Earlier this month, Real Betis president Ángel Haro and sporting director Manu Fajardo revealed Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Johnny Cardoso.

Tottenham have an option to buy the midfielder in the summer of 2025. They sold Giovani Lo Celso to the La Liga side and as part of this deal, Spurs negotiated a purchase option for Cardoso.

AS report Tottenham are ‘closely monitoring’ the 22-year-old, who arrived at Real Betis from Internacional in January.

The American enjoyed regular game time in the second half of last season. He’s been limited to four substitute appearances this season.

With Ange Postecoglou’s side keeping tabs, AS state he’s asking Manuel Pellegrini for a place in his starting lineup.

Cardoso was involved in the Copa América in the summer and was the last one to return from September’s international break. He should start to feature regularly in the coming weeks.

Tottenham have a ‘preferential purchase option’ and Haro echoed this on Monday.

“It would be something interesting for everyone, it would mean that we would also have an added value,” he said, as quoted by AS.

“In short, if there is a transfer in which there is a capital gain for Betis, Tottenham would have a percentage of it. There is also a purchase option for them, but it would be high and positive for us if it were to happen.”

Tottenham could benefit financially even if they decide against exercising the purchase option.

Tottenham Hotspur allowed Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to join Marseille on a loan deal with an obligation to buy in July.

The Denmark international decided to leave Tottenham after struggling for regular game time under Ange Postecoglou last season.

Marseille wanted to sign the Tottenham owned player at the start of this year. That’s at least what their advisor, Medhi Benatia, indicated during an interview with beIN Sports, relayed by Le10 Sport.

During Benatia’s playing career, he played alongside the 28-year-old at Bayern Munich. The Ligue 1 side’s official knew the midfielder’s qualities and wanted to sign, months after he arrived at the club in November 2023.

The Moroccan has now revealed the French club couldn’t make an approach earlier due to their financial situation.

When asked to give an insight into the deal for the Tottenham man, he said: “Behind the scenes of the recruitment of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg? Pierre was a bit like my little one already at Bayern, and I really liked this little fiery young man, a fighter in training. He didn’t give up.

“When I arrived here, he was one of the first names. We had financial problems, so it wasn’t possible. When we wanted to change the entire squad a little, he was a priority for me to try to relaunch the file [project]. When we talk about Pierre, he’s the one who improves others for me.”

The defensive midfielder has clocked in 356 minutes from four games for Roberto De Zerbi’s side this season. The Dane’s time at Tottenham will come to an end when Marseille exercise the mandatory purchase option.

Giovani Lo Celso returned to Real Betis after they agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.

As a part of this deal, Tottenham have an option to buy Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso. This was confirmed by the La Liga side’s president, Ángel Haro, earlier this month.

Recent claims have stated the purchase option is set at €25m and Spurs have to exercise it during a two-week window in June 2025.

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham could risk losing out on the midfielder to AC Milan.

The 20-year-old could be a hot topic again at the San Siro because of Bennacer’s injury. The report claims the Italian club have ‘every intention of initiating’ contacts with the American.

Milan signed Emerson Royal from Tottenham in the last window. The right-back and Cardoso share the same agent, and this could help the Italian club to sign the Real Betis player.

Calciomercato haven’t taken into account Tottenham’s purchase option to buy Cardoso at the end of this season. This is likely because Milan are looking to sign him for January, but then Spurs will have surely secured a clause which means they could have a say in that.

Otherwise, it would be pretty useless to get a buying option only to see a player move before there’s a chance to use it.

Arsenal favourite Fredrik Ljungberg believes the Gunners were lucky to finish the match against Tottenham Hotspur with 11 men.

AC Milan’s Noah Okafor has ended up on Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer radar, according to a report from Italy.

The striker has scored one goal from three games this season. MilanLive.it say his displays haven’t been convincing and he could lose his place in the starting XI to Tammy Abraham.

Milan signed Abraham on loan from AS Roma this summer and his arrival is a concern for Okafor. That’s because the report says Paulo Fonseca will favour the Englishman. This could ‘lead to a divorce’ between the 24-year-old and the Serie A side as early as January. When discussing interested parties, only Tottenham are mentioned.

The Premier League side have been following him to provide Ange Postecoglou more options in the attack.

It’s claimed ‘Spurs in particular’ are willing to table an offer of €20m plus bonuses for Okafor. MilanLive.it claim there’s a good chance of the deal going through for this figure.

Spurs invested over €60m to sign Dominic Solanke in the last window. Postecoglou has him and Richarlison as the two strikers in the squad. In addition to this, both Timo Werner and Heung-min Son can operate up front.

Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign US Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu in the last window, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 19-year-old has been a regular since making his first team debut last year. His displays for the Serie A side helped him also make debut for Denmark earlier this month.

Dorgu’s rise at the Italian club have seen him attract interest from Tottenham and other clubs.

Towards the end of the summer window, Spurs arrived ‘with an offer’ to sign him. The details of their proposal aren’t mentioned.

Gazzetta state Dorgu currently earns €90,000 per year, and it was ‘more difficult’ for him this summer than others. This suggests he may have found it hard to walk away from Tottenham’s offer. Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus have also tried to sign him.

Maurice Ogbodo, the Denmark international’s agent, has links with Base Soccer. The British agency has ‘direct relationship’ with top Premier League sides, and they seem to have had a role in Tottenham’s assault.

Lecce are ready to open the door for Dorgu’s transfer next summer and have informed the same to his agent. Gazzetta indicate Tottenham or another club could agree a deal in January and then send him back on loan to Lecce until the end of this season.

His valuation could increase from €30m to €40m, if he were to impress for the Italian club in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Calcio Lecce claim Ange Postecoglou’s side ‘remain very interested’ in the left-back, who has been used in the attacking positions this season.

Lecce technical director Pantaleo Corvino, who values Dorgu at €40m, has started talks with Dorgu’s entourage to extend his contract.

Tottenham Hotspur could make a huge profit from Radu Drăgușin’s sale in the future.

That’s at least what FC Steaua București owner George ‘Gigi’ Becali claims, and he said this during a chat with Fanatik.

Tottenham invested around €30m to buy the centre-back from Genoa in January. The 22-year-old’s game time has been limited at the north London club, but that was to be expected.

The Romania international clocked in 424 minutes from nine games last season and has made one appearance this season. Ange Postecoglou started him in Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United earlier this month due to Micky van de Ven’s injury.

Drăgușin has a contract at the Premier League side lasting until 2030. Despite the limited role under the former Celtic man so far, Becali insists Tottenham can earn big from his sale.

Steaua București sold Dennis Man to Parma in 2021. The Romanian side are entitled to receive a percentage of a future sale. When discussing this, Becali used the Tottenham player as an example of making a big money move.

“He [Dennis Man] is a valuable player, of European stature, but €60/70/100m players, those are the ones… [Editor’s note – Drăgușin was sold for €30m] I told you €30m for Drăgușin and that’s what they sold him for, €30m,” he said.

“Drăgușin is a centre-back. He can grow. How old is he? [He’s 22.] Drăgușin, yes. He can be sold for €70-80m. He’s young, he’s tall, a centre-back. You rarely find it.”

Tottenham invested €30m on the defender and can earn more than double if they sell him for at least €70m. This would only be possible if he were to feature regularly for Spurs.
