Tottenham have won five of their last six Premier League home games against Leicester (L1), scoring at least three goals in all five of those victories.

Following a 1-1 draw in August, Leicester are looking to avoid defeat in both Premier League meetings with Spurs in a single campaign for the first time since their title winning season of 2015-16. Back then, the sides drew 1-1 in August, before Leicester won 1-0 away in January.

There have been 130 goals in 35 Premier League meetings between Tottenham and Leicester, the highest goals-per-game ratio of any fixture to have been played at least 30 times (3.71).

Since the start of December, only Southampton (8) have lost more Premier League games than Tottenham Hotspur (7), while the Saints are also the only side to concede more goals (25) than Spurs have (22).

Leicester City have lost their last seven Premier League matches and could equal their league record for consecutive defeats in this match, losing eight games in a row between March and April 2001.

Tottenham have lost their last three Premier League matches, last losing four in a row in April/May 2024. They didn’t lose four in a row at all between 2005 and 2023, with Ange Postecoglou potentially becoming only the second Spurs manager to lose four consecutively twice, alongside David Pleat in 2003-04.

Since Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of Leicester for the first time on 3 December, only Brentford (176) and Southampton (169) have faced more shots than the Foxes (154). The 17.1 shots they’ve faced per game under the Dutchman is still marginally lower than they did under Steve Cooper this season (17.6).

Leicester’s Ruud van Nistelrooy is only the fourth manager in Premier League history to suffer a run of seven consecutive defeats within his first 10 games at a club, along with Alan Ball at Man City in 1995 (8 in a row), Mick McCarthy at Sunderland in 2003/2005 (10 in a row) and Terry Connor at Wolves in 2012 (7 in a row).

Only Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (62) has created more chances in the Premier League this season than Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski (56). The Swede has also scored in four of his last eight games, scoring four goals, although he’s ended on the losing side in three of those games.

Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk is the first goalkeeper in Premier League history to concede multiple goals in each of his first five appearances, shipping 11 goals in total. The last Foxes keeper to concede 2+ goals in six games in a row was Ron-Robert Zieler in the 2016-17 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur have recalled striker Dane Scarlett from his loan spell with Championship side Oxford United.

Scarlett, 20, joined the U's in August and scored four goals in 20 Championship appearances.

Last week, Oxford announced the signing of Tom Bradshaw from Millwall, a striker whom new boss Gary Rowett had previously worked with at the Lions.

Bradshaw's addition could have been seen by Spurs as another name in front of their player getting minutes.

Rather than add Scarlett to their current ranks, Spurs are said to be keen on finding another loan for the striker before the transfer deadline.

Scarlett's loan at Oxford was the third of his career having previously spent time at Portsmouth in League One and also Ipswich Town last season.

The academy graduate has made 17 senior appearances for Tottenham.

BBC Radio Oxford's Oxford United commentator Jerome Sale:

Scarlett had a difficult start with Oxford and was just not getting the game time that he or Spurs would've wanted, but he did score goals which might yet prove to be crucial if United are to survive in the Championship.

Scarlett was a good performer when he got game time and his four goals were all very well taken, actually quite impressive.

His overall contribution in games actually got better as his time went on, he started to press more, and the work rate that has been questioned elsewhere certainly could not be questioned since Gary Rowett came in.

It sounds like he is going out on loan somewhere else and that team will benefit.

I would add there is not devastation at the decision by Spurs at Oxford, there is more disappointment as they definitely wanted to keep Scarlett.

It remains to be seen whether the U's will look to directly replaced him, my hunch is that they will not unless something extraordinary presents itself, owing to the fact that they now have Bradshaw in.

That signing was probably the final straw as far as Spurs were concerned for their man getting game time.

Oxford also have Ole Romeny, and are heavily linked with Hull City's Ryan Longman, although they are over the top of their 25-man squad limit as it currently stands.

TSG Hoffenheim have lost all four of their meetings with English sides in all competitions, losing twice to Liverpool in qualifying for the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League, and twice to Manchester City in the group stages of the Champions League the following season.

Tottenham have won just one of their last six meetings with German sides in all competitions (D1 L4), though it was in their last such match against Eintracht Frankfurt in October 2022 (3-2).

TSG Hoffenheim scored in each of their first 18 UEFA Europa League matches between 2017 and 2020 but they’ve since failed to score in five of their last 10, including each of their last two.

Spurs are winless in their last three UEFA Europa League games (D2 L1), last having a longer winless run in major European competition between February and October 2018 in the Champions League (five).

Archie Gray has started and played the full 90 minutes in all six of Tottenham’s UEFA Europa League games this season, the first English player to do so in a single campaign aged 18 or younger and second overall, after Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (six across 2018-19/2019-20).

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou says his players struggled with some of the changes he made before their 3-2 loss at Everton - their seventh defeat in ten Premier League games.

'We want to do it the Arsenal way'

Renee Slegers is targeting silverware after being named as Arsenal's permanent head coach.

The 35-year-old took interim charge in October following Jonas Eidevall's resignation, winning 10 and drawing one of her 11 matches at the helm.

Slegers has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract until the end of the 2025-26 season.

"Until the end of May, there's four competitions we're active in and we want to do our best and ultimately win trophies," Slegers said.

"We want to do it the Arsenal way. Something that we want to do, that we get enjoyment from, that we feel like we're developing and progressing, and a beautiful product to deliver to the outside world."

Team news – Little returns for Arsenal, Palace make one change

Renee Slegers makes one change to her side in her first game as Arsenal's permanent head coach.

The Gunners' FA Cup tie last weekend was postponed meaning they have not played since the 1-0 win at Liverpool in December.

'Hard to make a case for Everton winning'

Sean Dyche was accused of being too defensive-minded before he got sacked last week, but Everton got a little bit stuck between being hard to beat and pushing for a goal when they lost to Aston Villa on Wednesday.

It meant they were quite open and, although David Moyes' side had chances, Villa really should have won by more than one goal.

I think it will be a similar story here, where Everton's approach will be different because they are at home.

If they were away, I think they would be happy to sit in and soak up pressure, but they might be a little bit more expansive at Goodison Park, and I don't see it ending well for them.

It's hard to make a case for Everton to beat Tottenham, even though Ange Postecoglou's side are on a poor run too.

Antonin Kinsky did not have a great game in goal against Arsenal but it was a disappointing display by the whole team.

Spurs have fallen so low in the table - 15th - that they need a win, and quickly. This might be the boost they need, although I am not convinced they will keep a clean sheet, even against Everton.

Sutton's prediction: 1-3

Tottenham need to protect the two centre-halfs that are not used to playing as a pairing, one of them that is not used to playing as a centre-half. The two full-backs are pushing on, leaving the two centre-halfs far too exposed. They should be playing two defensive midfielders to give them some protection.

The best performance I’ve seen from Tottenham this season was away against Manchester City - offensively they were very good, but defensively they sat in a deep, low block as a unit, they defended as a team, they moved up and down the pitch as a unit, and they hit city in the second half on the counter attack.

It’s not being overly pragmatic, but they way you change it is protecting your weaknesses. His way (Ange Postecoglou) of doing that is attack. He protects his weaknesses by going forward on the front foot.

But they couldn’t do it against Tamworth, then they went and did exactly the same thing and you’re not going to be able to do it against Arsenal, are you? You look at the plethora of attacking quality they’ve got, they’ve got pace, players that can hurt teams.

Scoring goals is not a problem, you’ve just got to be more pragmatic in the way you approach the defensive side of it.

Fans have been laying tributes and taking pictures of the 'Holy Trinity' statue, with Denis Law at its centre.

One of them was David Carey, who first started watching Manchester United in the wake of the Munich crash in 1958.

"Denis Law has to be in the top four or five players in the club's history," he said.

"He was a brilliant player. The crowd just loved him. He really drew them into it with the way he approached the game.

"Arm in the air when he scored a goal. He was really charismatic."

'Sels giving Forest stability & confidence' - Nuno

The form of goalkeeper Matz Sels is giving Nottingham Forest confidence, says manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Sels has kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season as Forest sit third.

"When the team improves, all the players improve so Matz is one of the cases that he's continuing improving, more confidence, more vocal," said Nuno.

"I think he's giving us what we need, stability, confidence, solving problems and fantastic saves that keep us in the game, but improving. I'm giving credit to him but also the small group of goalkeepers - all of them are working very hard and this reflects on Matz's performance.

"I think the job of the goalkeeper is to give confidence to the team and I think Matz gives us that. His position on the pitch is always accurate and that is a big advantage to reduce the angles and spaces to the opponents."

Bad signs for Southampton

Southampton are bottom of the table with just six points. They need to start winning games and quick if they avoid to dropping straight back to the Championship.

Their sequence of 18 Premier League away games without a win is the longest in the top flight since Aston Villa's run of 21 ended in September 2019.

They have scored just 13 league goals this season - that is the lowest of any side in the top five English divisions. Only seven teams in Premier League history have scored fewer than 13 goals after 21 matches.

Starting to turn it around today may be difficult too.

They are winless in their past 23 Premier League games against sides that start the day in the top four and they have failed to win in their past 15 top-flight matches on a Sunday.

Records are there to be broken...

Will Man Utd secure season first?

Remarkably Manchester United are yet to record back-to-back wins in the Premier League this season. That is a real sign of their troubles.

The last time they did was the final two games of last season, with the second of those victories coming against Brighton.

Tightening up at the back and producing better first-half performances is going to be key to turning that statistic around.

Ruben Amorim's side have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past 11 matches in all competitions and they have trailed at half-time in six top-flight fixtures this term, second only to Leicester.

Can Moyes fix Everton's attacking woes?

Everton

Everton have lost their past three Premier League games without scoring. If that happens today it would be their first run of four defeats without scoring since February to March 2022.

Their goals issue is deeper than that though. They have failed to score in nine of their past 11 top-flight matches and have scored just five league goals since the start of November, and two of those were own goals by Wolves' Craig Dawson.

The Toffees are only the fourth side to fail to score in 12 of their opening 20 Premier League games of a season.

Creating chances is one of the big issues. They have had just 66 shots on target in their 20 fixtures so far, the third lowest tally in the top flight.

Can Tottenham and Postecoglou turn tide?

It isn't just Everton that are struggling. Tottenham have won just five of 17 matches in all competitions since beating Aston Villa 4-1 on 3 November. They have lost eight games and drawn four in that time.

It's been rough going in the Premier League, with their only victory in their past nine league games a 5-0 success against bottom side Southampton.

Eleven defeats after 21 top-flight matches is their joint most at this stage of a Premier League campaign. Only the current bottom three have lost more often this season.

Don't get too excited if they take the lead too. Only Fulham have lost more points from winning positions this season than Tottenham's 18.

Former Tottenham midfielder Garry Brooke, who was twice part of FA Cup-winning Spurs teams, has died at the age of 64.

The Premier League club said on social media, external that it was "deeply saddened" to learn of Brooke's passing on Saturday morning "following a lengthy battle with illness".

It added: "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly difficult time."

Brooke came on as a substitute in Tottenham's FA Cup final victories over Manchester City and QPR in 1981 and 1982 respectively.

Everton have won just one of their last 24 Premier League games against Tottenham (D11 L12), beating them 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September 2020.

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League away games against Everton, though have won just three of those (D8). They’re looking to complete the league double over the Toffees for the first time since 2017-18.

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park is the most drawn specific fixture in Premier League history, with 17 of the 32 meetings ending level. Each of the last five has been drawn, with no exact fixture ever finishing level six times a row in the competition.

Everton have lost their last three Premier League matches without scoring a goal – they haven’t lost four in a row without finding the net since February/March 2022.

Tottenham Hotspur have lost eight of their 31 Premier League games under Ange Postecoglou when they’ve scored the first goal (26%), the highest percentage of any permanent Spurs manager.

Since the start of November, Everton are the lowest scorers in the Premier League with just five goals in 11 games, and two of those were Craig Dawson own goals in a 4-0 win over Wolves. They’ve failed to score in 12 games this season, one of only four teams to do so in their opening 20 games of a season, along with Norwich in 2021-22 (14), Southampton in 2003-04 (12) and Derby in 2007-08 (12).

Both Everton and Spurs have lost their first two Premier League matches of 2025. The Toffees have lost their first three league games in a year six times before – doing so in 2022 and 2023 most recently – while Spurs have only done so twice in their history (in consecutive years in 1993 and 1994).

Among managers to take charge of at least 50 Premier League matches, Ange Postecoglou’s games have seen the most goals per game on average (3.6), with 210 goals scored in his 59 matches as Spurs manager so far (117 for, 93 against).

Returning Everton manager David Moyes won 2-1 against Tottenham Hotspur last season as West Ham manager – the last manager to beat Ange Postecoglou in the league with two different teams was Takahiro Shimotaira in the Japanese J1 League, winning with Kashiwa Reysol and Yokohama FC.

Kick It Out 'concern' over Tamworth’s Chris Wreh

Kick It Out have released a statement supporting Tamworth forward Chris Wreh, who was racially abused online following the FA Cup third round defeat to Tottenham.

Wreh has since refused to play for the National League side as he felt the club had not supported him enough after the incident.

The statement reads:

“We support Chris Wreh’s decision to take time out from playing following the vile racist abuse he received online after Tamworth’s FA Cup match against Tottenham on Sunday.

"It’s concerning that Chris does not feel he has had the right level of support when faced with discrimination. When this happens, it’s vital that it’s taken seriously and players have the backing of their club, and from authorities so that the case can be investigated.

"His decision to call out this abuse was a selfless act to highlight the level and regularity of racism that players face online. He should be commended and, most importantly, supported for taking this action rather than being told to keep it internal. It’s a collective responsibility for all of football and social media companies to end this abuse.”

Barnes out for Magpies, Cunha back for Wolves

Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes is expected to be out for a month after sustaining a thigh injury against Bromley.

The Magpies will continue to assess Joe Willock, Sven Botman, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak, all of whom were absentees for Sunday's FA Cup tie.

Wolves welcome back Matheus Cunha following a two-game ban, though the Brazilian is still recovering from the issue which forced him off against Tottenham on 29 December and may not be able to play 90 minutes.

Toti Gomes remains sidelined but Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson return to contention and new signing Emmanuel Agbadou could make his first Premier League appearance.

Chalobah absent for Eagles

Crystal Palace will be without defender Trevoh Chalobah who was recalled by parent club Chelsea today, for tonight's game against Leicester.

Every Palace player impacted by last week's flu outbreak has recovered, including Dean Henderson, Tyrick Mitchell, Maxence Lacroix and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Will Hughes has overcome a foot problem and is in contention to start.

Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard is fit again and could take the place of Wout Faes.

The Foxes have no fresh injury concerns.

'Man Utd are trying to find the right way'

Southampton boss Ivan Juric on team news: "Flynn Downes trained today. He is okay and we will see if he can play later. Everybody else is fit."

On Manchester United: "They have changed the manager and the style of play, playing 3-4-3 formation like [Amorim played] at Sporting. They are trying to find the right way".

On building on the FA Cup win over Swansea: "It was a good game. We did some good things and there's things to improve. It will be different against Manchester United but we are preparing well. We will see."

'The deal isn't quite done'

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna on potentially signing Jadene Philogene: "If it's possible to bring him to the club we'll do so. What's really important is that Jaden has shown a desire to come here and join our football club. He's had a lot of attention from Premier League clubs but he wants to come here.

"It's not an easy deal for us to do. Aston Villa need to get the best deal they can, so does our club and the player.

"He's a player we'd like to get at the football club but the deal isn't quite done."

'It's best for Dibling to stay'

Southampton boss Ivan Juric on playing Tyler Dibling up front: "I think he is better when he plays further forward because he does not need to do as much defensive work. He can score one v one, so for now it [playing upfront] is good for him."

On whether he thinks Dibling should stay at Southampton amid transfer links: "Absolutely, because he needs to play and improve, so it is best for him to stay here of course."

On the future of Kyle Walker-Peters, who is out of contract this summer: "I don't want him to leave. He is a very good player for me. I will be happy if he stays."

'We need time to build a different way of playing'

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on how different he is expecting the game to be against a team like Southampton where his side are expected to take the initiative: "The most difficult thing to train in one team is the way you build with the ball and in the final third the way you create situations. That is what a big team should do very well and for that we also need time to train. We have had for a long time a lack of goals.

"We don't spend a lot of times during games in the last third with the ball - we did it against Nottingham Forest but we need to improve in that part of the game. I understand in this moment it is ok to play like that against Liverpool and Arsenal - against Arsenal we waited for the opportunity but in the future you cannot play like that and I know that but we need time to build a different way of playing. In the future we are going to focus a lot on that."

'I don't feel pressure, I just want to win'

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on whether the pressure of the club is why players have underperformed in recent years: "Of course you feel the pressure of the club but in this moment, I don't feel that pressure.

"In the last years we haven't won the league. In the past here, if you didn't win the league one year you would have to win it the next. I don't feel that pressure.

"We have to bring that pressure to us because outside the fans are amazing. I don't feel that pressure, I just want to win. To feel that pressure in the future we need to win - we need to win titles and we need to win games."

'Southampton game will teach me more about players'

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says he will learn more about his players during tomorrow’s Premier League match with Southampton than he did from recent encouraging performances against Liverpool and Arsenal.

United followed up their draw at Anfield by knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup despite having Diogo Dalot sent off during the second-half at Emirates Stadium.

It has generated a positive atmosphere around Old Trafford after a run of four straight defeats over the Christmas period.

However, Amorim is aware his team cannot play on the counter-attack at home to a Southampton side that has won just once in the league this season and is eight points adrift of second-bottom Leicester.

“This next game will teach me more about my players than the last two,” he said.

“There is no expectation in the last two games. Against Arsenal we waited for the opportunity. In the future we can’t play like that and I know that. Fans will expect more tomorrow. We have to deliver.”

Amorim refused to answer a question about the future of Marcus Rashford, who has not played for United since 12 December and has been linked with moves away from the club before the transfer window closes.

'In terms of firepower, Moyes is armed with a water pistol'

David Moyes is back in charge of Everton and has a really tough job on his hands. In terms of firepower, he is armed with a water pistol.

He has taken over a team which did not score enough goals under Sean Dyche. That was their biggest issue, and it is hard to see how Moyes can solve it with the same players that Dyche had.

With Jordan Pickford, James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite, Everton have got players who can hold them together at the back, but Moyes' conundrum is to increase their attacking threat, and that is going to be a struggle, especially in these early days.

I have got Aston Villa's Emi Martinez in my Fantasy team, and I see him as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, but they always seem to concede silly goals.

So it is possible to get at Villa, I just don't see Everton managing it.
