Description

Tottenham face Bodo/Glimt tonight looking to make it two wins from two at the start of their Champions League campaign.

Spurs began the league phase of the competition with a 1-0 win over Villarreal a fortnight ago. Despite taking the lead as early as the fourth minute, Thomas Frank’s side ended up toiling to victory.

As for Bodo, they battled back from 2-0 down to draw with Slavia Prague on matchday one, thus earning their first-ever point in the Champions League group phase.

Attentions now shift towards the Norwegian outfit hosting their first-ever game in the Champions League proper, although the Aspmyra Stadion does hold fond memories for Spurs.

That result is ultimately a big reason for the north London outfit’s return to Europe’s top table this season, but can Bodo gain a measure of revenge on what will be an historic night for the club?

Here’s everything you need to know about where to watch this one unfold...

TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 5.45pm BST on TNT Sports 6 before switching channels at 7.45pm to TNT Sports 2 ahead of the 8pm kick-off.

Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.

Thomas Frank will be forced into a defensive reshuffle when Tottenham take on Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night.

Spurs are in Norway for their second Champions League match but Cristian Romero has not travelled with the squad in a blow for the visitors.

Frank said that is just a “precaution” but it means Micky van de Ven will have a new partner alongside him at centre-back, with Kevin Danso expected to start.

Ben Davies is now fit again and has made the trip, though he is unlikely to come into the starting lineup. Pedro Porro should return after starting on the bench over the weekend.

Richarlison is set to have to start once again up front, despite looking fairly tired in the draw with Wolves on Saturday.

The Brazilian has little in the way of competition at the moment, with Mathys Tel unavailable after being left out of the squad for the league phase of this competition.

Dominic Solanke has now undergone surgery on his ankle and will not be back until at least after the international break, while Randal Kolo Muani’s recovery from a dead leg has been slow.

Frank must decide whether to shift Xavi Simons into the No10 role or keep him out on the left, which would mean Lucas Bergvall likely being the most advanced midfielder.

Tottenham return to familiar surroundings as they face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Part of the reason for Spurs earning a seat at Europe’s top table was their Europa League semi-final win over the Norwegian outfit, recording a 5-1 aggregate win.

The north London outfit, who then beat Manchester United in the final, began the league phase of the Champions League with a 1-0 win over Villarreal on matchday one thanks to an own goal from Luiz Junior.

Bodo, meanwhile, fought back from 2-0 down away at Slavia Prague to earn a point as substitutes Daniel Bassi and Sondre Fet made the difference.

History will be made as Bodo host their first-ever Champions League group game and they’ll be seeking to gain a measure of revenge on Tottenham for that Europa League loss not too long ago.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham is scheduled for a 8pm BST kick-off on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The match will take place at the Aspmyra Stadion.

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham team news

Bodo captain Ulrik Saltnes, who scored against Tottenham in last season’s Europa League semi-final first-leg, is set to miss the Champions League tie through illness. He could be joined on the sidelines by Brede Moe and Bassi.

Both players suffered groin injuries in the 3-1 NM Cup win over Odd last Thursday, thus making them doubtful for the visit of Spurs.

Thomas Frank is set to be without Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani once again because of injury, while Mathys Tel is ineligible having not been registered in Tottenham’s Champions League squad.

As a result, Richarlison is set to lead the line for the visitors.

There could be changes behind the Brazilian should Frank opt for a more attack-minded approach with Xavi Simons potentially getting the nod in a more central role.

Pedro Porro is expected to return at right-back after being partially rested against Wolves at the weekend and Pape Matar Sarr is pushing for a first start since the win over Villarreal.

Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham prediction

Tottenham, despite their struggles last season, were far too good for Bodo/Glimt when they met in the Europa League semi-final just a few months ago.

There is no denying that Spurs have improved massively under Frank, even if the weekend’s draw against Wolves highlighted a few issues with the Dane’s approach in certain games.

Still, we expect Tottenham to have too much for the Norwegian side.

Tottenham to win, 2-1.

Description

The Spurs forward has been out for more than a month with an ankle injury, having not featured since the win over Manchester City earlier in the season.

It has been slow progress since then for Solanke, who briefly returned to training last week but was not deemed ready to continue with that.

He therefore sat out Spurs' draw with Wolves on Saturday and Solanke was then not with the first-team squad for training on Monday morning.

That suggests he will not feature in Norway on Tuesday night when Spurs face Bodo/Glimt in their second Champions League match.

Speaking on Friday, Frank insisted it was not a "big" injury and that it was not ligament damage, but admitted Spurs had struggled to get to the bottom of the problem.

"I think sometimes let’s say you’ve got a calf strain or a hamstring or even an ACL, very simple, very easy," Frank said.

"Sometimes it’s just a little more tricky. So this is a little more tricky without being a problem."

Randal Kolo Muani also sat out training to leave him as a major doubt for midweek action.

The Frenchman is still yet to start for Spurs since arriving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, having suffered a dead leg in training over a week ago when colliding with Pape Matar Sarr.

"It is one of those where sometimes they can take a week or other times they can take a couple of weeks because it's started to bleed again unfortunately," Frank said on Friday.

In more positive news for Spurs, Ben Davies and Kota Takai both took part in training on Monday as they return from injury issues of their own.

Takai cannot feature against Bodo/Glimt as he was not included in the club’s Champions League squad for the league phase of the competition.

Yves Bissouma was also left out of the squad but like Takai he trained with the first team before they travel to Norway later in the day.

Thomas Frank has got very few things wrong in the opening months of his Tottenham tenure.

From laying down a marker by dropping Yves Bissouma for being late ahead of the UEFA Super Cup, to overseeing a deserved 2-0 win at the Etihad and transforming the Spurs defence, there have been plenty of positives.

On Saturday though, as his side dropped two points at home to Wolves, it was hard to escape the feeling that Frank did not get it quite right.

Wolves went into the match having not picked up a point in the Premier League this season, but the Spurs boss still went for the safety blanket of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur in front of the defence.

In a game where Spurs were always going to have plenty of the ball, it felt like an unnecessarily safe midfield. The pair had also started in midweek against Doncaster, even if Palhinha was at centre-back in that match, and it was no surprise the summer arrival looked leggy in the second half.

"I think it's fair to say both Rodri and Joao have been very good for us so far in the season," Frank said as an explanation for his selection.

"And Lucas [Bergvall] has been fantastic so you like to keep your players that are a little bit in the flow."

Frank is right that Bentancur and Palhinha have proved an extremely effective partnership at times this season, but that has been in a certain type of game.

The pair were superb away at Manchester City and in the Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain. It also made sense to play both away at Brighton, with Frank understandably keen to opt for that extra security.

However, particularly at home, the shortcomings have also been clear. In last month's defeat to Bournemouth the midfield was not progressive enough and Spurs struggled to create through the middle of the pitch. It was not quite so bad against Wolves, but the issues were similar.

Asked after the match whether he might reflect on the starting lineup as a mistake, Frank said: "I will always look back at it but a good, old coach told me once that the line-up you picked, you did that for a reason and you don’t know what would happen if you pick the other one.

"Maybe you would have lost 2-0. So, I need to go with what I believe in of course. That is not to say I am not watching the game back and not reflecting and thinking about hmm, could we, should we, you never know?

"I actually think first half was quite good and we created enough. We would like to create a bit more, yes but actually after I took Rodri out, you could say it didn’t work because we lost the structure, so who knows?"

Starting only one of Bentancur and Palhinha, and on current form it would surely be the latter, would allow Xavi Simons to play in his more natural No10 role.

I will always look back at it but a good, old coach told me once that the line-up you picked, you did that for a reason and you don’t know what would happen if you pick the other on

Thomas Frank

It is, of course, too simplistic to say that will be an immediate solution to Spurs' problems. Simons started centrally against Doncaster and was quiet, and did little in his brief spell at No10 against Wolves either.

His best moments in a Spurs shirt have come in the middle of the park though, in a bright cameo against Brighton. Lucas Bergvall has shone in a more advanced role but he will still be able to provide his power and drive from a deeper position.

In matches where Spurs are expected to dominate possession, a midfield three of Palhinha, Bergvall and Simons would also allow a more natural winger to come into the side on the left.

Frank's instincts are perhaps to opt for something more cautious, but there is already enough evidence to suggest a rethink is required.

Description

It was a poor night for Tottenham, who needed a stoppage-time equaliser from Joao Palhinha just to earn a 1-1 draw against the side that sit bottom of the Premier League table.

Simons started on the left wing and had very little impact in the first half, before moving into a central position on the hour mark as Spurs pushed for a leveller.

"Also carrying the ball forward and they had to foul him three or four times. But there was a lot of situations where he was not as sharp, I think that's fair to say. I think he would say the same himself.

"But I also think it's natural. You're coming into a new team, a new league. To find that rhythm quick is difficult. And I also think that we said the other time, I think we're very happy with the Brighton performance in many ways.

"I think the first half [against Wolves] was positive also, you know, offensive. But that free flow, floating to have it enough, you know, that we need to keep working on. And then there are just some days where you don't hit the highest level."

Simons played at No10 against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup but his starts in the Premier League have so far all come on the left wing.

Asked if that was because he did not feel Simons had yet adjusted to English football and the demands in a more central position, Frank responded: "No, I don't think [that]. I think it's trying to get the right balance into the team.

"For me also to learn the players and find out how we can get the best players on the pitch at the right time.

"So that I'm of course looking into. I'm very aware that Xavi he can play as a 10. He also got in as a 10 against Brighton because that was the third game in a week.

"And I think that was positive. I think today when he got in as a 10, it didn't really work. And that was not only because of him, by the way. I think the team, the whole team was out of sync in the last 35 minutes or something like that.

"But of course, I try to look into what is the best midfield. I think it's fair to say both Rodri and Joao have been very good for us so far in the season. And Lucas has been fantastic so you like to keep your players that are a little bit in the flow."

A stoppage-time equaliser from Joao Palhinha earned Tottenham a point against Wolves, but this will go down as an incredibly poor night for Thomas Frank’s side.

Wolves earned their first point of the season and yet they left north London disappointed, having been a couple of minutes away from pulling off a shock win.

Instead it was a 1-1 draw, Palhinha running to the corner and whipping his shirt off after finding the back of the net. Most in the stands, though, did not leave in particularly celebratory mood.

This was a sluggish, disjointed performance, particularly in the second half, and Spurs barely had a chance of note after the break until their goal.

Frank and his players now face tricky away tests against Bodo/Glimt and Leeds before the international break and they must significantly improve.

Familiar narrative for Spurs

Spurs had the chance to go just two points off Liverpool at the top of the table and they were facing a Wolves side who had not picked up a Premier League point this season.

This match also came on a day when Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United were all beaten - it felt too good to be true for Spurs and so it proved as they wasted a huge chance to gain significant ground on rivals.

These are the type of fixtures Spurs have slipped up in over the years, handing first Premier League wins of the season to Ipswich and Crystal Palace last term.

Frank has changed a lot already since taking charge but poor displays against out-of-form teams have seemingly carried over into his tenure.

It is more than three years since Spurs last beat Wolves and this result makes it six without a win against them. There were boos from some fans at full-time but past experiences means most were probably not surprised.

This was another frustrating night for Spurs against Wolves

Frank unable to find answers with tweaks

Spurs still had the best part of 40 minutes to respond after falling behind but the response to that Wolves goal was incredibly poor.

There was a panic to the Spurs players, not helped by the home fans becoming increasingly agitated. Guglielmo Vicario hurriedly booted the ball straight out of play on more than one occasion, leaving not just the supporters frustrated but Frank too.

The Spurs boss might also be frustrated with his tactical tweaks, which had little impact and left Spurs looking confused for much of the second period.

Brennan Johnson and Pedro Porro were brought on after an hour in a complete change on the right flank, as Mohammed Kudus shifted over to the left.

Later in the half, Mathys Tel came on for Destiny Udogie in a shift to a back three and it left huge spaces in midfield and at the back. There was no platform from which Spurs could build attacks and pile the pressure on the Wolves defence.

The equaliser came from substitute Pape Matar Sarr laying the ball off for Palhinha, but overall this felt like a match where Frank’s changes and tweaks, of which there were maybe too many, did not help change the momentum.

Kudus the man Spurs turn to

When Xavi Simons signed for Spurs in the final days of the summer transfer window, it felt inevitable that he would become the chief creative threat and the man his team turned to for moments of inspiration.

That might eventually come but for now it is Kudus who you would most rely on for moments of magic.

He had the beating of Hugo Bueno and was electric for much of the first half. Kudus had a goal ruled out for offside after lovely combination play with Lucas Bergvall, while only an outstanding Sam Johnstone save tipped his header onto the bar.

There were dangerous crosses too, one of which was acrobatically turned over by Bergvall and another deflected just out of Richarlison's path.

Tellingly, Simons was brought off in the second half even with Spurs pushing for an equaliser, while Kudus stayed on and was shifted across the pitch.

Having started on the right, he moved over to the left when Brennan Johnson came on and then finished the match at No10. His importance to this Spurs side is key.

Joao Palhinha salvaged a point for Tottenham but it was still a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.

The visitors arrived in north London without a point to their name in the Premier League this season, but Santiago Bueno’s second-half goal put them in front and seemingly on course for a shock victory.

Spurs were poor in response and there was little sign of an equaliser until Joao Palhinha finished brilliantly for Thomas Frank’s side in the third minute of stoppage time.

Standard Sport rates the Spurs players after another frustrating match against Wolves...

Guglielmo Vicario 5

Unlucky for the goal as Wolves scored from a scramble after he made a decent save, but poor with his feet and it added to an edgy atmosphere.

Djed Spence 6

Rare start at right-back and understandably didn’t have the same connection with Mohammed Kudus as Pedro Porro does. Confident enough in defensive work.

Cristian Romero 6

Tried to lead by example by throwing himself into firm challenges and charging up the pitch to press. Left Spurs exposed at the back when they conceded the corner for the goal.

Micky van de Ven 7

Mopped up as ever when Wolves threatened to break and was a calmer head as all around him seemed to fall apart.

Destiny Udogie 5

Powerful bursts forward, particularly in the first half, but his final ball was not good enough. Wastes too many promising situations.

Joao Palhinha 6

Tired showing in midfield, particularly in the second half when not quite getting to interceptions as he normally would. Great finish to earn Spurs a point.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6

Questionable selection to start him alongside Bentancur in a game like this. Tidy on the ball but passing felt fairly safe and replaced after an hour.

Mohammed Kudus 7

Superb first-half display, with one goal ruled out for offside and a header tipped onto the bar. Relentless driving at his man. Not as effective in the second period, along with everyone else around him.

Lucas Bergvall 6

Energetic runs in behind in first half and linked up really well with Kudus. Faded after the break and unable to produce his usual drive from midfield.

Xavi Simons 4

Weak on the ball, several poor touches and booked for a late challenge. Struggling Spurs side needed him to step up but he offered next to nothing.

Richarlison 4

Anonymous up front. Looked leggy and could not catch up with a dangerous Kudus cross in the first half. Injuries to Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani are really starting to hurt.

Substitutes:

Brennan Johnson (Bentancur 63’) 5

Got half an hour on his preferred right wing but barely had a touch beyond one decent cross.

Pedro Porro (Spence 63’) 5

Frank completely changed the right wing on the half hour mark - it had no impact.

Wilson Odobert (Simons 78’) 5

No real conviction when he ran with the ball. Poor crossing.

Pape Matar Sarr (Bergvall 78’) 6

Cushioned the ball for Palhinha to fire in last-gasp equaliser.

Mathys Tel (Udogie 84’) N/A

Tottenham will hope to build some positive momentum as they host Premier League strugglers Wolves on Saturday night.

Thomas Frank’s side came from behind to earn a point away at Brighton last weekend, but got back to winning ways in midweek by knocking Doncaster Rovers out of the Carabao Cup.

That result - which has set up a fourth round meeting with holders Newcastle - continued Tottenham’s impressive start to the season under new head coach Thomas Frank.

On the other hand, it has been quite a bizarre start to the campaign for Wolves. Also into the Carabao Cup fourth round following a win over Everton, but yet to pick up a single point in the Premier League thus far.

Bottom of the table after suffering five straight defeats, Vitor Pereira will need a big performance from his players if they’re to have any chance of moving out of the relegation zone this weekend.

Tottenham vs Wolves team news

Thomas Frank is expected to recall a number of first team players for the visit of Wolves. Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Mohammed Kudus should all return after being rested against Doncaster.

There is a decision to make in the full-back positions with Destiny Udogie fit again. Brennan Johnson’s goal could earn him a start on the flanks as Lucas Bergvall and Xavi Simons operate centrally.

Richarlison is likely to lead the line with Mathys Tel failing to impress in midweek as the lone striker. Dominic Solanke remains injured, as does Randal Kolo Muani.

Summer signing Kota Takai could be in contention for the first time this season.

Wolves were handed a major boost last week with Jorgen Strand Larsen returning from injury against Leeds. He should get the nod over Tolu Arokodare in attack despite the Nigeria international scoring against Everton.

That said, midfielder Andre is set to miss out with a calf problem.

Tottenham vs Wolves prediction

While Wolves have beaten Premier League opposition in the Carabao Cup this season, they can’t buy a win in the Premier League itself.

Spurs will be kicking themselves if they drop points against the bottom team in the division, but we don’t expect that to happen as another routine home win is on the cards.
