The summer is now in full swing, and World Cup fever has taken hold at 3AM Towers after England got their campaign off to a flying start with a 4-2 win over Croatia earlier in the week. The result gives Thomas Tuchel’s side an excellent chance of topping the group, but their path to glory would still be perilous, with the daunting proposition of facing Mexico in the Azteca Stadium a real possibility.

Meanwhile, the 2026/27 Premier League fixtures are out, and the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City will now be able to start plotting their way to title glory next season. They, along with the rest of the division, are also working hard to seal their key transfer targets, after the summer window opened on back on June 15th.

Today’s rumours round-up starts with a look at one of England’s goal-scorers against Croatia - Man United’s Marcus Rashford. The 28-year-old looks set to be up for grabs this summer, after Barcelona decided against signing their loan star on a permanent deal for £26m, opting instead to spend £70m on his Three Lions teammate Anthony Gordon.

It’s widely understood that Rashford has no future at Old Trafford, and that the player is still hopeful that Barcelona will change their mind and find a way to sign him. A fresh report from the Spanish press, via Sport Witness, claims that only one thing will make Rashford give up his dream: an approach from Aston Villa.

The 3AM Verdict: If the story’s claims are true, this could be a big development in the Rashford saga. It’s also suggested that United would be willing to sell to Villa, and if they can get a fee similar to the one Barcelona would have had to pay, it’s a no-brainer. If the West Midlands side can convince him to take a pay cut, they could secure one of the window’s biggest bargains.

Tottenham plot bold Wharton raid

Down to north London next, where Tottenham have flown out the blocks in the summer transfer window, bagging free agents Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi in an impressive double coup, before landing Netherlands international defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton in a £52m deal. Next up, they’re after a central midfielder, and could look to snatch one from a London rival.

According to Team Talk, Spurs have joined the race to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, after being put off by Newcastle United’s £100m valuation of Sandro Tonali. The story claims that Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi is a “huge admirer” of Wharton, amid rival interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United.

The article goes on to reference the potential big-money move of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, which is expected to be one of the biggest deals of the window. A fee of over £100m could be agreed, which is likely to inflate the values of similar players - including Wharton, with Palace determined to get a fair price for their top talent.

The 3AM Verdict: Tottenham’s transfer strategy has been flawless so far this summer, and they’ll be a significantly stronger side in 2026/27 than the one that nearly got relegated last season. Wharton would take their midfield to the next level, and we could see him going for around the £80m mark. Whether Spurs are willing to smash their transfer record to that extent remains to be seen.

Nottingham Forest get transfer boost

Over to the City Ground to round things off, where Nottingham Forest fans are just about recovering from a season that saw them sack three managers, reach a Europa League semi-final and flirt with relegation during a roller-coaster 2025/26 campaign. They spent around £200m on new signings last season, and look set to press ahead with the spending again, especially if Anderson does indeed seal his big-money exit.

The Tricky Trees have been linked with Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira over the past couple of weeks, and a fresh report from Football Insider claims they could be in luck, with the Gunners “open to offers” for the 26-year-old ace. He spent last season on loan with Bundesliga side Hamburg, and has just a year left on his deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The story goes on to suggest that Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has no plans to use the ex-Porto star next season, and that the club are looking to “cash in” while they can. Previous reports from Germany suggested that Forest have gone as far as to have made a £24m bid for the player, but there look to have been no further developments since then.

The 3AM Verdict: Vieira didn’t really get much of a chance during his first couple of seasons at Arsenal, and his revival in Germany has showcased a player with impressive technical abilities who could thrive in the Premier League - if he’s given a chance. That said, if Arsenal are after a fee in excess of £20m, it’s a lot to pay for a player who will be out of contract next summer.

We’ve well and truly got World Cup fever here at 3AM Towers, after England bulldozed their way past Croatia with a 4-2 win in the opening match of Group L. A roller-coaster encounter saw the Three Lions defence look worryingly shaky in the first half, with the two sides going into the break level at 2-2, before a potent display of attacking football saw Thomas Tuchel’s side assert their dominance and run out comfortable winners by full-time.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window is open and business is booming. Premier League are clubs looking to seal new signings and get rid of the deadwood ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The big done deals so far this month include Barcelona’s £70m swoop for Anthony Gordon, and Real Madrid’s raid for Chelsea’s left-back Marc Cucurella.

We’ll stay in the Spanish capital to kick off this rumour mill round-up, as Los Blancos are looking to push ahead with another blockbuster transfer deal. They’ve already signed Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva alongside Cucurella, and Team Talk claim the club are now ready to spend over £100m to sign Enzo Fernandez from the Blues.

Jose Mourinho’s side have been heavily linked with the Argentina international since the spring, when Fernandez received a two-match ban from his own club after making comments in an interview that many perceived to suggest he was angling for a move to the Spanish capital. The Blues’ high asking price was initially thought to be an obstacle, but now it appears that Real Madrid are ready to pay up.

The report suggests that they have an “agreement in principle” with Fernandez over personal terms, and will now look to tempt Chelsea with a financial package lucrative enough for them to consider a sale. The Blues look set to sell at least one more key player this summer, after failing to qualify for Europe following a poor 2025/26 league campaign.

The 3AM Verdict: Real Madrid flicked a switch and got the Cucurella deal done out of nowhere in just a couple of days - we wouldn’t be surprised to see the same thing happen with Fernandez. He’ll leave a gaping hole in Chelsea’s midfield, but with the money accrued from his sale, they could get a top class replacement - Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, perhaps.

Tottenham ‘in contact’ with West Ham to sign star man

Over to east London for our next story, where West Ham are bracing themselves ahead of a transfer window likely to see them lose a host of their most important players. Tottenham just got the better of their London rivals in the Premier League relegation battle, with the Hammers going down on the final day of last season, and now Spurs could be set to rub salt in the wound.

According to Team Talk, Tottenham, along with Man United, have made contact with the Hammers with an eye to signing their star winger Crysencio Summerville. West Ham are said to be holding out for a £50m fee to agree a deal, as they look to deal with the financial difficulties caused by dropping down to the Championship.

The report notes Spurs’ need to strengthen in wide areas, and describes their interest as “strong”. However, it’s also claimed that they view Summerville as more of a cover option, who could be picked up if they fail to make progress with their other targets. Man United, meanwhile, look to be on the hunt for a Marcus Rashford replacement should he leave this summer.

The 3AM Verdict: There’s no chance West Ham are holding onto Summerville. Along with his teammate Mateus Fernandes, he’s far too good to be playing Championship football next season. Spurs are so short in quality in wide areas, so it’s odd that it appears he’s not a first-choice option for them - he could improve their attacking threat considerably.

Crystal Palace and Fulham eye bargain signing

We’ll round things off at Selhurst Park, where Crystal Palace are gearing up for Europa League football next season after winning the Conference League last month. They’re set to make some signings with new manager Pierre Sage at the wheel, and according to Italian outlet AS Roma Live, they’re looking at Girona full-back Arnau Martinez.

The story says that the Eagles, along with a host of others including Fulham, Roma and Real Betis, are ready to meet the 23-year-old’s release clause, which is thought to sit at around the £7m mark. He’s a highly versatile footballer, also capable of putting in a shift at centre-back, or playing further up the field in wide areas.

The 3AM Verdict: Bargains are hard to come by these days, and a £7m release clause for a relatively young defender with four seasons of La Liga experience to his name seems like a very fair deal. Palace could do with some more cover a right-back, so a move for Martinez makes sense. With so much interest, however, getting a deal done won’t be straightforward.

Every morning, 3 Added Minutes combs through the gossip columns to bring you a round-up of some of the biggest (and strangest) Premier League transfer rumours which you might have missed over the past 24 hours – and today, we start off with a story involving Tottenham Hotspur.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs “have opened talks” with Köln over a deal for impressive young winger Said El Mala, and “hope to beat” both Newcastle and Nottingham Forest to his signature.

All three sides have apparently been involved in “active dialogue” with the 19-year-old’s representatives in recent days after a proposed move to Brentford fell through – reportedly because his parents (who act as his agents) demanded that they also sign his elder brother Malik too.

That put Brentford off, but Spurs are “prepared to compromise” as they seek to do a deal with a player who is said to be “keen” to move to the Premier League. A deal is likely to cost around €40m (£35m), and Spurs are showing “optimism” that they can be the team to win the race.

The 3AM Verdict: The potential requirement to sign Said’s frankly less talented brother is a sticking point, but a number of sides are still monitoring El Mala, who was unfortunate to miss out on a place in Germany’s World Cup squad. Whether Spurs are likely to win the race or not simply isn’t clear yet, and this promises to be among the more protracted transfer sagas of the summer.

Chelsea make contact over £43m Atalanta star

Over to a story from Italy now, which comes courtesy of Corriere dello Sport – they reckon that Chelsea have made contact with the representatives of Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra to “request information” about his future plans.

Atalanta are apparently “ready to sell” the 21-year-old defender, who already has two caps for Italy, and are expected to demand a transfer fee in the region of €50m (£43m). Chelsea, for their part, are interested because they’re concerned that incoming Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca will attempt to sign Malo Gusto from them.

Whether that’s the case or not, Palestra’s response to their enquiries wasn’t promising – the young right-back “wants to go to Inter” and is rebuffing interest from other sides. He spent time with Inter’s academy before moving to Atalanta, and is clearly keen to return. He’s only likely to move elsewhere if Inter Milan can’t get a deal over the line.

The 3AM Verdict: Chelsea don’t appear to have Palestra down as a priority, simply because right-back is a position they have two strong options for, so this is just a case of a club doing their due diligence in case Gusto leaves – so they probably won’t be too concerned by his response. A move to the San Siro does look quite likely as it stands, although Atalanta do often play hardball with their negotiations.

Nottingham Forest deal getting complex as a second player enters the equation

Over to Sport Witness for our final story of the morning – according to them, it’s still “very possible” for Nottingham Forest to complete a deal for AS Roma centre-back Jan Ziółkowski but negotiations have become more complicated after the Serie A side started showing interest in Forest full-back Nicolò Savona.

Forest are “crazy” about the 21-year-old Ziółkowski, whose valuation is expected to end up at around the €20m (£17m) mark, but their deal was getting “held up” – and could slow down even further if Roma want to simultaneously negotiate a deal of their own for Savona, who signed from Juventus last August.

It’s not clear whether Forest want to sell Savona, either as part of a swap deal or quite separately, but Roma are said to be “confident” that they can do a deal for around €17m (£15m).

The 3AM Verdict: Forest have been keen on Ziółkowski for a while, and we suspect that they’ll get that deal over the line even if progress has been slower than hoped. If Roma do make a move for Savona, then we doubt it would be a swap due to the financial implications – more likely it would be the case that the two deals were negotiated separately. It’s not clear just how likely it is that Forest are willing to sell Savona as it stands.

We’ve got FIFA World Cup fever at 3AM Towers, with the international football tournament already providing some classic moments. Mexico victory over South Africa entertained with goals and red cards aplenty, Canada sealed a late comeback to draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the USA came flying out of the blocks, dismantling Paraguay in a 4-1 win.

It’s an agonising wait until Wednesday for England’s first match of the tournament, but spirits are high in the Three Lions camp after they cruised past Costa Rica in their final friendly before their opener against Croatia. Thomas Tuchel’s side will be confident of getting off to a winning start, as they chase their first major tournament win in sixty years.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window opens tomorrow, and we’re expecting a flurry of deals to go through as Premier League sides look to strengthen their squads. Today’s round-up begins at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City have a goalkeeping situation to sort out. James Trafford looks set to leave this summer, and they could be set to replace him with a League One stopper.

According to Team Talk, the Citizens have accepted that Trafford will move on, after being brought in as the club’s new number one last summer only to be replaced by Gianluigi Donnarumma in the same transfer window. Sheffield Wednesday’s Pierce Charles is said to be their desired replacement, with City’s interest “advancing” towards an offer being made.

The story notes that Newcastle United are ready to push ahead and sign Trafford, after missing out on him last summer. Charles, a Manchester-born Northern Ireland international, came through City’s academy and it’s said that the club view him as a potential future number one who would serve as Donnarumma’s understudy for the time being.

The 3AM Verdict: City love a homegrown backup goalkeeper - it’s how they manage to fulfil the quota demanded by the Premier League. While it may be a good deal for City, a promising talent such as 20-year-old Charles should be playing football every week, like Trafford should too. Charles is too good to play in League One, but he’d do better finding a club where he can be the number one straight away. City will always be there.

Nottingham Forest ‘submit offer’ for forgotten Arsenal man

Over to the City Ground, where the Tricky Trees are likely to keep us on our toes again this summer, after blowing around £200m on new signings this time last year. According to German outlet Fussball Transfers, Forest are looking to sign Arsenal midfield Fabio Vieira, who spent last season out on loan with Bundesliga side Hamburg.

The story suggests Forest have gone as far as to have “submitted an offer”, believed to be close to £24m. It’s said that this could see them blow the German side out the water, with their hopes of signing the Portuguese playmaker for a significantly smaller fee now in serious doubt. The 26-year-old had a fine 2025/26 campaign, scoring seven times and providing five assists.

The 3AM Verdict: Vieira never really got going in the Premier League- with the abundance of high quality options available to Arsenal, he couldn’t really get much of a look-in. He’s got his head down and put in a great shift on loan, and could be a fine acquisition for Forest as they look forward to a fifth consecutive season of top tier football.

Spurs ‘leading race’ for in-demand star

Last but not least, Tottenham are making headlines again, as the club plough on in what has been a highly productive post-season for the club so far, with free agents Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi already recruited. Caught Offside claim they’re now after another defender: Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez.

The article says that Spurs are ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the £39m-rated talent, who is part of Ecuador’s World Cup squad. It’s said that the 22-year-old is viewed as a potential alternative to Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke, as the Seagulls continue to “play hardball” over their valuation of the towering Dutchman.

The 3AM Verdict: If it’s a choice between Van Hecke and Ordonez, we’d go with Van Hecke all day long, given that he’s already proved he’s a quality operator in the Premier League. Given the disastrous season Spurs had last year, they can’t afford to be taking gambles. They should just stump up the cash and make the Micky van de Ven-Van Hecke duo happen.

The summer transfer window is just around the corner, and it’s set to be a cracker. Over £3 billion was spent in the Premier League last summer - with Liverpool contributing over £400m of that figure - and we’re expecting a similar spectacle this time around, albeit with much of the action taking place once the 2026 FIFA World Cup finishes next month.

Some clubs have done nothing since the season closed, while others have been more active. Tottenham have already signed two free agents, and Newcastle aren’t far behind them, already closing in on their second deal this month. Man United have moved to bring in midfielder Ederson, while Brentford have signed young defender Jannik Schuster. These players, of course, can’t be registered until June 15th, when the window is officially open.

Let’s get today’s round-up going at the Manchester City, where the club are preparing for a new era without charismatic manager Pep Guardiola, who left upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last season. Ex-Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is widely expected to replace him, and reports from France suggest he’s looking to recruit one of his former players.

City had been heavily linked with the Blues vice-captain Enzo Fernandez, but it now appears that they’re going all out to sign Nottingham Forest’s midfield maestro Elliot Anderson. However, according to French outlet L’Equipe, they’re now turning their attention towards another Chelsea player: right-back Malo Gusto.

The report isn’t rich in detail, but it does suggest that the Cityzens have gone as far as making an “enquiry” regarding the France international’s availability, with the club on the hunt for a new right-back as well as a central midfielder. No potential asking price in mentioned, and it isn’t clear whether Chelsea would be willing or sell or if the player would want to go.

The 3AM Verdict: Chelsea could probably do without Gusto, especially if City offer them a decent fee. He’s been handy cover for Reece James during his various injury troubles, but looked woefully inept on occasions in a shambolic back four throughout last season. With some half-decent centre-backs next to him, however, he could improve greatly at City.

Tottenham line up Gakpo bid

Over to north London, where Tottenham’s summer transfer business is moving at a serious pace. They’ve been linked with Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo on numerous occasions over the past couple of weeks, and now a new report from Caught Offside suggests they’re the front-runners to get a deal done, and are plotting to make a bid worth around £60m.

The story goes on to stress that Spurs aren’t the only club who’ve taken a shine to the 27-year-old, who is part of a strong Netherlands side hoping to challenge for the World Cup. Newcastle United and Bayern Munich are said to be “monitoring” the player, but their interest isn’t as advanced as Tottenham’s looks to be.

The 3AM Verdict: This story looks to be gathering some real momentum, although it is interesting that the article notes that the player isn’t actively pushing to leave, despite previous reports claiming he wants to go following manager Arne Slot’s exit. Liverpool could almost double their money if they sell Gakpo for the quoted fee, while Spurs would sign a top quality forward.

Liverpool and Leeds eye World Cup wonderkid

Every World Cup has its breakout stars, and FC Midtjylland’s Lee Han-beom has been tipped as one to watch at this year’s tournament. According to Team Talk, both Liverpool and Leeds United are among clubs who have “checked” on the South Korea defender, with Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle also said to be admirers of the 23-year-old.

The story notes that the player has just a year left on his current deal, meaning that his club are likely to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of next season. European heavyweights RB Leipzig, Monaco, Lyon, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be keen on the player, but there’s no mention of how much he could go for.

The 3AM Verdict: This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Premier League clubs looking to sign the former FC Seol prospect, with Everton linked back in December. Both Leeds and Liverpool could certainly do with a new centre-back, but any interest doesn’t look to be too advanced just yet. A few standout performances in North America however, and we could see a fair bit more of his name cropping up in the gossip columns.

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest targets of the summer transfer window, which officially opens for business on Monday, became clear quite quickly after the season ended: They started lodging bids for Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke, a favourite of Roberto De Zerbi’s from his time at the Amex Stadium, almost as soon as the 2025/26 campaign ended.

It seemed like only a matter of time before a deal was agreed. Offers of up to £50m were reportedly made and rejected as Brighton held out for £70m, but it was assumed that a compromise would be reached in the end – but now, Brighton have added a twist to proceedings, and made a move of their own for Spurs defender Luka Vušković. The result is that players worth at least £120m could be trading places.

The complex deal which could see Spurs & Brighton swap players this summer

The twist in the tale of the Van Hecke transfer is that the Seagulls have now made a £30m bid for the 19-year-old Vušković, who shone on loan at Hamburg after making a £12m move to Spurs in 2023.

The Evening Standard are among a number of sources supporting the claim of Brighton’s offer for the teenager, who has still never played for his parent club after leaving Hajduk Split.

Currently in North American with the Croatian World Cup squad, Vušković established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders during his year in the Bundesliga. The list of clubs alleged to be interested was lengthy, and it was thought likely that Spurs would cash in – but they were expected to ask for considerably more than Brighton seem prepared to offer.

Most reports regarding Vušković’s future so far have suggested that Spurs would demand at least £50m, making Brighton’s initial offer appear to be rather derisory – but it may well be that they see an opportunity to do a deal which also involves Van Hecke and benefits all parties.

If the two sides negotiated a deal with Spurs which saw both parties sell their defenders to each other for commensurately reduced fees, then they not only would both teams get the players they wanted at a lower up-front cost – potentially useful when toeing the line of the Premier League’s new squad cost ratio rules – but it would also mean that Brighton owed a lower sell-on fee to Van Hecke’s former side NAC Breda.

In other words, they would effectively be engineering a part-exchange deal which consisted of two separate, cut-price transfers designed to benefit both parties. But how likely is it that such a deal takes place? And who would be getting the better side of the deal?

Will Van Hecke & Vušković trades place in the transfer window?

The issue Brighton will have with their half of such a deal is that Spurs are very likely to have other offers for Vušković, and there is a chance that they could get a better price – Barcelona are among a number of sides who are believed to have been tracking the young Croatian’s progress.

Vušković may be away at the World Cup, but if Brighton are making a bid now then it indicates that they believe that a deal can be done imminently. Spurs have to decide whether the prices align, or whether it’s best to be patient. They hold more of the cards in the negotiations – there is likely to be less competition for Van Hecke than there is for Vušković.

There are plenty of Tottenham fans who would be upset to see Vušković leave before he’s ever even played for the club after a hugely impressive season in Germany. He’s a complete defender – aerially dominant, excellent in one-on-one situations and comfortable with the ball at his feet, a skillset which has already made him a nailed-on starter for his country.

Given which, Spurs might be best advised not to sell but to start him instead – but with Van Hecke, they would be getting a proven player who would not only make an immediate impact but who is intimately familiar with De Zerbi’s relatively complex system. Given the urgent need to change the tone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and to enjoy a far more successful season than the one just passed, making moves which net them known quantities makes a certain amount of sense.

In the short term, then, Spurs could end up being the winners of any financially fair deal between the two clubs – but if Vušković continues to develop at his current rate, they might end up looking very foolish indeed in the not-too-distant future were they to let Vušković leave.

The day is almost upon us: the 2026 FIFA World Cup gets underway at the Estadio Azteca tomorrow, when joint-host nation Mexico take on South Africa in a repeat of 2010 opening fixture. It’s set to be an enthralling 39 days of footballing action, as the expanded tournament sees a whopping 48 teams battle it out over a total of 104 matches to become world champions.

Argentina, France and Spain look to be the big favourites, with England aiming to go far despite fears they’ll melt in the searing heat of North America. Thomas Tuchel’s side are ranked number four in the world, but poor form heading into the tournament and a left-field squad selection has left fans feeling a touch pessimistic ahead of their opening fixture against Croatia next week.

Meanwhile, Premier League clubs are racing to get deals done ahead of the big kick-off, with many players set to fully focus on the tournament rather than look to engineer their next big move. Newcastle United have already brought in a hefty £70m for Anthony Gordon, while Spurs have signed both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi for free.

We’ll kick off today’s transfer news at Old Trafford, where the failings of Manchester United’s past recruitment strategy have been brutally exposed once again. The Red Devils have released their end-of-season retained list, which also shows the players who have been released. Included among them is Jadon Sancho, who cost United £73m back in 2021.

The former Borussia Dortmund star endured a dismal spell at the club, failing to impress at Old Trafford, becoming isolated by past manager Erik ten Hag, and leaving the club on three separate loan spells with Aston Villa, Chelsea, and back at Dortmund. Once tipped as a generational talent, Sancho’s career is once again at a crossroads.

The 3AM Verdict: With Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia included, that’s £150m worth of investment United have seen no return on. It’s probably the best thing for Sancho, however, who at 26-years-old still has time to turn his career around. Where he goes next is anyone’s guess, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in Dortmund’s vibrant yellow shirt again, or indeed at Villa.

Newcastle United lead race for Serie A gem

Over to St. James’ Park next, where Newcastle’s recruitment will also be under serious scrutiny this summer. While they’ve not let a load of big-money signings leave on free transfers, they have struggled to find the right signings in recent window, with Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade among their recent big-money flops.

According to Italian outlet Messaggero Veneto, the Magpies are in “pole position” to sign Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta, who is said to be valued at around £35m by his club. The report suggests that Turkish giants Galatasaray are also in the mix, but Newcastle are keen to push through a move for Atta who could be an ideal replacement for Sandro Tonali.

It’s worth noting that the report mentions a strong pre-existing relationship between Galatasaray and Udinese, with the former soon to sell the latter ex-Aston Villa loanee Nicolo Zaniolo. It could well come down to where the player himself wishes to go, should both Newcastle and Galatasaray meeting the Serie A side’s asking price.

The 3AM Verdict: We get the feeling that Newcastle are ready to spend big this summer, having already taken strides towards signing a 20-year-old Ligue 2 goalkeeper for close to £20m. If Tonali does go, the Magpies will get a sizeable fee for him, and Atta looks like a good candidate to reinvest the funds in. He’s got the physicality necessary to thrive in the Premier League, and would slot into Eddie Howe’s all-action midfield with ease.

Tottenham enter race for Trafford

We’ll round things off in north London, where Tottenham are looking to put a bruising 2025/26 campaign behind them and brush that final day relegation escape firmly under the carpet. New manager Roberto De Zerbi is on a mission to get his strengthen his squad significantly, and a new goalkeeper looks set to be among his desired additions.

Team Talk report that Spurs are “primed” to make a move for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, who is said to be disillusioned at the Etihad Stadium after being replaced by Gianluigi Donnarumma as number one little over a month after making his £27m move from Burnley. The news comes amid claims Tottenham stopper Guglielmo Vicario is keen to leave the club and return to Italy.

The report notes that Aston Villa are likely to pose serious competition for Trafford, while the likes of Newcastle United and Leeds also hold serious interest in the England stopper, who is part of the Three Lions’ three-man goalkeeper contingent in North America for the World Cup, alongside starer Jordan Pickford and fellow backup option Dean Henderson.

The 3AM Verdict: This feels like a deal Spurs need to get done quickly. Tuchel has already said he’s open his players doing medicals while on World Cup duty, so it would be possible to get the deal done over the next few weeks. Trafford is a top class goalkeeper, and far too good to sit on the bench for another season. With Villa still unsure over Emi Martinez’s future, Spurs should make their move while they can.

Tottenham Hotspur’s brand new third kit for the forthcoming 2026/27 Premier League season appears to have been leaked online ahead of its official release later this summer – but the club’s fans don’t seem to be too impressed by Nike’s new design.

Details of the new shirt have been published by Footy Headlines, who also claim to have sourced an image of the jersey. 3 Added Minutes has not yet been able to independently verify the alleged leak, although previous stories from the same sources have often proven to be accurate – and this leak follows similar stories concerning the home and away shirts.

What Tottenham Hotspur’s new third kit for the 2026/27 season looks like - according to leaks

The social media post above purports to show Nike’s new design for the Spurs third kit for the coming season – a distinctive lilac number with darker purple pinstripes, collar and trim down the flanks.

The club crest, manufacturer’s logo and sponsors are set to be picked out in plain white, with a flash of white also appearing on the edges of the vintage-style collar.

This is the first time that the club will have worn purple on a change kit since the much-derided away shirt from the 2022/23 season, although it has been a fairly common look for Spurs since their first purple and blue shirt back in 1993/94.

A ‘lifestyle’ edition of the kit is also allegedly set to be released, which features broader stripes and with the lilac and dark purple reversed. That kit also has a more typical v-neck collar, but won’t be worn during matches.

The leak of the third kit follows similar stories regarding the designs of the home jersey – which is set to be a rather plain all-white affair – and the away kit, which is expected to feature an especially bold pink, orange and dark blue abstract design. None of the three kits to be worn next season have been officially unveiled at the time of writing.

Fans react to ‘awful’ new Spurs third kit

The reaction to the leak from Spurs supporters on social media has been less than positive, with plenty of fans taking to platforms such as X to voice their displeasure about the new look.

Comments responding to the leaked images describe the new kit as “awful,” “unbelievably bad” and even beg that it “please be a joke,” with the rather idiosyncratic collar coming in for special criticism from many supporters.

The reaction follows negative responses to both the somewhat bland home shirt and the lurid away jersey, which seems to have drawn an especially impressive amount of ire after leaked images appeared in recent weeks.

Footy Headlines claim that the third kit is set to be officially unveiled in August, after the World Cup, likely after the home and away shirts and released for sale, but no official date has been set as of yet.

As the transfer window nears its grand opening, we’re stepping up our regular round-ups of the biggest (and juiciest) new Premier League transfer rumours – and our latest digest kicks things off this morning with a story involving Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are “monitoring” promising young Spurs centre-back Luka Vušković as they plan a defensive rebuild in the wake of Ibrahima Konaté’s decision to leave on a free transfer.

It’s said that “no official move has been made” as yet, but the Reds appear keen on the Croatian after a hugely impressive season on loan at Hamburg. There’s no word on how much Spurs might charge for him, but it will be an awful lot more than the £12m they spent to sign him from Hajduk Split in the first place.

Vušković isn’t the only name on Liverpool’s radar, apparently – Sporting’s Gonçalo Inácio is linked, as while it’s also said that they’re paying “growing attention” to Nottingham Forest standout Murillo. It sounds like no bids have been lodged as yet, and we’re in the process of due diligence following the appointment of Andoni Iraola.

The 3AM Verdict: None of the links in the article are necessarily unrealistic – there’s a very good chance that Spurs take the easy money on Vušković this summer even if that means selling to a Premier League rival – but this is also a very speculative account of Liverpool’s plans, with very little solid evidence to back any of its assertions up. We’re taking it all with a pinch of salt for now.

Everton face £22m hijack threat from Newcastle

Let’s take in a story from TEAMtalk now – they allege that Newcastle might well “complicate” Everton’s negotiations over Chelsea winger Tyrique George after identifying the 20-year-old as a potential target following the sale of Anthony Gordon.

Everton apparently have a £22m purchase clause in the loan deal he signed in January but are attempting to negotiate that figure downwards if they can – but Newcastle’s “rival interest” may either hurry them up or just give them a headache. There’s no suggestion that the Magpies have made an offer yet, but apparently George is firmly on their radar as they begin the process of replacing Gordon.

Everton’s talks with Chelsea are “ongoing,” and the player himself shouldn’t present a problem as he is said to be “open” to leaving Stamford Bridge in order to get some first-team football under his belt.

The 3AM Verdict: We haven’t seen enough evidence for the idea of Newcastle being interested in George to believe this story just yet, but we’d imagine a bigger barrier to getting a deal done would be the fact that Everton didn’t give George as many starts as he might have liked on loan – if another side comes in, they may well be able to make a stronger case for a deal. George started just one league game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Napoli star ‘attracting attention’ from Spurs

We’ll wrap this morning’s digest up with a story from Sport Witness, who reckon that Napoli midfielder Antonio Vergara is “attracting attention” from Spurs once more after they supposedly made an effort to sign the 23-year-old in January.

While Napoli allegedly see Vergara as “sellable” this summer, they’ll demand more money than they did over the winter, with the academy product now valued at around €30m (£26m) – a price that is only likely to be further inflated by rival interest from Como, who are also said to be “stepping up their interest” in Vergara as they look for a replacement for Nico Paz.

Apparently neither Spurs nor Como have opened up any negotiations as yet, but there appears to be an expectation that the bidding will begin at some stage after the midfielder enjoyed an impressive campaign in Campania.

The 3AM Verdict: Plausible enough, although at this point Spurs have been linked with so many players that some of the stories simply have to be wide of the mark. We doubt that Vergara would be a priority signing, but the suggestion that they made enquiries in January does make it sounds quite likely that they’ll have another go in the coming weeks.

We’re just a week away from the opening of the 2026 summer transfer window and the rumour mill is starting to speed up as a result – so we’ve scoured the gossip columns to pull together our latest round-up of some of the biggest (and wildest) new Premier League transfer rumours currently doing the rounds, starting with a story involving Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo is starting to become “unhappy” about his role at the club and is worried about being stuck behind emerging youngster Rio Ngumoha – raising the possibility that the Dutchman could leave Anfield, three-and-a-half years since he joined for a fee which could have risen to as much as £45m.

The report claims that Aston Villa and Spurs are both keeping “informed of developments” ahead of potential bids, while AC Milan and Atlético Madrid are among the overseas sides showing interest. While Liverpool are “not actively looking to sell” Gakpo, there is enough uncertainty to make a move a possibility – and Football365 separately reported over the weekend that Spurs could bid up to £73.5m for him.

Apparently TEAMtalk’s sources have also told them that Gakpo could end up being used as a makeweight in a deal to sign RB Leipzig wonderkid Yan Diomande this summer, with the Reds “determined” to land the young Ivorian by any means necessary. There’s no word on how Liverpool value Gakpo if he does leave.

The 3AM Verdict: A very speculative article and we’d be very surprised if Gakpo ended up being used in a part-exchange deal for Diomande – Leipzig would most likely rather have the cash. We wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the Dutchman leaving, however, even if it’s too early to have a clear picture of where he might go and who might be in the bidding. We imagine the fee would be a lot less than £73.5m, however, and we’re dismissing the Football365 report as fantasy, or at least exaggeration.

Serie A star ‘attracting attention’ from Spurs and Nottingham Forest

Spurs are involved in our next story, too, which comes from Sport Witness – who cite sources in the Italian media in claiming that Atalanta right-back Raoul Bellanova has “attracted attention” from the Premier League, with Spurs and Nottingham Forest both “in the picture.”

While the 26-year-old has fallen out of favour somewhat in Bergamo, his athleticism and attacking style of play apparently makes him a potential target for both sides, with Fulham and AC Milan also getting a passing mention as possible suitors down the line.

Atalanta, for their part, are “open” to a sale and a transfer fee of around €20m (£17.3m) “should be enough” to persuade them to part with Bellanova. Apparently Atalanta would prefer to sell him to an English side, giving Spurs and Forest (and Fulham – it’s not clear why they’re only a footnote compared to the others) a possible edge.

The 3AM Verdict: Bellanova has some of the traits required to be a useful squad player for the sides mentioned, but we’re not sure we can envisage him ousting Pedro Porro, for example. It may be that a few teams have him on their radar should the price be good enough to make him a sound investment, but we doubt he’s a key priority for sides like Spurs and Forest, but we’ll see.

Coventry make club record bid as Sky Blues eye Southampton man

We’ll wrap up with a double whammy transfer rumour involving newly-promoted Coventry City, starting with the news that the Sky Blues have reportedly made a club-record £20m bid for Callum Rushworth, the Brighton goalkeeper who starred on loan with Frank Lampard’s side last season.

The Coventry Telegraph are among the outlets reporting the story, which seems to stem from transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, but Rushworth isn’t the only player Coventry are making overtures towards – according to TalkSport in their reporting of the Rushworth bid, they are also “weighing up” an offer for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

There’s no word on how much they might be prepared to offer for the 24-year-old, who has one England cap to his name but who missed out on a return to the Premier League with Southampton in the wake of the ‘spygate’ scandal.

The 3AM Verdict: The bid for Rushworth has been fairly widely reported in the past 24 hours and seems to be eminently plausible given how important he was to Coventry’s promotion push. Fewer sources attest to the Harwood-Bellis story as it stands and he was involved in a minor scuffle with Lampard earlier in the season – but he’s also proven to be good enough for the Premier League, so we wouldn’t be shocked if that were a hatchet Lampard was prepared to bury.
