Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window. They also have the chance to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed. The deadline is on Monday 1st September at a slightly earlier time than usual at 7pm.

Thomas Frank was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou earlier this summer. Prior to his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he caught the eye with fellow Premier League side Brentford. His new team won 3-0 at home to Burnley on the opening day to kick-start the new season with an impressive three points.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Brentford defender Nathan Collins

Spurs are interested in a move for Brentford defender Nathan Collins, according to CaughtOffside. They are being linked with a swoop for the centre-back. The report adds that the player is also on the radar of Liverpool and Manchester United as well.

Collins, 24, knows Frank well from their time at the Brentford Community Stadium together. The Republic of Ireland international, who has 30 caps under his belt, could be seen by his former head coach as someone to boost his defensive department. If he joined the Whites, he would give them more competition and depth at the back.

The Irishman signed for Brentford back in 2023 and has since become one of their most prized assets. He has made 77 appearances in all competitions and has scored four goals from the back. The Bees could now face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.

Collins moved over to England as a youngster to join Stoke City and went on to play 42 matches for the Potters. Spells in the top flight at Burnley and Wolves then followed on for him before his current club came calling. His future is now up in the air amid fresh links with Spurs and a potential reunion with Frank on the cards.

Tottenham Hotspur should offer Brentford swap deal

Brentford won’t want to lose Collins and rightly so, he is one of their main men. Therefore, Spurs need to think outside of the box as they look to snatch him away from Keith Andrews’ side. With that in mind, they should consider offering Brentford a player plus cash for his services.

Step forward Manor Solomon, who is facing an uncertain future at this moment in time. He is back following his impressive loan stint at Leeds United last term. The winger helped the Yorkshire club win the Championship title under the guidance of Daniel Farke.

He is unlikely to get into Spurs’ starting XI under Frank and an exit would suit all parties involved. He would be perfect for Brentford if they were able to get him. He would also be guaranteed regular first-team minutes there if he joined them.

The Bees have lost Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United and Yoane Wissa could also head out the exit door. That means they are crying out for some attacking reinforcements and they have room for someone like Solomon to come in and stake their claim. It would be an absolute no brainer to snap him up, especially if it meant sacrificing someone like Collins as part of the deal.

The Fantasy Premier League is only one gameweek old, but knees are already jerking around the world, with millions of transfers taking as players panic after a single poor performance – or desperately try to snap up player who impressed on the opening weekend.

One such player is Tottenham Hotspur’s Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian registered two assists in a 3-0 win over Burnley and picked up 10 points. That’s a great return for any FPL midfielder, especially one who only cost £6.5m.

As such, over a quarter of a million players have already transferred him in, and price change predictors suggest that he is likely to rise before the Gameweek 2 deadline on Friday evening. So should you get him in your team before his price starts to go up?

Will Mohammed Kudus keep producing points in the FPL?

Kudus had a solid first season in the FPL, scoring 137 points for West Ham United, but was a let down in 2024/25, registering just nine combined goals and assists for a tame return of 106 points. With mid-price midfielders, players are hoping to sign players who will pace for around 150 points or more, so historically Kudus has never been better than average.

Still, he is now in a different situation and playing for what may well prove to be a better team given Spurs’ start, and 10 points is a great start towards that 150-point mark. But will that form be sustainable?

Based on the stats behind his two seasons in the Premier League so far, he would need to improve quite considerably to get as many points as you’d want over the course of a long season. He overperformed both expected goals and assists in his first season by a long way, regressing rapidly to the mean the following year – and he hasn’t yet proven that he can produce enough xG as creator or scorer to do much better than those 137 points a couple of years ago.

Kudus is averaging 6.5 goals per season from 6.0xG, and would need to be making more chances for himself to score enough goals to really get towards the upper echelons of points scoring, albeit not by an enormous amount. He’s also only averaging 3.3 expected assists per season – he’s overperforming that by enough to be a testament to the quality of his final ball, but even at 50% above the conversion rate of the average player (his approximate mark so far), that’s not enough to really go nuclear in the FPL.

So he would have to take a big step forward in terms of his output at Spurs to be worth the extra money, especially compared to last season, and doing that would likely require not just an improvement at the age of 25 but a significant improvement from Spurs as a team to ensure he spends enough time in dangerous positions to convert opportunities into goal contributions and thus FPL points.

There is little statistical evidence to suggest that Kudus is all that likely to break through the 150-point barrier, less still by enough to merit a knee-jerk week two transfer. He could still hit veins of form which justify signing him, of course, but he isn’t likely to be a must-have player all season long. So is he likely to hit enough early form that he’s worth an immediate transfer?

Why signing Kudus as a short-term FPL solution makes little sense

Signing Kudus as a set-and-forget player can’t really be backed up by the stats, and I’d want to see more evidence of the necessary improvements in production before I snapped him up – but does he make sense as a signing who will get strong short-term results?

Riding waves of high-end form is a great way to score more FPL points, and while Kudus may not be a consistent performer he’s certainly capable of big gameweeks, as he aptly demonstrated against Burnley. One game does not necessarily equate to a strong run of games, but it’s a start.

Spurs will be facing much tougher opponents than Burnley in the coming weeks, of course, starting with a trip to the Etihad to face a Manchester City side who looked pretty scary in dismantling Wolves on Saturday. Spurs do have a surprisingly decent record against City, but that doesn’t make them favourites or their players likely to go big.

Still, things to do get rather gentler after that – a run of fixtures against Bournemouth, a worryingly poor West Ham side, then Brighton, Wolves and Leeds in a row. That’s not the easiest run of fixtures in the world, but it’s eminently targetable.

My opinion is that I’d wait one more week. If Kudus and, perhaps more importantly, Spurs as a whole look good against City, then signing the Ghanaian makes plenty of sense (while Eberechi Eze could quickly become a consideration one his transfer is confirmed as well) but the risk of a £0.1m price rise isn’t enough for me to jump on a hype train on an essentially unproven FPL asset into the teeth of a very tough fixture.

At £6.5m, he’s also at an awkward price point for a single free transfer. There just aren’t many players that you could have sensibly signed at that price or higher who were so bad in Gameweek 1 that it’s worth swapping them out. It wouldn’t trade, say, Kaoru Mitoma for Kudus just based on one week’s results, and I certainly don’t see Kudus as being worth taking a -4 hit to sign. Few transfers are worth that in the short term.

I’d seriously consider this move if I had a £6.5m-7.0m midfielder whose price was set to drop and who looked like a genuinely poor pick-up in the first place – a list of players which includes Justin Kluivert (injured) and Jacob Murphy (now a back-up) but few others. If you made a howler like that from Gameweek 1, signing Kudus is a very sensible way to correct the error. Otherwise, I’d wait another week and gamble on his price staying the same, which remains a possibility, and hope to make a more efficient two-player transfer which maximised my points in the long run.

Ultimately, Kudus will probably be no more than decent across the course of the season unless the move to Spurs really unlocks his potential – and while he could be a great pick-up in patches, that doesn’t mean that it’s worth panic-buying him right now. If in doubt, it’s all best to roll transfers over and have extra flexibility down the line, and there’s plenty of reasonable doubt right now.

Chelsea have already boosted their attacking department with the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer. They have the chance to acquire some more new faces before the end of the transfer window. The market shuts at 7pm on Monday 1st September.

Enzo Maresca was picked as their manager last year after catching the eye at Leicester City. The ex-Manchester City coach guided them to Europa Conference League glory last season. They also managed to get back into the Champions League.

Chelsea should target Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

Chelsea should try and lure Tottenham Hotspur target Eberechi Eze to Stamford Bridge over the next couple of weeks. The attacking midfielder would be ideal for the London outfit and would inject some serious quality into their starting XI. He holds the key to unlock top flight defences and should leave Crystal Palace now to test himself at a higher level.

Eze, 27, would give the Blues more competition and depth going forward. He is a proven performer for the Eagles and they face a big battle to keep hold of him amid attention from Spurs and others. His future at Selhurst Park remains up in the air at this moment in time and it remains to be seen whether Oliver Glasner’s side will be able to keep hold of him.

The England international, who has 11 caps to his name so far his career, joined Crystal Palace back in 2020 and hasn’t looked back since. He has become one of their most prized assets over the last five years and they will be desperate to retain his services. The Londoner has made 167 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored 39 goals.

Eze helped the South London club win the FA Cup earlier this year against the odds after they beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley in the final. Prior to his move to the Eagles, he caught the eye in the Championship with QPR. He fired 20 goals in 112 outings for the Hoops as a youngster, as well as having a loan spell away at Wycombe Wanderers in League One to get some experience under his belt and boost his development.

Chelsea must offer Crystal Palace swap deal proposal

In an attempt to gazump Spurs in this particular transfer chase, Chelsea should offer Crystal Palace two players plus cash for Eze. Axel Disasi is out of favour under Maresca and is likely to head out the exit door. He spent the second-half of last term on loan at Aston Villa.

His time in England hasn’t gone to plan so far and a change of scene would do him good. He wouldn’t be a bad option for the Eagles at the back if he went there. Marc Guehi is out of contract next June and they need to start thinking about possible long-term replacements with most signs pointing towards an exit for him in the near future.

Raheem Sterling is another player who could do with leaving Chelsea for the sake of his career. He was loaned to Arsenal last season but is also back with them now and in limbo. Like Disasi, Crystal Palace could be the ideal next home for him. The ex-Liverpool and Manchester City man needs to go somewhere he is guaranteed regular minutes. If Eze left, Glasner would need someone to held fill the void left by his exit. Sterling is an experienced operator and may feel he has a point to prove still in the game.

He could easily go abroad and disappear for a while. However, it would say a lot about his character if he managed to fix himself up a new home in England and show what he can do. It is yet to be known right now where he will end up next.

Tottenham Hotspur decided to turn to Thomas Frank as their manager this summer. He was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked after they finished down in a disappointing 17th place in the table last season. The London outfit managed to win the Europa League back in May under the guidance of Postecoglou though and beat Manchester United in the final in Bilbao.

Spurs have the chance to bring in some more new faces before the end of the transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed before the deadline on Monday 1st September. We have asked AI to predict who they could sign if they were given a £100 million budget boost (Daniel Levy’s got to have that down the back of the sofa, surely) over the coming weeks and here are the results:

The defender Tottenham have been tipped to sign

Spurs have been predicted by AI to snap up in-demand Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for a price of £40m, beating Liverpool and Chelsea to the deal. His contract with the Eagles expires in June next year meaning his current club probably need to sell him now or in January to avoid losing him for nothing in June 2026, assuming he doesn't pen an extension anytime soon. He has been a key player at Selhurst Park over recent years but his future is up in the air.

If Frank's side were able to snap him up, he would significantly boost their defensive department. He would tighten things up at the back which is what they need to do after the last campaign. Guehi helped Oliver Glasner's men win the FA Cup against the odds a few months ago after they beat Manchester City in the final at Wembley.

Spurs have been backed to sign PSV midfielder Joey Veerman by AI for £25m. He would give them more competition and depth in the middle of the park. The Holland international, who has 16 caps to his name, has caught the eye in the Eredivisie over the past seven years and should now test himself in a new league.

He started his career with spells at FC Volendam and SC Heerenveen before his switch to Eindhoven in January 2022. The Purmerend-born man has since made 157 appearances in all competitions and has scored 24 goals. He has won the league title two years on the spin.

The forward signings Spurs have been back to pull off

Yoane Wissa is a player who Frank knows well from their time at Brentford together. He is facing an uncertain future at the Brentford Community Stadium and it is becoming increasingly likely that he will leave for a fresh start somewhere else. With that in mind, AI has tipped Spurs to be his next destination for a fee of £35m. Clearly AI hasn’t heard about his imminent move to Newcastle United, but that’s fine - we don’t want the robots getting too smart.

He would strengthen their attacking ranks and has proved over recent times that he knows where the back of the net is at the top level. The forward has fired 49 goals in 149 outings since his move to England, a whopping 20 of which came last term. Prior to his transfer, he was a hit during his days in France at FC Lorient.

Spurs may have to think outside the box with some of their deals over the coming weeks. AI reckons they will swoop for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri on loan. That would be a shrewd bit of business and would mean that they would save money by not having to fork out a hefty fee for his signature. However, they would probably have to pay a fair bit on his wages.

The Morocco international has scored goals wherever he has been and it would be very interesting to see how he would get on in England. His long-term situation in Turkey has been uncertain recently and he has been linked with a departure. He moved to Istanbul around 12 months ago and has since found the net on 30 occasions in 52 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur have embarked on a new era under the guidance of Thomas Frank. The Dane was picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked at the end of last season. Prior to his move, he caught the eye with fellow Premier League side Brentford.

Spurs finished down in 17th place in the table last term. They need to compete higher up the league this time around with the new campaign now underway. Here is a look at their best starting XI if they can complete deals for their targets before the deadline...

Tottenham Hotspur defensive department

Guglielmo Vicario (£17.2m), Pedro Porro (£35m), Micky van de Ven (£43m), Ronald Araujo (£42.5m), Djed Spence (£20m)

Spurs’ number one Guglielmo Vicario is now his first third year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He joined back in 2023 from Empoli and has since made a positive impression. The stopper had a couple of injury niggles last season so will be hoping to stay out of the treatment room now.

Pedro Porro and Djed Spence are two players who like to get up and down the flanks of defence. Their pace and power can cause issues to opposition defenders. Frank will be hoping that the duo can both chip in with plenty of assists over the coming weeks and months.

Mickey van de Ven is still only 24-years-old and has bags of potential to improve even more down the line. He joined the London club back in 2023 and has since played 52 matches altogether, chipping in with three goals from the back. The Holland international, who has 12 caps to his name, will also be eager to stay as injury free as possible over the coming months.

Spurs are believed to be interested in Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo along with Chelsea. He would give Frank more competition and depth at the back and another option to pick from. His price tag is said to be around the £42.5million range.

Tottenham Hotspur attacking ranks

Joao Palhinha (loan), Rodrigo Bentancur (£21.5m), Savinho (£50m), Eberechi Eze (£68m), Brennan Johnson (£47.5m), Mathys Tel (£30m)

Spurs have landed former Fulham man Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich. The midfielder has been given the green light to leave the Allianz Arena on a temporary basis to get some game time. He was a hit during his days at Craven Cottage and will now be looking to recapture his form.

Rodrigo Bentancur injects more balance into the Whites’ starting XI. He is capable of creating chances for the more attacking players ahead of him on the pitch. The 28-year-old is an experienced operator who has played over 350 games in his career to date.

Spurs are interested in landing winger Savinho from Manchester City and he should get the nod ahead of Mohamed Kudus. He is reportedly valued at £50million and has only been at the Etihad Stadium since last year. However, he may find minutes hard to come by in this campaign under Pep Guardiola.

Frank’s side are after Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, who has a release clause of £68 million. He has been one of the Eagles’ most precious assets over recent times. The England international helped them win the FA Cup against the odds this year under the guidance of Oliver Glasner.

Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel then make up Spurs’ team at the top end of the pitch. The latter linked up with them back in January to strengthen their ranks. He joined on loan from Bayern Munich and went on to find the net on three occasions in 20 matches before his transfer was later made a permanent one.

We’ve only got a couple more weeks of the transfer window left to go, but the rumour mill is showing no signs of slowing down – and to help keep you all up to date, we’re back with our latest round-up of the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours, starting with a story for Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa supporters.

Villa fans may be alarmed to read a new report from The Daily Mail, which suggests that Spurs are “the latest club to be showing interest” in 23-year-old attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers, with Chelsea already known to be admirers.

Villa desperately want to keep their man, however, and are apparently “adamant” that they will keep him, and will now offer a new contract to a player that they consider to be “off limits” – with John McGinn also deemed to be unavailable amidst rumours of interest from other sides.

It isn’t clear whether Rogers will sign a new deal or agitate for a move, nor whether Spurs will launch a formal bid given that Villa’s stance has apparently been made very clear to them. The North London outfit are already in the market for both Savinho and Eberechi Eze, and signing both of those players may be enough to keep them from following their interest up.

The 3AM Verdict: There’s no asking price and Rogers is under contract until 2030, so the only way he moves this summer is if he really starts making an Alexander Isak-style fuss. We don’t see that happening, and think that both Spurs and Chelsea will leave it for next summer under the circumstances. Villa have put up some strong defences around Rogers and don’t plan to let him leave.

Spurs, Newcastle & Crystal Palace plotting £43m midfielder move

Let’s stick with Tottenham Hotspur for our next story, which comes courtesy of Spanish rumourmongers Fichajes – they allege that Spurs are one of three Premier League sides that want to sign former Chelsea man Conor Gallagher, along with Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

Atlético Madrid are apparently “willing to sell him” after he failed to convincingly nail a starting spot down during his first season under Diego Simeone, but only if a good offer comes in – with Gallagher’s three suitors supposedly willing to pay €50m (£43m) for him.

Spurs are said to have made “preliminary contacts” with Atléti ahead of launching a formal bid, but there’s no suggestion that either Newcastle or Palace have formalised their alleged interest at all. Simeone is in “no rush” to sell Gallagher, who is a popular figure at the Metropolitano, but the England midfielder’s “preference” is said to be to head back to the Premier League.

The 3AM Verdict: It’s worth noting that Fichajes don’t, in our opinion, have the best track record when it comes to accuracy, but there’s nothing all that implausible here. Spurs do need another midfielder and Gallagher could fit the bill, while Newcastle’s name has come up before. We suspect that it’s likely that Gallagher stays where he is for now, though.

Fulham lead Everton in race for £26m Serie A star

Let’s wrap up with a story which suggests that Fulham could be close to signing Juventus winger Nicolás González this summer – in spite of interest from Everton.

According to Sport Witness, who relay it via Italian media reports, both Premier League teams have made “initial contact” about the 27-year-old Argentine, with Fulham looking more likely after Everton agreed a loan deal for Jack Grealish.

It’s not clear whether the Cottagers’ own pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Kevin will stop them from making a formal bid, although they do know the price tag – Juventus want a loan arrangement with purchase option which would be worth a total of €30m (£26m). Atlético Madrid are debating a move, too, but have yet to lodge an offer.

The 3AM Verdict: González hasn’t quite made the most of his move from Fiorentina and is very much on the market, but what we’re seeing here feels a lot like agents trying to drum up interest in their client rather than stories based on anything especially tangible. Everton seem an unlikely destination with the moves they’ve made so far, and while Fulham could be a consideration, we’ve not seen any corroboration from the British media. One-sided transfer stories like that always deserve some gentle scepticism.

It’s been a summer of confusion and disappointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Spurs’ strong showing in the UEFA Super Cup hints that behind the chaos, Thomas Frank’s methods are working and they look set to finish the transfer window strongly with several high-profile targets from Premier League rivals.

While Tottenham have officially made six signings this summer, only one permanent new addition to the squad is expected to play significant gametime this summer in the form of Mohamed Kudus, while a host of young starlets from last season’s Europa League heroics including Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear have been sent out on loan.

However, they’re far from done in the transfer market so after the departure of Son Heung-min coincided with injuries to key players like James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski and the failure to sign Morgan Gibbs-White, Daniel Levy has holes to fill and money to burn.

Manchester City’s Savinho and Como star Nico Paz are among Tottenham’s targets but Eberechi Eze is the obvious number 10 to aim for and though Arsenal are also chasing the England international, Spurs have the ammunition to bring him to their north London turf, while sending Yves Bissouma the other way in a swap-plus-cash deal that could seal it.

Eze and Spurs are a star-crossed match

The stars have aligned perfectly for Tottenham to steal Eze away from their hated rivals and this is too good an opportunity to pass up. With his average of 15 goal contributions in each of the last three Premier League seasons, peaking in 2024/25, Eze would instantly upgrade Tottenham’s goal threat from the number 10 position and elevate the players around him, while his tactical versatility would be a perfect fit for the ultimate pragmatist in the dugout.

Digging into Eze’s underlying data there’s not really a single attribute that stands out, rather it’s his all-court game and ability to execute whatever plan is drawn up for him with fearsome effectiveness that has made him one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players this summer.

He’s the ultimate do-it-all threat from midfield, capable of beating a defender and opening fire boasting one of the best shot volumes in the league or cutting open the opposition with an incisive pass - and chalking up sterling defensive numbers with an average of five ball recoveries per game last year putting him amongst the best in his position in Europe’s top five leagues per FBRef.com.

Eze also showed his steel in Palace’s vintage FA Cup run, scoring in each of their final three matches including the immortal winning goal in the final, showing an ability to rise to the biggest occasions that will be invaluable in Frank’s Tottenham side.

If Eze does move to Arsenal he’ll either be shuffled out of position on the left flank, a position that he’s played for barely a quarter of his career appearances, or competing with Martin Odegaard, Ethan Nwaneri, Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi to start in the midfield three.

Even if Eze hits the ground running, he’s sure to see his game-time fall from the well over 3,000 minutes he logged last season, and in a World Cup year that could be particularly damaging.

Meanwhile Tottenham can offer a guaranteed starting spot in a Champions League team who are looking to return to their place among the best clubs in England and have the firepower to do so while Frank has built his reputation on getting the best out of players - Eze need only ask England teammates like Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Ezri Konsa.

Tottenham have what it takes to beat Arsenal to Eze

Tottenham and Crystal Palace’s valuations differ fairly significantly, but one way to get around this would be a swap-plus-cash deal and Bissouma would be an ideal makeweight after falling out of favour with Frank and facing disciplinary issues.

Bissouma would add defensive steel to the Crystal Palace midfield in place of Daichi Kamada and allow Adam Wharton a freer role to dictate play, while don’t underestimate the Malian’s technical ability and potential to contribute in later stages of attacks too.

FourFourTwo reported Tottenham were demanding €20m-€30m (£17.3m-£25.9m) for Bissouma earlier in the summer though given the 28-year-old’s tardy antics, the year remaining on his deal, and the end of the transfer window drawing near means it’s safe to assume any deal would be based on the low end of that valuation.

Crystal Palace want £68m for Eze according to TEAMtalk while Tottenham are hoping to cut a deal at £55m, meaning with Bissouma the clubs could find a price between £40m-£50m that would suit all parties, give the Eagles immediate midfield reinforcement plus funds for an Eze replacement while Spurs would fill another vital piece of their puzzle before September.

Once again, we’re back with our regular round-up and review of the juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours to help keep you in the loop during a busy summer window – and we’ll start our latest digest with a story for the Tottenham Hotspur fans among you.

According to TalkSport, Spurs are “set to make a bid” for Eberechi Eze imminently, and are “hoping to move quickly” in part to ensure that local rivals Arsenal can’t muscle in on the move themselves.

The Crystal Palace forward has a release clause worth £68m, according to the report, although some stories elsewhere have suggested that the clause expired recently. Either way, that may not be relevant if TalkSport are right that Spurs want to negotiate the price down to something “closer to the £55m they paid for Mohammed Kudus”.

Spurs are said to be “optimistic” that a deal can be struck and have supposedly been told by Eze’s camp that personal terms won’t be a problem. The question now is whether Arsenal make a move – apparently, they’re hesitating because of concern that it might restrict Ethan Nwaneri’s minutes.

The 3AM Verdict: It looks as though Spurs really do have an increasingly clear run at Eze, but they can’t wait to haggle over the price too long lest Arsenal change their mind – which they may well do if their hopes of signing Rodrygo start to go south. Don’t discount a two-way battle for Eze breaking out just yet.

Leeds United eyeing Serie A star Noah Okafor

Leeds United may have only just signed former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but that doesn’t mean that they’re done signing attacking players – GiveMeSport now suggest that they could bid for AC Milan’s Noah Okafor “in the coming weeks.”

Citing Athletic reporter Beren Cross, they suggest that Leeds have “shown an interest” in the Switzerland international after facing him in a pre-season friendly – but this article does state that no formal approach has yet been made, and nor is it clear that the anybody has spoken to Okafor’s representatives as yet.

GiveMeSport go on to reinforce recent stories which suggest that Leeds are also interested in Leicester City full-back James Justin, supposedly also a target for Everton, although there are no details about the finances that might be involved.

The 3AM Verdict: The primary sourcing for this story seems solid, but with so little detail and no word of active negotiations, it’s impossible to gauge how likely such a deal is to come to fruition. We also suspect that Everton might be leading the race for Justin, although Leeds’ name is cropping up more and more.

Nottingham Forest reach £26m agreement for striker signing

Let’s wrap up with a story from Sport Witness, who are one of a number of media outlets to report that Nottingham Forest have “reached an agreement” with French club Stade Rennais over a deal for centre-forward Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Sport Witness cite multiple sources in the French who media back up the claim that Kalimuendo is on his way to the Premier League, with personal terms also alleged to have been agreed – although L’Equipe apparently don’t feel able to confirm that it’s Forest who succeeded with a bid, adding just a hint of doubt into the equation.

Other outlets are confident that it’s Forest, however, and a transfer is now said to be “progressing towards being concluded”, which is the kind of phrase you only see in articles where the author is struggling to hit his word count.

The 3AM Verdict: This is being widely reported now and looks to be a done deal – and who knows, may even have been announced by the time you read this, although it sounds like there’s a medical to sort out at some point. Chris Wood might finally have some competition at the City Ground.

Once again, it’s time for our morning round up and review of the juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours – and we’re starting off with a story which should interest Newcastle United fans reading.

The Magpies’ search for a striker (and for someone more willing to play than Alexander Isak) has been a major struggle this summer, but could finally end with a move for Samu Aghehowa, according to Football Insider.

They say that Newcastle are expected to submit a formal offer “imminently” for the 21-year-old Porto striker, but the bad news is that they aren’t alone in being interested – Aston Villa are keen too, as are Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Juventus. We know how that sort of competition tends to end for Newcastle.

Should they miss out on yet another striker, however, they do at least have a back-up plan and are said to be “one of five sides in the race” for Chelsea and Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson. They’re bound to win one of these transfer battles, right?

The 3AM Verdict: There’s no detail on the finances involved, unfortunately, and this feels like speculation rather than a story based on anything especially tangible – not that Aghehowa isn’t likely to be among the names on Newcastle’s list under the circumstances. We suspect that they end up signing two strikers, assuming Isak leaves, with one likely to be Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, and we’d hazard an educated guess that Jackson is the safest bet from among the other options.

Fulham could replace outgoing striker with Spurs star

Let’s head down to London now – according to a story from TBR Football, based in part on reporting by Sun journalist Dean Scoggins, Fulham are “potential suitors” for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.

The Cottagers are likely to lose striker Rodrigo Muniz, who is a target for Atalanta, and see Richarlison as possible replacement. Marco Silva has coached the Brazilian at both Everton and Watford and that connection would help to make this “an easy deal to do”.

There’s no word on the finances involved in a deal for a player who once cost Spurs £60m, but Fulham may not have too much competition and should have some cash to spend after Muniz moves on, with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest also possible destinations for the centre-forward.

The 3AM Verdict: This is a very plausible story but the way it’s presented does make it sound more like supposition than anything especially solid – nevertheless, it makes sense for Silva to be in for an old favourite and Fulham most certainly need some fresh signings in attack. One to watch with interest.

Arsenal find buyer for £15m man

Finally, a story for the Arsenal supporters among you courtesy of GiveMeSport, who claim that Portuguese side Porto have “shown an interest” in versatile defender Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Porto have supposedly “made contact” ahead of a possible and although discussion “are still at an early stage”, the Gunners are keen to sell Zinchenko to make some money from him before his contract expires next summer.

Apparently Fulham have also considered a bid for the Ukraine international but negotiations “have not advanced” and as such Porto are now the favourites. Arsenal are looking for £15m, but Zinchenko’s £200,000 per week wages could pose a problem.

The 3AM Verdict: We haven’t seen many sources backing this up from the Portuguese side but that doesn’t make it untrue, and certainly Arsenal have been looking around for buyers. We suspect that Zinchenko leaves one way or the other, but we doubt that Fulham are a likely destination given the Cottagers’ needs and finances.

To say it’s been a busy summer would be a serious understatement – and to help you keep track of everything happening in a fast-moving transfer window, we’re back with our latest round-up and review of the latest Premier League transfer rumours, starting with a story from fans of both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Social media darling Fabrizio Romano claimed on Tuesday morning that Spurs were “back in talks” over a deal for Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, a move that they had appeared to have abandoned after buying Mohammed Kudus earlier in the summer – and despite Arsenal’s long-standing interest, Eze is said to be “keen” to move to Spurs.

Arsenal have been working on deals for both Eze and Rodrygo for weeks, but their hesitation may have allowed Spurs to steal a march as they return to Eze following the serious knee injury sustained by James Maddison in pre-season.

Spurs’ widely-reported bid for Manchester City’s Savinho is now impacted by this latest development as that’s said to be a “separate deal”, but there are no guarantees that Spurs will get their hands on Eze – his release clause has expired, according to Romano, so any move “depends on Crystal Palace”.

The 3AM Verdict: Palace have made it clear that they will let Marc Guéhi leave this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer, and we imagine the same will hold true for Eze. As for whether Spurs will really be able to beat Arsenal to the punch, we don’t know, with other reports yet to corroborate Romano’s story. It sounds like previous suggestions that Spurs were in for Como’s Nico Paz were either wide of the mark, or that the deal is simply not going ahead as it stands.

Aston Villa star eyes Newcastle move

Over to The Athletic, now, who have an interesting update concerning the future of Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, who has been linked with a move to just about every club in the top flight. With Ramsey failing to agree a new contract at Villa Park, it’s implied that they are prepared to let him leave and that while “many suitors have expressed an interest”, his “preferred destination” is now Newcastle United.

The two teams are “starting talks” now to see whether a deal can be agreed, with Ramsey said to be a “priority target” for the Magpies. There are no financial details but previous stories concerning Ramsey’s future have suggested a price point in the region of £40m.

The 3AM Verdict: Ramsey leaving Villa seems like a near-certainty at this stage, and Newcastle make sense as a destination given their need for attacking depth. They’re probably just surprised to be a player’s first choice for once.

Manchester United given clear path to star player – if current starter leaves

There has been plenty of reporting concerning the future of Gianluigi Donnarumma over the past 48 hours after PSG decided to prematurely sign his replacement in Lucas Chevalier – and both Manchester United and Chelsea have been extensively linked.

To summarise the current state of affairs, we’re going to pull a couple of reports together. Firstly, Fabrizio Romano seems to think that Chelsea are out of the picture. Donnarumma is “not a target” for the Blues, with no talks taking place, as the club are apparently content with their current options between the sticks.

That could leave Manchester United with an open goal, but The Daily Express suggest that a bid will be contingent on André Onana leaving first – United are “not expected to enter the frame for Donnarumma” unless “significant progress” is made with finding buyers for Onana and other players that are no longer wanted at Old Trafford.

The 3AM Verdict: It seems relatively likely that Donnarumma doesn’t make a Premier League move this summer, although the possibility that one of the world’s best goalkeepers warms a bench for a year seems hard to fathom. We expect further developments before the full picture becomes clear. As it stands, there are a lot of contradictory stories out there.
