Sergio Reguilon is now attracting interest from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce

Tottenham Hotspur made some radical changes to their squad over the summer transfer window.

Apart from making some astute additions, the Lilywhites did a brilliant job of offloading the majority of the deadwood and the players who were on the fringes of Ange Postecoglou last season.

Players such as Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal, and some more, either left the club on loan or permanently. However, one of Spurs’ players who was not able to find a new home during the past summer transfer window was Sergio Reguilon.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs, Sergio Reguilon had options to leave Tottenham during the summer transfer window but the club ‘made it difficult’ for him to exit, as they wanted either a permanent departure or a loan with an obligation to buy in 2025.

Spurs signed Reguilon from Real Madrid in 2020, but he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular. The constant chopping and changing of managers hasn’t helped his cause, with the six-cap Spain international managing a total of only 67 appearances throughout his stint at the club thus far, scoring two goals and supplying eight assists for his side.

The left-back spent time out on loan at Manchester United and Brentford respectively last season. Having not been included in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia and the Europa League group-stages squad, it became clear that the 27-year-old doesn’t find himself in Big Ange’s plans. Jose Mourinho had signed the Spaniard as the manager of Spurs four summers ago, and he now wants to be reunited with the player at Fenerbahce.

Hopefully, the Turkish club intensify their interest and sign Reguilon—either on loan or permanently.

Tottenham look to exploit weakened rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby

The ongoing international break is turning out to be a nightmare for Tottenham Hotspur’s north London rivals, Arsenal.

Martin Odegaard, the Gunners skipper, picked up a knock during the 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium before the break. He was considered doubtful for Norway’s game against Kazakhstan in the UEFA Nations League on Friday, but the creative midfielder started and completed the full 90 minutes.

Elsewhere, however, Riccardo Calafiori—one of Arsenal’s summer signings—suffered a bizarre injury in Italy’s 3-1 win over France in Paris in a UEFA Nations League fixture. After being tackled cleanly by Italy defender Alessandro Bastoni, France winger Ousmane Dembele took a tumble and his studs caught the back of Calafiori’s leg. It was a freak accident that required medical attention, and the Arsenal man was withdrawn after 71 minutes.

Tottenham plan to exploit Arsenal’s struggles owing to injury problems. They have actually played some scintillating football across the opening three Premier League games but failed to get the deserved results. Bayern Munich superstar Kingsley Coman had reportedly asked to leave the club towards the end of the transfer window and as per Fichajes (h/t Caught Offside), the Frenchman’s entourage was approached by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Although all the clubs including Spurs declared an interest in bringing him in before Deadline Day, they failed to materialise their enquiries with formal offers. As it turned out, Coman turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia and will be staying at Bayern Munich in his bid to play regularly.

His desire to leave Bavaria was driven by the motivation to nail down a starting berth elsewhere. It is indeed surprising to see that Tottenham did not look to get his signing across the line as the Frenchman would have been a solid addition in a relatively understaffed right flank.

Coman also would have been a significant upgrade over Dejan Kulusevski. While the Swede is not bad by any means, a player who has won 11 league titles across spells with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich would have left Ange Postecoglou with a big selection headache.

The winger’s situation seems to have cooled down for the moment but the pot could yet boil in the winter if his role under Vincent Kompany does not show any signs of improvement despite a busier than usual fixture calendar this season as a result of the new Champions League format as well as the FIFA Club World Cup next July.

It remains to be seen if Spurs would reignite interest in his signing in January and it goes without saying that the 28-year-old’s capture could make them serious contenders to earn a top four finish this season.

Tottenham opposed to reduction in ticket prices in UEFA competitions

Tottenham Hotspur are set to take part in the UEFA Europa League this season with their campaign set to get underway in a couple of weeks with the visit of Azerbaijani side Qarabag to north London.

In the build-up to UEFA’s club competitions, Europe’s principal organisation for football has decided to reduce the maximum ticket caps for away supporters at stadiums. The amount has been slashed to €60 for Champions League fixtures, €40 for Europa League fixtures and €20 for the Conference League with further drops anticipated next season.

Tottenham are understood to be opposed to the move, as per The Telegraph, although the rejected claims that a formal voting process was held to ratify the decision.

The club released the following statement in the aftermath of rumours regarding their stance on ticket pricing:

“It is factually incorrect to state that there was a vote on this matter at the UEFA Club Competitions Committee. It is therefore entirely inaccurate to say that the Club voted against ticket price caps.”

When it comes to ticket prices, it is arguable as to whether Tottenham are in the right or wrong here when considering the club’s viewpoint but also that of the fans. While there would be no black-or-white outcome, there are still a number of possibilities which present themselves.

From Tottenham’s perspective, there has been a lucrative investment in building a new stadium and it is understandable why the Lilywhites would want to charge a premium, particularly to the away supporters who are travelling to support their respective teams.

But on the flipside, Spurs’ fans will also have to be forced to pay through their noses despite spending a significant amount on travelling away from London to watch their matches.
