Micky van de Ven delivers strong Ange Postecoglou response and makes clear injury statement - Football London
Description

Micky van de Ven made some strong statements at his press conference in Frankfurt on Wednesday evening ahead of Tottenham's Europa League quarter-final second leg and we've got a full transcript with every word the young Dutchman said.

It's a big night on Thursday with Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt doing battle at the Deutsche Bank Park with the score tied at 1-1 from the first leg in N17. Van de Ven was up before the media in Frankfurt and was asked plenty of questions, ranging from the future of his manager Ange Postecoglou, his own injury status, whether he minds missing every other game and also what effect he thinks his hamstring problems could have on the rest of his career.

Our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold was among those putting the questions to Van de Ven. Here's a full transcript from his press conference at Deutsche Bank Park.

How are you feeling body-wise, rhythm-wise as you're playing every other game at the moment?

I'm feeling well. Every week you play a game...normal teams that don't play Europe, they play like this, so you play on a weekend, have a week off and then play on the weekend again. So to be honest I feel good, I feel recovered and I feel sharp. I'm ready to go.

It's a big game and there's been plenty of speculation around the manager, how much do you want to win for Ange?

We all still have the trust in the gaffer and still have trust in the way he's playing, so tomorrow we want to win the game of course for him, but also for us, also for the club, and also for the fans. It hasn't been a really good season, but it's a big game for us and of course we want to achieve something special this season. I think this is the best way to do it.

Does the season hinge on this?

Of course, we have also some Premier League games to play, but if we want to win some silverware, of course it has to be the Europa League, and we have to win this game to go to the next round. It's a big game for us, yeah.

What's Ange's message been to the players?

That it's a big game for us, but it's also a game like every week. We have to play our best football, we have to play the way we want to play, we want to create as many chances as we did in the last game against them. Hopefully we can win this game and go to the next round.

Are you worried about the long-term impact of injuries on your career?

No not really. I recovered well. Of course, I had some injuries in the last couple of years, but I'm feeling well and I'm not really worried about something for my future. I know I train and do everything to make my hamstrings as strong as possible, and the rest of my body also, so I don't really stress about something for my future.

Robin Koch says the stadium will be like a lions' den, what do you remember about the atmosphere from your games here in the atmosphere and have you told your team-mates?

To be honest I haven't really spoken with the guys about the atmosphere, but I know it's going to be a good atmosphere. The last time I played here with Wolfsburg was also a tough game, the fans are really behind the team, so it will be a 12th man, but I think we should be fine. Of course there will be noise but we need to focus on the pitch, that's the most important thing. It's going to be a good atmosphere, but we're ready for it.

You know Vicario and Romero well, they made mistakes on Sunday, how have they processed it?

I think making a mistake is normal. Of course after the game they were sad to make mistakes because they expect better from themselves. it can happen that you can make a mistake and after the game you can’t accept that form yourself. But now if you look at them they are ready to go for the game tomorrow and they are as sharp as they normally are.

What's your fitness situation - why aren’t you playing every game? You've been to seek outside help haven't you?

Why I don’t play every week, that’s not a question you shouldn't ask me, you have to ask the gaffer. But body-wise I'm feeling really well and really good - why I don’t play every week you will have to ask the gaffer for this. But I’m feeling well. I’ve seen some people outside of the training ground, some specialists. They have been helping me with running and understanding my body a bit more and I've learned some things from them. Like I said, I feel really good right now and ready to go.

How important is playing every game and how important is playing in Europe for you?

Of course I want to play every game. Football is what you love the most, every game you want to play. But yeah, Europa League is a really important competition for us this season, we have some Premier League games ahead of us but we want to win some silverware and qualify for a European tournament next season, then of course, the Europa League is a really important stage for us.

You mentioned it's a really big game, do you want to prove something to the fans?

Yes, it hasn't been our best season of course but we also want to prove to them that we have the quality and ability to prove we are a really good team. And when everybody is fit and the whole team is strong, we can achieve some beautiful things. Hopefully we can show this tomorrow to our own fans but also to those that are doubting us.

How much confidence can you take from the AZ comeback?

Also I think in the first leg against Frankfurt we played a really good game, we created a lot of chances. It gave us a lot of confidence, it showed us that we can play against this strong Frankfurt. We have big confidence for tomorrow and we want to show what we did in the first leg and hopefully we can go through to the next round.

You're only 23, but viewed as leader, how important will that leadership be?

I want to help the guys like I always do, this is a very big game, it's the quarterfinal of a European competition. I want to go into every big game and help the guys push towards the goal we want to reach.

With Hugo Ekitike, how does he compare to Isak with his 21 goals?

Yeah, he's a really good player and scored a really good goal against us. Tomorrow it's going to be me and the players playing next to me, it's going to be our job to eliminate him from the game tomorrow. He's an unbelievable threat from them, we want to eliminate him tomorrow and get the win.

Four players could miss Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham after huge Son Heung-Min update - Football London
Description

Tottenham have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Europa League quarter-final second leg against Eintracht Frankfurt, with Son Heung-Min still unavailable.

Son missed the 4-2 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League last weekend and hasn't travelled with the squad to Germany. Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Wednesday that he has been suffering with a foot injury in recent weeks.

"He's been battling with his foot problem for a few weeks now and managed [to play] through it," the Spurs boss said. "He trained the last few days, he tried to train yesterday and it wasn't right so we made the decision to leave him at home to allow him to recuperate and see the best mode of recovery for him."

Despite the significant blow, Kevin Danso is set to return to squad, after missing the last four Premier League games with a thigh issue.

"Danso hasn’t featured since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in early March, but his return comes as a major boost for Postecoglou.

Tottenham will look to secure a place in the semi-final of the Europa League at Frankfurt after being held to a 1-1 draw at home last week. Pedro Porro scored the only goal for Spurs, cancelling Hugo Ekitike's six-minute opener.

In addition to Son's absence, Radu Dragusin will also remain unavailable. The centre-back, who suffered a cruciate ligament tear in February, is expected to miss the remainder of the season as he continues his recovery.

As for the hosts, Frankfurt will remain without goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and Krisztian Lisztes.

"It’s nice that Ansgar Knauff and Kevin Trapp are back," head coach Dino Toppmoller said. Trapp won’t be involved yet tomorrow. Knauff will be back in the squad."

The 44-year-old also hailed Spurs' quality, anticipating a tough test for his team. "We know all about the quality Tottenham have and that it’ll be extremely tough," Toppmoller added.

"But we’re also confident in our own qualities and what we’ve achieved on the pitch. Tottenham’s 4-2 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at the weekend is irrelevant because they’re only focusing on the Europa League."

Every word Ange Postecoglou said on Son injury, his Tottenham future and Romero's big response - Football London
Description

Ange Postecoglou had plenty to say at his press conference in Frankfurt ahead of Tottenham's Europa League quarter-final second leg and we've got a full transcript with every word the Australian said.

With the score tied at 1-1 from the first leg in north London, Tottenham are looking to bring a special end to a season that has otherwise brought plenty of pain as they sit 15th in the Premier League, only two points above 17th-placed Wolves, who beat them 4-2 on Sunday at Molineux.

Postecoglou spoke to the media in Germany and revealed some bad news about captain Son Heung-min and a positive update on centre-back Kevin Danso.

The Tottenham boss was also asked about his future with many speculating that a defeat in Frankfurt could spell the end of his time in the Lilywhites' hotseat.

Our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold was among those putting the questions to Postecoglou. Here's a full transcript from his press conference at Deutsche Bank Park.

Is it fair to say the hopes of salvaging the season come down to tomorrow night and what’s your message been to your players?

Yeah, I don’t see it as salvaging the season, I see it as an opportunity to do something special, so it depends on your outlook on life mate, I don’t know. You’re at a point where you have got an opportunity to get to the semi-finals of a major competition. Obviously you know the challenge before you and that’s the bit you’re excited about. I don’t think it is about salvaging anything and you know these opportunities don’t come round very often even if you’re having a good season, so why not take it? That has kind of been the message to the players. Irrespective of everything else that has happened this year, we’re a game away from the final four of a major competition and we shouldn’t take that for granted in terms of something that is a regular occurrence because it certainly hasn’t been for this club, but we’ll try to take advantage of that.

Has everyone travelled and is Sonny fit to play?

Sonny didn’t travel in the end. He’s the only one who misses out. He has been battling with this foot problem for a few weeks now and he’s managed through it, but it’s got too painful over the last few days. He tried to train yesterday and just wasn’t right, so we’ve made the decision to leave him at home to allow him to recuperate to see the best way to recovery for him. Everyone else is good. I guess the only notable addition is Kevin, who trained and is available as well, so really it’s only Sonny that misses out.

Sonny’s your captain and you are missing him for the biggest game of the season, what kind of blow is that?

Yeah, look it’s a blow but it’s consistent with everything else that’s happened this year, so it’s just another challenge for us to overcome. Unfortunate for him and he tried really hard. The reason we left him out at weekend was to give him time to recover because he’s been struggling with this foot thing for a couple of weeks now, but he couldn’t make it. You know, we’ve had these challenges all year and it’s just another we need to overcome.

When it comes to your future - do you know what’s going to happen with you whatever happens this season?

Do I know? No, I’ve got no idea. We’ve got a game tomorrow night… but it’s not something I need to think about I don’t think. I’ve never thought about those kind of things in terms of what’s important. What’s important is we have a game tomorrow night that’s a massive opportunity for this group of players, for us as a team, for this football club to get to closer to achieving what everyone wants to achieve. I think anything else other than that, and particularly in terms of me, I don’t have much thought process that thinks about life or my career or what I’m doing in that way. What I do know is we have an opportunity to get to the final four of a major tournament and that’s where my focus is.

Dominic Solanke hasn’t scored in his past 11 games, what do you think the reason has been for that?

Dom has fought really hard for the team. He’s going to be important for us tomorrow night and we’re really looking forward to his contribution.

The narrative over your future - is it a personal burden for you? Are you feeling it?

No, not at all, mate, because I don’t define my career and me as a person by what people think about me. I never have. Never will. If you don’t think I’m a good coach today, you won’t think I’m a good coach tomorrow, even if we win, mate. One game ain’t going to make a difference to that. You either think I’m capable of doing the job now or you don’t. That’s where I sit with these things. If people think that us winning tomorrow all of a sudden makes me a better manager than what I am today or us losing tomorrow somehow makes me a worse manager, I guess that’s their burden, not mine.

I don’t think that way and I don’t think most people think that way. Or I’d like to think they don’t, in terms of their own sort of self esteem and who they are as people. I couldn’t care less. Really. I couldn’t care less. There’s no burden on me, there’s no anxiety on me. What I’m sitting here doing is thinking we’ve got a great opportunity to get to the final four of a major tournament. Mate, I’m not going to let that slip by without fighting tooth and nail for it irrespective of what may come the day after.

How does it feel to have everyone back barring Sonny and is Dejan Kulusevski ready to start?

It’s massively positive because you realise when we’ve got everyone together, we’ve got a really exciting young squad that I think we can build on. Irrespective of how the game goes, we have got opportunities to make impacts with substitutions. And just the general feeling around the place. The other thing it does, apart from Sonny obviously which is really disappointing, everyone's excited, all the players are looking forward to it. We've had a lot of players who have had to train on their own, deal with the mental grind of trying to get themselves back in amongst the group.

And that affects the general feeling around the place because invariably there isn't this overwhelming feeling of everyone being in it together because players have got their own individual battles to overcome. We've had more doing that than as a core group to solidify those things you need to in terms of team spirit. So just having the whole group together; the dynamics of training, the dynamics of the dressing room, even the dynamics when you travel. For the most part, everyone's got their best buddy with them. They're not back at home. It's a good feeling and you miss it when you've had the kind of season we've had.

How important will the senior players be in the atmosphere?

Yeah I think so. Especially playing away in Europe, it's always a challenge. The experiences we've had this year have been good for that, we've visited some tough places in terms of atmospheres - Galatasaray away, Ibrox, AZ. And a lot of our younger players got exposed to that which I think will be helpful. But there's no doubt that come tomorrow, the experienced guys in the squad who have probably been through something similar will be hugely important for us. And having the key ones apart from Sonny all being fit and available, and feeling good in terms of conditioning, is going to be important.

How have Vicario and Romero responded to Sunday's mistakes? How are they feeling?

It was a tough afternoon and they were disappointed. But the thing about both of them is they don't shy away from that responsibility. They owned up to it, the mistakes were on them but once we reviewed it and put it to bed, they trained the next day with the mentality you expect them to as leaders and experienced players. I guess if they were going to make errors like that, it's better they did it on Sunday than tomorrow night. It's better they don't make them at all but they're human beings, these things happen. Both have got a really good mentality, they're both strong leaders, they're both strong individuals. They weren't hiding away from the fact that they made those mistakes, they owned up to them which is no surprise to me. And I think they'll go out tomorrow night not thinking about that but, again, thinking about the opportunity for us.

Ange Postecoglou provides Son Heung-min injury update ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham - Football London
Description

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has not travelled to Germany ahead of Spurs' Europa League quarter-final second leg clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Son missed the weekend's 4-2 loss to Wolves in the Premier League and will again be absent on Thursday night. Postecoglou confirmed on Wednesday that the South Korean has been suffering with a foot injury in recent weeks.

The Australian said: "Sonny didn't travel and he's the only one who hasn't travelled. He's been struggling with his foot for a couple of weeks now and has been in pain. Everyone else is good. Kevin [Danso] trained and is available."

Danso has not made an appearance since the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in early March but his return is a huge boost to Postecoglou. Danso has been suffering with a hamstring injury but now looks set to be named in the squad to face Frankfurt on Thursday evening.

At Molineux on Sunday, Postecoglou revealed that Son had a knock on his foot and there was no point in him travelling with such a big game on the agenda, with the Australian then confirming after the game that his experienced attacker should be fine for Thursday.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been warned of the intense atmosphere they will face at Deutsche Bank Park when they go up against Eintracht Frankfurt for their decisive Europa League quarter-final second leg. Following a tense 1-1 draw at home, Spurs' European campaign is at a crucial stage as the Lilywhites bid to win in Germany to save their season.

Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller made reference to the partisan support Frankfurt would receive after the stalemate and their last meeting with an English opponent in West Ham in 2022 produced an end-of-match pitch invasion with fans letting off flares. Asked how loud it will be, Toppmoller smiled: “They will feel it tomorrow.

“There are many factors which are important. The key for success tomorrow will be that we have a good start into the match, we are right away on the pitch and that we make use of the advantage of playing at home.”

Former Leeds defender Robin Koch acknowledged it would be foolish to expect Tottenham to crumble amid a hostile environment, but backed the Frankfurt supporters to turn the stadium into a cauldron of noise.

Koch added: “Well, I think we shouldn’t count on that and shouldn’t expect that Tottenham all of a sudden don’t know how to play football because they are away.

“They play for everything tomorrow. Their league is more or less done, so they will give it everything and then especially in the connection with our public, the stadium will be a lion’s den but I don’t think Tottenham will give up too early."

Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike continued his impressive form with a goal in their 3-0 victory over Heidenheim, while Tottenham faced another setback with a 4-2 defeat at Wolves, marking their fourth consecutive away loss and piling pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou. Despite Spurs' struggles, Toppmoller acknowledged the quality of the north London side.

Toppmoller insisted: “We still know about the quality of Tottenham. Of course I know the results they had recently, but they won also at Manchester United, they won at Man City. These are not little successes. It is quite special to win matches.

“The match from last weekend doesn’t say anything because the only thing where they can reach anything is the Europa League so all their focus is on the Europa League.”

Koch added: “You can feel it all over the city, in the club, in our team and everyone is looking forward to the match.”

Description

Tottenham Hotspur could be without two of their key players for a lengthy spell next season.

Spurs are currently enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier League but still have the chance to win a major trophy via the Europa League. Victory in Europe this term would see Ange Postecoglou's side qualify for the Champions League, regardless of where they finish in the top flight standings.

It remains to be seen what exact competitions Tottenham will be playing in next season, in terms of Europe, at least, but there will still be 38 Premier League fixtures and at least two domestic cup matches across the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Spurs will need every member of their squad for the next campaign but will be without at least two for an extended spell next winter. Later this year will see the Africa Cup of Nations take place in the middle of the Premier League season.

The tournament will be held in Morocco and begin on December 21 before coming to a close on January 18. AFCON was originally scheduled to be played in the summer of 2025.

However, due to the new format of the Club World Cup by FIFA taking place this summer instead, the tournament has been pushed back to the middle of next season. During this time, Spurs could be without two key players for up to a month.

Yves Bissouma could be part of the Mali squad that features in the tournament, while Pape Matar Sarr will hope to feature for Senegal. Both Mali and Senegal have qualified for the tournament, meaning Bissouma and Sarr could be in line to leave the Spurs camp to link up with their national teams next season.

If the duo are selected by their respective countries, they could miss several important matches for Tottenham. The full schedule for the 2025/26 Premier League season is yet to be announced, but Bissouma and Sarr could miss up to six top-flight matches if the fixture list follows the same pattern as this term.

There would also be the guarantee of missing the FA Cup third-round tie, which will be played in early January next year.

If Tottenham were to reach the Carabao Cup semi-final, as they did this season, Bissouma and Sarr could also play both legs of the semi-final based on this season's schedule.

It may also be possible that the duo would not be available for the quarter-final, which was played on December 19 this term.

Plus, if Tottenham were to qualify for next season's Champions League, they could be without Bissouma and Sarr for one important fixture.

The seventh match of the league phase of the tournament is pencilled in to be played across January 20 and 21 next season, meaning if Mali and Senegal were to both reach the AFCON final, then the Spurs duo would likely be unavailable for the fixt

Ange Postecoglou press conference LIVE - Tottenham boss on his future, Son injury and Frankfurt - Football London
Description

Ange Postecoglou and Micky van de Ven are holding their press conferences ahead of Tottenham's Europa League quarter-final second leg in Frankfurt.

Spurs are in Germany ahead of a match that will go a long way to defining their season, with the score tied at 1-1 from the first leg in north London. Tottenham have endured a horrendous Premier League campaign and sit 15th in the table, just two points above 17th-placed Wolves, who beat them 4-2 on Sunday at Molineux.

Now Tottenham must find a way to regroup and overcome Frankfurt, who sit third in the Bundesliga table and will be backed by a noisy home crowd.

Postecoglou will be speaking to the media about the game as well as the speculation surrounding his future, with many expecting the result of this European clash to decide what comes next for the Australian. He will also provide an update on the latest injury news, including Son Heung-min, who had a knock to his foot that required rest and recovery as he missed the defeat in Wolverhampton.

Van de Ven is no stranger to injury this season and has missed much of the campaign with hamstring issues. He was rested for Sunday's game, left unused on the bench, and the young Dutchman will speak about his difficult time and the need for Spurs to provide a strong end to the season.

Our Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting questions to Postecoglou and Van de Ven. Scroll down for his latest updates from the two press conferences at Deutsche Bank Park.

Tottenham star may have already played his last game for the club as predicament laid bare - Football London
Description

Timo Werner will only be able to watch on when Tottenham play in his native Germany on Thursday evening. The attacker does have quite a good record when facing Eintracht Frankfurt having contributed six goals and two assists in 17 games against them during his time in the Bundesliga.

However, Ange Postecoglou will not be able to turn to him at Deutsche Bank Park. The reason for that is because Werner was cut from the head coach's European squad at the beginning of February in order to accommodate January arrival Mathys Tel.

Amid his struggles in a Tottenham shirt since returning on a year-long loan from RB Leipzig in the summer, his European omission was perhaps a straightforward decision and one that didn't shock many supporters. After all, he looks a shadow of the player that came to the attention of Europe's top clubs only a few years ago due to his fine record in front of goal for RB Leipzig.

That has unfortunately deserted him, as has his confidence, since his move to England, with the 29-year-old only managing one goal in 27 appearances in all competitions this season. Werner's last appearance for Spurs came at the end of February as he was introduced for the final eight minutes of their 1-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Since then he has not made the matchday squad once in their last five Premier League games. Tottenham have seen an increase in their attacking options over the past month or so following some good news on the injury front, thus resulting in Werner taking his place in the stands.

There have been occasions where the Stuttgart-born player could have come into Postecoglou's squad but he instead opted to name Mikey Moore on the substitutes' bench in two of their last three Premier League games. Again, that is not so much of a surprise given the teenager's lively cameos at times this season and also because he has a long-term future in N17 whereas Werner does not.

Werner may have indeed already played his last game for Tottenham with very few fixtures left in the 2024/25 season. Spurs have six games remaining in the league and potentially another three on top of Thursday's match in Frankfurt if they are to go all the way in the Europa League.

The former Chelsea man is not eligible in Europe and he looks to have quite the challenge on his hands to even regain his place in the Premier League matchday squad now that only Radu Dragusin is in the treatment room. He has only played once for Tottenham since returning from a hamstring injury sustained in early January and it may stay that way for him between now and the end of the season.

The only thing he can do right now is work hard in training, which he was doing ahead of the Eintracht Frankfurt match, and hope that an opportunity arises in what remains of the season. It has been a truly forgetful loan for Werner and it's not exactly clear where he will be playing his football next season ahead of his summer return to parent club RB Leipzig.

One thing for sure is it's extremely unlikely to be at Tottenham as they plan for the years ahead after a dismal campaign to date.

Son and Odobert boost, injured man returns - 4 things spotted in Tottenham training for Frankfurt - Football London
Description

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad are ramping up their preparations ahead of Thursday evening's Europa League showdown against Eintracht Frankfurt. It is literally all or nothing for Postecoglou and Spurs as they look to try and finish a wretched season on a positive note.

Unable to get the win in north London last Thursday despite fashioning some good chances, the Lilywhites are going to have to try and produce something special in Germany given Eintracht Frankfurt's record in the competition this term. Dino Toppmoller's team have yet to lose in five Europa League home games, with their last European fixture at Deutsche Bank Park seeing them beat Dutch giants Ajax 4-1.

Ahead of departing for Germany on Wednesday afternoon, the Tottenham team have been putting in the work at the club's Hotspur Way training base. Here are four things we spotted from their latest training session:

Injury boost

Postecoglou and Spurs have received some welcome news ahead of the Frankfurt clash with Kevin Danso returning to training. Making a name for himself at centre-back since joining from Lens at the end of the January window, the centre-back has not made an appearance since the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in early March.

Danso has been suffering with a hamstring injury but it would appear that he is now in a position to return to the matchday squad. The ex-Southampton man was involved with his teammates at their Enfield base and his return means Spurs now only have Radu Dragusin in the treatment room after their previous injury struggles.

Danso will more than likely take his place on the bench in Frankfurt unless Postecoglou elects to bring him in from the off.

Son hiding

Tottenham have received a boost going into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie after Son Heung-min was spotted with the squad. The Tottenham captain was absent from the matchday party on Sunday for the 4-2 defeat at Wolves.

Speaking at Molineux, Postecoglou revealed that Son had a knock on his foot and there was no point in him travelling with such a big game on the agenda, with the Australian then confirming after the game that his experienced attacker should be fine for Thursday. In Tottenham's latest training video, Son could be seen hiding behind Danso when the club's media team were recording the players making their way out to training.

The South Korean could then be seen working with the rest of the squad as they went through a number of warm-up drills. It will now be down to Postecoglou to decide whether Son starts or he chooses another option on the left flank.

Odobert boost

Son wasn't the only absent player at Molineux on Sunday as Wilson Odobert was also missing. Postecoglou revealed that he was simply "managing him" and that the winger should be in a position to return for the game in Germany.

Odobert was another to take his place in training at Hotspur Way ahead of the crunch Europa League game. Postecoglou will certainly have options on the wing for the game in Germany with all his attackers appearing to be available.

Ineligible players involved

Tottenham have a handful of players who are not eligible to feature for the team in Europe due to UEFA's squad rules. As Tottenham could only name a squad of 23 players rather than the standard 25 due to only having two of the required four club-trained players, some stars have had to watch on from the stands when the team are in European action.

Fraser Forster, Timo Werner and Dragusin were the three to be cut from the original squad when changes could be made at the beginning of February following the closure of the transfer window. Sergio Reguilon once again missed out on selection and there was to be no place for January addition Antonin Kinsky.

Kinsky, Reguilon and Werner could be seen putting in the work with their teammates in training despite the fact that they cannot play in Europe for Tottenham. Forster, on the other hand, didn't appear to be with the rest of the goalkeepers as they trained away from the outfield players.

Harry Kane and Eric Dier set up Champions League reunion with former Tottenham ace - Football London
Description

Dele Alli reunited with his former Tottenham Hotspur team-mates Harry Kane and Eric Dier ahead of the duo's Champions League quarter-final clash against Inter Milan this week.

The trio spent several years together at Spurs, most notably under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino between 2014 and 2019 as the North Londoners reached the Champions League final.

But after failing to find his best form under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, Dele left Spurs in January 2022 to sign for Everton.

However, the midfielder was unable to find his feet at Goodison Park either and after a loan spell at Besiktas, he joined Serie A outfit Como earlier this year.

Kane and Dier, meanwhile, left Tottenham to join Bayern Munich in the 2023/24 season after more than a decade in the first team.

Dele celebrated the trio's reunion on Tuesday night by writing on Instagram: "Good to catch up with my brothers today! Good luck tomorrow, mandem."

Bayern Munich are in Italy ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Inter Milan, with the Bundesliga side needing to overturn last week's 2-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena if they are to progress to the semi-finals of the competition for the second consecutive season.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's match, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany said: "There's an anticipation for this match, it feels proper. It doesn't get much better. The most important thing is that we deliver our best performance.

"We have to be there in the key moments, defend well and score the goals up front. The belief is there, at the end of the day we just need to win one match.

"We always play to win. Hopefully we can experience a very special night, also for our fans."

Six-time winners Bayern Munich could face Arsenal in the final at the Allianz Arena on May 31.
