Description

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic is learning Italian and German, to up his languages to four.

That’s according to BILD, who cover the Tottenham youngster today and how he still has two years of school to go. And he’s learning two languages as well.

They explain that it’s easy to forget Vuskovic is just 18 years-old given the performances and ‘dominance’ he shows on the pitch.

There are signs, though, including the fact that he’s currently studying for his high school diploma. He’s been studying for the Croatian diploma for some time now, taking online courses at a school that most closely corresponds to a German high school.

The Tottenham defender receives learning materials, has to complete tasks, memorise content and is then quizzed remotely. Alongside this, he is also taking courses in German and Italian. He already speaks English and Croatian, so will soon have four languages at his disposal.

He has two years of these studies left and has been studying at previous clubs while on loan as well. He has a quite busy schedule given those, playing time at Hamburg and his recent call-up to the Croatian national team squad.

The defender also wants to start his theory lessons for his driver’s license after the international break, seemingly unperturbed by his already huge workload.

Everybody loves Timo Werner, and BILD want to know why. So, they’ve been asking fans directly, why is the Tottenham flop so popular?

The German newspaper have an article today in which they question why the striker is ‘celebrated in Leipzig’. To get an answer, they’ve gone to the fans to find out.

They explain that even today they still hear form England how popular Werner is among fans of his previous clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham.

They say ‘time and time again’ they’ve seen comments, particularly on social media, from Chelsea and Tottenham fans wishing him well and even regretting that he wasn’t more successful.

This is something of a trend as he’s also extremely popular in Leipzig. That’s despite a difficult few years at the club and their attempts to move him on this summer.

This has all perplexed BILD, who can’t understand why the German remains so popular, particularly when he hasn’t been a key player for anyone, Leipzig, Chelsea or Tottenham, for some time.

They wanted answers so have taken to the streets and, well, if Timo needs a confidence boost, then he should give the replies below a read.

Klaus-Dieter Schmitz (66/Wittenberg): “I just like Timo; he’s likeable and has a positive aura. I met him in the city once this summer when I was getting a bratwurst. He’s always approachable, we chatted briefly, and I encouraged him. Personally, I hope he becomes truly important in the sport again.”

Elke Kühn (68/Leipzig): “The fans simply love Timo. He did a lot for the club and scored a lot of goals in the beginning. The fans haven’t forgotten that. Personally, I think he went to England too early. Many young players make that mistake, and England, in particular, isn’t an easy place.”

Susanne (41) and Annette (43/Leipzig) Melzer: “Why do the fans love Timo Werner? Clearly the likability factor. He’s simply a down-to-earth, good boy. Before his move to England, he scored a lot of goals. And guys like that, who made the club great, always represented RB Leipzig. It’s like Yussuf Poulsen.”

Gerhard Jütersonke (71) with his wife Regina (66/Leipzig): “Timo shot us into the Champions League for the first time and thus made club history. The move to England wasn’t good for him; he was ill-advised. Chelsea was a size too big for him, and after that, he fell into a slump. People sometimes say he’s lazy in training. That’s hard to judge. For us, he’s a good, calm guy, not a crazy person.”

Reports in Brazil have repeatedly linked Vasco da Gama’s Rayan with a move to Tottenham. Now, Nottingham Forest are also emerging as a suitor for the versatile attacker.

Earlier this week, Calciomercato.it reported the player is keen on playing in Europe, with Italian clubs in the mix. Rayan has already rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia.

AS Roma and AC Milan are the Serie A clubs most keen right now.

Now, Calciomercato.it cover interest from Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Chelsea. They claim that English clubs have watched the 19-year-old on more than one occasion.

Rayan’s contract at Vasco da Gama runs until 31st December 2026. He has a €40m release clause but the Brazilian club are trying to renew his deal.

The player, who wants to be in the top leagues of Europe, opened up to Porto. It was Vasco da Gama rejected the Portuguese club, who wanted to pay just €12m.

The report claims that an auction for the teenager can take place in January. Nottingham Forest and Tottenham might have to pay €20-30m but this doesn’t faze them.

This will prove to be a problem for Milan, who will struggle to meet that asking price.

Tottenham are ahead of Nottingham Forest, having already spoken to the player’s entourage.

Radu Dragusin’s agent has insisted he is on course to return, despite Tottenham Hotspur blocking him from playing for Romania.

Digisport cover comments from his agent, Florin Manea, today. He insists all is well with the Romanian central defender.

The outlet explains Dragusin had been in Romania’s plans for the next international break. He was on the preliminary list of players for the games in October.

However, the Tottenham man will not play in either game, with reports explaining Thomas Frank was against the idea.

They convinced Romania to leave Dragusin out, despite their World Cup hopes being at stake.

The 23-year-old is still recovering from a torn cruciate ligament suffered in January. That was the first major injury of his career and expected to keep him out for eight months. Those eight months are now coming to an end.

“Now or in a month at most”

It is because of that he was in Romania manager Mircea Lucescu’s eyeline, but Tottenham have stopped that happening. His agent, though, wants to make it clear that his recovery is right on track.

“Radu is fine. I don’t know if he will be approved to play, especially since he hasn’t started full training at Tottenham,” he said.

“I’m glad he’s on the list. The moment of his return is approaching. That it will be now or in a month at most, I think Radu will be 100% ready. There is no delay in recovery, the doctor told us that it is best to return from 8 months onwards.

“Radu will be 8 months from the operation in mid-October. On the contrary, he is ahead with his preparation. There have been players who have stayed for 12-13 months. The idea is not to rush.

“It is normal to feel Radu’s absence from the team. There is no replacement for him. He plays at the level he plays at and there is a big difference between what is played in England compared to other sides. It is impossible to replace Radu Drăgușin at the moment.”

Description

Tottenham have reportedly set a clear price tag for Richarlison, with local journalist Fabrício Lopes stating that the Brazilian striker could leave north London for around €20m (£17m).

That figure, equivalent to roughly R$125m, would make him one of the most expensive signings in the history of Brazilian football if Flamengo were to push ahead.

The forward, now 28, has been linked with a return to South America on several occasions, and Flamengo are once again named as the leading candidate.

Lopes explains the club are searching for a high-profile addition to their attack and have Richarlison on a shortlist that also includes Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Lazio’s Taty Castellanos.

The Rio club have already invested heavily to land Jorginho, Samuel Lino, Saúl Ñíguez and Emerson Royal in recent windows, showing they are willing to match European-level ambitions in the market.

Richarlison has scored three goals and registered one assist in nine Tottenham matches this season, a sign of steadier form compared to last term, when injuries limited him to just 24 games.

Even so, Tottenham’s valuation represents a significant outlay for any Brazilian side, and whether Flamengo are ready to match it remains uncertain.

However, the Spurs striker remains a regular feature in the Premier League and continues to be monitored by Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti. Any move away from Spurs would be notable not only for its financial scale but also for the impact on his international prospects.

The scenario leaves Richarlison as a realistic name on Flamengo’s radar, though the high costs and Premier League interest mean his future is still very much in the balance.

“He is a very rare player” – Why Tottenham want wonderkid and what he can bring Spurs

“He is a very rare player” – Why Tottenham want wonderkid and what he can bring Spurs - Sport Witness
Description

Rayan has emerged as one of the brightest young attackers in Brazil, with Tottenham among the clubs keeping a close watch. The Vasco da Gama striker has combined goals, versatility and maturity to become a standout at just 19.

The youngster is enjoying his breakout campaign in 2025, establishing himself as a key player under manager Fernando Diniz. He has already featured in 42 matches across competitions, totalling over 3,200 minutes. In that time, he has scored 12 goals and added one assist.

His productivity has been spread across tournaments. Seven goals in the league, four in the Copa do Brasil and one in the Copa Sudamericana. Those numbers underline both his importance to Vasco and his ability to perform in different contexts.

Diniz has been emphatic about the Tottenham target’s qualities, describing him as “a complete forward”. As recently covered by ESPN Brazil, he was emphatic when speaking about the young forward: “I don’t know exactly how much he is worth, but certainly today it’s at least three times more than last year.”

“Enormous game changing ability”

The coach highlighted that Rayan is tall, fast, left-footed, can shoot from distance, has improved his heading and is disciplined enough to track back and defend. “Rayan is a player with enormous game-changing ability, one of the biggest in the country. He is only 19, still learning to understand his own potential. There is a long road ahead, but he is a rare, very rare player”, Diniz said.

That versatility and quality on the ball allows him to play as a winger, a false nine or a centre-forward. His manager is convinced he already shows the maturity to push for a place in the Brazil squad, which would help a Tottenham move.

Standing 1.85m, Rayan combines physical presence with speed and a direct approach. He is explosive in transitions, comfortable running at defenders, and aggressive in pressing when out of possession.

His ability to attack space and his determination to contribute defensively make him a profile suited to the demands of European football.

Despite that progress, his situation at Vasco has been complicated by the club’s financial circumstances. European interest has grown steadily, with Porto showing concrete intent and Tottenham listed among those monitoring him closely.

Vasco renewed his contract until 2026 and set a release clause of €40m, though Brazilian reports suggest a deal could be done for €30m (£25m). For now, the club have resisted approaches, selling other players to ensure he stayed in Rio at least until January.

“One day I’ll be with the national team”

Rayan himself has tried to keep his focus on football. “I’m working hard here and one day I’ll be with the national team,” he said recently to Globo Esporte. He also praised Diniz as a father figure: “Since he arrived, he talks to me every day, he has been helping a lot.”

Such words reinforce the image of a grounded player who understands the value of development before the inevitable next step in his career.

But even before Fernando Diniz took over, former Vasco coach Fábio Carille also underlined the options Rayan offers. “I still want to work more to see if he can take the 9 role, or if I make the most of him out wide, where he has strength and instinct. But he sure knows his way around the box”, Carille explained.

His words reflected the same versatility that has since become a defining trait in the youngster’s game. At just 19, Rayan is already Vasco’s joint-top scorer in the league and one of the most productive young forwards in South America.

For Tottenham, and others following him, he represents a mix of potential and readiness. A forward with size, pace, versatility and end product, who looks increasingly likely to make the leap to Europe sooner rather than later.

Description

Dejan Kulusevski hasn’t played for Sweden since November 2024. Initially the problem was a foot injury and then he suffered the knee issue which still keeps him out.

Despite that, the Tottenham player has been joining up with Sweden’s squad during international breaks. Soaking up the atmosphere and trying to be a positive influence around the place.

In the bunch of games before he was injured, the Spurs player had been used as captain and it was expected he could take that over from Victor Lindelof full time. However, the pair seem to be in some kind of injury competition, taking it in turns to be out.

This time Kulusevski won’t be joining up with Sweden, instead the Tottenham player will stay where he is as he works to return.

Fotbollskanalen quote Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson as saying: “Kulu will not be with us this time. We all know what a heart he has for the national team. But he is in a different phase of his rehabilitation now.”

Maybe that’s a hint that things are speeding up with his return from injury. Thomas Frank said recently he didn’t want to commit to a month for the comeback.

The Swedish comments, though, may provide some hope.

Description

Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has praised Tottenham Hotspur youngster Lucas Bergvall, believing he is “amazing”.

Fotboll Skanalen cover comments from the Sweden boss today on the 19-year-old after a flying start to the season for him.

Bergvall has found himself a firm fixture in Thomas Frank’s plans at Tottenham early on. He’s already made 10 appearances in all competitions so far and impressed in them too.

He already has a goal and three assists to his name, bagging one of each in the win over West Ham and assists in the wins over Villarreal and Doncaster too.

He’s very much fulfilling his potential early on and appears to be on course to quickly establish himself as a key player at Tottenham this season. Tomasson is very pleased with that and thinks the midfielder has been brilliant.

“Dynamic and plays with power”

“He has been brilliant. He’s played really well,” he said.

“He was not in the training camps in March and June because he had been sick and injured. I have to say that he has played very well now.

“I didn’t watch the game yesterday, but I have seen the rest of his games. He has had an impact on the games; he is dynamic and plays with power. To do that at such a young age is amazing. He is doing a good job.”

Bergvall is very much a talent for the present and future, with Tottenham beating Barcelona to his signature last year.

He’s already made his debut for Sweden in December last year and added three other appearances since then too. He was out of the squad last time, though, something that raised eyebrows and questions in his homeland.

Tomasson appears to be hesitant to throw the Tottenham man into the deep end. He wants to make it clear he’s a big fan, though.

“He has done very well. Very simple: he has done very well in the last month,” he added.

“Apart from the game yesterday (against Bodø/Glimt), I have seen every minute he has played, and he has done very well.

“If you look back at his first year in England: to play so much at that age – then you are quite good. Or quite good is not the right word. He is brilliant. He’s influencing the games a lot at the moment. He creates chances, scores goals and runs deep. He also plays with a lot of physicality.”

Jens Petter Hauge is an interesting footballer and an example of not giving up. The 25-year-old currently plays for Bodø/Glimt and faced Tottenham in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

He came through the ranks at Bodø/Glimt and was highly rated as a youngster. So much so he got a move to AC Milan in 2020 and arrived with a lot of hope attached.

That transfer didn’t work out for the winger and he was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt. That didn’t go great either and he was sent to Gent before being loaned back to Bodø/Glimt.

Now there permanently, Jens Petter Hauge is getting everything back on track. He scored twice against Tottenham yesterday and is gutted not to have all three points.

Bodø/Glimt lost a lead to Thomas Frank’s side and what would have been a famous victory was turned into a draw.

After the match, Jens Petter Hauge shared his frustrations with the media.

Aftonbladet quote him as saying: Jens Petter Hauge: “It is incredibly bitter. It’s tough to sit here again with a bitter feeling. This stadium and the crowd deserved the victory.”

Bodø/Glimt have two points, having drawn both of their matches so far.

Description

Thomas Frank appears to be one of the nicest guys in football management, even if there’s a steely ambition under the wrapping. For years, as he succeeded with Brentford, the manager would speak to the Danish media and drop hints he wanted a bigger club.

Frank explained on multiple occasions that whilst he was happy to stay in England he needed to fight for titles. To be in competitions like the Champions League.

The manager got his way in the summer as Tottenham decided he was the one to replace Ange Postecoglou. Spurs were able to offer Champions league football after their Europa League victory. They’ve now picked up four points from their first two matches.

Tuesday evening saw a 2-2 draw with Bodø / Glimt in Norway, and big coverage in Scandinavia.

“The nicest man in the world”

Ståle Solbakken is the manager of the Norwegian national side and a big fan of Frank.

The feeling is mutual with Tipsbladet quoting Frank as saying: “Ståle is a man and a football coach that I have great admiration for. What he built over many years in Copenhagen was incredible. I’m really happy for him. A good colleague and a friend in the world of football.”

Norway are well placed to qualify for the World Cup, having started their qualifying campaign well.

Solbakken has time to praise the Tottenham boss: “There are two things that characterise him. He is the nicest man in the world and he is very social. I remember that we used to have lunch together, despite the fact that we were in charge of FCK and Brøndby.

“He is very open and reflective. And he is incredibly normal in relation to being a football coach. At the same time, as a coach he is very pragmatic. He is not the one who has a crystal clear playing style, but instead he adapts to the squad he has.”
