Description

Tottenham's non-executive chairman Peter Charrington has released a message to the club's fanbase to explain what his role entails.

Charrington had already been on the board at Spurs since earlier this year, but after Daniel Levy's departure from the club as executive chairman this month, he stepped up into a new role as a part-time guiding figure for CEO Vinai Venkatesham, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Premier League club.

It has been a month with three rejected takeover approaches to the club's owners ENIC and the Lewis family, with the latest show of interest coming from tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick heading up a US consortium. ENIC have once again stated that the club is not for sale and all eyes are now on whether the former DJ and his consortium actually make a bid for the north London club.

In the meantime Charrington has released a message through the club to the supporters on the eve of their Premier League game against Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

"Dear Supporter, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you following my recent appointment as Non-Executive Chairman of this great Football Club," it read.

"Many of you may have questions as to what my role entails and what it means in terms of how we run the Club moving forward. Firstly, it’s important to point out that I am not entirely new to Spurs. I joined as a Non-Executive Director back in March and I have therefore already gained an understanding as to what this Club is all about.

"Our Europa League victory in Bilbao demonstrated the impact of winning trophies and what it means to our fans both here and around the world. It’s something the Board and I want you all to experience on many more occasions.

"I have had the pleasure of knowing the Lewis family for many years and can speak to how passionate Viv, Charlie and the family all are about seeing this Club truly reach its full potential.

"I see my role as Non-Executive Chairman to be about empowering our teams at leadership level and throughout the organisation to deliver on our stated objective of long-term sporting success.

"Over the last six months I have had the privilege of meeting the many talented people within our Club driving us forward every single day – both on and off the pitch. This includes our Head Coaches, Thomas and Martin, who have shared with me their drive to develop winning Men’s and Women’s teams. My focus is on providing them with all the necessary tools to create a winning culture, with the aim that this will translate to success on the pitch.

"In Vinai, we have a CEO who is a fantastic leader and figurehead for our Club, and I will support him in delivering on our vision, developing talent within the organisation and ensuring supporters are at the heart of our decision-making.

"In terms of you - our fans - I am extremely proud of the inclusivity of our Spurs family and how we as a Club engage with the various supporter groups that make up our rich, diverse, global fanbase. I am keen we listen to our fans and understand different perspectives from all sections of our support, and I look forward to meeting with our Fan Advisory Board for the first time in the coming months to learn more about what matters most to you.

"I’ve attended various games and experienced the special atmosphere our fans create in the stadium first-hand, working with independent groups such as THFC Flags, who designed the incredible Tifo display we saw at last Tuesday’s Champions League game with Villarreal.

"I look forward to sharing many more special occasions like these with you all in the years to come. Peter."

Tottenham Hotspur are back in action as they welcome bottom side Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Fresh from their 3-0 win against League One side Doncaster Rovers in midweek in the Carabao Cup and a comeback draw at Brighton in the league last weekend, Thomas Frank's side will be looking to continue their strong start under the new head coach with just a single defeat since the Premier League season began plus five wins and five clean sheets in all competitions since then.

Now the Lilywhites take on Wolves, who are struggling with five defeats from five in the Premier League but have always proved a problematic side for the north London outfit both at home and away over the seasons.

Description

Harry Kane has addressed speculation surrounding a potential Premier League comeback. The England skipper netted his 100th Bayern Munich goal in just his 104th outing for the German giants on Friday evening.

The 32-year-old achieved the milestone after finding the net twice in Friday's emphatic 4-0 Bundesliga triumph against Werder Bremen. Kane has become the quickest player to reach 100 goals for a club across Europe's top five divisions this century.

He eclipsed the benchmark previously held by Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo, who both required 105 matches to hit their century for Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively. There has been considerable talk that the ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker might return to English football one day.

However, Kane, who has been connected with former club Spurs alongside Manchester United, has dismissed this possibility for now in his post-match comments. "I'm really happy here at Bayern," he said.

"I have two years left on my contract. And to be honest, I'm enjoying every minute.

"I enjoy playing here in front of the fans. I enjoy the team, the coach.

"So that's not on my mind at all. I'm just looking forward to this season and hope we'll be successful."

Regarding his achievement, he told Sky Germany: "It's crazy even for me. It's an honour to reach 100 goals for this great club.

"To do it so quickly, I'm very proud of that. Hopefully I can reach another 100 as soon as possible."

Spurs manager Thomas Frank recently offered his views on a possible transfer for Kane, heaping praise on the striker's displays at both Tottenham and Bayern. "He is an unbelievable player who did fantastic for Spurs and is doing fantastic for Bayern," Frank commented.

"Top player. I think there's a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back.

"Personally, I don't think he will do it right now if I'm honest. He'll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.

"He was top scorer last year, won the championship and he's doing fantastic now."

Dominic Solanke, Kolo Muani, Yves Bissouma - Tottenham injury news before Wolves clash - Football London
Description

Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers (8pm kick-off UK time).

Spurs have enjoyed a positive start to life under Thomas Frank with Tottenham currently third in the Premier League table after five matches. The Lilywhites showed spirit last weekend after fighting back from 2-0 down to earn a point at Brighton - ensuring they have lost just once in the league all season.

Tottenham now take on a Wolves team who have endured a disastrous start to the season with five defeats from five in the league. Below is the latest on Spurs' injury situation ahead of Saturday's clash at home to Vitor Pereira's men.

Dominic Solanke

Solanke has not played for Spurs since the 2-0 win over Manchester City in late August as he continues to struggle with a lingering ankle injury. He stepped up his comeback bid out in training last week, but Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third-round clash with Doncaster came too soon for a return.

Possible return date: Unknown

What Frank has said: “It's an ankle injury that's just been a little bit tricky. Nothing big. We are relatively positive that it will be relatively quick.”

Kolo Muani

Muani has only featured once for his new club so far as a late substitute in the Champions League win over Villarreal last week. The striker was not fit to line up in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Brighton or against Doncaster due to a dead leg that has yet to heal.

Possible return date: Unknown

What Frank has said: “Dead leg is just dragging on. Little bit annoying... he will not be available."

Yves Bissouma

The midfielder is yet to play under Frank this season. He was left out of the squad that lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup for disciplinary reasons and has been missing since due to injury.

He continues to be recovering.

Possible return date: Unknown

What Frank has said: “I think, to be fair, he has just started to run outside, so he is not part of the group. That I actually don't know [when he will return]. Of course, I know [about his recovery], but [a return] is further down the line."

Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski's knee injury has been one that has forced the attacker to be out of action since the end of last season. He underwent surgery in May and has played no point in Frank's reign at the club.

Reports had suggested that he was out until 2026 but the Spurs boss has refused to put a timeframe on his return.

Possible return date: Unknown

What Frank has said: “No Kulusevski, he's out. That's a longer one, I don't want to put a timeframe on it.”

James Maddison

Maddison had looked set to play a big part under Frank this season but he ruptured his ACL in pre-season. The midfielder has since undergone surgery and is expected to be out for a long period of time.

Possible return date: Towards the end of the season

Radu Dragusin

Another ACL injury with Dragusin still out since February. There is hope that the centre-back will return to training over the break but Spurs are expected to be cautious with his return.

Possible return date: Unknown

What Frank has said: “Dragusin is on the way back and he's been running for a while,” Frank said. “I think he should join the team in a week's time, 10 days' time, I think that's the thing, so that's positive, but of course it is an ACL. I'm always a little bit more, not worried, but just aware that it takes time.

“When you've been out of football for nine months, you know, you need to get in. It's not enough to have a six-week pre-season. You need to take a little bit more time, but it's positive and some surprise and come back quicker, of course.”

Kota Takai

The summer signing picked up a plantar fascia issue during pre-season meaning he is yet to make his Spurs debut. He missed the pre-season friendlies against Reading, Wycombe and Luton.

Possible return date: Unknown

Tottenham predicted team vs Wolves - Thomas Frank makes big Xavi Simons decision - Football London
Description

Thomas Frank must pick yet another Tottenham starting XI as the matches continue to come thick and fast with Wolves the latest visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

Spurs are currently playing every three days and after returning from the international break with wins against West Ham, Villarreal and Doncaster Rovers and a comeback draw at Brighton they will go into this latest game against bottom side Wolves with an unbeaten feeling and plenty of clean sheets.

Wolves may be struggling with five defeats from five, but they have often given Spurs problems over the years, both in N17 and at Molineux, and Frank will be looking to name a fresh and balanced team to take on Vitor Pereira's side team. The Dane is still without injured strikers Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani but he does have midfielder Pape Matar Sarr back in contention after missing the midweek Carabao Cup win.

The Spurs boss made seven changes for that win against Doncaster with Cristian Romero and Mohammed Kudus getting the night off, Micky van de Ven unused on the bench and many others only playing a portion of the match.

One player who did start the game and played an hour was Xavi Simons, but the Dutchman only played the final 30 minutes at Brighton so should be fine to start again on Saturday evening. The question for Frank will be whether the 22-year-old plays in a midfield three where he can create more through the middle or whether he takes up a position on the left wing.

Another decision comes with the full-backs and whether it is the turn of Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie to play together to hand Pedro Porro a rare rest with the Champions League game at Bodo/Glimt coming on Tuesday night. The composition of the midfield will also be a factor for Frank and whether he uses both Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha again, with the Portuguese playing in central defence against Rovers.

Here's the team that we reckon Frank could select to face Wolves:

Thomas Frank makes big claim about Tottenham owners after new takeover rejection

Thomas Frank makes big claim about Tottenham owners after new takeover rejection - Football London
Description

Thomas Frank believes Tottenham's owners are "120 per cent committed" after rejecting a third takeover approach for the club in as many weeks.

The Lewis family own Spurs through the investment company ENIC and on Friday the club announced to the London Stock Exchange that they had "unequivocally rejected" an informal expression of interest in a takeover from a consortium headed up by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick.

The takeover would have reportedly involved a £3.3billion bid from a 12-strong group including NFL and NBA investors, with a further £1.2billion set aside as transfer funds for head coach Frank.

A source close to the Lewis family told football.london : "This unsolicited and unnecessary interest does nothing to change the family's resolve and commitment to do whatever it takes to drive success on the pitch. The club is not for sale."

It is the third such approach that Spurs have rejected since Daniel Levy left his role as chairman earlier this month, with an Asian consortium of investors as well as Newcastle director Amanda Staveley with PCP International Finance both turned away.

Earick's consortium now has until October 24 to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Spurs or announce that it does not intend to do so.

Siblings Vivienne and Charles Lewis have become the public face of the Spurs ownership and could be seen in the directors' box at the recent home games against Villarreal and Doncaster Rovers.

Ahead of Spurs' latest home Premier League clash against Wolves and amid the backdrop of a third rejected takeover approach, Frank said that from his conversations with the Lewis family he is certain they are in it for the long haul.

"Very, very, very invested. 120% committed to the club. They really want to achieve something special," he said. "They want to build, want to add, and I like the phrase, building layers, because you never go straight to the top. You can't jump five steps. That's impossible.

"So building layers is very important. I think that's also more organic and more sustainable over time. But they're very, very focused on what they can do to help the club."

Frank believes it is important that the Lewis family have become more visible owners since the changes at the top at Tottenham, especially following a long period where there was a disconnect between the fanbase and ENIC.

"If you're an owner or a leader, it's important to be visible so people can see you," the Tottenham head coach said. "So I think it's positive."

Spurs go into Saturday's clash with Wolves with question marks still lingering over striker Dominic Solanke's ankle. The England international has been struggling with the injury since the summer and is continuing to feel discomfort in it.

That has meant the 28-year-old started the week training with his team-mates but has had to stop due to the pain.

Frank revealed that the problem lies within the ankle but is not a ligament issue.

"I think sometimes, let's say you've got a calf sprain or hamstring or even ACL, it's very simple, very easy to deal with," he said. "Sometimes it's just a little bit more tricky. So this is a little bit more tricky without being a problem. I expect Dom back as soon as possible."

Frank and the club have been looking to improve the communication with the medical and performance departments after last season's problems which resulted in Ange Postecoglou having more than 10 players out for a number of games and some players getting reinjured immediately after returning.

"That was one of the big areas we looked into when we came in. I see it as a holistic picture," he said. "It's between the coaching, performance and medical departments. It can't be three departments not communicating with each other, it has to be three constantly communicating back and forth. It’s how we train, how well we train and how well we plan that.

"All that so far has been good. Touch wood we haven’t had any soft tissue or muscle injuries which are the big ones we’d like to avoid. We’ve had an injury to Kolo Muani which is a dead leg contact injury, then we have Dom miskicking a ball. So we have two relatively unlucky ones. So can we nail and get on top of the muscle injuries? Probably impossible to not have any of those injuries but so far so good and we're very aware of it."

He added: "I think it's about workload in training, it’s not too little, definitely enough intensity because we train and play with intensity, then I think it’s all about the planning – gym, recovery, lots of things.

"1000 per cent [it's crucial to prevent another list of injuries]. If we have plus 90 per cent availability, it’s so important."

One player who is currently fit is summer signing Xavi Simons, who has already left a good impression on the Tottenham fans. Frank has previous form with developing playmakers, particularly former Spurs star Christian Eriksen. The two Danes worked together when the midfielder was a youngster and later at Brentford.

Frank was asked what similarities he could seen between the 22-year-old Xavi and the 33-year-old former Tottenham star, who is now at Wolfsburg in Germany after a spell at Manchester United.

"He’s got a few things, I would say. I like his composure in possession. So every single time [Xavi] receives the ball, it seems like he got half a second more before he passed it or took players on," said the Tottenham head coach. "So I like that a lot. I think the way he also can see passes not many others are seeing, I think is important. And also the way he carries the ball forward, I think is a key thing.

"So those are the big things, and then of course he will arrive and score goals and all that, but I think those three things are key areas.

"I think they're a little bit different. They're both playmakers, different type of playmakers. I had Christian when he was 17 up to now, but I think he was in a way a little bit of a deeper playmaker, and I think Eriksen's longer play was exceptional.

"I think when he was here outside the box, when he found Dele Alli in the box, those crosses, I think the balls in behind, I think it was exceptional. I think his finishing outside the box was exceptional for Eriksen. But Xavi is maybe a little bit more in between the lines, more of a one-on-one player than Eriksen, but both of them very good players."

The Spurs boss believes Tottenham's new Netherlands international will adapt rapidly to the demands of the Premier League.

"I think it will be relatively quick, but it's always a little bit difficult to guess. I like what I've seen so far from him. I like the Brighton half an hour because he was arriving in some of the areas we wanted to, having two good chances. Could have set Richy up, if Lucas was not taking the pass away from him," he said.

"As I said, the West Ham game I think was promising. There were also good moments against Doncaster where he was driving the ball forward, setting up Wilson, setting up a few situations. I think more and more, you're playing with new team-mates, that relationship is important. You need to understand when he's coming, is he actually? I'm playing into feet but then he's actually going away. So that bit is important."

He added: "I think the biggest adjustment is probably the intensity in the Premier League. That's difficult to work with in training. Of course we try to train with intensity but because we play quite a few games, there's not many where we can have that. But when we can, we try to get intensity in. I think for me it's just for him to not adapt, but get used to more and more of that intensity."

word message in Tottenham takeover update

Brooklyn Earick sends cryptic six-word message in Tottenham takeover update - Football London
Description

American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick has intensified reports of a Tottenham takeover with a mysterious social media post following his consortium's £4.6billion takeover bid for the north London club.

Earick is spearheading a group that has submitted an offer to purchase the Premier League side from ENIC. The former DJ and NASA worker is attempting to persuade the Lewis family to part with Spurs after Daniel Levy's exit as chairman.

Those discussions have gathered pace since Levy's surprising departure was confirmed earlier this month. The Lewis family maintain their position remains unchanged and the club is not up for sale, reports the Mirror.

This follows their rejection of two unofficial bids for the club, which ended their lengthy trophy drought by claiming the Europa League in May.

ENIC holds 87 per cent of Spurs and maintains they will not shift their stance, yet Earick has captured the attention of Tottenham supporters by sharing what appears to be a photograph from inside the team's changing room at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At the foot of the image sits a timer labelled "COYS" displaying 27 days, 10 hours and 36 minutes.

Earlier that day, Earick shared an image of a newspaper, which covered his interest, accompanied by the caption "pretty low key morning so far".

His actions have triggered an official statement from Tottenham, who must notify the public of any takeover discussions given that 13 per cent of the club is publicly listed.

In a statement to the Stock Exchange, Spurs said: "The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports and Developments Holdings Ltd, has received, and unequivocally rejected, an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of the Club from a consortium led by Mr Brooklyn Earick.

"The Board of the Club and ENIC reconfirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking to sell its stake in the Club."

Meanwhile, a source close to the Lewis family reiterated that message by telling The Athletic: "This unsolicited and unnecessary interest does nothing to change the family's resolve and commitment to do whatever it takes to drive success on the pitch. The club is not for sale."

Earick isn't the first individual to show interest in Spurs, with an Asian consortium of investors headed by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng via Firehawk Holdings Limited attempting similar approaches last month.

They signalled an informal intention to table a bid for Spurs on the day Levy departed, only to face rejection from ENIC.

Additionally, Amanda Staveley and PCP International Finance Ltd are also understood to have demonstrated sufficient interest.

Staveley possesses prior expertise in the field, having facilitated the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund's acquisition of Newcastle.

Thomas Frank reveals which Tottenham player injured Randal Kolo Muani and has worrying Solanke news - Football London
Description

Thomas Frank gave plenty of updates at his press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of Tottenham's Premier League clash against Wolves.

Spurs are bouncing from game to game at the moment and just three days after getting past League One side Doncaster Rovers with 3-0 victory in the Carabao Cup third round, the north London side return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch as they host Wolves in Saturday's late Premier League fixture.

Frank gave fitness updates on Dominic Solanke, Pape Matar Sarr and Randal Kolo Muani and was also asked about another rejected takeover of Tottenham with ENIC and the Lewis family's insistence that the club is not for sale.

Our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold was among those putting the questions to Frank. Here's the full transcript from the press conference at Hotspur Way.

What is the latest team news?

The latest is that everyone who was available for the last Premier League game is available again. Midweek Pape was out as a precaution. He was good, he trained today and that is positive.

Kolo Muani is just a dead leg which is dragging on. It’s a little bit annoying. It will take a few more days so he will not be available. Dom is not available.

Do you have more games and press conferences than training sessions now?

Yeah you can say that. It’s definitely been that way the last four or five games but it’s fine. It is what it is. Get on with it. Prepare. Perform. Win. Prepare. Perform. Win. That’s the plan.

Joao Palhinha, signing him permanently must be an easy decision?

Very happy with Joao. He has done very well for us. Come in, helped the team, performing well, playing centre-back and still doing well. Really pleased with him.

Can we get your thoughts on the Together Against Suicide campaign? Every 90 minutes someone takes their own life.

We definitely need to help each other and look after that. That is a bad stat and there is another stat that one in four are considering suicide which is as bad so we need to help. I’m very happy this campaign is going on and I know it’s very important for Vinai, our CEO.

In general for me as well, I think suicide is the worst you can do but before that there are a lot of steps where you are maybe mentally not in a good place. We all know it is about speaking to people and if you don’t have anyone in your closest network, you reach out to the helpline or to a local community because we need to help, we need to speak and we need to speak openly about it.

How far away is Solanke?

It’s an ankle injury which has just been a little bit tricky. It’s nothing big. We are positive it will be relatively quick.

Is there a selection dilemma when Solanke returns?

Right now it is very simple and very easy. Richy is playing and doing good. As you said, scored three goals and one assist they are good numbers. Happy with Richy. He just needs to keep building and keep adding good performances. Keep arriving in the right areas in the box. So yeah, that is positive.

What is Lucas Bergvall's ceiling?

Good question! Hopefully as high as possible. My finest job together with the coaches is to maximise potential in every player, maximise potential in the team. That's my most important task. And Lucas is a fantastic prime example of that - how can we maximise his potential? Right now he is in a very good flow. Right now you can just see he's full of confidence and that's a fantastic position to be in. So pleased with him. Also I think he's adding more and more to his game, he's arriving more in the box for example, which is important.

How important is it to get a win at the start of another busy run?

Of course it would be super important. We are facing a good Wolves side. I think everyone is aware that they haven't had their best start in terms of points. When you look at their performances, they are much better. They are much tighter games. You can see the games they have lost, except the City game, is very super tight. So I expect a very difficult game. This is a team that the last five times we haven't been able to beat. So I think we are very fully aware that this is another game in the Premier League [where] you can take nothing for granted. You can't just think you can walk over any opponent. So we need to come flying out and be ready for it. We need the fans behind us. They need to back us every single second of the match. But I'm very confident, I'm positive that we'll go out and perform well tomorrow.

How easy is it to guard against the fact that your team could be overconfident against the team at the bottom and have lost every game - stats say this should be the easiest games to predict this weekend?

That's because we always look backwards. We don't look into the next game. Every game has got its own life. Every game has got its own story. You know, you've asked me these questions before in the past. I was thinking is it best to face a team that's been unbeaten in 10 games or a team that haven't won in 10 games? I don't know and I actually don't care. I just know we prepare for Wolves. We look at their strength and the areas where we think we could potentially hurt them. And then I think it's good that our players are in a good place. They are confident but also know that we need to work very hard. It's not going to be easy. And also, they know the stat as well that we haven't beaten them the last five times.

How much are you learning on the job this season with having to play a game, maybe one rest day, one preparation day and then bang, go again?

You can say learning over the time of the season because having two days between games, I've probably done 100 times in my career. Three games, the same, similar. But I haven't done it 300 times. But do you need to have 300 times? 100 is probably enough to have your routines in terms of how you prepare the team.

I think that's the most important thing. We, as a club, have a very good coaching group, very good staff where we have a clear idea and process how we want to do it, but we constantly discuss the small details. For example, we had some that played a lot of minutes Wednesday night. They are on the second day. We still want to get a little bit out of them. Also, some that didn't play, they need to get a little bit more out. So how do we get that physical load bang on? Plus, we want to get all the details in.

So that is the ongoing discussions constantly and there's no one-fit-all kind of matchday minus one. It's a constant, small little bit development. I think it's the discussions that are important. I think we have got a good framework. We want to get in and then constantly developing a bit.

The football community lost Matt Beard last weekend to suicide, I get the impression it's much better now than it was for players who aren't feeling well and need to come out and talk to managers, coaches, whoever. What about managers? Is there enough care taken for managers and do you have someone you can go and talk to?

It's a good question. I think first and foremost it's an opportunity to pay tribute to Matt Beard and his loved ones, wife, kids, family, friends and everyone who worked with him. And I think it's a very relevant question.

I think for everyone involved in the game, players of course are highly pressurised, but everyone feels the pressure in a different way. That can be a physio, that can be a performance member of staff. It can be everyone who's involved, and then coming back to that as a manager, for myself I use good friends, my wife and then others that are in the environment.

So all the head coaches because it's quite a unique job. And I also said many times before I've got a leadership mentor that I also use. So I think that to be able to speak to others is very important, and I'm very aware you never know if that pressure, how you call it, stress hits you one day. I would say I'm quite resilient to it, but you never know, you can't neglect it.

But speaking openly about it, I think it's hugely important. But also understand that this is such a big world but also a very small world. We all know each other.

It's just because there's so much publicity that makes it a little bit tricky sometimes. Because I know it's the most important thing or maybe the most important thing of not important things in life. And I think it's important to put it into perspective.

With Dom, is he still feeling any discomfort in his ankle?

It's not perfect but we are going forward in the right direction.

Spurs have rejected a third takeover approach in the last couple of weeks, is it strange to come to club in a moment of change from a club which was so stable?

Yeah, a few more questions about it! So, short answer is yes but to start with, you can say it was very stable. Daniel had been here for almost 25 years and then the change came. OK, little bit didn’t expect that but since then the new or old owners, whatever you want to call it, the Lewis family has been very transparent, very good in the way they have communicated and it’s very clear the club is not for sale. Vinai on top of everything is very clear and for me personally, I feel in a very stable environment going into work every day and also learn over a lot of years that the only thing that helps me and helps the team is I do everything I can to focus on the team and players.

How has Luca Williams-Barnett been after Wednesday, the videos seem to suggest he is still training with the first team, he must be buzzing?

Yeah, of course very happy. In so many ways I think the first step in many things is always a very important step but after that there are a lot of next steps that he needs to take, but of course it is nice to see him get his debut.

Have you had many interactions with the Lewis family yet?

Yeah, I said that one or two times before that we’ve had some interactions and definitely spoke to them. Yeah, it’s been good.

How did Kolo Muani suffer the dead leg?

In training. I think it was Pape that ran into him. I need to blame Pape, but yeah very unfortunate it’s just a contact injury. It is one of those where sometimes they can take a week or other times they can take a couple of weeks because it's started to bleed again unfortunately.

How is Radu Dragusin progressing?

He is progressing well. He has been on the grass for three weeks or something like that, so he progressing well as he should do. We all know coming back from an ACL is a longer one, so it's on track. It will be some weeks before he's involved in the squad.

Another one about the ownership. With the Lewis family, you have spoken to them but have you had a more formal meeting with them to talk about their plans or is one pencilled in for say October international break?

No, we have had more informal chats. Of course it's about football, the club and the team and all that, but the bigger plans is something we're working along with and I think it's important to get to know each other and align everything.

With Dom, he was training earlier this week, is he still training or has he suffered a setback?

No, because when you have that, when there’s a bit of pain, it’s just to see if we can get it right for right now. He wasn’t on the grass today but was on the grass earlier in the week.

With Dom and Kolo Muani, do they need to be built up when they come back after such a long time without playing or training?

Dom has been running a lot and done a lot, so he’s in a fine-ish place. Of course it will still take a few weeks to get up to a good place. And Kolo Muani has been off the grass for a couple of weeks and it will take some weeks after that.

Tottenham reject £4.5bn takeover proposal talks after consortium make move as statement released - Football London
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have "unequivocally rejected" an informal expression of interest from a consortium headed up by Brooklyn Earick looking to takeover the club in a £4.5bn deal.

football.londonreported that the Lewis family, who own Spurs through the Tavistock Group, were adamant that the club was not for sale despite the latest talk and now that has been confirmed in a statement to the London Stock Exchange. Tech entrepreneur Earick, who failed this year in a bid to acquire Formula E team Maserati, is fronting a £3.3billion takeover bid from a 12-strong group including NFL and NBA investors, with a further £1.2billion set aside as transfer funds for head coach Thomas Frank.

However, the club have now released an official statement which reads: "The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd has received, and unequivocally rejected, an informal expression of interest in relation to a proposal to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of the Club from a consortium led by Mr Brooklyn Earick.

"The board of the Club and ENIC reconfirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC is not looking to sell its stake in the club."

The rules state that the consortium is now required, by not later than 5pm on October 24, to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Spurs or announce that it does not intend to do so. That deadline can be extended with the consent of the panel on takeovers and mergers.

A source close to the Lewis family told football.london: "This unsolicited and unnecessary interest does nothing to change the family’s resolve and commitment to do whatever it takes to drive success on the pitch. The club is not for sale."

The current reports come during a period of huge change at Spurs with the Lewis family major players in it all. Executive chairman Daniel Levy left after 24 years at the helm following an internal review pushed through by the family. Siblings Vivienne and Charles Lewis have been in the directors' box for the recent home matches against Villarreal and Doncaster Rovers in the Champions League and Carabao Cup respectively. Vivienne also accompanied the club on their summer tour to Asia.

Earlier this month an Asian consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited indicated an informal intention to make an offer for Spurs on the day Levy left his role. Amanda Staveley and PCP International Finance Ltd are also believed to have shown enough interest, without making an actual indication of a forthcoming bid, all of which triggered takeover panel rules on disclosure.

PCP later made it clear that they would not be making an offer and in a statement triggered by the takeover interest, Spurs confirmed at the time that ENIC had "received and unequivocally rejected separate preliminary expressions of interest" to acquire their entire stake in the club.

Thomas Frank press conference LIVE - Tottenham boss on takeover talk, Solanke, Sarr and Kolo Muani - Football London
Description

Thomas Frank is holding his press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of Tottenham's Premier League clash against Wolves.

There is no rest for Spurs as they bounce from game to game and just three days after beating League One side Doncaster Rovers 3-0 in the Carabao Cup they are back in action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they host Wolves in Saturday's late game in the Premier League.

Frank will deliver fitness updates at his press conference on a list of Tottenham players including Dominic Solanke, Pape Matar Sarr, Randal Kolo Muani, Ben Davies and Kota Takai. The Spurs head coach at least was able to make seven changes for the cup game against Rovers giving players like Cristian Romero, Mohammed Kudus and Guglielmo Vicario a rest.

The Dane could be asked about reports of yet another consortium linked with a £4.5billion takeover of Tottenham despite ENIC and the Lewis family's insistence that the club is not for sale.

Our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting the questions to Frank. Scroll down for his latest updates from the press conference at Hotspur Way.
