Tottenham are believed to have made contact with the new representatives of West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, and many supporters will be asking if this spells the end of their interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Thomas Frank has been scouring the market for a winger, following Timo Werner's return to parent club RB Leipzig and amid the uncertainty surrounding club captain Son Heung-min.

Speaking via his YouTube channel, reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has shared an update on the club's pursuit of Eze, amid credible noise surrounding their approach for West Ham's star forward.

Gold reports that Tottenham do have an interest in Eze, but says it hasn't stretched beyond that point, with the journalist also suggesting that this could underline their intent to explore other targets.

“From what I understand, there’s nothing more than interest at this stage from Tottenham," said Gold.

"Sometimes when I get told that by various people, it’s because the club have got an inkling that they want to go elsewhere.

“It could just be the finances aren’t quite where they want them to be at this stage of the window, or it could be a variety of things – I’m not saying it’s one of those things.

“Presumably there will be more to it, and it will come out in the fullness of time, or maybe that’s just the case for now and they do kick into gear and make a move for him.”

The former QPR sensation's contract contains a £67.5 million release clause (The Guardian), while Sky Sports claim Kudus could leave for around £70 million.

There isn't a massive difference in price between the two men, but Eze enjoyed a far better 2024/2025 campaign, with 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions under Oliver Glasner, not to mention the FA Cup final-winning goal against Man City.

Taking this into account, unless Levy is convinced he could snap Kudus for much less, surely Eze should be considered the standout target?

Nevertheless, it appears a forgone conclusion that the Lilywhites will be snapping up a quality new attacker, with the only question being who.

To say Thomas Frank has a massive job on his hands at Tottenham Hotspur next season would be a massive understatement.

The former Brentford boss will have to dramatically improve the club's Premier League performances while also remaining competitive in the domestic cups and the Champions League.

The best and arguably only way Daniel Levy and Co can help him achieve this is by signing a number of genuinely top-drawer players this summer.

One such player that has been linked with the club in recent days is Mohammed Kudus, although recent reports have also touted an even better option for a move to N17.

Interestingly, Kudus has been linked with a move to Tottenham for some time now, with the first reports citing interest from the North Londoners emerging back in the summer of 2022 and then again in March 2023, only for West Ham United to swoop in and secure his services for around £38m in August.

However, even though the 24-year-old is now playing for a London rival, it appears that Spurs are still interested.

In fact, according to stories from earlier today, the Lilywhites have remained just as keen on the former Ajax gem, and with the Hammers needing to address PSR concerns, he could be available for around £60m.

However, there's another player who has been heavily linked with a move to N17 before, who could finally move this summer and might just be the better option: Eberechi Eze.

On top of scoring more goals generally, the Palace star has also shown himself capable of scoring massive goals in massive moments, like the FA Cup semi-final and final this season.

Unfortunately for the Ghanaian star, the incredibly one-sided nature of this comparison only worsens for him when we take a look under the hood at their underlying numbers.

For example, in practically every relevant metric, the England international comes out way ahead, including things like non-penalty expected goals plus assists, shot-creating actions, and key passes, suggesting that his vastly superior output is no fluke at all.

Interestingly, the Greenwhich-born star also makes more tackles and completes more ball recoveries per 90, which shows that he is more than capable of chipping in and helping with the defensive side of the game when needed.

Ultimately, while Kudus is a talented player and would be a good signing for Spurs, Eze is a brilliant player and would be a sensational addition to Frank's squad this summer.

Therefore, even if he costs more money, Levy and Co should be doing all they can to sign the Eagles star before someone beats them to him.

Tottenham Hotspur are seen as favourites to sign a marquee player this summer, giving new manager Thomas Frank a potential boost as the north Londoners seek to build upon their trophy-winning 2024/2025 campaign.

Frank has considerable shoes to fill after Ange Postecoglou ended the club's long wait for a piece of major silverware.

Spurs' historic 1-0 win against Man United in the Europa League final will live long in the memory, and while the Australian led Spurs to a torrid domestic campaign, breaking their record for most Premier League defeats in a single season (22), Postecoglou will go down in Lilywhites folklore as the manager who won their first European trophy since 1984.

Postecoglou was also a popular figure among the players, with James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Lucas Bergvall among the squad members to speak out in public defence of their former manager.

Nevertheless, with the 59-year-old now gone, and linked with a surprise MLS move to Los Angeles FC, Frank must now steady the ship and regalvanize his new squad ahead of a vital campaign where they'll be back in the Champions League.

Chairman Daniel Levy reportedly has every intention of backing his preferred candidate to replace Postecoglou, and Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is widely rumoured to be one of their top attacking targets.

The England international's 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season tell just half the story of Eze's undoubted quality. The 26-year-old was a vocal point under Oliver Glasner throughout 2024/2025, bagging the winner against Man City in their 1-0 FA Cup final win over Pep Guardiola's side - a result which ended Palace's history-long wait for a major trophy.

It is little wonder there are suggestions that Tottenham are ready to pay Eze's £68 million release clause, especially considering 2024/2025 may have been Son Heung-min's last season at Spurs, as clubs in Saudi Arabia consider poaching the club legend after 10 years in N17.

The major worry for Levy is Arsenal's concrete interest in Eze, and there is apparently every possibility that Mikel Arteta's side could hijack Spurs' pursuit of the former QPR sensation.

However, despite the stiff competition for his signature, journalist Graeme Bailey has told TBR Football that Tottenham are currently leading the race for Eze, and are the "most advanced" of every team in pursuit of the "wonderful player".

“Eberechi Eze is expecting to leave Crystal Palace this summer, that is no secret," said Bailey.

“He has a release clause and Steve Parish is open to taking installments to a certain degree but any agreement will need to be reached with Palace. Eze himself has made it clear he is open to options, and a host of Premier League clubs have made contact.

“As we have reported, the most advanced are Tottenham, and we are told the player would welcome a move.

“But Arsenal have indeed made enquiries as they see him as a potential option on their left – but same with Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Newcastle and Aston Villa – they have all made enquiries to some extent this year.”

Tottenham Hotspur could undergo a serious squad revamp ahead of Thomas Frank's first full campaign in charge of the Lilywhites, with a few intriguing names facing uncertain futures in north London.

Defender Cristian Romero, who played a key role for Spurs in their Europa League campaign, winning the tournament's Player of the Season award, is a wanted man in Madrid.

Atlético boss Diego Simeone recently confirmed his interest in signing Romero, and if the La Liga side make a significant-enough offer, Spurs may well be forced to consider it given the Argentine has just two years left on his contract.

The likes of Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil appear nailed on to leave at this point, given both men spent 2024/2025 on loan elsewhere, and the former's sale would count as pure profit in the eyes of PSR due to the fact he signed as a free agent.

Another player who joined Spurs two years ago, but hasn't quite found a route into the first-team, is 21-year-old striker Alejo Veliz.

According to South American news outlet Ole, via Sport Witness, Racing de Alma have made a bid to sign Veliz from Tottenham, reporting on Thursday night that it came in the last few hours.

Frank's side are clear; they'll only consider a permanent deal, not a loan, and Racing are attempting to oblige. They also want a significant sell-on clause inserted into the deal, with Racing currently "in full negotiations" to find an agreement, though there is no mention of whether their opening bid will be accepted.

The 51-year-old is reportedly keen to upgrade his new ranks by signing a proven wide-attacking player, especially considering Son Heung-min may have already played his last competitive game for Tottenham amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

Many high-profile Premier League names have been linked already, but chief among them is Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

The outlet states that Tottenham are ready to meet the price required to sign Eze, his £68 million release clause, and the ex-Arsenal academy man is "enthusiastic" about swapping south London for a place in Frank's side.

Frank also apparently believes that Eze would be a stellar addition for the Lilywhites, and one capable of thriving both on the wing and as a complement to James Maddison in the centre of attacking midfield.

Palace are also open to receiving Eze's final fee in installments, even if they'd want an upfront payment of £45 million, something which Tottenham are prepared to offer as well.

This could be one to watch in the coming days/weeks, as Spurs want to act "swiftly" and provide Frank with fresh additions ahead of a crucial campaign.
