Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has apologised after footage emerged of the player appearing to inhale laughing gas.

The 27-year-old posted a video on social media last weekend that pictured him inhaling from a balloon.

The video emerged on Saturday, shortly after Bissouma had featured in Spurs' pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich. The Mali international played 45 minutes for Ange Postecoglou's side, as they lost 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"I want to apologise for these videos," he said. "This was a severe lack of judgement.

"I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously."

"We are looking into the events," a Tottenham spokesperson added after the video surfaced. "This will be dealt with as an internal matter."

Spurs will kick off the 2024/25 Premier League season against Leicester City on August 19, live on Sky Sports.

The recreational use of laughing gas, which is also referred to as NOS or nitrous oxide, has been a criminal offence in the UK since 2023 and is listed as a Class C drug.

Kane backs Solanke to shine at Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has tipped Domininc Solanke to shine in north London following his £65m transfer from Bournemouth.

Solanke, 26, scored 19 times for the Cherries last season and will join Ange Postecoglou's side ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

"It should be great. Dom is a great player," said Kane. "He plays with high intensity, high speed. For sure he'll get chances in this team with the way Ange plays.

"I think it's a really good signing. I saw him in the dressing room and I wished him all the best and of course I hope he has a great season."

Tottenham have completed a £65m deal with Bournemouth for striker Dominic Solanke.

The deal will see Spurs pay an initial £55m with £10m possible to follow in bonuses.

Solanke has signed a six-year contract until 2030 and will be in attendance for Tottenham's pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Sky Sports News understands 26-year-old Solanke had a £65m clause in his contract if a big Premier League club came in for him.

Liverpool will also pocket a sizeable sell-on from a clause in the deal when Solanke joined Bournemouth in 2019. He played for the Reds 27 times during the 2017/18 campaign.

Solanke - who scored 19 Premier League goals last season - missed Bournemouth's pre-season friendly with Rayo Vallecano last weekend due to a foot injury.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou highlighted the need for another centre-forward option when he told football.london: "You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it's going be a striker that fits that mould.

"It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us."

After Solanke's departure, Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: "After Dominic's performances for us - in particular his impressive 2023/24 season - it has come as no surprise that a team of Tottenham's calibre has shown an interest.

"This move has developed quickly but Dominic has remained professional throughout and I'd like to thank him for that.

"His development since arriving in 2019 is a credit to his work rate and endeavour, as well as the platform AFC Bournemouth gives young talent to grow.

"We're pleased to secure a club-record fee for Dominic and he also leaves with everyone's sincere well wishes at AFC Bournemouth."

Analysis: Solanke an ideal fit for Ange's Spurs

Sky Sports' Peter Smith:

"Dominic Solanke could be a game-changer for Ange Postecoglou's side.

"Spurs have been crying out for a centre-forward signing since Harry Kane was sold last summer. Richarlison and Heung-Min Son both played that role, with the other moving to the left wing, at different times last season. But all Spurs fans know Son is better coming in off the flank, while Richarlison's form and fitness has not been reliable.

"With Spurs back in European competition and looking to push for a high finish they needed a high-quality alternative. Solanke looks ideal.

"He scored 19 goals for Bournemouth last season and at 26, the former Chelsea and Liverpool forward is hitting his prime.

"He is a proper box finisher, with 17 strikes last season coming from inside the area and with Spurs ranking fourth in the Premier League for crosses per game in 2023/24, Solanke can be the man to finish off those moves."

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The deal is an initial loan with an option to buy for £35m.

West Ham had an agreement earlier this summer for a loan with an option to buy Todibo for €32m [£27m], but it was delayed as the player was believed to be waiting for a deal to join Juventus.

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten flew to Nice on Thursday after hearing a move was possible because Juventus could not find an agreement.

Steidten then finalised the loan with an option deal. He and Todibo flew back on Friday, with the 24-year-old then having a medical.

"I am really excited to be signing for West Ham United," the centre-back told the club's official website. "It is a dream come true to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world.

"This is an amazing opportunity for me, at a club with huge ambition, who want to really make progress under the new head coach.

"It feels like the right time to be coming to West Ham, in the heart of London, with an amazing, passionate fan-base. I'm so excited to pull on the West Ham shirt, and play at the London Stadium in the Premier League."

Steidten added: "It's no secret that Jean-Clair is a player we've been tracking for some time, so we're delighted to have got this signing over the line ahead of the start of the new season.

"He's got proven pedigree in European football, especially in France, where he has shone in recent years, showing all of his qualities as one of the finest ball-playing centre-halves in Ligue 1.

"There was huge interest from across Europe for his signature this summer, and we're once again indebted to the board for backing us to bring in a player who is approaching the peak years of his career."

Todibo is West Ham's seventh signing of the summer under new manager Julen Lopetegui. Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Wes Foderingham have also joined the club.

When does the summer transfer window close?

The 2024 summer transfer window officially closes on August 30 at 11pm UK time in the Premier League and 11.30pm in Scotland.

The Premier League has brought forward Deadline Day to link up with the other major leagues in Europe. The closing dates were set following discussions with the leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

Tottenham have agreed a £65m deal with Bournemouth for striker Dominic Solanke, who has now completed his medical.

The deal will see Spurs pay an initial £55m with £10m possible to follow in bonuses. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has targeted centre-forward depth this summer.

He will sign a six-year contract and is expected to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday for a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

The game will see Spurs' former target man and captain - Harry Kane - return to the club for the first time, alongside Eric Dier.

Sky Sports News also understands 26-year-old Solanke had a £65m clause in his contract if a big Premier League club came in for him.

Liverpool could pocket themselves £10m in additional transfer funds if Spurs secure the signature of Solanke thanks to a sell-on clause. He played for the Reds 27 times during the 2017/18 campaign.

Solanke - who scored 19 Premier League goals last season - missed Bournemouth's pre-season friendly with Rayo Vallecano last weekend due to a foot injury.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this week, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola described Solanke as his key player.

"It's obvious, Dom is the most important player for us. But the numbers are there," he said.

"It's not [just] about the goals, he helps us a lot in the build-up, the press. He doesn't have big weaknesses for us, he makes us a much better team.

"I feel like he's happy here. We cannot control everything, we don't know how the market is going to finish but whatever happens he is a top professional."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou highlighted the need for another centre forward option when he told football.london: "You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it's going be a striker that fits that mould.

"It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us."

Analysis: Solanke would be an ideal fit for Ange's Spurs

Sky Sports' Peter Smith:

"Tottenham are chasing Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke and he could be a game-changer for Ange Postecoglou's side.

Manchester United: Lord Sebastian Coe says Old Trafford development 'could easily be the largest regeneration project in Europe'

Lord Sebastian Coe says Manchester United’s Old Trafford development "could easily be the largest regeneration project in Europe".

Lord Coe, who is a former athlete and the ex-chair of the organising committee for the 2012 London Olympics, was appointed chair of the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force earlier this year.

At the end of last month, the task force reached an initial conclusion that a new stadium build for United would be a more transformative option than redeveloping the existing ground - with a new 100,000-seater stadium reportedly the recommendation.

"Many of the other judgements are for the football club," Lord Coe told Sky Sports News.

"But I think what we could get to is a regeneration project that is worthy of the name and could easily be the largest regeneration project in Europe.

"I've got people like Andy Burnham, who is a great mayor of Manchester, other elected officials and the universities [alongside me on the task force].

"It's a proper board and we're not just looking at the viability of a football stadium. That's important, but in a way it takes me back to the London Olympic years because I know that a sporting venue - properly structured with thought and drive behind it - can transform local communities."

What a new stadium build might mean for Man Utd

A new 100,000-seater stadium build would create a stadium that is the largest in the UK.

Four meetings have taken place around the feasibility of the project, which would see the stadium built on club-owned land adjacent to Old Trafford and elevate the community.

While it is premature to suggest that this is the only direction United will take, it is the favoured route to create a new world-class venue with surrounding benefits.

The club own an expansive amount of land around Old Trafford which they feel is under-utilised and could be repurposed for housing, leisure, business, education, driving investment and jobs, and improving the environment.

United have been researching some of the best stadium regeneration projects across sport, particularly those that have sparked a drastic transformation in the community like SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the venue in which they suffered a pre-season defeat to Arsenal.

The club held several meetings with the team behind that development, which is privately funded, in the lead-up to their tour to learn from the project

Collette Roche, United's chief operating officer, also visited the Bernabeu earlier this year to extract lessons from Real Madrid's approach. The Chicago Bears' Burnham Park Project, where a new stadium will serve as a catalyst for the regeneration of the wider area, is being studied.

United have also spent time engaging around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley.

Financing is one of the key considerations of the task force, and a wide variety of potential private funding sources will be explored. There could be opportunities for a public-private partnership to power the regeneration of the area.

A full recommendation from the task force will be made towards the end of the year following a period of consultation with key stakeholders, which includes fans and local residents.

Cole: LA's SoFi Stadium great example for Man Utd

Andy Cole said the SoFi Stadium's regeneration of Inglewood can be mirrored in Manchester with a new or redeveloped world-class ground at Old Trafford.

Speaking of his experience at United's opening game of their pre-season tour against Arsenal, the former Manchester United striker said: "What left the biggest impression on me is how the stadium has been central to the rise of Inglewood.

"I have been coming to LA for years and that area of the city was never previously somewhere you would choose to go as a visitor.

"To see how it has become such a thriving neighbourhood, with the SoFi at the heart of it, is an inspirational example of inner-city regeneration.

"I don't draw this comparison lightly, but you can see a parallel with the opportunity back home in Manchester. A new or redeveloped stadium at Old Trafford could be the focal point for revitalisation of the surrounding area.

"Manchester United fans and everyone in the north of England deserves a truly world-class stadium, and SoFi sets the standard to aim for.

"This is the kind of arena the best players in the world want to be playing in and fans want to be experiencing."
