The Numbers: Glasner's record-breaking reign at Palace - Crystal Palace F.C.
Description

The Austrian declared upon his arrival at Selhurst Park in February 2024: "I'm really convinced that we’ll reach our goal, that we can improve as a team, that we can improve individually – and then that we’ll enjoy our time together.”

Safe to say, Oliver – we did.

Although it's hard to quantify his achievements, we'll do our best by summing up some of Glasner's most impressive Palace statistics, below...

Years for Palace without a major honour – and then three in the space of 13 months.

Three

Glasner became the third manager of an English club to lift a major European trophy in their last game in charge, after Keith Burkinshaw at Tottenham (1984 UEFA Cup) and Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea (2019 Europa League).

Matches in charge for the Austrian, yielding 51 wins – the...

Second

Highest win percentage (42.15%) of any manager leading the Eagles in solely the top-flight.

Goals scored during Glasner's reign – an average of...

Goals per game.

Goals conceded in all competitions – meaning Palace had a...

+40

Goal difference during Glasner's reign.

Four

Since Glasner's appointment in February 2024, only four other Premier League sides (Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Everton) conceded fewer Premier League goals than the Eagles' 116.

Since Glasner’s first game against Burnley, only Arsenal (40) and Manchester City (35) had more clean sheets in the league than Palace’s 28.

Five

Only five other teams picked up more Premier League away points than Palace's 60 under Glasner: Arsenal (89), City (81), Liverpool (71), Forest (64) and Chelsea (63).

Two

Incredibly, there were only two teams who ever managed to defeat Glasner's Palace in knockout football: Arsenal (in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in 24/25 and 25/26) and Macclesfield (in this season's FA Cup).

Palace's Premier League points tally in our 2024/25 FA Cup-winning season surpassed our previous highest points in the competition, 49 – which was achieved in the 2023/24, 2018/19, and 1992/93 (42-game) campaigns.

Five

There were only five league defeats on the road last season – the Eagles' best-ever top-flight record.

Minutes played on the road without conceding between December 2024 and April 2025 – a run which incorporated six straight away wins without conceding.

Ten

Palace's run saw us match our previous club-record of 10 away league games unbeaten – a best in the top-flight, but achieved on four previous occasions in lower divisions.

Another Premier League club record set in – for consecutive matches in the competition we had scored in (between our 2-1 win over Southampton on 29th December, and our 5-2 loss at City in April 2025).

Straight home Premier League matches unbeaten, between February and November 2025 – another club record.

First

Ever Austrian manager to win the FA Cup, and the first to win the Community Shield.

Second

Ever Austrian manager to lift two European trophies (after Ernst Happel).

That was the last time a team won a trophy in their first campaign in major European competition since 1988, when KV Mechelen won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup – truly a generational victory for Palace!

The last time an English team (Nottingham Forest) accomplished that same achievement.

Palace are also the first ‘new’ English side to lift a major European trophy since Everton lifted the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1984/85.

Palace have become the 12th different English club to win a major UEFA men's club competition (after Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Ipswich Town, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United).

Not once

Did Palace trail at half-time, in 17 games in Europe this season.

First

Palace topped the competition for a plethora of team statistics in the Conference League this season, including goals scored (26), kilometres covered (1735.52) and clean sheets (six).

Nine

Victories for Palace in their 15 matches in the Conference League proper (excluding qualifiers) – a record total of wins by a team in their debut season in major European competition. Dominant!

In Glasner's first third-of-a-season in charge, his team's 29 goals in his first 14 games helped Palace break our record for the most goals scored in a Premier League season (57), and obliterate our record tally in a top-flight campaign, previously set back in 1992 (with 53).

Palace enjoyed a club-record 19-game unbeaten run between April and October 2025 - of the 19 games, seven matches were against the Premier League's traditional ‘big six’ clubs.

It was the longest unbeaten run in Europe’s top five leagues at the time by some distance - and included nine clean sheets.

It was also the joint-longest unbeaten run of any non-'Big Six' English club since the formation of the Premier League's formation in 1992 (with Wimbledon’s 19 in 1996).

Five

Only five other English clubs have won more major trophies (Man City and Man United with 24; Chelsea with 20; Arsenal with 17; and Liverpool with 16) than Crystal Palace in the 21st century.

Countless

"Moments for our lives" – thank you, Oliver.

Factfile

Manager: Igor Tudor (Interim until end of 2025/26)

League Position: 16th

Ground: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Founded: 1882 (143 years ago)

In their manager's words...

In his pre-match press conference Tottenham boss Igor Tudor said his players understand the seriousness of their situation ahead of Palace's visit on Thursday evening.

Spurs are just one point ahead of the Premier League relegation zone and are looking for a first win in 2026. Tudor was appointed last month after previous manager Thomas Frank left following a home defeat against Newcastle.

Since the former Croatia international arrived, Spurs have been beaten by Arsenal and Fulham.

"Everyone understands the situation, but we are working hard to change this," he said in his pre-match press conference. "Otherwise there is something wrong if you don’t understand.

"Of course my job is to put the pressure away, but their job is also to accept this pressure as part of the job. Pressure is everywhere, but you need to love this job, you need to enjoy this job like you did when you start at 10-years-old to do this sport, so you don’t need to forget that this in the end only sport. Real pressures are other jobs.

"Coaches always feel the pressure. It's a seven out of ten [the pressure]. It's always a part of the job to feel the pressure, but also to enjoy in this job what you can enjoy."

Tottenham Team News

Tudor has confirmed that Djed Spence will remain sidelined for the game against Palace. The defender missed Spurs' defeat at Fulham last time out and has not recovered in time for this one.

Cristian Romero remains suspended, the last of his four game ban.

Tottenham have a lengthy injury list and Tudor confirmed that no-one from that list was ready to return against the Eagles. This includes James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Lucas Bergvall, Mo Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ben Davies.

Their Season So Far...

Tottenham defeated Palace at Selhurst Park back in December for their seventh league win of the season. However, since that victory they have suffered a major dip in form, picking up four point from the next ten league games. Going into Thursday's meeting, they sit 16th in the Premier League table.

That run has seen a change in manager, as the Europa League holders aim to drag themselves away from a relegation scrap.

Despite a hugely disappointing domestic season – Tottenham also exited both domestic cups early – once again Europe has provided solace.

Frank steered Tottenham into a top-eight finish in the UEFA Champions League league phase. Spurs lost just one of their eight games, a 5-3 defeat against holders PSG, who they also pushed to penalties in the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the season.

They will face Spanish side Atlético Madrid in the Round of 16 later this month, with the second leg on home soil.

The Boss: Igor Tudor

Tudor began his first managerial job in England last month, appointed Tottenham manager until the end of the season.

A defender in his playing days, Igor started and ended his career with boyhood club Hajduk Split either side of a most notable nine-year spell at Italian giants Juventus.

While with the 'Old Lady' he won two Serie A titles, two Italian Super Cups, an Intertoto Cup and started in the 2003 Champions League final.

Description

On reflections from Sunday’s loss at Old Trafford…

We took many positives from this game. But also on the other side, we could see what we can and have to improve. This is what we showed the players.

This is what we trained. I said it when we started in January in the front with new players to get each other known. Therefore, every game, every experience is helpful.

Now we are starting the crunch time in the UEFA Conference League. We are starting the crunch time in the Premier League. We are on top of it.

Everybody is in the best shape and we are in the best shape as a team. I think we are not there right now, but I feel we are going step by step into the right direction.

On Tottenham’s winless run of 10 games…

Of course, we know about their situation. The strange thing is that I think they were top eight in the Champions League.

I know they have had many injuries. The new manager [Igor Tudor], we don't know exactly how he will play: he played in a 3-5-2 against Arsenal and in a 4-4-2 against Fulham. I know him because he was Marseille's manager when we played them with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. They played in the 3-4-3 and very often mirrored their opposition.

I don't know exactly how their approach is. But yes, of course, they are under pressure.

We want to show a good performance there. That's the thing that we can influence, we can affect, and that's the most important part: to defend very well, having a good structure and also being confident like we started at Old Trafford.

I think we had a great start into the game [on Sunday], in possession, moving the ball quick, creating chances, playing a lot of the time in their half. And this is what we need at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well.

On Evann Guessand…

He’s had a good start. He's always able to create something. On the other side, he still has to learn our structure, the way we are playing.

Also, he didn't play so many minutes at [Aston] Villa. That's why I rested him at Old Trafford, because he had 90 minutes for many weeks against [Zrinjski] Mostar.

He's a good player, he's a player who can score, who can assist – giving something special, doing things that nobody expects.

On memories of winning away at Tottenham last season…

Looks good. Sounds good. We'll stay in the same hotel!

Of course, we'd take the same result as last year. It was a very good game from us. But different managers, different teams. Also, we have some other players, some new players, compared to the last game.

But we feel better now. We feel more consistent now, and this is what we want to show.

On balancing Premier League and European commitments...

I just can talk about our situation. And I think what we can also see is, because Newcastle are a little bit similar – doing very well in the Champions League, struggling in the league… we are not struggling, we are where Palace has always been, and we play the first time European football...

But yes, if you're not used to it, then it's unfair to compare to teams like [Man] City, like Arsenal, teams always playing European football. Their players are used to this rhythm. They know how to deal with the situation.

I think I mentioned it, it was our 43rd game at Old Trafford and they [Manchester United] had 30. Usually it's the opposite – and we were competitive. This gives me a good feeling.

And I heard an interview with Antonio Conte at Napoli, because they were struggling with some injuries as well. And he said it’s a little bit like a rat race: everybody wants to qualify for Europe, but it means more games. You need to get the money from European football, to get the attention from European football, but you need a bigger squad. You have to pay higher wages at the end. It costs more when qualifying, so that's a little bit irrational. But it is how it is.

I think last year City were struggling with many injuries. November, December they had big problems. I remember I called Pep in summer. We were interested in a player of theirs and he said: ‘no, no way, we need a bigger squad, because we struggled massively last year’.

And I think this is what also you can learn when you play the first time European football: to have a team that is ready to play. Just talking about us, it's a far way to g, but at the end of the season, we could have played 60 competitive games, and that's around 50 percent more than Palace have ever played.

That’s massive and that affects everything. But we want this, to be honest, and that's a challenge. And that's why I really appreciate that here in the club, everybody was really judging the situation knowing the circumstances, knowing the amount of games, seeing the effort of everyone.

We weren't really pleased with the situation in some weeks or months, but we had our explanations for it, so that's why we could really work – and we always work together in a very good way.

On preparing to face Igor Tudor for a third time in his career…

We're always focussing, because this is what we can affect, on what we can influence.

The players had off yesterday, but today we had a good, intense training. Before we had a long video meeting about what we have done well against United and what we can do better.

Because we don't know if they play a back three, a back four, how we want to press them or not. We don't know. Usually, Igor Tudor pressed man-to-man, this is what they did most of the time in these two games. But also against Arsenal, they were sitting in a very deep block.

We have to be prepared that they can change it within the game, and we need to have the right answers, and that's why we're always focussing on our game, let's say, at least for 90% [of the time].
