Lyon make him available as they desperately look to secure mid-season funds, according to GMS sources, having taken a liking when they sent scouts to watch a host of potential targets in Ligue 1 ahead of the transfer window reopening.

The 24-year-old's current employers are heading into the new year in a perilous position as they have been provisionally relegated from the French top flight because of financial mismanagement, and Spurs are seriously considering whether to take advantage if given the opportunity.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham are keeping track of developments ahead of potentially pouncing if Lyon are forced into a January fire-sale as Caqueret would fit the bill in the midst of Postecoglou aiming to recruit a fresh face in the middle of the park on a modest budget.

The former France under-21 international is set to enter the final two-and-a-half years of his contract, which allows him to pocket close to £54,000-per-week at the Groupama Stadium, and he may be left with little option but to embark on a fresh challenge if his boyhood club need to cash in.

The possibility of Tottenham signing Caqueret or any other midfielder hinges on whether they can negotiate a cut-price deal or reach a loan agreement, GMS sources have learned, but Postecoglou has been keeping an eye on his situation after also admiring Lens' Andy Diouf and Abdukodir Khusanov when searching for talent in Ligue 1.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Maxence Caqueret won three ground duels and made two key passes during Lyon's 4-0 victory over Le Havre in October

Postecoglou Facing Competition for Caqueret

Trio of Premier League rivals also eyeing potential swoop

GMS sources have been told that Tottenham are in serious danger of facing stiff competition for Caqueret's signature as domestic rivals West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Everton are also eager to discover whether Lyon are prepared to negotiate a deal for a bargain fee ahead of the winter window's February 3 deadline.

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen were interested in landing Les Gones' academy graduate during the summer as well, but a move to the Bay Arena failed to come to fruition and he remains sought-after ahead of possibly walking away from Ligue 1 for the first time in his career.

Caqueret - who has been described as a 'baller' by journalist Zach Lowy - will have a host of options if Lyon choose to sanction his departure, GMS sources understand, but Tottenham have set their sights on leapfrogging to the front of the queue for his services in the event of it becoming clear that they can reach an agreement for less than his market value.

GMS sources recently revealed Everton and Crystal Palace are growing in confidence that the French giants will slash their demands due to being desperate to secure cash ahead of the season reaching its climax as it would boost their hopes of maintaining their top flight status heading into next term.
