Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s now heard about Jack Grealish future amid Tottenham and Newcastle links

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been linked with Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish in recent weeks.

TBR Football revealed just before the opening January transfer window that Grealish is indeed a player who Tottenham admire.

Indeed, Spurs have liked Grealish for some time now and consider him a player who can improve their team.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reported that Newcastle have been eyeing the England international alongside Tottenham.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Grealish’s present and future amid links with the likes of Spurs and Newcastle.

Jack Grealish ‘no longer untouchable’ at Manchester City

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, reiterated that the prospect of Jack Grealish leaving Man City in 2025 has been in the air since the start of the season.

The transfer insider also said Grealish has been nothing but a consummate professional at the Etihad Stadium, causing no problems or issues at the club.

However, Romano stressed that Grealish is “no longer untouchable” and that a potential move away from the Etihad Stadium is very much on the cards in a few months’ time.

“In general guys, since the start of the season, the feeling for summer 2025 was for Jack Grealish to have concrete chances to leave Manchester (City),” said Romano.

“Let me say that my information is that Jack Grealish is giving his best for Manchester City.

“He’s not desperate to leave the club, he’s not creating any issues or any problems, so top professional.

“Also great relationship with all his teammates, never creates any problem, so this is highly rated by Manchester City, very happy with his attitude.

“But in terms of future we have to be attentive to the situation of Jack Grealish because in case of a good proposal for the player and for the club in the summer, there is a chance for Jack Grealish to go.

“He’s no longer untouchable for Manchester City and is a situation to watch for the summer transfer window.

“At the moment there is nothing really concrete but it’s just a feeling at Manchester City that there could be some movement in that position with Jack Grealish potentially involved.”

Where Jack Grealish could play for Tottenham

If Grealish – who Michael Dawson has deemed ‘magnificent’ – can rediscover his top form, he’d be a star for any side.

Tottenham actually came close to signing Grealish a few years ago, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

Now, Spurs may have the opportunity to sign him again, and he’d be a versatile option for them were that to happen.

Grealish has largely been utilised on the left wing at Man City, meaning he could potentially cover for – or replace – Son Heung-min at Tottenham.

He has also featured at No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 on a handful of occasions, showing he can also do a job there covering for the likes of Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and James Maddison.

At Villa, Grealish was mostly used at No. 10 and, considering how dazzling he was when in claret and blue, this would no doubt be food for thought for Ange Postecoglou.

Man City paid £100million for Grealish in 2021, but it remains to be seen whether he’d command a similar fee were he to be sold in the summer.

What was noticed about Ange Postecoglou the morning after Tottenham lost to Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur have had a rollercoaster of a week to say the least.

Spurs picked up an impressive win in the Premier League last weekend as they managed to get the better of a very decent Brentford side.

Meanwhile, there was a boost at Tottenham on transfer deadline day as Mathys Tel made a dramatic U-turn and signed for Spurs at the eleventh hour.

Earlier this week, there was a feeling of optimism at Spurs that hasn’t been felt for a while.

However, that optimism was destroyed on Thursday as Spurs lost 4-0 to Liverpool.

This was certainly a disheartening defeat, and according to Tom Barclay, speaking on The Tottenham Way, Ange Postecoglou looked exhausted the next day.

Ange Postecoglou looked exhausted after Liverpool loss

Barclay says that he actually drove past Postecoglou the morning after Spurs’ loss to Liverpool on his way into the training ground.

The journalist says that Postecoglou looked very tired on his way into Hotspur Way and that there was a feeling of deflation.

“And I think everyone’s kind of feeling afterwards was just flatness, wasn’t it? Deflation. And even And this morning, and okay, he’s had a late night, and I saw him actually this morning coming in as I drove past, and he had this sort of black suitcase, and he looked like someone who had had a long journey and not much sleep,” Barclay said.

But still, I think it’s more than just a lack of sleep. You know, everyone just feels incredibly deflated this morning, don’t they?”

What Ange Postecoglou said about his lack of sleep

It’s interesting that Barclay immediately picked up on the fact that Postecoglou looked tired, because the manager himself would admit in his press conference ahead of the Aston Villa game that he didn’t sleep after losing to Liverpool.

“There’s always challenges in management, that doesn’t change. I got up this morning and we didn’t sleep, but it’s not like I got up this morning and didn’t want to come in. I came in early and I want to try and help everyone to make sure we’re ready for the big game on Sunday,” Postecoglou said.

Postecoglou and his Spurs team won’t have got back from Liverpool until the early hours of Friday morning, and that will, inevitably, lead to fatigue.

The last thing this Spurs team need right now is more tiredness in the squad amid their current injury crisis, and their game against Liverpool on Thursday may well have affected their preparation for their match against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tottenham have held internal talks about signing Crystal Palace star who Eberechi Eze called ‘incredible’

Not many people would’ve expected Tottenham Hotspur to be below Crystal Palace in the Premier League at this stage of the season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have had an awful campaign so far, and things went from bad to worse after they crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

The focus now will be on the FA Cup and the Europa League, while Postecoglou will also want to improve his position in the Premier League table.

But, talks are also going on about the summer transfer window, and two names have been earmarked for a potential move at the end of the season.

Tottenham want to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur’s focus recently has been on signing young, talented players.

The likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been huge hits this season, while Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are exciting signings as well.

The North Londoners are keen to continue going down the same road, and they have identified two young targets for the next transfer window.

One of them is Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.

The 21-year-old made a fantastic name for himself in the Premier League last season. He was brilliant for England too, with Eberechi Eze even calling him an “incredible player” following his Three Lions debut (BBC).

Now, Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham have held ‘internal’ talks about Wharton and are expected to push for his signature in the summer.

However, we’re sure a few other big clubs will be in the race to sign the midfielder as well, especially if he can replicate his form from last season for Crystal Palace in the coming months.

The other young English player Tottenham are pushing to sign

Paul Merson recently urged Tottenham to improve their midfield because the players they currently have there aren’t quite good enough.

Wharton would be an incredible addition to Postecoglou’s side, but he isn’t the only young English player Spurs want to bring in.

The report claims that Tottenham remain keen on Southampton’s Tyler Dibling and are expected to make a move to sign him too along with Wharton.

The youngster was considered in the winter window, but it was reported that Tottenham gave up after Southampton demanded a fortune for Dibling on deadline day.

It remains to be seen what his price tag will be in the summer.

What Ange Postecoglou now wants from Tottenham’s board amid increasing sack threat

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure in wake of Spurs’ League Cup loss to Liverpool.

Spurs have been struggling in the Premier League but it was hoped that the League Cup could prove a welcome distraction.

Tottenham went to Liverpool leading 1-0 from the first leg, but found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing as the Reds reached the final at Spurs’ expense.

Tottenham’s capitulation led to criticism from pundits such as Jamie Redknapp, who said Spurs fell to a “horrendous” defeat and lacked fight.

Now, a report has emerged regarding Tottenham’s stance on Postecoglou’s future and what the manager is said to have asked from the Spurs board.

Ange Postecoglou wants to be given time at Tottenham to get the best out of Mathys Tel

Tottenham are next in action on Sunday when they head to Aston Villa for their FA Cup fourth-round encounter.

Should Spurs fail to win this, then Ange Postecoglou could find himself on the brink at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to GiveMeSport.

It is said that influential figures at Tottenham are fully behind Postecoglou, as per Daniel Levy’s willingness to dip into the transfer market in the final hours of the winter window.

However, Spurs being beaten by Aston Villa and exiting two cup competitions in a matter of days could leave Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham in jeopardy, said the report.

Meanwhile, the outlet has reported that Postecoglou wants to be handed enough time to get the best out of deadline day recruit Mathys Tel.

This comes after Postecoglou stressed how crucial Tel is to his long-term plans and Tottenham’s wider commitment to developing elite up-and-coming talent.

What Postecoglou has publicly said about Tel

Postecoglou has expressed his delight with signing Tel, saying he feels the Bayern Munich loanee will be a “perfect fit” for Tottenham.

“I had a conversation with him and purely around the football and that I think he’ll find a great place here in terms of where is in his career,” said the Spurs boss.

“We’ve shown irrespective of age, he’ll get an opportunity and the way we play will suit him and what we have in the next few months and beyond it’s a perfect fit.

“It’s right that it took as long as it did so he’s comfortable with it.

“That he took so much time and was diligent, and made the decision when he had options, it meant the right mentality, right player.

“He’s ambitious, with self belief and self confidence and feels he can reach the very top.”

Michel Vorm shares whether Tottenham should sack Ange Postecoglou as ‘incapable’ claim made

Tottenham Hotspur are in dire straits at present, struggling in the lower reaches of the Premier League table and getting knocked out of the League Cup in disappointing circumstances.

Spurs went into Thursday’s semi-final second-leg game away at Liverpool holding a 1-0 lead after a great performance in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But rather than build on it, Tottenham were second best throughout as Liverpool made light work of them at Anfield, winning 4-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate.

After the game, Jamie Redknapp criticised Tottenham as he described the 4-0 scoreline as “horrendous” and slated Spurs’ perceived lack of fight.

Michel Vorm, who played for Tottenham between 2014 and 2020, has now given his verdict on Spurs’ current issues and on Ange Postecoglou’s future.

Michel Vorm says sacking Ange Postecoglou won’t change anything

Vorm has acknowledged that Tottenham should not be losing to the likes of Leicester at home and admitted that Spurs seem “incapable” of making the right decisions on the pitch.

However, the former Tottenham goalkeeper doesn’t think that Postecoglou should be sacked, saying it probably wouldn’t change anything amid a major injury crisis at N17.

Vorm is confident Tottenham won’t get relegated and believes things will improve once their injury crisis eases, though he thinks strong characters are a must to get the club back on track.

“Spurs won’t get relegated,” Vorm told GiveMeSport. “Once the fit players return, they will be better. Spurs have a very good squad.

“The team is struggling at the minute, especially at home. You can see the players feel pressure when they are on the pitch.

“The effort and commitment is there, but they just seem incapable of making the right decisions on the pitch.

“The form will turn, but at the minute they need strong characters to push the team on.

“The injury list hasn’t been kind. For instance, they have had to use four goalkeepers this season.

“But even so, the team should be beating Leicester City at home. There’s no disputing this.

“I don’t think replacing Postecoglou would change anything. It’s just important to get all the top players back as soon as possible and then see how things go.”

Tottenham’s fixtures before the March international break

Tottenham must quickly pick themselves up and be ready to go again, with another cup game coming up.

Spurs are next in action on Sunday as they head to Aston Villa for their FA Cup fourth-round clash.

Tottenham have a host of tricky fixtures between now and the March international break.

After the Villa game, Spurs host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday 16 February.

A week later, Tottenham head to Ipswich Town, who won the reverse fixture against Spurs in November.

Tottenham then host reigning champions Manchester City in North London on Wednesday 26 February.

If Spurs reach the fifth round of the FA Cup, they will be in action across the weekend of 1 March.

Tottenham then host Bournemouth on Sunday 9 March and then take on Fulham on Sunday 16 March.

Tottenham’s Timo Werner transfer stance after Europa League squad omission

Tottenham Hotspur have announced their updated Europa League squad after reaching the last 16 of the competition.

There was one notable omission from the updated Europa League squad as Timo Werner, who was in the group-stage squad, was dropped.

Tottenham made three changes to the squad, with Djed Spence plus new signings Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso making the cut.

Meanwhile, Werner has dropped out of the squad along with Radu Dragusin and Fraser Forster, while January signing Antonin Kinsky wasn’t included.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs relayed the news of Tottenham’s updated Europa League squad and also shared what the future holds for Werner.

Tottenham not expected to trigger Timo Werner option to buy

Werner first arrived at Tottenham in January 2023 as he joined on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig midway through the 2023-24 season.

He registered two goals and three assists in 13 Premier League appearances, leading to Spurs opting to sign him again on loan with an £8.5million option to buy.

However, Werner has struggled at Tottenham this season, with just one League Cup goal and three assists in 26 games in all competitions.

Now, according to Jacobs, Tottenham are “not expected” to trigger Werner’s option to buy at the end of the season.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou publicly criticised Werner after Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Rangers in the Europa League in December.

“He wasn’t playing anywhere near the level he should,” Postecoglou said in his post-match press conference.

“When you’ve got 18-year-olds it’s not acceptable to me. I said that to Timo. He’s a senior international, he’s a German international.”

Whether Tottenham could sign more forwards in summer despite Mathys Tel arrival

There is currently ‘very little, or absolutely no chance’ of Werner making a permanent move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of the campaign, according to GiveMeSport.

Tottenham weren’t looking to cut Werner’s loan short, as they still value him as a squad member, but just until the remainder of the season, it is suggested.

Spurs’ move for Tel is another sign of them seeking alternative options to Werner, but the Lilywhites are still expected to move for more attacking players in the summer.

Tottenham are likely to sign another attacker ahead of next season and scouting missions are ongoing with a view to a move beyond June for another forward, added the report.

Jamie O’Hara says he’d actually take 77-year-old manager at Tottenham now

Tottenham Hotspur are at their lowest ebb in years.

Indeed, Spurs sit 14th in the Premier League table, and they’re now also out of the Carabao Cup after a 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Thursday.

Tottenham are really struggling at the moment, and, as ever, poor performances leads to a manager being under pressure.

Ange Postecoglou has been questioned recently, and Tottenham have explored some other options in the market.

Indeed, Spurs have ben linked with Edin Terzic, while it’s been reported that Matt Wells could get the interim job if Ange Postecoglou was sacked.

However, speaking on TalkSPORT, Jamie O’Hara has backed another manager to come in on an interim basis.

Jamie O’Hara would have Harry Redknapp back at Tottenham

O’Hara fielded a call from a Tottenham fan who called for Harry Redknapp to return to Spurs.

The fan wanted Redknapp back in the dugout, and O’Hara wasn’t against the idea at all.

Indeed, the pundit said that Redknapp may bring the feelgood factor back to Spurs and that he’d take him back.

“I wouldn’t give it to Mason, we’ve been here before. I would give it to Harry,” The caller said.

“Harry who?” O’Hara asked.

“Harry Redknapp,” The caller replied.

“It might bring the feelgood factor mate. You kow what I’m all for Harry Redknapp, bring back Harry, bring in H, get him in,” O’Hara said.

What Harry Redknapp has said about returning to Tottenham

Redknapp coming back to Tottenham at the age of 77, would be remarkable, and that would actually make him the oldest Premier League manager in history.

However, it’s not something that Redknapp is against.

Indeed, after Antonio Conte was sacked by Spurs in 2022, Redknapp said that he would be open to a return to Tottenham.

“It’s been amazing in football recently because Neil Warnock is back in at 75 years of age at Huddersfield where he’s turned a team that couldn’t win a game into winning three games on the spin. Roy Hodgson has gone back in at Palace too,” Redknapp said.

“You need to get back in at Spurs, Harry, they need you at Spurs,” Redknapp was told.

“I’m ready for a comeback myself. I’m ready, I’d crawl back there!” Redknapp concluded.

Redknapp may be past his best at this point, but his last season at Tottenham was much better than Ange Postecoglou’s current return at Spurs.

Who knows? If Tottenham do just need a short-term solution, perhaps they could do worse than bringing in a manager who loves the club and would give everyone in north London a short-term boost.

James Maddison names who he believes is the most underrated player at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have had some great players over the years who have always been slightly underrated.

Mousa Dembele was a remarkably underrated player according to Antonio Rudiger, while Michael Dawson believes Michael Carrick was very underrated at Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Dejan Kulusevski has been described as underrated after his recent performances for Tottenham.

Speaking to JD Football, James Maddison has been asked to name who he believes to be the most underrated player at Spurs right now, and he gave an interesting answer.

Indeed, according to Maddison, the most underrated player at Tottenham is actually Cristian Romero.

The midfielder says that Romero is a top player and a lot of people have it wrong about the Argentine, stating that he believes there’s a perception around Romero that he’s an ill-disciplined hot-head.

Cristian Romero is Tottenham’s most underrated player

Maddison named who he believes to be the most underrated player at Tottenham.

According to the England international, Romero is the most underrated player at Spurs.

The £42m man has been out injured as of late, and Maddison believes he’s severely underrated.

“Underrated? Cristian Romero. Top, top centre-back,”

“For some reason in England I feel like he has the perception of being a hot head who gets a lot of red cards and isn’t disciplined, but it’s the opposite, he’s a World Cup winner and he’s a top player.

Cristian Romero’s disciplinary record

Maddison says that Romero’s reputation as a hot head is underserved, but the stats say otherwise.

Indeed, while Romero is a quality player, as Maddison says, he does also have that mean streak to him.

Romero’s disciplinary record since joining Tottenham isn’t the best to say the least.

Romero is averaging a red card every 28 games for Tottenham.

For some context, Patrick Vieira is the joint-most red-carded player in Premier League history and he averaged a red card every 38 games or so.

Romero is a top player, but there’s no point having a top player when he can’t stay on the pitch.

The Argentine does have a discipline problem and as good of a footballer as Romero is, these issues will cause Tottenham problems in the long run.

Kevin Danso shares what he honestly thinks about Tottenham after League Cup loss at Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur have been knocked out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage as Liverpool made light work of Spurs at Anfield on Thursday night.

Spurs went to Anfield holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg and the expectation was that they’d put up a fight in trying to get over the line.

However, Tottenham ended up losing 4-0 on the night as an inspired Liverpool cruised into the League Cup final at Spurs’ expense.

The game also saw two debuts for Spurs as Kevin Danso started the match and fellow winter signing Mathys Tel came off the bench.

The day after the match, Danso sent a heartfelt message to the Tottenham fanbase as he shared his honest verdict on the current Spurs team.

Kevin Danso ‘truly’ believes in Tottenham

Danso, taking to Instagram, said he was proud to have worn the Tottenham shirt for the first time on Thursday night.

And though he acknowledged that Spurs lost to a strong side, he said he fully believes in the team and what’s to come from the Lilywhites.

“Yesterday marked my debut for Tottenham Hotspur in the cup,” began Danso.

“And though we fell short against a strong side, I couldn’t be prouder to have worn this shirt for the first time.

“The loss stings, but I truly believe in this team and our journey ahead. I want to thank everyone at the club, and every single fan for the support!”

“Onwards and upwards. COYS.”

Tel also took to Instagram after the game with a message for Tottenham fans, with the caption: “Head up!”

How Danso fared in Tottenham debut

Danso did well on his Spurs debut as he looked to carry the ball out of defence whenever possible and blocking numerous efforts.

Danso blocked three efforts, weighed in with two tackles, and made three clearances.

He also won all three of his ground duels and one of his three aerial duels, and no Liverpool player managed to dribble past him.

All in all, Danso looks like an inspired signing and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to fare for Spurs.

Tottenham’s next match is on Sunday when they head to Aston Villa for their FA Cup fourth-round tie, which kicks off at 5:35pm GMT.

What Bayern Munich are saying about Mathys Tel after he joined Tottenham on loan

Tottenham had a very busy end to the winter transfer window.

Indeed, Spurs were making plenty of moves towards the end of January.

Kevin Danso arrived from RC Lens towards the end of the window, while Tottenham made a bid for Marc Guehi late in the day too.

Tottenham also wanted Fikayo Tomori towards the end of the window.

However, the most notable arrival at Spurs late in the transfer window was Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich,.

Tel made a dramatic U-turn late in the day as he joined Tottenham on loan on deadline day.

Tel had initially rejected Tottenham, but he decided to move at the eleventh hour.

However, Bayern Munich didn’t get the deal they wanted here.

Indeed, according to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Bayern initially wanted to sell Tel in January, and they pushed for an obligation to buy clause to be inserted into this loan deal, but, for one reason or another, that didn’t happen.

Bayern Munich wanted to sell Mathys Tel

Castles shared what he knows about Tel after he joined Tottenham on loan.

According to the journalist, Bayern Munich actually wanted to sell the striker in January, but they had to settle for a loan.

“Then the other interesting thing they did was Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich and this is an interesting move in a number of ways because Manchester United inquired for the player, guidance I have from Manchester United is that the the loan fee that Bayern Munich were asking was so high that they didn’t take that to the point of discussing what an option to buy would be,” Castle said.

“Tel initially said no to Tottenham if you buy Ange Postecoglou’s explanation of what happened. It was because he thought very carefully about the move and was very ambitious and wanted to know exactly it was the right club for him and he has no doubts that Tel wanted to be there.

“What I’m hearing from the Bayern end is that they actually wanted to sell the player. They wanted to put an obligation to buy clause in the deal of 60 million euros. But in the end, it became an option to buy because the player insisted that he wanted the decision at the end of the season as to whether Tottenham was the right place for him to be.”

How Bayern Munich now feel about Mathys Tel’s loan move

Not only did Bayern Munich want to sell Tel in the January transfer window, they’re also disappointed that a deal couldn’t be done to sell the attacker.

Indeed, according to Christian Falk, writing on The Daily Briefing, Bayern are disappointed by the fact they weren’t able to shift the Frenchman permanently.

“Bayern would have liked to have sold Mathys Tel in the January transfer window. In fact, they were very disappointed that, at the last moment, Tel said, ‘No’ to a permanent move to Tottenham,” Falk wrote.

However, Tottenham did negotiate an option to buy Tel in this loan deal, so a permanent move may not be too far away.

Tel will sign a six-year deal at Tottenham if he does end up staying at Spurs, but whether or not that deal does go through in the summer remains to be seen.

Tel made his debut against Liverpool on Thursday, and he’ll be hoping to build on his first outing for his new club.
