Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Brentford forward Igor Thiago, as per Caught Offside.

After letting Ivan Toney leave the club, the Bees decided to reinforce the centre-forward position by purchasing the Brazilian from Club Brugge ahead of last season.

However, the 24-year-old struggled to serve his club properly in his debut campaign due to injury problems, making only eight Premier League appearances with just one coming as a starter.

This season, Thiago has enjoyed a stellar start, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances across all competitions. Following Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa’s departure this summer, it was thought that the West London club might struggle this term.

However, they have been displaying promising performances courtesy of Thiago, sitting in mid-table, and have already won against Manchester United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.

Now, Caught Offside claim that having been impressed by the South American’s recent displays, Tottenham have registered their interest in signing him.

Thiago to Tottenham

The Lilywhites are already preparing to submit a formal proposal, and their intentions are to buy him on an initial loan deal plus an option to seal the deal for around £30m. Additionally, they are willing to include add-ons to persuade the Bees to let him leave.

However, the report say that purchasing Thiago won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Newcastle United are currently leading the race and are ready to launch a formal proposal worth around £35m. Moreover, Aston Villa are interested in signing the Brentford star to support Ollie Watkins.

Thiago is a 6ft 3in tall player and is quick, additionally, he is strong, good in the air, efficient in hold up play, and works hard without possession.

Thiago has started showcasing his qualities in the Premier League in recent weeks, and if he continues to prove his worth throughout the season, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Thomas Frank’s side eventually make a concrete approach to lure him away from Gtech Community Stadium next year.

Liverpool are reportedly in a fierce competition with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-Jae, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After guiding Napoli to win the Serie A title in the 2022/23 season, the 28-year-old attracted a lot of attention, and English clubs registered their interest in signing him.

However, the Bavarian club eventually managed to win the race. But he has been struggling to showcase his best at Allianz Arena in recent years.

Following Jonathan Tah’s arrival this summer, the South Korean has found himself down in the pecking order under Vincent Kompany. So, speculation surrounding his future has started emerging.

Fichajes report that following Kim’s impressive spell at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, he has a very good reputation in Serie A. So, the Italian clubs are interested in signing him.

However, Liverpool have also expressed their interest in purchasing him and have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop. It is highly unlikely that the German giant will allow him to leave in January, and a summer move is the most expected outcome.

Battle

The Merseyside club aren’t the only club looking at Kim, as Chelsea and Tottenham have also been keeping a close eye.

The defender still has a contract until 2028 with Bayern Munich, so they are in a strong position to demand a large fee to let him leave and want around £43m.

Liverpool currently have Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Virgil Van Dijk as centre-back options following Giovanni Leoni’s season-ending knee injury.

But the Frenchman and the Dutchman have showcased inconsistent performances this season; as a result, Arne Slot’s side have been struggling with defensive frailties.

On the other hand, Chelsea have a few injury problems at the back, so they have also struggled to keep clean sheets thus far this campaign.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have addressed their defensive issues this season that they endured last term. But they could do with adding depth to this position as Radu Dragusin has been out injured, while Cristian Romero has recently picked up an injury.

Kim is 6ft 3in tall and quick; moreover, he is good in the air and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Liverpool, Chelsea, or Tottenham should any of those clubs eventually manage to secure his service next year.

Tottenham Hotspur looking to sign Samu Aghehowa from Porto next summer

Description

Tottenham Hotspur earned a vital win on Sunday against Everton with a brace from Micky van de Ven and a late strike from Pape Mata Sarr sending them to third in the Premier League standings with a 3-0 success at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

And while the result would matter most for Thomas Frank, it is hard to look past the lack of contribution from Tottenham’s number nines this season, Randal Kolo Muani in the Everton game, and Dominic Solanke as well as Richarlison otherwise.

Dominic Solanke’s fitness has been a cause for concern for much of his time at the club since joining from Bournemouth last year, and though Richarlison started the season well, his form has dipped over the last few matches with little impact on the pitch.

Spurs are looking for a long-term answer to their problem and Caught Offside has reported that they are pondering over the signing of Porto striker and Spanish international Samu Aghehowa, who has also been linked with Chelsea in the recent past.

He has a release clause worth £87 million with the Liga NOS giants, and having made a fast start to the season with eight goals and two assists in all competitions, he could well be on his way to the Premier League next year after a stalled switch in 2024.

Tottenham might have clear path to Aghehowa

Chelsea would have been the most serious competitors to Tottenham Hotspur’s bid of landing Samu Aghehowa, but with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap joining them this year, the Blues are unlikely to sign another striker anytime soon.

Consequently, Tottenham Hotspur would have a clear path to signing the 21-year-old as the rest of their Premier League rivals already have potent first-choice strikers and might not want to pay as much for Aghehowa either.

Porto’s chief marksman promises to be a terrific signing for the Lilywhites with his movement and strength in the box a massive plus, whereas his defensive contribution through pressing and tracking back set to make him an ideal fit in Thomas Frank’s setup.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur keen on Ezri Konsa

The Premier League’s top clubs this season, barring Arsenal, have all been fairly underwhelming defensively this season and are expected to make a collective effort to revamp their backlines over the two transfer windows next year.

Graeme Bailey (h/t TBR Football) has reported that Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa is particularly set to be of interest to clubs with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all registering interest in his signing.

Manchester City are also eyeing a deal for the 28-year-old, who has a £31 million valuation on Transfermarkt, and in spite of being a key part of Unai Emery’s plans, could be open to trying out a new challenge with one of the league’s bigger sides.

Liverpool likely to win the race for Konsa

Liverpool have looked far from title candidates this season and unless there is a major change in things in the Premier League, their title defence is likely to come to an end, mainly due to some very unimpressive defending.

Arne Slot could see a lot of value in a player of Ezri Konsa’s calibre given that he has a rich experience in the Premier League itself, has strong defensive capabilities and recovery figures, while also being a decent option on the ball.

Konsa’s ability to play as a right back will also be seen favourable owing to Jeremie Frimpong’s poor form and fitness since joining from Bayer Leverkusen, while the club’s overall project does seem exciting even though recent results have said otherwise.

Both, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have adequate depth at the back, and while they might go for specialist right backs or right wing backs, there is not much value in Konsa with respect to what they are likely to be after.

Chelsea, meanwhile, might feel that the Aston Villa defender’s age does not align well with their sporting project as most of their signings have been much younger, so they may eye alternatives at centre backs, which remains a position they want to revamp.

Everton interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison in 2026

Description

Everton are 12th in the Premier League but with only one win in their last five matches in the English top flight, they would feel that they have underperformed so far this season with goals particularly a cause for concern for the team.

David Moyes’ men have scored only nine times in eight fixtures so far in the campaign and primary striker Beto has only found the back of the net once, whereas backup option Thierno Barry has yet to open his account for 2025/26.

A new man in the middle is expected to be the club’s priority heading into 2026 and as per TEAMtalk, Everton are interested in re-signing Richarlison from Tottenham Hotspur with the Lilywhites also prepared to get rid of him for the right sum.

Though he has made a decent start to the campaign with three Premier League goals and an assist, Spurs are looking to sell the Brazilian international in order to make way for another striker given that Dominic Solanke has also struggled with his fitness.

Everton return on the cards for Richarlison

Richarlison could fancy a return to Everton in 2026, although the Toffees will need to be wary of interest from elsewhere, particularly Saudi Arabia, if they are to secure a transfer for the 28-year-old at some point next year.

He is valued at £22 million on Transfermarkt and that is likely to be a sum that will satisfy Tottenham Hotspur considering the former Watford marksman will enter the final year of his contract in London at the end of the ongoing season.

The Brazilian’s fitness over the last year has not been very promising, but that has been a general theme in Tottenham’s squad, so with Everton needing some quality in the number nine position, it may be a risk worth taking on a nominally priced player.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the door at Tottenham Hotspur is open for Richarlison in January itself, which would be the best-case scenario for Everton as they might not be too keen on waiting until next summer for a vital addition.

Tottenham interested in signing Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, as per TEAMtalk.

Following Son Heung-min’s departure and James Maddison’s serious knee injury this summer, the Lilywhites decided to reinforce the creative midfield and wide forward positions by signing Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghanaian has enjoyed a bright start this season, making five goal contributions in eight Premier League appearances thus far. However, Simons has taken time to settle in his new surroundings, making only one assist in the league.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Thomas Frank wants a new wide forward in January and Spurs have started identifying options to fulfill their new manager’s wish.

The Lilywhites have earmarked Antoine Semenyo as the top target, but are also interested in Akliouche and have been keeping a close eye on his performances before making a potential swoop.

Frank had the opportunity to watch him closely during last night’s Champions League clash, and Spurs will keep an eye on him against PSG and Olympique de Marseille before the January window.

The North London club hold a long-term interest in the Frenchman as they initially expressed their interest in him this summer. However, they never formalised their interest and bought Simons and Kudus, instead.

Akliouche to Tottenham

The 23-year-old is valued at around £39m by Transfermarkt and still has three years left in his current contract. Therefore, Monaco are expected to demand a big fee to let him leave next year.

Akliouche is a left-footed right winger by trait but is also comfortable in the creative midfield role. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can play threading passes between the lines, and also works hard without possession.

He made 19 goal contributions across all competitions last term and has made three goal contributions in seven Ligue 1 appearances thus far this season.

Akliouche is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham, and considering Kudus is capable of playing on the left, Frank can deploy both him and the Frenchman in his starting XI should Tottenham eventually manage to secure his service next year.

Man Utd & Tottenham showing ‘strongest interest’ in Mateta - football-talk.co.uk
Description

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly showing the ‘strongest interest’ in signing Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, as per Caught Offside.

The 28-year-old initially moved to Selhurst Park from German side Mainz on loan back in 2021 before the move became permanent in the following year. At first, the Frenchman took time to settle into the physicality of the Premier League, but he has been in excellent form since Oliver Glasner’s arrival as the manager.

The forward made more than 20 goal contributions across all competitions in the last two seasons; moreover, he guided his team to win the FA Cup and Community Shield recently.

Mateta has continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess this season, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances in all tournaments.

Now, Caught Offside claim that the Frenchman has entered the final two years of his current contract, and Crystal Palace want to keep hold of him by tying him down to a fresh term.

However, Mateta doesn’t want to prolong his stay at the South London club as he is keen to take the next step in his career. So, Glasner’s side would be open to letting him leave in January for a fee of around £40m.

Battle

Despite purchasing Benjamin Sesko this summer, Man Utd are planning to buy a new striker and are showing the ‘strongest interest’ in signing the Crystal Palace star.

However, the report say that purchasing the France international won’t be straightforward for the Old Trafford club as Newcastle United and Tottenham are also keen on him.

United currently have Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee as striker options, but it appears Ruben Amorim hasn’t been convinced by the Dutchman. So, he has found it difficult to play thus far this season.

On the other hand, Tottenham have been without their first-choice striker, Dominic Solanke, during the first few months of this season due to injury problems.

So, purchasing a Premier League-proven player like Mateta would be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd or Tottenham should either club purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club or the Red Devils eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services next year.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make a move to trump Chelsea in the race to sign FC Porto star Samu Aghehowa, as per TEAMtalk.

The 21-year-old joined the Portuguese giant from Atletico Madrid last year. He enjoyed a productive debut campaign at Estadio do Dragao last term, scoring 25 goals and registering three assists across all competitions.

This season, he has showcased his goal-scoring prowess as well, netting eight times in six appearances in domestic competitions. Moreover, he has helped his side place themselves at the top of the Liga Portugal.

After displaying his qualities in club football, Aghehowa has secured his place in the Spain national team. Now, TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham are interested in signing a new striker as Dominic Solanke has struggled with injury problems this season and have identified Aghehowa as a serious option.

However, the North London club aren’t the only club in this race as Chelsea are also plotting a swoop. The Blues made a concrete approach to buy the Spaniard last year, but eventually couldn’t manage to finalise the deal.

The report say that purchasing the youngster won’t be easy for Tottenham or Chelsea in mid-season, with Spurs also looking for a new wide forward in the winter window.

Battle

Aghehowa is valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt and still has four years left in his current contract. Therefore, Porto are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to let him leave next year.

Tottenham currently have Richarlison and Mathys Tel as striker options alongside Solanke. However, Tel is young, and it looks like he isn’t ready to play regularly at the highest level yet.

On the other hand, Chelsea signed Liam Delap and João Pedro this summer to bolster the centre-forward position, but the former Ipswich Town star has been sidelined due to a hamstring problem in recent months.

Aghehowa, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in finishing off his chances, and also works hard without possession. He is a talented player and could become a top-class forward in the future.

So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham or Chelsea should either club eventually manage to purchase him in the upcoming winter window.

Description

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Ivan Toney, as per Caught Offside.

After letting Harry Kane leave, the Lilywhites decided to reinforce the centre-forward position by purchasing Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth for a club record fee last year.

However, he displayed average performances last term before remaining sidelined due to injury problems during the first few months of this campaign.

So, Thomas Frank has deployed Richarlison in the centre-forward position thus far this term. However, he has struggled with fitness problems since joining from Everton a few years ago. Mathys Tel is another option the North London club have for the No.9 role, but he is still very young and needs time to develop his career.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Tottenham are planning to buy a new striker in January and have earmarked Toney as a serious option, having been impressed by his recent eye-catching displays in the Middle East.

Frank knows the player very well, having developed him at Brentford, and is a ‘big admirer’ of the forward. However, the North London club aren’t the only club interested in Toney, as Chelsea are also considering making a move.

Battle

The Blues decided to reinforce the frontline by purchasing Liam Delap and João Pedro this summer. However, the former Ipswich Town star has been out injured, so Enzo Maresca is willing to sign a new striker in January.

Toney would be open to returning to the Premier League to secure his place in the England national team for next year’s World Cup. However, Al-Ahli don’t want to part ways with him in mid-season with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

Toney showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League during his time at Gtech Community Stadium and has continued to score goals for Al-Ahli, making 11 goal contributions in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Englishman is still just 29 and can play at the highest level for a few more years. Therefore, he could be a shrewd acquisition for Chelsea or Tottenham should either club eventually manage to secure his service.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are on the road in the Champions League for the second successive game as they face Ligue 1 side AC Monaco on matchday three of the competition at 20:00 UK time tomorrow at Stade Louis II in Monte Carlo.

With four points on the board in two matches, Thomas Frank’s men are starting to mount up enough in the bag to qualify for the knockout phases and another win would put them in a more comfortable position to seal their objective.

Having said that, here is how the visitors may line-up for tomorrow’s match.

Goalkeeeper – Guglielmo Vicario is expected to get the nod in goal for his 11th game in all competitions this season.

Defenders – Pedro Porro and Djed Spence have had a great start to the season, and they both are likely to receive starts at right and left back, respectively. With Cristian Romero injured while warming up against Aston Villa at the weekend, Kevin Danso and Micky van de Ven might round off an unchanged back four.

Two changes in midfield

Midfielders – Thomas Frank is likely to ring in two changes in Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield as Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur are both likely to drop out, making way for 19-year-old Lucas Bergvall and Pape Mata Sarr in the double pivot. Mathys Tel, who played as the striker against Aston Villa last time could be deployed as the number 10 this time.

Mohammed Kudus is likely to continue down the right wing, whereas Xavi Simons could move to the left side having played in the last two matches as an attacking midfielder.

Forward – Richarlison could lead the line for Tottenham Hotspur with Dominic Solanke still sidelined with injury.

Here is a look at the Spurs team on paper.
