Tottenham fans destroy Levy amid ‘ridiculous’ Son Heung-min update – ‘Shameless’ - Football Insider
Description

Daniel Levy is once again feeling the wrath of Tottenham fans following the latest update on Son Heung-min’s future.

The South Korean international has amassed a total of 454 appearances since joining Spurs in 2015, scoring 173 goals and assisting another 101 goals during his time with the club.

However, the 32-year-old’s future has been thrown into uncertainty following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, with Football Insider understanding that Thomas Frank is likely to decide Son’s next actions.

Tottenham fans were extremely critical of Son’s performances last season, and despite notching 11 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, it was far from his best campaign for the Lilywhites.

Son Heung-min exit gathers pace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Saudi Arabia has emerged as a potential destination for the dynamic forward this summer, with the Saudi Pro League looking to heavily invest in the summer transfer market yet again.

The player has just 12 months left on his current deal in North London, and now, BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel reports (17 June) that a decision over his future is likely to be delayed for now.

That is due to Spurs’ upcoming tour of South Korea playing a major role in the decision, with his absence possibly risking complications with tour organisers ahead of friendlies with Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Son had already agreed to various activities during the tour, which often produces a lot of profit for Levy and his club, with sources understanding that an offer way above his valuation would have to arrive for a bid to be accepted before the tour.

Tottenham supporters furious with Son Heung-min’s treatment

Supporters are clearly frustrated with Levy’s treatment of a club legend, having stayed loyal to the Lilywhites over the last decade, and even outlasting Harry Kane in North London.

Levy appears more inclined to use Son’s face to promote the tour than to do what is best for the player, who, while it was not his best season, led Spurs to the Europa League title last season.

One supporter labelled the owner as “genuinely shameless”, while another called the situation “ridiculous”. However, going by the comments, few fans are actually surprised by Levy’s actions.

Dominic Solanke has reacted to the news that Tottenham have signed Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal.

The France Under-21 international joined Spurs on loan from the Bundesliga giants in the winter transfer window, and scored three goals in 20 appearances for the North Londoners.

His most recent goal contribution for Tottenham came on 4 May, when he created an assist during a 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Tel has become Spurs’ first signing since the appointment of Thomas Frank from Brentford, and the former Bees boss will hope to see the 20-year-old succeed under his stewardship.

Solanke reacts as Tottenham sign Tel

Solanke played a crucial role in Tottenham’s Europa League success last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the competition.

Meanwhile, taking to Instagram [15 June], the Spurs official account wrote: “We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a contract that will run until 2031.”

Solanke liked the post and will look to effectively link up with the former Bayern man in the Premier League next season.

Football Insider verdict

Spurs will want more from Tel next season

Tel boasts plenty of potential and proved his attacking ability when he scored to help France to a dramatic 3-2 win over Georgia in the Under-21 Euros on Saturday, 14 June.

After the 20-year-old joined the North London club from Bayern on loan last season, Spurs may have held high expectations for the forward, who notched 10 goals and six assists during the 2023/24 campaign.

However, Tel only scored three goals in 20 appearances for Tottenham last term, as former boss Ange Postecoglou failed to get the best out of him.

Frank must look to get a better attacking output from the France Under-21 international next season, as the North Londoners will not want to regret buying the former Rennes man from Bayern.

As reported by Sky Sports [15 June], Spurs paid £29.8million for Tel, while Daniel Levy has already proven his willingness to back Frank in the transfer market.

Exclusive: Keith Andrews set for Brentford job after Thomas Frank exit to Tottenham - Football Insider
Description

Keith Andrews is set to be named Brentford boss following Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.

The Bees are currently without a manager after Daniel Levy appointed Frank in North London, with Ange Postecoglou being sacked despite winning the Europa League title against Man United.

Justin Cochrane had been interviewed by Brentford, Football Insider understands, before following the 51-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Edin Terzic also linked.

Football Insider now understands, however, that the club are set to appoint from within at the Gtech Community Stadium, promoting Andrews, who joined last summer, from the set-piece coach to manager.

Thomas Frank’s successor set to be named at Brentford

While Andrews’ playing career was extensive, featuring for the likes of Wolves, MK Dons, and Blackburn Rovers, his managerial abilities are far more unknown heading into next season.

To make matters worse for the Bees, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa could both leave the club this summer, with Frank’s arrival in North London seeing them linked with the same move.

The duo played a key role in the club’s top-half Premier League finish, boasting 52 goal contributions between them as the Bees drew with Wolves on the final day to secure 10th spot.

Likely due to Andrews’ work on the training pitch, the Bees scored 13 set-piece goals last season, boasting more than Arsenal and Man City, who both finished in the top-five spots.

Keith Andrews faces difficult summer transfer window ahead

Losing two of the club’s most important playmakers is likely to be a shock to the system this summer, though with the possible transfer fees floating around, it may not be too difficult to find replacements.

Some fans are still coming to terms with Frank’s exit, but with Football Insider breaking the news of Postecoglou’s sacking at Tottenham, it will have come as no surprise in North London.

The 51-year-old was a much-loved figure at the Gtech Community Stadium, having an impact on and off the pitch, so it leaves Andrews with some very big boots to fill next season.

Description

Tottenham tried in vain to land Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi in the January transfer window to ease their injury crisis.

Spurs are now set to try again to land the 24-year-old – who is fresh off an FA Cup victory with Palace and will be eyeing a starring role at next year’s World Cup.

Football Insider revealed in March that Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea will race Liverpool to land Guehi this summer – while Arsenal have also been linked.

Palace’s FA Cup win will not make a massive difference to his future, with the centre-back having just over 12 months to run on his contract.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed he has heard Tottenham are plotting a new swoop for Guehi.

Guehi will not make La Liga move, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed a swap deal could be likely with Palace looking to beef up ahead of a Europa League campaign next term.

Guehi, who has been linked with a free transfer switch to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, has been with the Croydon club since 2021 and has been an England regular since 2022.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’ll be a blow if Guehi goes because the main objective for Palace will be keeping this squad together.

“I’m hearing he won’t be going to Barcelona or Real Madrid for free – he’ll be going to Spurs, is what I’m hearing.

“There may be a player swap which can benefit Palace there.

“I don’t think it’ll be about getting the cash, it’ll be about getting the right players for Palace.

“We may see a swap there and it could end up being a good move for both clubs.

“If they are going to lose players, Palace have got to replace them with quality.”

Tottenham bracing to lose Romero

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (28 May) that Atletico Madrid’s interest in Tottenham star Cristian Romero will not go away despite their Champions League qualification.

Atleti are very interested in landing Romero and are ready to test Spurs’ resolve to keep the centre-back.

Sources say Argentinian manager Diego Simeone is a “huge admirer” of his countryman.

Tottenham and Man United handed major Eberechi Eze boost: ‘Needs to leave’

Tottenham and Man United handed major Eberechi Eze boost: ‘Needs to leave’ - Football Insider
Description

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been urged to leave the FA Cup champions amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester United.

Eze was the hero for the Eagles at Wembley, as he scored the winning goal in their 1-0 FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City on 17 May.

The England international proved his class by notching 14 goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions this term.

Eze was in particularly good form at the end of the season, scoring seven goals in his last seven outings, including the aforementioned cup final.

Eze told he needs to play in the Champions League

Thanks to their historic FA Cup triumph, Crystal Palace will be competing in next season’s Europa League, but Adebayo Akinfenwa doesn’t believe that’s enough to keep Eze at Selhurst Park.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [29 May], Jason Cundy asked Eze’s former Wycombe Wanderers teammate if the 26-year-old has to leave Palace.

Akinfenwa replied: “I love the fact that he is that guy at Palace, and it all revolves around him.

“I like that. But like anything, you do want to test yourself, and he wants to play in the Champions League, he plays for England. He wants to test himself.”

He continued: “I think Palace are going to find it very hard to keep hold of Eze.”

Football Insider verdict

Eze should favour a move to Tottenham over Man United

As alluded to by Akinfenwa, Eze may have to leave Palace to further his career and enhance his credentials ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

The Eagles star has shown he is capable of performing in the Champions League, while booking his spot at the top table of European football would further his development.

With that in mind, the England international should favour a move to Tottenham over that of Man United, as Spurs can offer him Champions League football next term, unlike the Old Trafford club.

Furthermore, Eze would not have to relocate to join fellow London side Tottenham, while Ange Postecoglou’s men could be more likely to hand him game time next season.

Man United are set to sign Matheus Cunha for his £62.5million release clause, and the Brazil international could be expected to start alongside Bruno Fernandes next season in Ruben Amorim’s double ‘number 10’ pivot.

On the other hand, Tottenham’s style of play would seemingly suit the former Queens Park Rangers man very well.

Description

Cristian Romero captained Tottenham to Europa League success last week (21 May) but speculation has persisted over his future.

Football Insider revealed last month that Romero could push for a move away in order to fulfil his ambitions of fighting for trophies and playing Champions League football.

However, the 27-year-old has now achieved both objectives while remaining a Spurs player – helping to end the club’s 17-year trophyless streak.

The World Cup winner, who has two years left to run on his contract, struggled with injury throughout a challenging 2024-25 campaign but was fit for the most important game of all as Man United were dispatched in Bilbao.

Romero shares ‘we must continue’ claim at Tottenham

Romero joined Tottenham on an initial loan from Juventus in 2021 before making his deal permanent a year later – and has gone on to play 124 times across all competitions for the club.

The Argentina international has been linked with a potential move to La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, where he could link up with countryman Diego Simeone and international teammates like Rodrigo De Paul, as well as city rivals Real Madrid.

However, the centre-back and club captain has now taken to Instagram (26 May) to drop an intriguing update on his future in London with Spurs.

He said: “My name is a part of the history of this beautiful club. I want to thank you all for the love and support every day despite everything, but I have no doubt that staying together led us to success.

“We must continue; this is the path.” Romero continued.

Fellow centre-back and defensive partner for the famous night in Bilbao, Micky van de Ven, commented “What a player” to show his appreciation.

Romero facing tough Tottenham decision

Football Insider Verdict

Romero’s final decision could boil down to whether he feels the Europa League victory was a false dawn at Tottenham.

It is clear Spurs must strengthen ahead of a challenging campaign in the Champions League, while there is also a decision to make on the future of manager Ange Postecoglou.

The centre-back and Postecoglou appear to have a strong relationship, with the Argentine buying into his manager’s philosophy since his arrival from Celtic.

Tottenham’s transfer team could also take Romero’s injury record into consideration, with the defender missing a huge portion of the 2024-25 campaign with hamstring and toe issues.
