Tottenham fans fume at what ’embarrassing’ Spurs have now arranged to happen on same day as ENIC protest

Tottenham fans made themselves heard loud and clear during the 5-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.

Spurs fans chanted against Daniel Levy – once again – amid growing concerns over the direction in which the football club is heading.

A statement from Tottenham fans revealed that there is “dissatisfaction with the club’s current direction in footballing matters” – amid a time where a large focus is being placed on commercial opportunities.

For instance, there is now a Go-Kart track underneath the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and concerts regularly being held too, all while Spurs search for a first trophy since 2008.

Now, anger from Tottenham fans has reached a new level after Spurs made an official club announcement.

Tottenham fans furious with Netflix partnership

The timing of this announcement is absolutely terrible given the context.

Earlier on Tuesday, Tottenham announced a new partnership with Netflix to “support the launch of the upcoming second season of Squid Game” – the exact kind of commercial antic Spurs fans are growing tired of in N17.

Within Tottenham’s announcement, it states: “This will include experiential activity for fans, with the infamous Squid Game guards roaming the stadium in their pink hooded jumpsuits for photo opportunities and a giant blimp of the Young-hee doll – featured in the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ game – appearing outside the stadium pre-match.”

Crucially, this gimmick comes on the same day Tottenham fans are planning to protest against ENIC, with Spurs also scheduling the Squid Game activities for the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday 22nd December.

One Tottenham supporter summed up the mood quite nicely, simply writing “you are joking” on X (previously known as Twitter) – the timing of this Squid Game partnership is utterly comical, in truth.

A second Spurs fans wrote that this news gives supporters “even more reason to protest” against ENIC – who have just one League Cup to show for their 24 years as owners.

A third Spurs fan wrote: “Thank God I sold my tickets to these matches so I don’t have to experience this insufferable nonsense… “but it’s more money for the football club” before securing another Championship player and raising ticket prices in the summer.”

Furthermore, a fourth Tottenham supporter did not exactly criticise the Netflix partnership, but bemoaned the fact commercial work does not seem to align with what fans see on the pitch, posting: “If only the focus on the field was as good as that off it.”

Another echoed our earlier sentiment, writing: “Timing of this is an absolute howler.”

Last but not least, a sixth Tottenham fan wrote: “Less and less about the football. Embarrassing.”

What Jamie Carragher said about ENIC in 2018

Tottenham never seem to kick on as a football club, often doing just enough to stay involved in the battle for UEFA Champions League qualification, something Jamie Carragher bemoaned about ENIC six years ago.

Speaking on Sky Sports in 2018, the man from Bootle said: “Tottenham didn’t recruit in the summer and the team we’re looking at now, I feel as if that was the team I was watching two years ago, which was brilliant, almost won the title. You stand still, you fall behind.

“(Liverpool) are trying to win the league, I think Tottenham are happy with top four and it’s just like, got the money for the top four, that’ll pay for the stadium, pay for this – it’ll mean we don’t have to spend much.

“We don’t need to sign anyone in the summer because we’ve got this good squad with new contracts.”

Heung-min Son says there is something very special he would trade for Tottenham to win a trophy

Heung-min Son is desperate for Tottenham Hotspur to win a trophy and says there is something very special he would trade to lift silverware in North London.

Tottenham take on Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday presenting the Lilywhites with an excellent shot at winning a trophy. Son really impressed against Southampton and he will need to continue that form into the cup tie with United.

Son is now in his tenth season with the North London club but he is desperate to make this the campaign when the club’s 16-year wait for a trophy comes to an end.

Heung-min Son would trade Tottenham assist record for trophy

Heung-min Son became the Tottenham with the most Premier League assists as he surpassed Darren Anderton’s record of 67. The forward set up two goals against Southampton and also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

However, the Tottenham captain insists he would trade all his goals and assists for the club in exchange for a trophy. Son admitted his pride for breaking the Spurs assist record but he is hungry to achieve more at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son told Tottenham Hotspur: “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved for this club but I’m still hungry, I still want to always improve. If I could change one thing for a trophy it would definitely be this. I think everybody deserves this, the club deserve it, the fans deserve it, so we are working on it.

“Let’s be together at the moment, it’s not important to talk about individual stuff, I’m very proud of course think everybody has to work towards one aim.”

The forward’s contract situation remains up in the air and he could have just one more season left in North London. Tottenham plan to trigger the one-year extension option in Son’s current deal but talks over a new contract are not taking place, at this stage.

Is Heung-min Son getting back to his best after recording-break display vs Southampton?

Despite playing just 45 minutes against Southampton, Son managed to get three goal contributions with two assists and one goal. The winger netted Tottenham’s second before setting up James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr.

The 32-year-old hasn’t been at his best this term for Spurs, but at St Mary’s, he showed strong signs of gradually getting back to his best.

Tottenham expected to open talks to sign 6ft 5inch Brazilian player who’s available for just £8.2m

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways, but they still need some help in the January transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have had a mixed season so far. Spurs have shown they are capable of blowing teams away, but they have suffered a few frustrating defeats as well.

The 5-0 victory over Southampton was great for Tottenham fans, but it was just their second win in their last nine games. That’s a terrible record.

Tottenham are expected to be active in the January transfer window, and they have now been linked with a move to sign a highly-rated Brazilian.

Tottenham expected to open talks to sign John Victor of Botafogo

Tottenham could do with reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch.

Injuries have really affected their defence and wide areas, while their midfield is in need of consistent performers as well.

Tottenham are likely to address at least one of the above positions if not all of them, but if a report is to be believed, they are eyeing a move to sign a new goalkeeper as well.

Guglielmo Vicario has been out injured since after the Manchester City game. Fraser Forster has done a great job in goal, but he’s 36 and out of contract in the summer. That’s probably why Spurs are in the market for a new goalkeeper.

CaughtOffside claim that Tottenham are expected to open talks to sign Botafogo’s John Victor, who has been attracting interest from big clubs recently.

The report claims that Manchester United are also eyeing a move to sign the 6ft 5in tall Brazilian, as are Turkish giants Galatasaray.

It has further been revealed that Victor will be available for as little as €9-10 million (£7.4-8.2m) in the January transfer window, which is very affordable for Spurs.

When Tottenham think Vicario could return from his injury

Vicario came under criticism in the first few months of the season due to his weakness in set-pieces. He made a few mistakes that cost Spurs.

However, the Italian is their number one, and we’re sure Postecoglou can’t wait to get him back.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey told The Spurs News: “At best Tottenham are looking at February. at worst March/April.

“It depends on the rehab but I think they are hoping for February – they won’t put pressure on it.”

If Vicario does come back in February, Tottenham may not need a new goalkeeper for this season. However, with other clubs eyeing a move for Victor, it would be wise for Spurs to wrap up a deal for the Brazilian as soon as possible.

President claims Tottenham are willing to sell £60m player to him in January after making transfer enquiry

Tottenham could be busy in the upcoming January transfer window.

Despite Sunday’s resounding 5-0 win at Southampton, there is still room for improvement at Spurs, who have not won consecutive games in the Premier League since September, and were on a run of five matches without victory in all competitions before hammering the Saints.

Ange Postecoglou was critical of Timo Werner last week – sparking whispers that the German loanee could return to parent side RB Leipzig in January – while a new central defender would be welcome in N17 amid persistent injuries to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

However – putting Werner aside for a moment – another Tottenham forward could depart north London this winter in Richarlison.

Fluminense make Richarlison enquiry public

Mario Bittencourt – President of Fluminense – has been speaking about his desire to sign the Tottenham No.9 in January, and interestingly revealed that Spurs did not slam the door in his face after the question was asked.

Globo Esporte quote him as saying: “Tottenham responded that they are open to the offer, but that they are not currently interested in getting rid of the player, but they are willing to listen. We are also talking to the player to see if he is interested in returning. What is certain is that we have expressed formal interest in Richarlison.

“We know how difficult it will be to bring him, but we believe that he may want to be close to the Brazilian national team, to return home, to the club where he stood out. I have a close relationship with him. We have drawn up an initial document with the English club, without an offer yet, but asking if they would like to negotiate.”

The Brazil international made his name at Fluminense following a move from America Mineiro back in 2016 – scoring 19 goals in 67 appearances for the Brazilian giants before sealing a £11.5m move to Watford.

Postecoglou recently spoke quite openly about Richarlison – admitting that the South American’s inability to stay fit has been “frustrating” but he sees the “potential” in him nonetheless.

Crucially – however – the Australian stressed that attacking reinforcements are needed at Tottenham to add to the Brazilian, rather than to replace him, suggesting Fluminense may struggle to sign the forward.

Postecoglou said: “With Richy it has been frustrating, because I see the potential in him and, to be fair, when he’s been fit he’s always made an impact, for me anyway. I think back to the start of last year and when he came back into the team during the year, he went on a scoring run.

“Even the little games he’s played this year, he’s made an impact. So, you know, that’s what you kind of hold on to, but there’s no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows.”

Ange Postecoglou had lost faith in £40m Tottenham star – now he’s among the likes of Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak

Tottenham Hotspur emphatically ended a run of six games without a win as they thrashed Southampton 5-0 with one of their key players impressing Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham scored five goals in the first half for the first time in a Premier League match as they ran riot at St Mary’s. Postecoglou’s team took their foot off the gas in the second half having found themselves four goals to good within the first 25 minutes

With two huge games approaching in Manchester United and Liverpool, the Australian manager will be delighted to see one of his key players starting to shine again just at the right moment.

James Maddison takes goal tally level with Ollie Watkins and Alexander Isak

James Maddison produced one of his best displays of the season for Tottenham as he netted a brace in their 5-0 win over Southampton. There is certainly the case that Russell Martin’s side were just too easy to play against, but the 28-year-old just looked like a man on a mission.

Maddison has been strongly criticised this campaign and looked to have lost his place in the Spurs team. However, Postecoglou will be unable to overlook him when picking his team for the Carabao Cup tie with Manchester United on Thursday.

Despite everything said about him, the midfielder has been quietly putting together a strong season in terms of goal involvements. Maddison has 12 goals and assists in all competitions which is more than Bruno Fernandes and Martin Odegaard.

Meanwhile, the £40M ace has taken his Premier League goal tally to seven in 13 starts, moving him level with the likes of Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins. These are numbers that cannot be ignored and show just how important he can be for Tottenham’s season. If Postecoglou stands any chance of getting Spurs back into the top four, Maddison will be key.

What Ange Postecoglou said about James Maddison vs Southampton

Postecoglou was delighted with Heung-min Son and Maddison for the way in which they stood up when Tottenham really needed them. Son became Tottenham’s player with the most assists in the Premier League as he came away from the South Coast with a goal and two assists.

Postceoglou told the media: “They were brilliant. I think they sensed they needed to tonight. We are just spread so thin that we’re asking young players and players who haven’t played a lot and others who have been playing all the time to go out there and still try to play to our identity, play the football we want to.

“I thought they both were the catalyst for that tonight, with both the football but also their mindset just going out there.”

Yang Min-Hyeok tells Tottenham fans exactly what they can expect from him when he joins in January

Yang Min-Hyeok has sent a clear message to Tottenham Hotspur supporters as to what they can expect from him.

Yang will join Tottenham on January 1 having been signed for £3 million last summer and sent back on loan to Gangwon FC. Following the conclusion of the K-League season, the winger is now making his way to London to prepare for life in the English capital.

The 18-year-old has proved himself to be a massive prospect in the Korean top division and now Ange Postecoglou will be hoping he can make an immediate impact on his squad.

Yang Min-Hyeok ready to make an instant impact at Tottenham

Yang Min-Hyeok claims that he is aiming to hit the ground running at Tottenham this season. The teenager says he hasn’t set any specific targets but he wants to contribute to the team with goals and assists. “My goal is to complete the remainder of the season without injuries, participate in matches, and contribute to the team with goals or assists. I haven’t set specific personal goals yet,” Yang told the media.

The 18-year-old has revealed that he feels ready to contribute as soon as possible and is currently at 80 to 90 percent fitness having just finished the season with Gangwon FC. Tottenham believe they have got a bargain in Yang and if he can play his part this term that would be a major boost for Postceoglou’s squad.

He added: “Personally, I feel ready, and I’ll work even harder to show my best performance. I hope fans will continue to cheer for me. While I haven’t shown much yet, I’ll do my best, and I’m excited for this new chapter at Tottenham. I look forward to learning from senior players there and working hard to contribute to the team.”

Yang Min-Hyeok on his best attributes

Yang has also revealed that his speed and agility are two of his best attributes. Tottenham’s new attacker is a rather diminutive figure standing at just five feet six inches but this makes him very nimble and tricky to catch.

Spurs already have tricky two wingers in Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert, but with both players currently out they have been left with Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski, none of whom are known for their speed out wide. The 18-year-old’s willingness to run at defenders will be a welcomed attribute to Postecoglou’s squad.

Yang stated: “I consider myself a bit smaller and more agile, so I feel confident in my quick bursts of speed.”

Lucas Bergvall certainly didn’t look out of place in his first Premier League start for Tottenham Hotspur in their 5-0 win over Southampton.

Bergvall joined Djed Spence in making his full league debut for Tottenham, a chance that both players took full advantage of.

Before a ball was kicked in Spurs’ victory, Bergvall could actually be seen on the St Mary’s pitch doing special individual duels with Mile Jedinak and Nick Montgomery in the warm-up.

Alongside Archie Gray, Tottenham are evidently investing time and energy into their young players, as well as affording them first team chances.

And whilst Spurs’ season as a whole has still disappointed, there’s still obvious reasons to be optimistic moving forward.

Lucas Bergvall praises James Maddison and two other Tottenham stars

Following Bergvall’s performance and Tottenham’s win, the 18-year-old spoke to Spurs Play shortly after full-time.

The midfielder was very proud to make his full Premier League debut, explaining what he’s been learning every day in N17.

And then the Sweden international also took the chance to praise all three of Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, who he labelled as ‘unbelievable’ in the 5-0 rout of Southampton.

Bergvall said: “It’s a big difference for me, coming from the Swedish league. It’s a big difference when you are 18 years old. I am learning every day.

“Trying to train to get better, to get better confidence and get better physically. Learning from the best. You saw Sonny, Madders, Deki today. Unbelievable players.”

Tottenham had four teenagers on the pitch during 5-0 win over Southampton

In addition to Bergvall, Tottenham had three other teenagers on the pitch at the same time against Southampton, which is the first time that’s happened in the Premier League this season.

Gray (18) started alongside Bergvall and then both Alfie Dorrington (19) and Will Lankshear (19) got the chance to show all of the excellent work happening at Spurs’ academy.

Of course, the club also have Mikey Moore (17) ready to become a star for Tottenham too, even if he is injured right now.

A brilliant evening and result for Tottenham, who will take a lot of confidence into some tough games this week.

Heung-min Son seemed like a man possessed during Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-0 victory against Southampton as he scored once and provided two assists.

Son reached a Premier League record by overtaking Darren Anderton to become Spurs’ highest-ever assister (68) in the competition.

Son was frustrated after Spurs lost to Bournemouth and was spotted telling his teammates to applaud the supporters after their 1-0 defeat and since then, they have lost 4-3 to Chelsea and drawn 1-1 to Rangers.

Naturally, the 32-year-old would have been frustrated after Tottenham’s recent string of results.

Being the brilliant captain he is, Heung-min Son led from the front and put in an excellent performance against Southampton.

After the contest, the former Bayer Leverkusen winger reserved special praise for several of his Tottenham teammates.

Heung-min Son hails Tottenham stars

The South Korean legend made the point that often, Spurs’ attacking stalwarts such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski often grab the headlines while speaking to SPURSPLAY.

The Lilywhites icon’s point rang true, with Joe Cole singing Maddison’s praises for making “Spurs tick.”

Son lauded the likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Djed Spence, Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin, Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie after Tottenham’s emphatic win against Southampton.

“For me, you always mention Madders [James Maddison] or Deki [Dejan Kulusevski] who all scored but for me, I think we should always mention who is always behind [them] like Pape [Matar Sarr], Lucas [Bergvall] and Archie [Gray], Radu [Dragusin], Djed [Spence], even Destiny [Udogie] before he came off.”

“So, I think those kinds of situations is very, very helpful and is very good for me to see young lads take responsibility like this, as a captain of this club, makes my job really easy so I’m really proud of the young boys and its well-deserved.”

Maddison lauded Spence after Tottenham’s win over Southampton as well, which goes to show that the leaders of the side went out of their way to recognise the brilliance of their teammates who go under the radar.

Tottenham made Premier League history against Southampton

Tottenham made Premier League history against Southampton by scoring five goals in the first-half for the first time in the competition; signalling how dominant they were on Sunday.

Another feat that Ange Postecoglou’s side accomplished was that they had never managed to score four goals as early as 25 minutes before in any other league fixture in the past.

The visitors well and truly feasted upon the hosts’ vulnerabilities at St. Mary’s.

Tottenham supporters will be expecting many more such performances, albeit not by the exact same scoreline looking ahead.

Big names in Spurs’ dressing room like Son will have to step up.

Djed Spence marked his first Premier League start with an assist inside a minute and an impressive display in Tottenham’s emphatic win over Southampton.

Having been made to wait over two years, Spence was finally handed his first start in the top flight by Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham’s injury crisis forced Postecoglou’s hand to turn to the 24-year-old and he grabbed the opportunity with a strong showing in the club’s 5-0 win.

Following the victory on the South Coast, the defender sent a clear message to Postecoglou on social media and the club’s supporters will love what he had to say.

Djed Spence’s Instagram message after Tottenham’s 5-0 win

Djed Spence has made it clear that he wants more opportunities at Tottenham after playing a key role in their 5-0 win at Southampton. 881 days on from his £20 million deal signing from Nottingham Forest, Postecoglou finally started him in the league.

Tottenham fans loved Spence’s display in the win as he even managed to grab an assist. The former Nottingham Forest man set up James Maddison for the Lilywhites’ opening goal at St Mary’s with a lovely outside-the-foot pass after just 36 seconds.

Spence wrote on his Instagram account: “HUNGRY FOR MORE”, and his display on the South Coast may have just earned him more minutes for Tottenham. Destiny Udogie was forced off with a minor injury and with Spurs set to face Manchester United on Thursday Spence could be in line to start back-to-back matches.

Tottenham players react to Djed Spence vs Southampton

Spence certainly appears to be a popular character in the dressing room as his teammates flooded his Instagram comments. Lucas Bergvall, Udgoie, James Maddison, Dane Scarlett, Archie Gray and Dominic Solanke were among the players who sent him messages after the game.

Following a tricky two years at Spurs, which has included three loan spells and two different managers, Spence will now be hoping to finally kick start his career at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

James Maddison shares what he told Djed Spence before Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Southampton

Given the jekyll and hyde nature of Tottenham Hotspur this season, fans travelling down to Southampton from N17 were fortunate to be treated to one of the club’s thrilling away performances this time around.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side simply proved far too good for Southampton, something that was immediately apparent in the first minute.

James Maddison relished his role playing back as the number 10, a player who has already tasted a 9-0 victory at St Mary’s with Leicester City in the past.

Spurs showed some humility in the second half on this occasion, content to protect their five goal lead and return to north London unscathed.

James Maddison says Djed Spence deserves ‘big credit’ for Southampton display

Of course, Maddison wasn’t the only excellent performer in a Tottenham shirt – Djed Spence also thrived in a rare opportunity.

Postecoglou has been hesitant to involve the 24-year-old full-back this season, failing to include him in his Europa League squad for example.

But Spence was brilliant on both sides of Spurs’ defence in the win, providing the initial assist for Maddison to get the scoring going.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Maddison gave ‘credit’ to Spence and shared what he had told the forgotten defender just before kick off.

Maddison said: “He’s been patient and he’s a great lad. He is a laidback character and I don’t think he needed too much of a pep talk.

“But I told him before the game to go out and do what he does best. It was a great pass from him and big credit to Djed for that.”

Djed Spence thrives in 5-0 Southampton rout

Tottenham fans were delighted with Spence, although they were frustrated towards Postecoglou in equal measure following his performance.

Many of the club’s supporters simply can’t understand why Postecoglou hasn’t been willing to use the full-back more, especially when Pedro Porro’s form has often been indifferent.

Perhaps Spence will now be handed more chances as a result, but there’s reason to believe that Postecoglou may not count on the defender long-term.

Postecoglou spoke about Spence after the win, and whilst he praised the former Middlesbrough player, he didn’t exactly get carried away.

Either way, with Spurs’ defensive injuries, it’s only a positive to have one more exciting talent pushing for minutes in N17.
