Description

The Tottenham Hotspur board have decided to showcase ambition in their hunt for a new manager, with an "elite" name now on their shortlist as a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

Managers linked with Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou heads towards exit

There is a growing sense behind-the-scenes that chairman Daniel Levy will part company with Postecoglou, regardless of whether Spurs end up winning this year's Europa League (Matt Law).

This follows a seriously lacklustre 2024/2025, where Postecoglou hasn't been dealt the easiest hand, thanks largely to injury issues which have swept through the squad on a consistent basis all season long.

However, 16th in the Premier League after 18 top flight defeats is closer to relegation form than that of a 'big six' side, and critics have been arguing that Spurs should be doing far better - regardless of their luck with player availability this term.

With Postecoglou now heading towards the exit door, which is more likely than not as things stand (The Telegraph), the Lilywhites are making contingency plans and performing due-diligence on managerial candidates to succeed the Australian.

Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth), Marco Silva (Fulham), Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace), Thomas Frank (Brentford) and Scott Parker (Burnley) have all been linked with the job within this past fortnight, while there is some belief that Mauricio Pochettino would be keen on a return to Tottenham after a tough start to life in charge of the USA.

Further abroad, Spurs are big fans of Simone Inzaghi and his work at Inter Milan over the last few seasons (Fabrizio Romano), but the Nerazzurri won't be keen to lose their successful tactician, who is currently attempting to guide them to a second consecutive Serie A title.

According to reports in Germany, Tottenham have also made contact with Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac, but the former Croatia captain has no interest in leaving the Bundesliga for N17 as things stand.

Tottenham now targeting Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti

Now, in a surprise update, it is believed Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is being targeted by Levy and Spurs.

The Italian is one of world football's most decorated ever managers, having won five Champions League titles across spells at the Bernabeu and AC Milan, with Ancelotti also boasting Premier League title-winning experience from his time at Chelsea.

The 65-year-old also has a Bundesliga title on his CV, having managed Bayern Munich as well, so there is no question Ancelotti brings success wherever he goes. His £8.3 million-per-year contract expires in 2026, and amid Real's links to Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, he faces an uncertain future.

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham's board have internally discussed moving for Ancelotti, after "key decision-makers" at the club decided to be "bold" and mean business in their pursuit of Postecoglou's potential replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur are in contact with a former Bayern Munich boss to potentially replace under-pressure head coach Ange Postecoglou, according to reports, with the clock seemingly ticking on his stay in N17.

Tottenham likely to part ways with Ange Postecoglou

The prospect of Postecoglou's departure from north London is gaining more and more traction.

This week, The Telegraph reported that Tottenham could relieve Postecoglou of his duties, regardless of whether the Lilywhites end their 17-year wait for a major trophy by winning the Europa League.

Even an historic night in Bilbao may not be enough to save the Australian, with Spurs on course for their worst ever Premier League season to date. They're just one loss away from equalling their record for most defeats in a single domestic season, and it is highly likely Postecoglou is bestowed with that dismal record as champions elect, Liverpool, await them next at Anfield.

The 59-year-old has faced an uphill battle all season long, having lost a plethora of key players to injury for extended periods on a consistent basis, but 16th in the table is arguably still nowhere near good enough - even when factoring in their serious bad luck.

Attention is already turning to who could succeed Postecoglou, and there is no shortage of candidates linked to the potentially vacant role.

Mauricio Pochettino would privately love a return to Tottenham, according to reports, while the likes of Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth), Marco Silva (Fulham), Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace), Thomas Frank (Brentford) and Scott Parker (Burnley) have all been linked recently.

Now, a new name in the form of ex-Croatia captain and former Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovač has emerged as a managerial target.

The 53-year-old was appointed by Borussia Dortmund on an 18-month deal to replace the sacked Nuri Şahin, and he's since done a solid job, as Kovac attempts to spearhead European qualification after a previously disappointing campaign for the Bundesliga heavyweights.

The tactician, who's previously won a German title with Bayern and two German cups - one with the Bavarians and one at Eintracht Frankfurt - has now turned heads at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

According to newspaper Bild, via Sport Witness, Tottenham have made contact with Kovac, via an intermediary but not directly with the club, as chairman Daniel Levy casts his net to Europe in search of a new head coach.

Spurs are said to view him as a good fit due to his intense and aggressive style of play, but as things stand, he doesn't have an interest in leaving Dortmund. If this stance changes, Kovac's reputation as a true leader appears to be exactly what Tottenham are crying out for.

"He [Kovac] has experience, he was a very good player and was the captain of the Croatia national team," said Bayern legend Lothar Matthäus.

"He has charisma, he has passion, he knows about football. He was a leader as a player and is showing this as a coach too."

Title-winning manager would love to join Tottenham with Daniel Levy "aware"

Description

One title-winning manager is reportedly in love with the prospect of a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur, something which chairman Daniel Levy realises, as the under-pressure Ange Postecoglou faces a very uncertain future at the club.

Managers linked with potential vacant Tottenham job

Regardless of Spurs' campaign in the Europa League, it is reliably believed that Levy could still part company with Postecoglou at the end of the season (Matt Law).

Tottenham are just one game away from equalling their highest number of defeats in a single Premier League season, and with a tough trip to Anfield on the horizon, Postecoglou is staring down the barrel of that unwanted record on his resume.

Liverpool could finally be crowned champions by defeating Spurs on Merseyside this weekend, so odds are that Arne Slot's men will throw the kitchen sink at a vulnerable Lilywhites side who've also lost four out of their last five top flight matches.

Postecoglou's saving grace after a dismal domestic campaign lies in Europe, where the Australian has a chance to make history by guiding Spurs to their first piece of major silverware since their League Cup triumph in 2008, under Juande Ramos.

However, with victory in the competition not even a guarantee that Postecoglou keeps his job for next season, attention is beginning to turn to who could replace the former Celtic boss in N17.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Fulham's Marco Silva, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner and Brentford's Thomas Frank have all been linked in the last few weeks, while Fabrizio Romano has reported Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi is liked by Tottenham.

The Mail also claimed earlier this week that Burnley boss Scott Parker has some fans inside Spurs as well, but perhaps the most exciting appointment would be a return for ex-fan favourite Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine enjoyed a successful spell at the Tottenham helm from 2014-2019, which included an unprecedented run to the Champions League final in 2019, and you can argue the north Londoners haven't enjoyed consistency akin to Pochettino's tenure since he departed.

Mauricio Pochettino would "love" to return to Tottenham

Now manager of the USA national team, as they prepare to co-host the 2026 World Cup, journalist Graeme Bailey has reported for The Boot Room that Pochettino hasn't quite settled into his first international role.

Alternatively, if he were to leave the States, Pochettino would "love" to re-join Tottenham, and Levy is said to be "aware" of this. The 53-year-old would also be Levy's first choice to replace Postecoglou, given their already-close relationship and communication.

After a string of lacklustre results with the USA, Pochettino is also said to be under pressure, and he is very much in Levy's thought process as a potential replacement for Postecoglou.

The former Southampton, Chelsea and PSG boss won a Ligue 1 title with the latter, and he appears to currently be one of three trophy-winning managers under consideration by Spurs - the other two being Glasner and Inzaghi.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is in the market for a potential new manager this summer, with Ange Postecoglou likely to leave after a disappointing season.

Ange Postecoglou facing Spurs exit regardless of Europa League

News sources across the British media, including Mirror journalist John Cross and The Telegraph's Matt Law, have heard from their sources that Spurs could part company with Postecoglou, even if they win the Europa League.

It would be quite a feat for the Australian to clinch Tottenham's first piece of silverware in 17 years amid a campaign blighted by injuries, protests from supporters and potentially their worst ever Premier League season to date.

The Lilywhites face this year's fairy-tale overachievers Bodo/Glimt in the Europa semi-finals, a side nobody expected to get this far, and Postecoglou's men are the overwhelming favourites to reach this year's final in Bilbao.

However, even in the event that Postecoglou keeps good on his promise by winning a major trophy during his second season in charge, something he confidently predicted right at the start of 2024/2025, Spurs' torrid domestic form and lack of backing from fans could mean he still parts company.

Levy has the likes of Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Fulham's Marco Silva, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Brentford's Thomas Frank on Spurs' managerial shortlist to replace Postecoglou, according to reports,

Further abroad, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has previously shared news of Inter Milan's Simone Inzaghi attracting admirers from within Spurs, but it will be very hard for Levy to prise the Nerazzurri boss away from Italy.

The dissatisfaction around N17 right now after this tepid campaign has caused tensions in the stands to reach boiling point, so Levy and ENIC are under real pressure to get this next appointment right, make smart investments into the squad and turn Tottenham's fortunes around.

Tottenham now eyeing Burnley manager Scott Parker

As per The Mail and journalist Mike Keegan, a new name is now on Tottenham's growing list of linked head coaches - Burnley boss Scott Parker.

The former Lilywhites and England midfielder amassed 63 appearances for Spurs during his playing days, and has since gone on to enjoy some successful stints during his managerial career - guiding both Fulham and Burnley to Premier League promotion.

Bar a failed stint at Jupiler Pro League side Club Brugge, the 44-year-old has showcased some promise in his early career as a tactician, and it is believed Tottenham are fans of Parker as a manager.

He's also attracted praise from his peers, with Man City boss Pep Guardiola branding him one of English football's new "innovative" coaches back in 2021, while former Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon called Parker a "top coach" when he was linked with the hot seat four years ago.

"He’s a top guy, top man and a top coach. He’s just an all-round great guy," explained Sessegnon.

"He obviously has a philosophy of play and sticks to it and all the players are buying into that. Recently, it hasn’t been so good for them in terms of results, but I think the performances and effort is still there."

It's been challenging to find the positives for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Across all competitions, the North Londoners have lost 22 games, only one fewer than they've won, and if they don't get to the Europa League final next month, it could go down as their worst campaign in a generation - or two.

However, there are, in fact, reasons to be optimistic for the Lilywhites faithful, as they have a collection of seriously exciting youngsters already in the senior side and the academy.

In fact, one youngster in particular looks like he could be a real world-beater, even in Tottenham's answer to Lamine Yamal, if you will.

Spurs' most exciting youngsters

Before we get to the prospect in question, let's take a look at some of the other sensational talents Spurs have on the books, including one teenager who is already playing senior football, just not in England: Luka Vušković.

The Croatian wonderkid is one of the most exciting centre-backs around at the moment, as, on top of being labelled a "monster" for his defensive efforts by respected analyst Ben Mattinson, he's also a serious goal threat.

For example, in just 32 appearances, he has already scored seven goals and provided two assists, which comes out to a frankly staggering average - for a centre-back - of a goal involvement every 3.55 games.

A talent far closer to home but no less exciting is Tyrese Hall.

The 19-year-old prospect is enjoying a stellar season in the academy this year and has amassed a tally of six goals and five assists in only 28 appearances.

That means the teenage phenomenon, who Jermain Defoe claims has a "Luka Modric vibe" is currently averaging a goal involvement every 2.54 games, which is certainly encouraging.

However, there is another youngster who is even more exciting, someone who could be the club's answer to Yamal.

Spurs' answer to Yamal

So, while some of you may be thinking of the incredibly promising Mikey Moore, you'd be mistaken, as the academy gem in question is actually a year younger.

Despite being just 16 years old, Luca Williams Barnett has been causing quite a stir this season, as every week, regardless of the opposition, he seems to deliver.

For example, in just 18 appearances, totalling 1465 minutes, the Luton-born prodigy has scored a whopping 19 goals and provided nine assists.

That means he is currently maintaining an otherworldly average of 1.55 goal involvements every single game, or in other words, he produces one every 52.32 minutes.

It is this simply sensational rate of return, combined with the kind of hype that has seen Mattinson describe him as "one of England's best talents," that makes comparisons to Yamal seem so easy.

After all, the young Spaniard earned his first start for Barcelona when he was 16 years old, and if the Lilywhites' new superstar in the making continues to put up the numbers he is now, then we see no reason why he couldn't get his first start next season, also at just 16 years old.

Finally, on top of being a pure output machine, the teenager has also played in several positions on top of his natural attacking midfield role before, including left-midfield, left and right-wing and even up top, which lends credence to Spurs' expert John Wenham's description of him as a "cheat-code."

Ultimately, while it's still very early in his hopefully long career, Williams-Barnett looks like he has everything needed to be a genuine superstar in the future. Who knows, maybe he'll be talked about in the same way Yamal is now in a few years.

Stunning Poch repeat: Spurs want to hire "one of the best" managers around - Football FanCast
Description

It feels like the walls are starting to close in on Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Australian might be two favourable games away from a Europa League Final, but there can be no denying that domestically, at least, this season has been nothing short of a horror show.

In the Premier League, for example, his side have lost 18 games, which may have been relegation form in seasons past.

So it's not been surprising to see reports linking the club to potential replacements again in recent weeks, including one candidate who could be something of a Mauricio Pochettino repeat.

Tottenham's manager search

Before getting to the man in question, it's worth looking at some of the other names that have recently been touted for moves to N17, such as former player Scott Parker.

The former midfielder has just led Burnley to a record-breaking promotion to the Premier League, his third overall, but it would be fair to say that this feels like an appointment that would upset more fans than it would please, considering how he's got on in, the top-flight previously.

However, a name that might inspire more hope in the Lilywhites faithful is Marco Silva.

The Portuguese manager has been in the Fulham hot seat since July 2021 and, to his credit, has done a marvellous job, turning what has been a yo-yo club in the past into a comfortable mid-table side.

Yet, when it comes to managers overachieving with their club this season, it's impossible to overlook Andoni Iraola, and it seems like Spurs aren't.

According to a recent report from the Mail Online, there is a feeling at the club that Postecoglou will be axed regardless of what happens in Europe and that the Spaniard would be among the leading candidates to replace him when a decision is made.

It would be a bold, exciting, and potentially risky appointment, but the club should follow through with it, especially as it would feel similar to Pochettino's hiring.

Why Iraola could be Poch 2.0

So, while it might sound like a reach, there are some clear reasons why hiring Iraola could be something of a Pochettino repeat.

For example, like the Argentine with Southampton, he would be moving from a club he's transformed from relegation fodder into a genuine top-half contender in Bournemouth.

Moreover, unlike Parker, for example, the Spaniard, who analyst Ben Mattinson claims is "one of the best in the league," has an evident dedication to playing entertaining, exciting football - his side has scored just nine goals fewer than second-place Arsenal - like Poch, but not to the point of self-sabotage, as Postecoglou has been prone to in the past.

On top of that, he'd be coming in to help build something in North London with a squad that has some more senior stars in it but plenty of young and tremendously exciting prospects as well, like Mikey Moore, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

Last but not least, before the current USMNT boss was handed the reins in N17, he led former side Espanyol to two surprising mid-table finishes in La Liga, which saw him get the job on the south coast.

Likewise, before making his way to Dorset, the Cherries boss built quite a reputation for himself in Spain, helping guide perennial underdogs Rayo Vallecano to an unexpected promotion in 2021.

Ultimately, Iraola has the CV, the playing style and the potential to be a sensational appointment for Spurs, and the fact that his hiring could so closely mirror Pochettino's is just the icing on top.

Tottenham Hotspur are now prepared to offload a top-performing regular this summer in a bid to reshape the squad and raise funds, with his replacement already there.

Tottenham make transfer plans amid Ange Postecoglou uncertainty

Right now, it is being reported that under-fire boss Ange Postecoglou is facing the Spurs axe at the end of this Premier League campaign, which could happen regardless of whether they end up winning the Europa League.

This news comes courtesy of reliable journalist Matt Law and other credible media sources, with a parting of the ways becoming increasingly likely after Tottenham suffered their eighteenth Premier League defeat of the season against Nottingham Forest on Easter Monday.

While the Lilywhites have a major chance to clinch their first piece of silverware in 17 years, that still may not be enough to save Postecoglou after a dismal domestic season, but their problems lie beyond just the manager.

Tottenham's lack of strength in depth when compared to their elite Premier League rivals was exposed time and time again this season, thanks to the plethora of injuries to key players throughout 2024/2025, so this is an issue which needs addressing in the summer.

"[The top clubs have] been doing it many years. They know exactly what they're doing," said winger Dejan Kuluseviski, who criticised Spurs' transfer policy.

"They're bringing in a lot of players that are ready to play both competitions. And they are prepared for it.

"This year we cannot say that we're prepared for it because we had so many injuries, and we did a lot of things wrong from the beginning of the season, and we're paying for it right now."

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, in a piece for The Boot Room, Tottenham are planning to strengthen "almost all areas" of the squad in the next transfer window, but they must first raise funds.

Tottenham "ready to sell" Pedro Porro and replace him with Djed Spence

Bailey also writes that star right-back Pedro Porro could be among the players sacrificed, with the emergence of 24-year-old Djed Spence as an impressive full-back option handing Spurs a ready-made replacement for the Spaniard.

Tottenham are apparently "ready to sell" Porro and bolster their transfer kitty, but will demand north of £50 million for the ex-Man City and Sporting Lisbon defender as Levy eyes a small profit on the £40 million they paid for him.

While Porro has impressed, Spurs' need to reinforce multiple areas of the squad is taking centre stage, and Spence has showcased that he's more than capable of being entrusted with a regular starting spot on either flank.

Tottenham Hotspur now want a manager with "star status" to replace Ange Postecoglou, according to a former employee of the Premier League club.

Ange Postecoglou heading towards Spurs exit after disappointing season

According to reliable media sources, like journalist Matt Law of The Telegraph, a parting of the ways with Postecoglou is growing more and more likely - even if Spurs do end up winning the Europa League and their first piece of silverware in 17 years.

The north Londoners face off against Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals after beating Eintracht Frankfurt in the last round, and if they get past this year's fairy-tale overachievers, then Postecoglou will be just one game away from ending Tottenham's trophy drought.

It would be the perfect end to an otherwise disappointing domestic campaign, with Spurs on course for their worst ever finish in the Premier League and just one match away from equalling their record for most defeats in a single season.

Postecoglou has been dealt a plethora of injuries to key players throughout 2024/2025, which undoubtedly crippled Spurs' chances of success, but there is a serious argument that 16th in the league still simply isn't good enough.

Unrest surrounds the club right now, not just regarding Postecoglou, but also the current running of Tottenham by chairman Daniel Levy and ENIC, with disgruntled supporters protesting against their ownership on a consistent basis.

Whoever potentially succeeds Postecoglou will have a mighty job on their hands, and Levy needs to get this appointment amid mounting pressure.

Tottenham are believed to be targeting Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Fulham's Marco Silva, according to multiple reports, while the likes of Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and Brentford's Thomas Frank have also been linked.

Tottenham want "star status" manager to replace Ange Postecoglou

However, while these names have performed impressively on shoe-string budgets, the aforementioned tacticians boast just one major trophy between them.

Some critics may be underwhelmed by this, but according to former Spurs scout Mick Brown, Tottenham are looking at a "higher profile" manager with "star status" to come in and "transform" them into a winning team.

“There’s no doubt Frank has done a fantastic job at Brentford,” Brown told Football Insider, commenting on the links to the Bees boss.

“But’s a completely different job to managing Tottenham Hotspur. His job at Brentford cannot be questioned, he’s done better than many others would have, and everybody I speak to has a lot of respect and admiration for him.

“The issue is, Tottenham have had about 15 well-respected managers who have done jobs elsewhere.

“I think they’re looking at higher-profile managers to come in and transform them into a winning outfit.

“I don’t know whether Frank meets that star status they’re looking for."

Description

Despite coming off a sensational result in the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur returned to their lacklustre form at home to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.

It was their 18th defeat in the Premier League and leaves them just a point above West Ham United in 17th place, so it's not much of a surprise to see stories about Ange Postecoglou's future returning.

One of the names most heavily touted to replace him at the end of the season is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who has managed to lead the Cherries up to eighth place, partly thanks to their brilliant attack.

On top of being linked with a new manager, the North Londoners have also been linked with a plethora of exciting players, including one who'd be perfect under Iraola, were he to get the job.

Tottenham want to sign Premier League attacker

With how terribly this season has gone for Spurs, it's unsurprising that they have been linked with so many players in recent weeks, such as Matheus Cunha.

The North Londoners are reportedly willing to pay up to £75m to land the Brazilian star ahead of the other interested parties, and while that's an enormous sum of money, it might be worth it, as he's managed to amass a tally of 16 goals and four assists in 31 games this year, despite playing for a bottom half side.

A slightly cheaper target the club have supposedly been looking at has been Tyler Dibling.

The Southampton gem could be available for around £35m in the summer, and while he likely wouldn't make an instant impact on the first team, he would be yet another tremendously exciting youngster on the club's books.

However, if instant impact is what the fans are after, then the links to Marcus Rashford should excite them.

According to a recent report from Football Transfers, Spurs have now rekindled their interest in Premier League star Marcus Rashford, who has found some form of late on loan with Aston Villa.

The report claims that the 62-capped Englishman 'is expected to leave Manchester United during the upcoming summer transfer window' and that should the Villans decide against paying £40m to sign him, the North Londoners will step in.

It could be a complicated transfer to get over the line, but given his immense quality, it's worth fighting for, especially as he could be incredible under Iraola.

Why Rashford would be a great signing for Spurs

So, the first thing to say is that, regardless of who is in the hot seat next season, Rashford would be a good addition to Spurs' squad, and the last few months have shown that.

For example, since moving to Villa, the Manchester-born monster has been electric, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 appearances, totalling just 940 minutes.

That means the often "unplayable" 27-year-old, as dubbed by analyst Raj Chohan, is currently averaging a goal involvement every 1.7 games or every 94 minutes, which is the sort of output the Lilywhites could really do with.

However, there is every chance that, under Iraola, he could be even better.

Now, this is obviously all theoretical at this point, but we know from this season that, when he has a summer to prepare his players, the Spaniard can extract some seriously impressive attacking numbers out of his frontline players.

For example, Justin Kluivert has produced 21 goal involvements compared to 11 last year, Antoine Semenyo has produced 16 compared to 11 and even Dango Ouattara has managed 13 compared to just three last year.

So, if he's been able to improve those players that much within the space of just a season, imagine what he'd be able to do with a player as talented as Rashford.

Ultimately, while this might be a complicated transfer to get over the line, Spurs should do all they can to get it done, especially if they hire Iraola.

Tottenham Hotspur appear set for a crucial call following the conclusion of this regrettable campaign, namely who they'll decide on to replace under-fire boss Ange Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou likely to leave Spurs regardless of Europa League

On Tuesday, journalist Matt Law of The Telegraph reported via his sources that Postecoglou is increasingly likely to leave Spurs at the end of the season - regardless of what happens in the Europa League.

The Lilywhites have suffered 18 top flight defeats this season, and they're just one game away from equalling their record number of Premier League losses in a single season.

It's been a dismal 2024/25 on the English front, with Spurs also out of every domestic cup. Postecoglou could yet save Tottenham's season by clinching the Europa League and winning the club's first piece of major silverware since the League Cup in 2008, which would also gift the north Londoners a spot in next season's Champions League draw.

European glory still may not be enough to save Postecoglou, though, with Law claiming chairman Daniel Levy and the 59-year-old could still part ways, even if success does come in the Europa.

This follows on from a similar report courtesy of John Cross in The Mirror, so Postecoglou's potential N17 exit is gaining more traction amid rumours of Spurs eyeing the likes of Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Fulham's Marco Silva.

Both tacticians have impressed at their respective clubs this term, with Fulham and Bournemouth still outside contenders to qualify for Europe despite operating on shoe-string budgets compared to their more elite rivals.

Bournemouth are attempting to agree a new deal with Iraola, though, while Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan has admitted the club would love to keep Silva at Craven Cottage.

That being said, Iraola and Silva's contracts both contain release clauses, with the latter's coming in at around £8 million.

Previous reports have suggested that Silva has emerged as a frontrunner for the Tottenham job (talkSPORT), with Iraola more inclined to remain at Bournemouth, so the Portuguese's potential appointment could be one to watch.

Tottenham set for "big decision" with Marco Silva considered

Speaking to GiveMeSport, reliable journalist Ben Jacobs has shared his own update on Spurs' pursuit of the former Everton and Hull City boss.

He reports that Tottenham are indeed looking at hiring Silva, and Levy is set for a "big decision" over the club's next potential manager.

"Tottenham have got a big decision to make during the summer," said Jacobs.

"We know they like Andoni Iraola, but Bournemouth want to tie him down to a new deal. Marco Silva, as well, is on the radar at Spurs, but Postecoglou is just alleviating a bit of the pressure and it will be interesting now."

Silva's former striker at Hull, Evandro, recently heaped praise on the 47-year-old as a "master" tactician, with his statement making an interesting read for Spurs supporters.

"He is a master,” said the player to Premier League Brasil.

“I like to put Marco Silva on the same level as Sampaoli, because he has a management model that I also look up to. Marco Silva has an excellent way of managing the group and his greatest characteristic is being rational and not emotional.

“I believe that in this role as a coach, if you let emotions take over, things get lost easily, because in football you have to deal with fans and the press.”
