Description

Tottenham began their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Reading last Saturday as summer signing Mohammed Kudus made his first appearance following the move from West Ham.

Though before Spurs head to Hong Kong next week for their pre-season summer tour of Asia, they have two more friendlies in the UK against League One opposition.

Spurs will play Wycombe in a behind-closed-doors game at the training ground, before a game away at Luton a few hours later.

The club have said “both fixtures will be contested by the first-team squad, with players divided into two groups to compete in the respective games”.

Meanwhile Frank added: "We wanted an extra game in our schedule to give as many players as many match minutes as possible, in order to put them in the best position, physically.

"We will play two even, strong teams and they will play between 60 and 75 minutes, maybe more. By the end of Saturday, 22 players will have played a lot of match minutes and they will be in a very good place before we go on tour.”

As a result, every Spurs player available for selection is likely to get a run out across the two games. James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, and Dejan Kulusevski are not expected to feature due to injuries sustained last season.

After hosting Wycombe Wanderers at Hotspur Way on Saturday morning, a meeting has been scheduled against a Luton Town side that has suffered back-to-back relegations since their last showdown with Spurs.

The first game, which is behind-closed-doors, is a late addition to the north London outfit’s pre-season schedule and new head coach Thomas Frank has explained it is to give players as many minutes as possible heading into the new season.

Tottenham began their preparations for the new campaign with a 2-0 win over Reading last weekend as summer signing Mohammed Kudus shone alongside Luka Vuskovic.

Luton have won all five of their pre-season friendlies so far this summer and put eight passed Slovenian side Triglav Kranj earlier in the month.

Luton vs Tottenham is scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The match will take place at Kenilworth Road.

Luton vs Tottenham team news

Luton summer signing Hakeem Odoffin will miss the friendly against Tottenham.

A statement reads: “Hakeem Odoffin will be unavailable for selection for a period of time after an MRI scan in his medical flagged an unexpected non-musculoskeletal issue.”

As for Spurs, James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, and Dejan Kulusevski remain sidelined through injury. But Manor Solomon, Richarlison, and summer signing Kota Takai are expected to feature in one of the day’s friendlies.

Frank has already stated that both games on Saturday will feature a mix of senior players.

Luton vs Tottenham prediction

Given the uncertainty over the team selection, it’s clear the result is not too important for Frank as his main focus is to ensure his players get up to full match sharpness as soon as possible.

That’s not to say the new Spurs head coach won’t be out to build on the win over Reading.

It is still early days under Frank so many Spurs players will be keen to impress. The gulf in class between the two squads should see the Europa League winners come out on top.

Spurs to win, 3-1.

Tottenham will step up their pre-season preparations with back-to-back friendlies this weekend.

Spurs have scheduled two games against League One opposition on Saturday as they face Wycombe Wanderers in the morning before taking on Luton Town - who have suffered relegation in successive campaigns.

The first game, which is behind-closed-doors, is a late addition to the north London outfit’s pre-season schedule and new head coach Thomas Frank has explained it is to give players as many minutes as possible heading into the new season.

Tottenham began their preparations for the new campaign with a 2-0 win over Reading last week as summer signing Mohammed Kudus impressed on his first outing for the club.

Meanwhile this will be game number five of pre-season for the Chairboys having lost to Brighton and Sutton, drawn with Barnet and beaten Cheltenham.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Tottenham vs Wycombe is scheduled for a 11am BST kick-off on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The match will take place at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham vs Wycombe team news

Summer signing Kota Takai missed the friendly win over Reading last week with what Frank described as a “minor issue”. Manor Solomon and Richarlison were also absent from the new Spurs head coach’s first game in change.

However, the trio are expected to feature in one of the day’s friendlies.

Frank said: “Manor has a minor calf injury, unfortunately, nothing big. Kota has a minor issue, and we expect him to train next week.

“Richy has trained well, we’re just building him, that’s the big thing, He trained earlier today, and we expect a full training week next week and, right now, we expect him to play next week.”

Wycombe head coach Mike Dodds should be able to name his strongest possible side with the start of the League One season not too far away. Striker Richard Kone has scored three goals in two friendlies thus far and will be out to improve on that tally against Spurs.

Tottenham vs Wycombe prediction

Thomas Frank has made it clear that players getting minutes under their belts is ultimately why an extra pre-season fixture has been added to the schedule.

As a result, there should be plenty of Spurs players aiming to build up their fitness as well as leaving a positive impression on the new manager.

Regardless of the team that starts this fixture, the gulf in class between the two squads will become clear as the Premier League side come out on top.

Tottenham to win, 3-0.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Tottenham and Wycombe have only ever met twice before in an competitive arena. Both games were in the fourth round of the FA Cup with Spurs coming out on top each time - including a seven-goal classic in January 2017.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to be given the Freedom of the City of London - London Evening Standard
Description

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is set to be given the Freedom of the City of London.

Levy was nominated at a City of London meeting yesterday and is expected to receive the honour at a ceremony at Guildhall this year.

The Freedom of the City of London is awarded to individuals “as a way of paying tribute to their outstanding contribution to London or public life, or to celebrate a very significant achievement”.

Levy, 63, has been Spurs chairman since 2001 and is by far the longest-serving chairman in the Premier League.

In May, Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy when they won the Europa League by beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao.

He oversaw the building of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is considered one of the best sporting venues in the world and also hosts music concerts and NFL and rugby matches.

But last season Levy and the Spurs board faced increased protests from Spurs fans, who called for him to “get out of our club”.

This summer has seen the biggest shake-up at Spurs in more than two decades under Enic ownership.

Major changes are being implemented behind the scenes, where a boardroom overhaul has included the departure of Levy’s right-hand woman Donna Cullen and the appointment of former Arsenal director Vinai Venkatesham as the new Spurs chief executive.

Levy last month said Spurs are aiming to win the Premier League and the Champions League after replacing Ange Postecoglou, the manager, with Thomas Frank.

“You saw the outpouring of emotion with the parade [after Spurs won Europa League],” he said. “It was just incredible. We've won a European trophy. But it's not enough. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League.”

Description

The midfielder not travelled with the squad to southern Portugal on Monday due to what Forest said was a private matter that was not transfer-related.

Gibbs-White's future remains uncertain, with Forest considering legal action over Tottenham's approach for him and Spurs still hopeful of a deal

Forest, who say they never gave Spurs permission to speak to Gibbs-White, are looking at whether a confidentiality agreement in his £60million release clause has been breached.

He is said to be keen on a move to Spurs but his team-mate Ola Aina has said the 25-year-old has kept professional.

“He's keeping it professional; I don't know the ins and outs of that," Aina told Sky Sports last weekend.

“He was here today, playing, and he's training, keeping fit as normal.“At the end of the day, we're all professionals - we've got a job to do and that's what Morgan is doing right now. He's keeping it professional."

Description

Thomas Frank says Tottenham have arranged an additional pre-season friendly on Saturday to give players as many minutes as possible heading into the new season.

Spurs will play Wycombe Wanderers in a behind-closed-doors game at Hotspur Way on Saturday morning, before a game Luton at Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.

The club have said “both fixtures will be contested by the first team squad, with players divided into two groups to compete in the respective games”.

Frank said: "We wanted an extra game in our schedule to give as many players as many match minutes as possible, in order to put them in the best position, physically.

"We will play two even, strong teams and they will play between 60 and 75 minutes, maybe more.

"By the end of Saturday, 22 players will have played a lot of match minutes and they will be in a very good place before we go on tour."

Frank's team, who started their pre-season preparations with a routine 2-0 win over Reading last weekend, will host an open training session before taking on Arsenal in Hong Kong in the first north London derby to be played outside of the UK.

Spurs then travel to South Korea, where they will play Newcastle on August 3.

The team will conclude their pre-season by travelling to Germany to take on Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich in on August 7.

Visually impaired Beyoncé fan hits out at 'dehumanising' demand to give up cane at Tottenham stadium gig

Visually impaired Beyoncé fan 'dehumanised' at Tottenham stadium gig - London Evening Standard
Description

A visually impaired Beyoncé fan says she was treated in a “dehumanising” way when asked to give up her cane to access the VIP area at the popstar’s concert last month.

Esther Obigbesan told the BBC she contacted the providers of the VIP package ahead of time to inform them of her access needs, but received no response.

On the day of the concert on June 10, Ms Obigbesan said she was helped to the VIP check-in point by stewards, but when she reached the pitch area was stopped by security.

She claimed they attempted to prevent from entering the standing VIP area, insisting that walking aids were prohibited—despite her explaining that her long cane was a visual aid and did not affect her mobility.

“In the end, I gave up my cane to the medic team and then they let me go down,” she told BBC Radio London's Eddie Nestor. “It was more my confidence and my independence… it felt dehumanising.”

Ms Obigbesan, who spent £489 on her standing VIP ticket, said she was treated as a “health and safety risk” and spent much of the three-hour show crying.

A Tottenham Hotspur spokesperson apologised, refunded her ticket and invited her to a Kendrick Lamar concert on Wednesday as a guest.

While the stadium said its team acted “in the interest of Esther’s safety” on the night of the concert, they acknowledged her experience “did not meet the standards we consider acceptable as a venue”.

After giving up her cane to the medic team, Ms Obigbesan said she later asked a security guard to help her find the toilet, but overheard staff discussing her while inside the cubicle.

She said when she came out of the toilet, security staff had contacted the safety officer who was trying to relocate her.

"They were saying it's not safe for me down there because people won't know I'm visually impaired – I said I could have my cane back,” Ms Obigbesan explained.

She was eventually moved to a seated area two levels above where she had originally been placed, but was distressed for the remainder of the show.

Ms Obigbesan said that while there might have been a miscommunication between the ticket sellers and stadium staff, people with disabilities should not need to warn venues to meet basic needs.

In a statement, Tottenham Hotspur said: "We accept this was not reflective of the VIP package Esther had purchased via the promoter and that her overall experience did not meet the standards we consider acceptable as a venue."

He said: “It's not about seeing the disability aid or the visual aid, it's about seeing the patron… and ensuring that we communicate with them, and not through them, which is what happened in this place.”

Tottenham: Morgan Gibbs-White claim confirmed as transfer saga takes fresh twist - London Evening Standard
Description

Gibbs-White currently finds himself at the centre of a transfer saga involving the two Premier League clubs after the £60m release clause in his contract at the City Ground was activated last week.

However, Forest are unhappy with Spurs’ approach for the England international, claiming the north London outfit were never granted permission to speak to the 25-year-old.

As a result, any deal has been placed on hold at the moment and Forest signalled their intention to keep hold of the midfielder by naming him in their starting line-up against Monaco on Saturday in a pre-season friendly.

A potential twist in the saga, but there is expected to be an update over the next few days as it has been reported that Gibbs-White wants his future sorted before Forest head off to Portugal for a pre-season training camp.

Crucially though, it is understood that whilst the midfielder is pushing to join Spurs, he is remaining professional. A claim confirmed by Aina when speaking to Sky Sports after the goalless draw with Monaco.

Aina said: "He's keeping it professional, I don't know the ins and outs of that.

“At the end of the day, we're all professionals—we've got a job to do and that's what Morgan is doing right now. He's keeping it professional."
