Son Heung-min is ‘set to leave Tottenham’ this summer after becoming a key target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League, according to reports.

The South Korean has been at Spurs for the last decade, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists across 454 games for the north London club.

Son is a hugely popular player at Tottenham, having recently helped them end their 17-year wait for a trophy by clinching the Europa League title.

But it seems that the Spurs captain is set to leave in the current summer transfer window after The Telegraph dropped a huge update on Tuesday.

Why have Spurs decided to sell Son Heung-min?

The newspaper reports that Son is set for an exit because Spurs wish to ‘generate transfer funds’ and ‘reshape their squad’ for the 2025-26 season.

Son, who can operate as a left winger or centre-forward, is wanted by several teams from Saudi Arabia and Spurs are keen to cash in on him.

The 32-year-old only has one year left on his deal and Spurs would rather sell him now and generate a fee than lose him as a free agent in 2026.

Son conjured up seven goals and 10 assists across 30 Premier League games in the 2024-25 campaign under head coach Ange Postecoglou.

He was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for 2021 and landed the Premier League Golden Boot in 2022.

Son has been crowned Tottenham Hotspur Player of the Season on three occasions and also helped the team to runner-up finishes in the Champions League and Carabao Cup in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

Son was left incredibly emotional after helping the club win the Europa League in May with Spurs’ attacking superstar spotted in floods of tears.

‘Let’s say I’m a legend – why not?’ Son told TNT Sports after the victory over Manchester United in the final.

‘Seventeen years – nobody has done it, so let’s say with amazing players, [I am] probably a legend of the club.

‘This is what I’ve always dreamed for. Today is the day it happened. I am the happiest man in the world.’

Tottenham boss Postecoglou also lauded Son, the club’s longest serving player, after the Europa League final win over United.

‘We’ve had some unbelievable champion footballers at this club – Harry [Kane] is a prime example – and they haven’t had a day like this,’ Postecoglou said.

‘I wanted a day like this for Sonny because he has done everything he can in the last 10 years to try and get this feeling and for some reason it hasn’t worked.’

Son’s 10-year spell at Tottenham now looks set to end on a high with a trophy.

It’s less than a fortnight since Ange Postecoglou told nearly a quarter of a million Tottenham fans during the parade to celebrate their Europa League victory in Bilbao: ‘All the best television series, season three is better than season two.’

The 59-year-old former Celtic manager clearly wasn’t paying attention if he watched Game of Thrones as episode nine of the third season, The Rains of Castamere, sees leading character Robb Stark, his pregnant wife Talisa, his mother and top soldiers attend a celebration where there is singing and drinking galore – just as there was on the Tottenham High Road – only for them to be slaughtered in the Red Wedding bloodbath.

According to reports swirling around the club, Daniel Levy and his advisors are about to, metaphorically at least, plunge their knives into the back of the unsuspecting Postecoglou by sacking the Australian, who delivered on his proud statement that he always wins a trophy in his second season in charge by sending Manchester United to defeat in Spain.

Spurs may have finished 17th in the Premier League after losing 22 games during an injury-plagued campaign but Postecoglou insists he sacrificed domestic results to make the club relevant again after years of consistently finishing in the top four but failing to win a trophy since the 2008 League Cup. Fair dinkum, mate.

Big Ange was a general 4/7 on Sunday to be in charge of Spurs next season but could be out of the door by the end of the week and he’s out to 2/1 with bet365 to keep his job.

Thomas Frank favourite to become new Spurs boss

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has reportedly held talks with Levy and is the 4/5 favourite with the same firm to be his replacement. If Tottenham do appoint a 14th manager in 24 years he is likely to follow those before him by having one arm tied behind his back and the best price of 6/1 with Sporting Index and SpreadEx for a top-four finish next season looks way off the mark.

Just as it appeared Tottenham have finally ditched their ‘Spursy’ tag they are on the brink of grabbing it back again.

French Open odds

Eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti can reach the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros by beating American Frances Tiafoe on the Paris clay after defeating Holger Rune in four sets.

Musetti reached the last four at Madrid and Rome after progressing to the final in Monte Carlo earlier this year and was a bronze medalist in the Paris Olympics. He is 11/4 with Ladbrokes and Coral to win three sets to one and is 6/5 with BoyleSports to win by more than 6.5 games in this match.

Meanwhile Iga Swiatek, the Queen of Roland Garros after winning four French Open titles in the past five years, entered this year’s tournament in poor form and it appeared the defence of her crown would be over when she lost the first set in her fourth-round match with Elena Rybakina.

But Swiatek is back to somewhere near her glorious best after a recovering to register a stunning 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.

She can beat Elina Svitolina in the deciding set to reach the semi-finals at 3/1 with Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill and many others.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to discover this week his Tottenham fate and is at ‘extreme risk’ of being sacked despite ending the club’s trophy drought.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy will finally come to a decision on Postecoglou’s future this week after returning from his summer break.

Postecoglou led Tottenham to their first trophy in 17 years as Spurs won the Europa League, beating Premier League rivals Manchester United in the final.

Spurs’ impressive European run was in stark contract to their domestic form as they stumped to a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.

Losing 22 of 38 league games will have cost Postecoglou his job if Tottenham fell short in Europe but the club’s Europa League win has complicated matters.

Some Spurs fans would be stunned and disappointed if Postecoglou was axed given he is the first Tottenham manager since Juande Ramos in 2008 to lift a trophy.

But others cannot look past the team’s disastrous Premier League form and believe a summer change is needed for Spurs to justify their place in next season’s Champions League.

Postecoglou, for what it’s worth, is keen to stay at the club, telling fans at the victory parade that ‘season three is always better than season two’.

The 59-year-old, speaking to ABC’s Australian Story while spending time with his family, also insisted the Europa League win must just be the start for Spurs.

‘I didn’t want us to just enjoy the moment,’ he said. ‘I also wanted us to think about what’s next, you know, don’t settle for this.

‘We’ve got a taste of it now. My players have got a taste for it. The club’s got a taste for it. Well, let’s make sure we’re back here again.’

But Levy could of course decide to sack Postecoglou this week, with Tottenham already holding talks with fellow Premier League managers Marco Silva and Thomas Frank.

The Fulham and Brentford bosses have emerged as the bookmakers’ favourites to replace Postecoglou but Joe Cole has tipped Michael Carrick for a return to the club.

Carrick, manager of Championship side Middlesbrough since 2022, spent two years at Tottenham as a player after winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League at Manchester United.

‘At Tottenham, Daniel Levy is running out of managerial candidates for the job,’ ex-England star Cole told Paddy Power. ‘He’s gone big, he’s gone bold, and he’s gone off the beaten track, but none of them seem to have worked.

‘Michael Carrick could be a good option for the manager’s job. An ex-Spurs player, who understands the club, would be quite nice.

‘Also, I’d like to see Glenn Hoddle back at the club in some capacity. I know Tottenham fans would love to see him back and he’s got the best football brain I know.

‘I’d love to see Glenn Hoddle back in the club in some capacity, maybe supporting Michael Carrick. The club needs bringing together because it was really torn at times last season.’

Meanwhile, Danny Murphy – who also played for Tottenham – believes Silva, Frank and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner could all replace Postecoglou should he be dismissed.

‘Should Spurs get rid of Ange Postecoglou, they’ve got Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner on their doorstep,’ he told talkSPORT BET.

‘They’re all very capable managers, they know the Premier League and they’ve all produced fit, well-organised, adaptable teams at their respective clubs.

‘I think any of those three would thrive in the Spurs job with the players they’d have at their disposal.

‘They may look further afield for a new manager and then who knows where they might go? Ultimately, if they make a change then I feel like it should be someone who is already working well in the Premier League – if they can get them, that is.

‘You can come in from abroad and have success, we’ve seen Arne Slot do it this season. However, I just think it is more practical to have a manager who knows what he’s coming up against straight away.

‘I think one of Frank, Silva or Glasner will end up at Spurs.’

Murphy added: ‘Tottenham have tried so many different types of managers in the past.

‘From experienced winners like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, to more pragmatic coaches like Nuno Espirito Santo, and then the complete opposite in Ange Postecoglou.

‘It’s difficult to nail down what kind of manager they’ll go for next. You of course want a manager with a philosophy, but they also need to be adaptable.

‘You want someone who’s experienced and knows how to win – there are a lot of boxes you want ticked.

‘In the end, the only one who has actually brought silverware to the club is Ange, so there will be a good section of the fanbase who want the club to stick with him.

‘The irony is, they won the Europa League final by being solid and pragmatic. He obviously knows how to win like that, as do the players, which makes you wonder why he doesn’t do that more often.’

Tottenham will travel to Hong Kong and Korea as part of their pre-season plans before the new Premier League campaign begins on August 16.

Tottenham are growing confident of beating Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Leroy Sane on a free transfer from Bayern Munich this summer, according to reports.

Sane looked on course to sign a new contract with Bayern this month before he opted to switch his representation to Pini Zahavi’s agency.

The Germany international’s salary demands have now increased and Bayern have been unable to reach an agreement with the winger.

Bayern now face the prospect of losing their £54.8 million signing from Manchester City on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in the running to sign Sane if he rejects Bayern and decides to leave the Bundesliga champions as a free agent this summer.

But according to FootMercato, Spurs are ‘growing in confidence’ that they will win the race to sign Sane.

The report adds that Sane also has offers from Turkey and the Saudi Pro League and he has not made a decision over his future at Bayern.

Speaking this week, Germany’s World Cup and European Championship winner, Lothar Matthaus, urged Bayern not to let Sane go ‘under any circumstances’.

‘There’s no need for a spectacular new signing just because Florian Wirtz’s transfer didn’t work out,’ Matthaus told SportBild.

‘For the spectacle, you have Olise on the right, and Musiala at number 10. And on the left, I’d plan on Sane. For me, he’s a player I wouldn’t let go under any circumstances.

‘When a player leaves on a free transfer, then – to put it bluntly – it really annoys Bayern.

‘But that’s not the only reason I’d extend his contract. It’s because of Leroy’s quality. He also has good contact with Kompany and is in the same league as Olise, Davies, and Musiala. That atmosphere in a team is important.

‘Whether he then works more or less backward is not crucial. I would extend Sane’s contract. There’s no need for a top signing on the wing if Sane extends.’

Tottenham have made an initial approach to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to reports.

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea in a £52 million deal from RB Leipzig in 2023 but his first season at Stamford Bridge was disrupted by knee, hip and hamstring injuries.

Nkunku has been fully fit for the majority of this campaign, however, he has struggled to secure a regular role under Enzo Maresca, starting just nine games in the Premier League.

For Chelsea’s Conference League final against Real Betis on Wednesday evening, the French forward was an unused substitute with Maresca opting to bring on 19-year-old striker Marc Guiu in the closing stages instead.

Nkunku had attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Arsenal in the January transfer window but Chelsea were demanding a transfer fee in excess of £50m.

According to talkSPORT, Nkunku remains open to joining a rival Premier League side and Tottenham are the latest club to have made an enquiry ahead of the summer window.

The report adds that Nkunku would also welcome the chance to join Bayern Munich, who completed the signing of Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen this week.

Elsewhere, Chelsea look set to win the race to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season, is available due to a £30m release clause in his deal with Ipswich.

Manchester United had also held extensive talks to sign Delap but the striker has now given the green light to Chelsea.

Chelsea have also targeted Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, who is wanted by Arsenal.

Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Leroy Sane this summer, according to reports.

The Bayern Munich winger, who becomes a free agent at the end of next month, has been linked to both the Gunners and the Blues in recent weeks.

It was thought that Chelsea were set to sign the German but there’s been a twist with Spurs now given the opportunity to bring him to north London.

Spurs have become a ‘more attractive proposition’ after winning the Europa League – Sky Sports have reported – ending their 17-year wait for a trophy and qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

A number of other Premier League clubs have also been linked to Sane this summer including Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

The former Manchester City star appeared to be on course to sign a new contract with Bayern this month before he opted to switch his representation to Pini Zahavi’s agency.

He could now potentially be on his way to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if the Europa League champions decide to pay his salary demands.

Sane has spent the last five years at Bayern – joining the club in a £54.8m deal from City in 2020 – but appears to be keen on a Premier League return.

The 29-year-old has registered 11 goals and six assists across 30 Bundesliga games this term, helping Bayern clinch the German title.

Sane spent four years at City prior to joining Bayern, landing two Premier League trophies under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

Sane also won the FA Cup with City and helped the club clinch three Carabao Cup trophies.

He has earned 69 international caps for Germany to date, scoring 14 goals for his country.

According to reports, Sane has already moved to London, which looks to have ruled out a switch to any clubs located outside of the English capital.

Sane has spent the last two seasons playing with former Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier at Bayern.

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany praised Sane last month after a series of impressive performances.

‘It’s been clear in recent games that Leroy is in good form,’ Kompany said in April.

‘[That] is why he’s started a lot. We’ve got great talent in the team, and he’s one of those players who’s helped us a lot lately and scored important goals.

‘I’ve got no doubt that he’ll continue to bring that for us.’

Jose Mourinho admits the Europa League final will have a ‘huge impact’ on both champions Tottenham and runners-up Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs beat Ruben Amorim’s United 1-0 in an all-English, low-quality Europa League final last week.

The result saw Tottenham lift a major trophy for the first time in 17 years and sent Spurs back into the Champions League despite their embarrassing form in the Premier League.

For Manchester United, the defeat capped off a miserable season in which they finished just 15th in the Premier League under Amorim and his predecessor Erik ten Hag.

Mourinho, who managed both clubs and has been a mentor to Amorim, said the final would have a ‘huge impact’ on both Tottenham and Manchester United.

‘The impact is obvious,’ Mourinho told Sky Sports.

‘Tottenham play Champions League and of course for Mr Levy, the millions the Champions League gives, for him it’s the best news.

‘For the fans, the players and Ange, it’s a title. Yes the game was not amazing but they made history for Tottenham because Tottenham didn’t have a trophy for so many years.

‘From what I read – just what I read – the impact on United of course is huge in the sense of for how many years has United are not involved in any European competition.

‘But at the same time it looks like they are supporting Ruben, they are giving him time and conditions to go forward.

‘I read some quotes from him saying he’s happy he came and already had these six months. When I went to Porto the same thing happened.

‘I went in January and we had a difficult six months, we struggled even to qualify for UEFA Cup. And then we saw what happened.

‘I was divided because on one side I love United and I have a fantastic relationship with Ruben.

‘But on the other side I saw Sonny [Tottenham captain Son Heung-min] crying with the cup… also for Tottenham fans it was a special feeling.’

Despite Manchester United’s dismal form this season, the club are ready to give Amorim more time to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Postecoglou has been given less assurances despite ending Tottenham’s trophy drought, with the Spurs board still weighing up whether or not to sack the ex-Celtic boss.

Mourinho, 62, managed Manchester United between 2016 and 2018 and Tottenham from 2019 to 2021. He is currently in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are all interested in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, with a deal possible after the Villains missed out on the Champions League.

It was a nightmare final day of the Premier League campaign for Unai Emery’s side as they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United and missed out on the top five on goal difference.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was sent off before the half-time break but Villa could still have come away with the result they needed but for a refereeing error.

Morgan Rogers saw a goal wrongfully ruled out shortly before Amad Diallo put the Red Devils ahead on 76 minutes, then a late Christian Eriksen penalty secured the win at Old Trafford.

That has left Aston Villa in the Europa League next season and the amount of revenue they will miss out on after failing to reach the Champions League could force them into sales.

TalkSPORT report that Ramsey would be a candidate to be sold as he would represent pure profit from a Profit and Sustainability Rules standpoint.

With plenty of Premier League interest in the midfielder, Aston Villa will look to bring in around £50m if they are to sell him.

The 23-year-old has already racked up a lot of experience for Villa, making 167 appearances and scoring 17 goals.

His progress was hampered by injury last season but he has featured regularly over this campaign, making 45 appearances in all competitions.

While clearly rated by Emery and an important member of the Villa squad, Ramsey did only start 19 Premier League games over the season.

In contrast, Morgan Rogers has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea but is considered not for sale after he started 37 top flight games.

This is not the first time Ramsey has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, with Newcastle, Tottenham and even Bayern Munich linked with him in January.

Emery spoke out on the speculation, stating that the midfielder is seen as a crucial player in the squad.

‘Jacob Ramsey is a very important player here,’ Emery said in January.

‘He grew up here in the academy and his progression is clearly getting better, his level is increasing a lot and I want to keep him here with us.

‘Of course, he starts getting some movements around him, maybe teams involved in the possibility to sign him because he’s a player with big, big potential in Aston Villa and England.’

Bruno Fernandes has been urged not to quit Manchester United by his devastated teammates.

The United skipper cut a crestfallen figure on Wednesday night after his side spurned their last chance to salvage something from a miserable season.

After shattering a number of unwanted records in the Premier League, defeat against Tottenham in the Europa League final means Ruben Amorim’s side will go without European football next season.

The repercussions of a fourth consecutive defeat against Spurs are likely to be damaging and far reaching.

On Friday it was reported that another round of redundancies would be affecting club staff would be made as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues his extreme cost-cutting measures.

United, meanwhile, are said to be willing to listen to offers for virtually every member of their first team squad, including skipper Bruno Fernandes.

The captain produced a woefully sub-par performance in Bilbao in midweek and almost appeared resigned to his departure in a downbeat post match interview.

‘But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way. If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.’

Al-Hilal are preparing to test United’s resolve with a £100million offer for the Portugal international and are willing to pay the 30-year-old a whopping £700,000-a-week salary.

What Man Utd stars have told Bruno Fernandes

United chiefs are yet to make a definitive decision on Fernandes’ future but his teammates are in no doubt of the importance he can still play in Amorim’s rebuilding project.

A source told The Sun: ‘Bruno may be criticised but the players know what a talent he is.

‘He can be demanding but they all respect him and sent him messages letting him know how valued he is.

‘If he leaves, the dressing room would fall apart.’

Amorim, meanwhile, plans to apologise to fans after a dismal season comes to close against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.

‘We will do that, it’s tradition and we have to face it,’ Amorim said of the usual lap of honour.

‘I think it will be the biggest mistake if we don’t do that. We will do that.’

Asked what he might say to fans, Amorim added: ‘An apology I think is clear; an explanation, you don’t have time.

‘So we will try to be honest. I think I will be honest with the fans and I will say what is in my mind and what is in my heart.’

Brighton will give a guard of honour to Tottenham following their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final this week.

Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy as Brennan Johnson’s goal sealed a historic win for Ange Postecoglou’s side in Bilbao.

The newly crowned Europa League winners host Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday and could end the campaign in 14th place if they win and Manchester United, West Ham and Wolves all fail to pick up three points.

As it stands, Spurs sit 17th in the Premier League but they will receive a guard of honour from Brighton’s players when they walk out onto the pitch for Sunday’s game.

Typically, a guard of honour in a Premier League match is only reserved for the domestic champions and Liverpool have enjoyed that gesture in their games against Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton this month.

However, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler believes Spurs’ success in a European competition also needs to be recognised.

‘Like we did against Liverpool, if great clubs achieve great things then it’s always a positive thing and also if English clubs achieve great things in the international cups,’ Hurzeler said.

‘I’m very happy for them. Of course, they deserve it, so we will do it.’

Hurzeler also paid tribute to Postecoglou and says the 59-year-old is a role model.

‘I’m happy for [Postecoglou] because he’s a very good guy. He deserves it,’ Hurzeler said.

‘He has a lot of pressure and how he deals with it, I think he’s a role model for young coaches as well, like me.

‘I’m very happy for him. I know that he worked hard for this and what I really like is that he said already in September after a game against Arsenal [that he wins trophies in his second season].

‘He’s a man who can look into the future and that’s something very impressive.’
