A string of fine saves by Guglielmo Vicario helped Tottenham claim a 0-0 draw at Monaco to remain unbeaten in the Champions League.

Injury-hit Spurs were far from their best at Stade Louis II and needed Vicario on top form to deny Folarin Balogun on three occasions before he brilliantly thwarted Thilo Kehrer's close-range header in the second half.

It ensured Thomas Frank’s Tottenham left Monaco with five points after three Champions League games, but full-time was met with a smattering of boos from the away end after yet another disjointed attacking display.

Spurs were without captain Cristian Romero – one of 10 players unavailable – and Frank again shuffled his pack with £52m playmaker Xavi Simons only on the bench and Archie Gray surprisingly recalled at left-back.

Gray was quickly involved, blocking an effort by the excellent Maghnes Akliouche before Vicario saved from Balogun and Tottenham’s makeshift full-back then intercepted Ansu Fati’s pass after a dangerous run.

The visitors threatened for the first time after 20 minutes when Wilson Odobert clipped a ball in for stand-in captain Micky van de Ven, but he could only head over under pressure.

It was then Vicario’s turn to step up as he clawed away a dangerous cross by Akliouche before Balogun peeled off van de Ven, but the Spurs goalkeeper raced out to block bravely.

Seconds later, and Odobert slipped in Richarlison, who had a left-footed shot thwarted by Mohammed Salisu.

However, Tottenham were indebted to Vicario in the 36th-minute. Balogun again found space and was picked out by Mamadou Coulibaly but the Italian keeper brilliantly parried away Balogun's curled shot from 12 yards.

It remained goalless at the break after Kevin Danso sent over a corner by Kudus – not long after he headed straight at Philipp Kohn, but he was subsequently penalised for a foul.

Akliouche put Joao Palhinha on his backside at the start of the second half only to scuff his effort straight at Vicario before Odobert cut inside and had a shot deflected over by Kehrer.

Chances remained limited and after Pedro Porro hit a free-kick into the wall, Frank made his first substitutions with Xavi and Pape Sarr sent on after an hour.

Monaco remained on top and Vicario pushed wide a shot by substitute Aleksandr Golovin before he scrambled across his goal and looked mightily relived when Kehrer headed past the post from a Fati cross.

Frank’s next roll of the dice was to introduce Brennan Johnson and Randal Kolo Muani, but it failed to stem the tide.

Vicario’s next heroics occurred in the 75th minute when Caio Henrique’s cross found Jordan Teze and yet his close-range header was superbly blocked by Spurs’ busy goalkeeper.

Former Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino took centre stage for the closing exchanges, lifting a tough volleyed chance over before he fired another shot wide.

Minamino squandered another golden opportunity with seven minutes left when he blazed over from Balogun’s cut-back.

Spurs did finally fashion a chance late on but Johnson’s effort was blocked by Christian Mawissa and it finished goalless.

Morgan Rogers' first goal for Aston Villa in 20 matches inspired a fifth-consecutive win and piled more home woe on Tottenham as they suffered a 2-1 Premier League defeat.

Rogers had shone for England during the international break, but failed to score in club football since the start of April, but changed that at Spurs with a sensational 37th-minute leveller.

It cancelled out Rodrigo Bentancur’s fifth-minute opener for Thomas Frank’s side and as Tottenham pushed for a rare home victory in the league in 2025, they were hit with a sucker-punch as Emiliano Buendia’s curler, 13 minutes from time sealed the comeback for Villa.

Frank had failed to beat Unai Emery in five previous attempts and his efforts this time were not helped by captain Cristian Romero being forced to pull out in the warm-up.

It meant Kevin Danso was a last-minute inclusion for Spurs, but the hosts put that to one side to break the deadlock after five minutes.

Villa dealt with the initial corner into the area and yet Mohammed Kudus’ superb follow-up delivery was headed back across goal by Joao Palhinha for Bentancur to drill in from eight yards, for his first goal in 10 months.

It was momentarily 2-0 two minutes later when Kudus drilled through Emi Martinez after a wonderful crossfield ball by stand-in captain Micky van de Ven, but it was correctly ruled out for offside.

Villa did respond with pantomime villain Matty Cash – who was booed after two notably-poor tackles in past meetings with Tottenham – firing wide from range in the 15th minute.

Martinez spilled an effort by Wilson Odobert soon after, but no Spurs player reacted quick enough before opposite number Guglielmo Vicario punched out a dangerous Lucas Digne cross.

Tottenham looked set to retain their lead at half-time until Rogers produced a sensational equaliser.

With 37 minutes on the clock, England attacker Rogers skipped past Xavi Simons and rifled a dripping effort beyond Vicario for his first goal of the campaign.

Flying tackles resulted in brief stoppages for Amadou Onana and Pedro Porro before Tottenham forward Mathys Tel squandered an opening at the back post from a Kudus cross to ensure it stayed 1-1 at the break.

After Villa full-back Digne required treatment after being caught by Danso with his follow-through, the second half sparked into life.

A long throw by Danso sparked chaos in the away goal but Ezri Konsa managed to block Odobert’s goal-bound effort on the line before soon after Palhinha’s 20-yard curler was tipped wide by Martinez.

Emery’s team swung back as John McGinn slipped in Donyell Malen but he fired into the side-netting under pressure from Van de Ven.

Both benches reacted, with Richarlison sent on for Spurs on the hour mark and Ollie Watkins introduced a minute later.

Frank prepared to roll the dice again with Lucas Bergvall and Randal Kolo Muani ready to come on but after Tottenham declined multiple chances to send them on, Villa punished the hosts in the 77th minute.

The visiting full-backs combined with Cash’s wonderful crossfield pass plucked out of the air by Digne, who teed up Buendia and he curled around a crowd of bodies to fool Vicario.

Bergvall and Kolo Muani were finally sent on before Frank tweaked his formation, but Brennan Johnson blazed over in stoppage-time as boos greeted full-time, with Tottenham winning only three of their last 18 home league games.

The New York Jets' wait for their first NFL win of the season continued after being beaten 13-11 by the Denver Broncos at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jets kicker Nick Folk scored two field goals either side of Wil Lutz’s effort, before Broncos quarterback Bo Nix connected with Nate Adkins for a 16-yard touchdown at the end of the first quarter.

Folk then extended the Jets’ lead with a field goal but New York were frustrated by an impressive display from the Broncos’ defence, who eventually finished with nine sacks on quarterback Justin Fields.

Another Lutz field goal sent the Broncos back in front in the fourth quarter for Denver to seal their fourth win, while the Jets slump to their sixth defeat this season.

A consortium led by American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick will no longer make a bid for Tottenham.

An expression of interest by Earick's consortium, which was reportedly ready to launch a €5billion takeover bid, was "unequivocally rejected" by ENIC, which is run by the Lewis family Trust, on 26 September.

On Monday, it was confirmed via the London Stock Exchange that Earick had pulled out of the running, which was welcomed by the Lewis family Trust, who again reiterated a long-term commitment to Spurs. This news follows Asia-based consortium Firehawk Holdings Limited also ruling out a bid.

"The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited (the "club") notes the recent announcements from the Firehawk and Mr Earick’s consortiums that they do not intend to make an offer for the club," a statement on London Stock Exchange read.

"The Board thanks them for the constructive approach taken in the discussions with the club’s and the Lewis family’s representatives and respecting the clear position of the Lewis family that the club is not for sale.

"Following the announcements made by the consortiums, the club is no longer in an offer period under the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers."

It was announced at the start of September that Spurs’ majority owners ENIC had "unequivocally rejected" two expressions of interest in acquiring the north London club, with one from a consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk.

Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance immediately confirmed via the London Stock Exchange on 8 September that it did not intend to make an offer for Tottenham and Firehawk confirmed its intentions on 3 October.

This left a consortium led by Earick as the only public interested party in Tottenham, but he has withdrawn his interest in the Premier League club.

ENIC, run by the Lewis family Trust, owns almost 87% of Tottenham, but due to the remaining shares being publicly traded, the club is subject to the UK Takeover Code. This means any expression of interest or bid must be lodged with the Takeover Code panel and made public.

An 89th-minute own goal by Jostein Gundersen spared Tottenham's blushes and earned them a fortunate 2-2 draw away to Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Spurs were back at Aspmyra Stadion four months on from success in the Europa League semi-finals, but this time they were second best for long periods.

After a one-sided first half where Kasper Hogh missed a penalty for the Norwegian minnows, Bodo looked on course to claim revenge after two fine strikes shortly after the break by Jens Petter Haugh.

Tottenham's stand-in captain Micky van de Ven reduced the deficit in the 68th minute and Thomas Frank watched his side fight back for the third time this month when Gundersen inadvertently deflected the ball in after Bodo goalkeeper Nikita Haikin saved Archie Gray's shot.

It earned Spurs a point to move them onto four in the Champions League, but Bodo boss Kjetil Knutsen would have wondered how his team failed to win after a dominant display.

Luiz Junior's own goal gifted Tottenham a 1-0 home victory over Villarreal on a night when Thomas Partey played before an appearance in court for rape and sexual assault charges.

Thomas Frank’s Spurs claimed three points on their Champions League return after the visiting goalkeeper spilled Lucas Bergvall’s fourth-minute cross in comical fashion, but it was Villarreal team-mate Partey who later took centre stage.

The former Arsenal midfielder was introduced with 12 minutes left to loud boos a month on from his appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court on 5 August – where he was charged with five counts of rape as well as a charge of sexual assault.

The lawyer for Partey, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously said he "denies all the charges against him" and he is due in court again on Wednesday morning – a matter of hours after this Champions League tie.

In the end Partey had no decisive say on the fixture as Spurs held on for a fourth victory under Frank despite only one shot on target in front of a low crowd of 54,755.

Tottenham were back in Europe's elite competition for the first time since a 0-0 draw at home to AC Milan in March, 2023 and this time only needed four minutes to score after a 932-day wait.

It was a moment to forget for Luiz Junior, who claimed Bergvall’s cross ahead of Richarlison but allowed the ball to spill out of his grasp and across the line in agonisingly slow fashion.

Spurs boss Frank – in his maiden Champions League fixture – almost turned away before he realised that he could celebrate.

It capped a bright opening few minutes for Tottenham as home debutant Xavi Simons drilled over, but Villarreal soon started to cause problems.

Ex-Arsenal attacker Nicolas Pepe blocked out boos to cut inside Cristian Romero and sent a shot wide via a touch by Micky van de Ven.

Pepe then picked out Tajon Buchanan, who fired off target from a promising position.

Referee Rade Obrenovic took centre stage soon after with four yellow cards in quick succession but amidst the flurry of bookings, Pape Sarr had a low strike saved by Luiz Junior and Richarlison had a penalty appeal waved away.

Pape Gueye had barged into the Spurs forward but avoided punishment, as he did again after an accidental handball in the 42nd minute.

Tottenham squandered two more openings before half-time as Xavi and Richarlison sent efforts wide and Villarreal returned with better intent.

Not long after Partey warmed up for the first time to loud boos, Juan Foyth headed wide before Pepe fired off target.

Spurs were being punished for sloppiness in possession and Xavi was fortunate in the 66th minute when he caught Pepe but referee Obrenovic ignored Villarreal protests about a potential second yellow card and instead booked away boss Marcelino.

Xavi had another close shave when he brought down Ilias Akhomach inside the area before Partey was sent on in the 78th minute.

A flurry of chants about the former Arsenal midfielder followed but it was another player once of the red side of north London that almost produced the leveller.

Micky van de Ven brought down Georges Mikautadze on the edge of the penalty area – a foul which may have been worth of a red card – and Pepe curled the subsequent free-kick from 20 yards inches wide.

Three minutes were added but Tottenham held on to make it four wins out of six under new boss Frank.

Tottenham have swiftly moved on to different targets after they missed out on Eberechi Eze and remain interested in the potential signing of Manchester City's Savinho.

Spurs were all set to capture Eze after they reached an agreement with Crystal Palace on Wednesday for a £60million plus £7.5m in adds-on deal until Arsenal swooped in to hijack the transfer of the England international.

Eze would have filled the creative void at Tottenham left by James Maddison, who is set to miss the rest of the season after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee earlier this month, but Thomas Frank must now shift focus elsewhere.

Talks were opened between Spurs and Manchester City on 11 August regarding the versatile Savinho, who made 48 appearances and produced 13 assists in his debut campaign at Etihad Stadium.

While dialogue cooled as Tottenham explored a big-money move for Eze over the past week, Savinho is still a target for the north London club, and reports in Brazil suggest an €80million bid is being prepared.

Frank has enjoyed a strong start to life at Spurs, with an impressive Super Cup display in defeat to Paris St Germain followed by a 3-0 victory over Burnley last Saturday but next month will bring the challenge of Champions League football.

With Maddison out long-term and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Danish coach is in need of attacking reinforcements and talks over Savinho could soon accelerate, especially after Saturday's trip to Man City.

Man City midfielder Claudio Echeverri has joined Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old signed for Pep Guardiola's side from River Plate in January 2024 but remained with the Buenos Aires outfit until February 2025.

Echeverri made his City debut as a substitute in the FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace and now spends the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Erik ten Hag’s Leverkusen.

Bournemouth have signed Morocco winger Amine Adli on a five-year contract from Bayer Leverkusen as they continue their recruitment drive after losing several key players.

Financial details were not disclosed, but it is believed that the 25-year-old France-born Morocco international was signed for a fee of around £25million (€29m).

Adli joins Ben Gannon-Doak, Adrien Truffert, Dorde Petrovic and Bafode Diakite as new additions at Bournemouth. The club lost Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, Milos Kerkez to Liverpool and Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain in the close season.

Adli started his senior career at French side Toulouse before moving to Leverkusen in 2021. He registered 23 goals and 25 assists in 143 appearances for the German club, helping them to an undefeated domestic league and cup double in the 2023-24 season.

"Amine is a proven winner and someone that will be a real asset to our squad," Bournemouth's president of football operations Tiago Pinto said in a statement.

"He's someone that has competed at the highest level and his ambition is very much aligned with ours."

Adli will link up with Bournemouth ahead of Saturday's Premier League home game against Wolves.

Leeds have signed Switzerland forward Noah Okafor from AC Milan for a reported fee which could rise to £18million (€20.8m).

Okafor, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Serie A champions Napoli, is Leeds' ninth summer signing following promotion to the Premier League, joining on a four-year deal.

The 25-year-old's arrival is expected to end Leeds’ interest in Tottenham winger Manor Solomon, who played a starring role for Daniel Farke’s Championship-winning side on loan last season.

Leeds have now spent around £92million in total on new players since ending their two-year top-flight absence.

Okafor, who began his professional career at Basel, scored 34 goals and made 23 assists in 110 appearances for Salzburg before joining AC Milan in a £13.4m deal in July 2023.

He scored seven goals and had five assists in two seasons at the Serie A club, which included his four-month loan spell at Napoli, and has 24 caps for Switzerland.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said Wesley Fofana has not indicated he wants to leave after the defender removed pictures of himself playing for the club from his Instagram account.

The 24-year-old, who was an unused substitute during Sunday's 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace, previously did the same in 2022 as he sought a move away from Leicester, just before sealing a £70million (€81m) switch to Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old academy graduate Josh Acheampong was preferred alongside Trevoh Chalobah for the Palace stalemate despite a long-term injury to fellow central defender Levi Colwill, though Maresca said afterwards that it was never in his plans to use Fofana, who missed a large part of last season after injuring his hamstring in December.

He is expected to play some part when Chelsea face West Ham at the London Stadium on Friday.

"I spoke with Wes every day, he’s very happy, first of all because he’s back from injury, he’s joining all the sessions with us," said Maresca.

"He was on the bench just to be with us but from (Friday) he can get some minutes. We are happy, he is happy. About Instagram, I don’t have any idea because I don’t use social networks."

The France international, who has been limited to 34 appearances for the club in three seasons due to injuries, subsequently suffered online abuse on Wednesday after removing all references to Chelsea from his Instagram.

"Wes is happy, we are happy, there is nothing to add on that," said Maresca. "If there is abuse on Instagram, it’s never good, not good for Wes, not for any player or human being in the world. It’s something unfortunately we cannot control."

Injury to Colwill, whom Maresca considers to be his best ball-playing central defender, has led to disagreement between the Italian and the club’s recruitment team.

The head coach said before the Palace match that "the club knows" that he favours signing a replacement given Colwill’s role in helping the team build attacks from the back.

Tosin Adarabioyo, who missed the Palace match but is available to face West Ham, is considered the only player with a suitable profile to step into Colwill’s position.

Maresca, who has previously dismissed the possibility of using Fofana in the role after a failed experiment during last season’s win over Bournemouth, has been told by the club he must make do with what he has.

"We used Josh in the last game, we are trying to find some internal solutions," he said.

"We are looking for internal solutions, I showed it in the last game against Palace. We are trying to find solutions.

"I repeat again – probably I need to improve my English. We are looking for internal solutions and we will see if something happens."

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku will not feature against West Ham as the club continues to seek to offload them.

Jackson is understood to be an option for Newcastle should Alexander Isak leave whilst a loan bid for Nkunku from Bayern Munich was rejected this week with the club preferring a permanent sale.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have accepted a £26m (€30m) offer from Villarreal for defender Renato Veiga, with the Portugal left-back reported to have agreed a seven-year deal.

His departure would take Chelsea's total player sales this summer to over £250m (€289m).

The Blues are poised to make a hefty profit on the 22-year-old having paid £12m (€13.9) for him when he arrived from Basel in July 2024.

Veiga, who signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea, made just one Premier League start for them last season and six appearances off the bench.

He spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Juventus, making 12 starts in Serie A.

Chelsea have so far sold 10 players this summer and should Veiga complete his move they will have recouped around £252m (€291m) from 11 departures to offset the £277m (€320m) they have spent on nine new players.

Fabian Hurzeler has revealed Brighton forward Julio Enciso (above) is in talks to leave the club.

Paraguay international Enciso (21) is reportedly set to be acquired by Chelsea's ownership group BlueCo, which also holds a majority share in Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.

Enciso is set to initially sign for Strasbourg before he would return to England with Chelsea for the 2026-27 campaign, according to reports.

Hurzeler refused to go into details about the proposed transfer, but rejected suggestions it has been a "bad period" for Enciso, who has made 57 appearances for Brighton since he signed in 2022 but spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich.

Asked about the latest on suggestions Enciso will be bought by BlueCo, Hurzeler told a press conference: "So, like you said there are some rumours, there are some talks, but nothing is done yet so we can’t comment on that.

"When I worked with Julio, I was very pleased. He is a young guy with big potential. He showed it I think during his time so far in Brighton. He showed it also when he played for the national team. Overall, it was very positive.

"He is still a very young player with big potential. If big clubs are interested in him, I wouldn’t say he didn’t play well or didn’t have a good time here in Brighton.

"Overall there are some things that for sure could be better regarding the environment, regarding the culture things, but I think that it wasn’t a bad period so far."+

Tottenham began the Thomas Frank era in the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 home victory over promoted side Burnley thanks to a majestic double from striker Richarlison, which included an acrobatic volley.

The Brazilian opened the scoring in the 10th minute when he turned in a cross from new recruit Mohammed Kudus and the pair combined again on the hour mark when Richarlison volleyed a well-timed effort into the net to extend the lead.

Six minutes later, Brennan Johnson made it 3-0 on the counter-attack after Richarlison won the ball back in midfield as Burnley struggled to deal with Spurs' press and intensity.

It was no meek surrender from the visitors, however, as they managed to get forward and take nearly as many shots as Tottenham, but Scott Parker's side lacked quality in finishing.

Meanwhile, Eberechi Eze is understood to be closing in on a move to Tottenham.

It is understood the England international has reached an agreement with current club Crystal Palace that he will not play for them at Chelsea on Sunday.

Eze was a critical player as Palace won the FA Cup last season and also featured as the Eagles saw off Liverpool to lift the Community Shield last weekend.

The 27-year-old – who has long been linked with a move across London – joined Palace in 2020 from QPR and has gone on to win 11 England caps.

Sunderland marked their return to the Premier League in style with a 3-0 win over West Ham at the Stadium of Light.

Following an eight-year absence from the top flight, the Black Cats withstood some promising attacks spearheaded by Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen in the first half and after the break it was their Championship play-off heroes who proved to be the difference.

They went ahead through Eliezer Mayenda's header and Dan Ballard soon extended the advantage, nodding home into the same spot as his last-gasp winner against Coventry in the play-off semi-finals.

Substitute Wilson Isidor struck in added time to wrap up three points in Sunderland’s first Premier League appearance since May 2017.

Substitute Rodrigo Muniz struck a dramatic added-time equaliser as Fulham snatched a 1-1 Premier League draw against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

Brazilian forward Muniz pounced six minutes beyond the 90 when the Seagulls failed to deal with a Harry Wilson corner.

Albion were on course to begin the season with three points after Matt O'Riley converted a 55th-minute penalty following Sander Berge’s foul on Georginio Rutter.

Fulham had plenty of the ball after falling behind but rode their luck and rarely tested Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen before the late twist.

Tottenham have completed the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a six-year deal.

The 20-year-old forward spent the second half of last season on loan from the Bundesliga champions and scored three goals in 20 appearances.

The loan included an option for Spurs to make the deal permanent for £45.8million (€53.8m), however it is understood the club successfully negotiated the fee down to £29.8m (€35m).

Having moved to Bayern from Rennes in 2022 he initially enjoyed a significant role, playing 69 times during his first two seasons before falling out of favour when Vincent Kompany was appointed a year ago.

He made only eight league appearances during the first half of last season before being loaned to Spurs - whom he initially turned down before an abrupt change of heart late in the January transfer window.

The club finished 17th in the Premier League, their lowest-ever finish, but qualified for the Champions League courtesy of their 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Tel, who was an unused substitute in the final in Bilbao, is currently representing France at the under-21 European Championships in Slovakia alongside team-mate Wilson Odobert, and scored his team's opening goal of the tournament, a penalty in Saturday's 3-2 win over Georgia.

Bayern's director of football Max Eberl said: "Mathys Tel came to FC Bayern as a very young player and took his first steps into top-level international football here.

"He was a popular figure in our team, always giving his all for the club and the team. It has become clear that the move to Tottenham was the right one for his development."

Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed the idea of a return to former club Tottenham to replace Ange Postecoglou as "not realistic".

Spurs are seeking a new head coach having sacked Postecoglou just 16 days after leading the club to Europa League glory, their first trophy in 17 years.

United States boss Pochettino ended a five-year stay at Tottenham in November 2019, having helped Spurs reach the final of the Champions League that year.

The Argentinian signed a two-year contract to become US head coach last September and is expected to lead the team into next year's home World Cup.

Speaking after his side’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut, Pochettino told reporters: "After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list.

"If you have seen the rumours, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don’t be worried about that.

"If something happened, for sure you will see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think today, it’s not real. It’s not realistic.

"Look at where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, no? But we’re talking about it because it’s my club, like Newells or Espanyol."

Tottenham have exercised the 12-month option in Ben Davies’ deal to keep him at the club for another season.

Davies is Spurs’ longest serving player after he joined in the summer of 2015 – two months before the arrival of Son Heung-min.

Wales defender Davies has made 358 appearances for Tottenham and is set to work under his sixth permanent head coach at the club during the 2025-26 campaign after Postecoglou’s dismissal on Friday.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite for the vacancy, but as of Saturday, Tottenham were yet to make an official approach for the Danish coach, it is understood.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also sacked women's first team head coach Robert Vilahamn after two years in charge.

Vilahamn led the club to an FA Cup final in his first season at the club alongside a sixth place finish but Tottenham have decided to part ways with the 42-year-old after Spurs finished second-bottom in the Women’s Super League this campaign.

The Swedish coach joined in 2023 and was handed a three-year contract extension last July but only relegated Crystal Palace conceded more goals than Vilahamn’s side in a disappointing season.

Tottenham managing director Andy Rogers said: "There have been some special moments during Robert’s tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time.

"However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect and now is the right time to make a change.

"We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future."
