PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

Pep Guardiola will be facing the media at the pre-match press conference from 13:30 (UK) on Tuesday 29 October, where the City boss will provide all the latest team news updates, and you can follow it live on mancity.com and our official app.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Our last league cup clash with Spurs was in the final of the competition in 2021, where Aymeric Laporte’s goal proved to be the difference and helped us claim our fourth consecutive Carabao Cup.

With 8,000 supporters in attendance – the most at any game in England since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic – Guardiola’s men rose to the occasion at Wembley, where the win was made all the sweeter by the sight of 2,000 City fans celebrating at full-time.

The last time we faced Spurs across any competition was in May 2024, where Erling Haaland’s second half brace saw City secure a priceless 2-0 victory– and moved Pep Guardiola’s side back to the top of the Premier League table and within one win of a historic fourth straight title, which we went on to claim later in the month.

LAST TIME OUT

We reached this stage of the competition by beating Watford 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, as Matheus Nunes scored his first goal for the Club, with Jeremy Doku scoring the other.

In league terms, we secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Southampton thanks to Erling Haaland‘s early goal.

As for Spurs, late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson helped them overcome Championship side Coventry in the last round.

They face Crystal Palace in the league on Sunday, with kick-off at 14:00 (UK).

City v Spurs: Etihad opener just one month away!

Description

Gareth Taylor’s side face Tottenham Hotspur on Friday 8 November with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 (UK).

City currently sit top of the WSL table and are yet to taste defeat in 2024/25, picking up seven points out of a possible nine.

CITY v SPURS | BUY YOUR ETIHAD TICKETS

Things have been equally impressive in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, with the Blues qualifying for the group stages with an 8-0 aggregate win over Paris FC.

But Tottenham have also started strongly this season as they look to build on arguably their most successful campaign to date, reaching the 2024 FA Cup final alongside a sixth-placed finish in the WSL.

Indeed, but for a 95th minute winner from Liverpool in their last outing, the Lilywhites would also still be unbeaten across the campaign so far.

It all points towards a thrilling showdown between two sides who faced each other four times last season, with City winning three of those encounters.

And the latest clash between the sides will take place under the Etihad lights, our first fixture there since a 3-1 Manchester derby win back in March 2024.

A Jess Park brace and record-breaking Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw strike earned City a crucial three points and local bragging rights in front of over 40,000 fans in what was our fourth competitive fixture at the stadium.

Tickets are available from just £15. For more information on how to purchase, click here.

Additionally, supporters can secure their seats for the trio of WSL fixtures to be played at the Etihad through the Hat-Trick Pack at a price of £40 for adults and £12 for U16s.

The Club has received an allocation of 5,794 tickets, including 26 wheelchair bays and a number of tickets for ambulant supporters.

All tickets for this fixture will be issued as mobile tickets.

Juniors under 14 must be accompanied by an adult over 18.

From this allocation, the following groups will receive tickets for this match: Season Ticket Members, Seasonal Hospitality Members, Owner, Board of Directors, Football Management, Players, Club Officials and Staff, Former Players, Club Partners and the Man City Supporters Club.

We advise against booking travel or accommodation for fixtures until they secure a ticket. Fixture dates and kick-off times can change at any time.

Similar to previous seasons, Season Ticket Members aged between 18 and 25 years old registered on the League Cup Scheme (based on supporter’s age on 1st August 2024) can purchase from an exclusive allocation of away match tickets on the first day of sale.

However, for the 2024/25 season, to help improve the purchase journey, the Club will assign the 5% allocation for 18–25-year-olds to a specific block in the away section.

Fans with the necessary ticket points to be able to buy in the first window will be excluded from this allocation and can select a seat in a location of their choosing.

Any tickets that are not purchased on this day will be added to the wider allocation for Season Ticket Members.

Description

The clash is a repeat of the 2020/21 final, with Aymeric Laporte‘s second half header earning City a 1-0 win in our most recent Carabao Cup success.

We’re yet to face Ange Postecoglou’s side this season, with our most recent encounter coming in the penultimate game of 2023/24.

An Erling Haaland brace set City on our way to a 2-0 win back in May, with our first Premier League fixture against Spurs coming this November at the Etihad Stadium.

However, we now face a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month, with the Londoners currently sat tenth in the league with seven points from their opening five matches.

The draw took place following Liverpool’s victory over West Ham United at Anfield, overseen by Jamie Redknapp and Kevin Nolan.

City earned our spot in the fourth round with a 2-1 win over Championship side Watford at the Etihad Stadium.

First half strikes from Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes set Pep Guardiola‘s men on our way to victory, with the boss fielding six different academy graduates across the 90 minutes.

That group included 16-year-old defender Kaiden Braithwaite, who became the third youngest male City player in our history, behind only Paul Simpson and Glyn Pardoe.

Spurs, meanwhile, got the better of Coventry City thanks to two late goals.

Round Four ties will take place week commencing 28 October in the midweek between a home match against Southampton and a trip to Bournemouth.

When is the Carabao Cup third round draw?

Submitted by daniel on
Picture

Description

Pep Guardiola’s side join the competition at the third round stage, but updates have been made to the historic tournament.

Our last League Cup triumph came in 2021 thanks to a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur - and we’ll be aiming to win the trophy for the ninth time in our illustrious history this term.

Due to UEFA Champions League changes, including an extended league stage, Round Three of the Carabao Cup will take place over two midweeks.

It also means clubs participating in European football’s premier competition can’t be drawn against Europa League competing teams in the third round of the League Cup.

As a result, we will avoid Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, the 25 teams progressing from Round Two and Chelsea – who are in the UEFA Conference League – are not affected at this stage.

Therefore, Champions League and Europa League clubs will be placed in bowl one and drawn against one of the remaining 26 teams in bowl two.

And a pre-draw will take place ahead of Nottingham Forest v Newcastle on Wednesday 28 August to determine the home or away position of clubs in bowl one.

The main draw will then take place on Sky Sports Football after the clash between Nuno Espirito Santo and Eddie Howe’s sides has concluded. Kick-off at the City Ground is scheduled for 20:00 (UK).

Round Three of the Carabao Cup will be played across the weeks commencing 16 and 23 September.

Stay close to mancity.com and our official app for full Carabao Cup details, including who our third-round opponents are.
