Tottenham transfer target Savinho has issued a clear response to Pep Guardiola confirming that he would miss Manchester City's Premier League opener against Wolves.

The Brazil international, 21, has been identified as an option to strengthen Thomas Frank's attack with the player also seemingly keen on a switch to north London.

Ahead of City's trip to Molineux, Guardiola was asked about Savinho's future and while confirming he would be absent for the next few weeks because of an injury, he also offered a clear verdict.

"If Tottenham in that case - or any other club - wants a player, they should call the club right?" he said in a press conference on Friday. "It's the same like we do. I'm only concerned right now, today, that Savinho will be with us until the end of the season.

"And, hopefully, for many, many years. He's 21-years-old with the potential that he has. He's played a lot of minutes, he has to improve in the final decisions. But he's an extraordinary player, otherwise he would not have played more than 3,000 minutes.

"But in the end - as always - the desire of the players prevails above everything. But they have to arrive to an agreement with the club."

Despite Guardiola suggesting there has been no direct approach, it is being reported that Spurs have seen two offers knocked back but a third proposal - closer to their £70million asking price - is expected to be put forward. Savinho joined Man City last summer for just over £30million.

Since then, he has only scored three goals but 13 assists have also arrived in that time with his potential clear. Savinho also seems determined to reach that with a social media update showing what he is doing while City teammates are in Birmingham.

On Instagram, Savinho uploaded a story on Saturday morning which showed him on a workout bench. The image has been captioned with a blushing and call me hand emoji - which is certainly intriguing.

The wide forward looks to have been on the phone to his agent, with his representatives having flown in from Brazil in an attempt to help a transfer go through, as per The Daily Mail. Attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze is also being actively pursued by Spurs.

Thomas Frank has made three changes to his Tottenham Hotspur side to open the club's Premier League campaign with the visit of Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The north London side host Scott Parker's promoted Clarets side following their penalty shoot-out defeat to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup in Udine on Wednesday night after a 2-2 draw against the Champions League winners.

Frank has had to decide how many members of that Tottenham team are ready to go again so soon after the gruelling game in Italy and indicated on Friday that many have recovered well. Spurs will need to be more dominant with the ball at home against Burnley and that means a return to a back four.

The Tottenham boss suggested that Micky van de Ven would start again and indicated it might be too early for Dominic Solanke to come into the line-up after his ankle injury and both are the case, with Solanke once again among the substitutes.

Richarlison starts again while Brennan Johnson, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall come into the team with Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha and Kevin Danso coming out.

Here's the team Frank has selected to face Burnley:

Description

All connected with Tottenham will be hoping that the club can make some big strides over the coming days when it comes to signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Spurs are in desperate need of a new No.10 right now after James Maddison sustained a long-term ACL injury and joined fellow attacking midfielder Dejan Kulusevski in the treatment room as a result.

Tottenham had looked to address the position prior to Maddison's injury but a move for Morgan Gibbs-White frustratingly fell apart despite activating the release clause in his Nottingham Forest contract. Eze could now be the player to come in and solve the issue for good providing that the clubs can strike an agreement over the England international.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer but Ethan Nwaneri's new contract at the Emirates Stadium meant that a transfer for Eze was not a priority for the Gunners. That in turn has allowed Tottenham to move to the front of the queue for the versatile player and he could prove to be a game-changing signing for Thomas Frank.

As reported by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Eze is expected to be left out of Crystal Palace's squad for Sunday's Premier League game at Chelsea with talks for his replacement already on. His successor at Selhurst Park may be Leicester City ace Bilal el Khannouss, with David Ornstein of the Athletic reporting that the Eagles have approached the Championship club to explore a move for the youngster.

It would appear that Crystal Palace have already got a player in mind if Eze is to move across the capital and that could potentially now work in Tottenham's favour when it comes to wrapping up a deal for the ex-QPR man. If there is to be positive progress on a move for Eze then he could be in line to make his Tottenham debut next weekend if a deal is rubber-stamped.

To make his debut away at Manchester City next Saturday lunchtime, Eze would have to be registered as a Tottenham player by midday on Friday. Premier League rules states that player must be registered by 12pm the last working day before a game in order to be eligible to feature.

That would be some bow for Eze as it would give him the opportunity to make his debut in style against one of the Premier League's best sides. Providing that he does indeed join, his home debut could come against Bournemouth on Saturday, August 30.

Tottenham get Eberechi Eze transfer green light as huge Crystal Palace decisions made

Description

Tottenham look set for a huge Eberechi Eze transfer breakthrough over the coming days with Crystal Palace making two big decisions.

The England international has been identified as Thomas Frank's top target for the attacking midfield role following James Maddison's serious knee injury. North London rivals Arsenal were in the race to sign him but sealing exits is now their priority.

Alongside Eze, Spurs are also actively pursuing Manchester City's Savinho with it claimed that two bids have already been submitted but knocked back by those at Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola has since confirmed that he won't feature against Wolves on Saturday due to injury.

As things stand, it is unclear which attacker may arrive first, but the latest set of updates suggest it is more likely to be Eze.

That is because, in the space of seven days, there was a noticeable change in wording from Palace head coach Oliver Glasner when asked about Eze's future.

"They [Eze and Guehi] are 100% focused on Crystal Palace and then we will see what happens," he admitted last week. "He will play on Sunday [vs Liverpool], definitely." As Glasner revealed, Eze did indeed feature and he went on to play the entirety of the game.

However, that is not so much of a guarantee for the Eagles' Premier League opener on Sunday despite the fact Glasner hopes he will be involved.

“He has trained all week and is preparing in the best way for the Chelsea game," he admitted on Friday. “I expect him to start for us on Sunday.”

His careful wording certainly hints that things could yet change and it looks as though exactly that has happened. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Eze is expected to be left out of Palace's squad for the trip to Stamford Bridge with talks for his replacement already on.

In that report, it is not revealed who that player may be, but The Athletic's David Ornstein has seemingly confirmed it is Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss, with an approach made to explore a move for the Morocco international.

While no bid has been submitted, he is considered an option if or when Eze leaves, with Spurs pushing. With the player keen and Tottenham also wanting him signed swiftly, the two parties agreeing a fee will be the challenge.

His release clause, believed to be around £67.5million, has only recently expired, with it therefore unclear if Palace will want a high overall fee and potentially more funds upfront.

Tottenham's 2025/26 Premier League season gets under way on Saturday with Burnley making the trip to N17. Thomas Frank will be looking to mark his first appearance as Spurs boss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with three points as the team bid to follow up a very impressive UEFA Super Cup final display against PSG.

On the eve of the new Premier League campaign, Spurs confirmed their squad numbers for the new term. The Lilywhites had previously announced that Radu Dragusin had swapped No.6 for No.3, with new signing Joao Palhinha inheriting the Romanian's old number as a result.

The full list of squad numbers was finally confirmed late on Friday evening, with new arrivals Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai taking on No.16 and No.25 respectively. The pair had been handed No.80 and No.81 for pre-season.

Fellow new boy Mohammed Kudus is the club's No.20, although this was previously confirmed by Spurs in July following his big-money move from West Ham. One player who has not been handed a number for the 2025/26 season is Bryan Gil, who saw Mathys Tel get his No.11 shirt at the end of the January transfer window.

The Spaniard is now in the final year of his contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the club ideally have to find him a permanent move this summer rather than run the risk of losing him for nothing at the end of the campaign. Son Heung-min's No.7 shirt remains vacant for the time being following his transfer to LAFC after ten years in north London.

The number may well appeal to Eberechi Eze if Tottenham can agree on a deal with Crystal Palace for the England international as they look to upgrade their attack. Man City winger Savinho is also a player of interest to Tottenham but he may not be able to get the No.26 he currently wears if he is to join the club as no player has worn it for Spurs since club great Ledley King retired back in 2012.

Here are Tottenham's official squad numbers for the 2025/26 season:

Tottenham vs Burnley Premier League clash simulated as a five-goal thriller predicted - Football London
Description

After their Super Cup heartbreak, Tottenham will be looking to bounce back as they take on newly-promoted Burnley in the first game of the new Premier League season.

After going 2-0 up, a late PSG comeback took the Super Cup to penalties, where Spurs were beaten 4-3 on spot kicks as they narrowly missed out on the trophy. It was a tough loss for Thomas Frank's side to take, but now, all attention turns to the return of the Premier League.

Spurs kick off the new campaign against Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Clarets earning promotion to the Premier League after tallying 100 points to finish second in the Championship last season. After missing out against PSG due to disciplinary reasons, Frank has revealed that Yves Bissouma will be available for selection once again against Burnley.

So, can Spurs pick up three points in the Premier League later today? Let's take a look.

We simulated Tottenham vs Burnley to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries, suspensions, and transfers. The kits from the 2025/26 season aren't available in EA FC 25, so both sides were lined up in last season's kits, while new transfers may have incorrect squad numbers in-game.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha; Kudus, Sarr, Odobert; Richarlison.

We predict that Burnley could line up in a 5-4-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Weiss; Sonne, Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Mejbri, Laurent, Cullen, Anthony; Foster.

Just two minutes in, Burnley managed to silence the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Lyle Foster firing an incredible strike into the top corner from 25 yards out to put the visitors into a shock lead. Spurs couldn't find a response before half-time, but a quickfire double just after the restart saw the Lilywhites turn the game on its head.

An early corner in the second half led to Spurs' equaliser, with Richarlison ensuring Cristian Romero's header crossed the line as he fired home the Argentine's goalbound effort from one yard out. Moments later, the striker scored a goal of a much higher class, with the Brazilian drilling a shot into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

Burnley still offered a threat to Spurs as they searched for a way back into the game, but with 20 minutes to go, Frank's side doubled their lead when Djed Spence blasted into the roof of the net from a tight angle inside the box. Spurs' third of the afternoon seemed to kill off any hope of a Burnley comeback, and in the 90th minute, the Lilywhites ensured the three points by grabbing a fourth of the game.

After losing the ball on the edge of the box, Richarlison recovered brilliantly to hunt down his man, win back possession, and slide a pass into the path of Brennan Johnson. The winger surged into the space left behind by the defender, and his curling effort nestled in the far corner to make it 4-1.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Tottenham 4-1 Burnley

Thomas Frank and Tottenham must avoid nightmare Eberechi Eze Arsenal transfer scenario

Description

Tottenham are usually late movers in the transfer market. The club have completed numerous deals later on in the transfer window in the past, including back in February with Mathys Tel sealing a switch from Bayern Munich on deadline day.

Tottenham have been active in the market this summer but it's clear to see that they still have deals to finalise before the window closes for business on Monday, September 1. A new centre-back, No.10 and left winger are on the club's shopping list when it comes to adding to Thomas Frank's squad.

In terms of a brand new No.10, Eberechi Eze is the player in the headlines at present with a big-money move from Crystal Palace a possibility. The England international would be a statement signing for Tottenham and it could be a gamechanger for the club.

Eze has been linked with a move to north London already this summer as Arsenal have been interested in luring him to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have had other areas in the transfer market to strengthen first and foremost, with a new deal for Ethan Nwaneri and the emergence of Max Dowman meaning that Eze is not a priority for Arsenal in the final few weeks of the window.

What could potentially change matters for Arsenal is if a few players are moved on over the next fortnight or so, with Leandro Trossard linked with Aston Villa, and that could possibly open up Arsenal's pathway to sealing a deal for Eze. In the latest episode of Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham, Lee Wilmot, football.london's head of football, mentioned the need for Tottenham to finalise a deal for Eze ASAP just in case of a late transfer threat from their fierce north London rivals.
