Ange Postecoglou could try and sign £37m star if Pedro Porro leaves Tottenham for Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro’s future is up in the air.

Spurs have a very good team when everybody’s fit. Yes, they’re not ready to challenge for the big trophies yet, but if they can keep everyone together and add a few more quality players, they could get there.

However, when massive clubs that always win trophies are interested in one of your players, things get complicated. That’s exactly what’s happening at Tottenham.

Real Madrid are interested in signing Porro in 2025. Spurs are concerned and are even looking at potential replacements if he decides to go.

Tottenham eye move for Lutsharel Geertruida as Pedro Porro’s replacement

Porro has become one of Tottenham’s most important players under Ange Postecoglou.

The Spaniard had a difficult start to his career at Spurs. He came under a ton of criticism in his first few months at the club.

However, his performances have gone up a level since the start of the 2023/24 season, and that’s probably why Real Madrid want to sign Porro in one of the next two windows.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey has revealed that Porro is really keen on a move to Real Madrid in 2025. Now, there’s an update on who could potentially replace him.

CaughtOffside claim that Tottenham have a ‘concrete interest’ in RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida and view him as an option to replace Porro.

The player only joined Leipzig in the summer of 2024, but it has been claimed that he has expressed an interest in moving to the Premier League.

That, according to the outlet, could bring his price down and make him available for a fee between £33 million and £37 million (€40-45m).

How much Daniel Levy would demand from Real Madrid for Porro

Tottenham initially signed Porro on loan for £5 million before making that move permanent for another £39 million, taking the total expenditure to £44 million.

That is a lot of money for a full-back, but Porro’s performances over the last year have, to a certain extent, justified that fee.

Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, and Daniel Levy knows how to make them pay big money when they come calling – look at what he did with Gareth Bale.

Now, reports have revealed that Levy and Tottenham will demand around £70 million for Porro if Real Madrid make their move for him in 2025.

It remains to be seen whether the Galacticos will agree to pay such a high fee for the Spaniard.

Johan Lange sends Tottenham scouts to watch ‘electric’ forward who can be signed for just £9m

Plans are underway at Tottenham Hotspur for the January transfer window.

Spurs have had a tricky start to the season. They have produced a few incredible performances but have also suffered some frustrating defeats.

Ange Postecoglou is doing his best to take Tottenham to the top, but injuries have not helped him. He has had to do without a number of players since the start of the campaign, and that has cost his side.

The January transfer window is not too far away, and Johan Lange has a few names on his shortlist as he looks to strengthen Spurs’ squad.

Johan Lange has sent Tottenham scouts to watch Raul Moro

Tottenham currently have as many as six players unavailable due to injury.

Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Mikey Moore have all been sidelined.

At the moment, Postecoglou only has Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner as options out wide. Dejan Kulusevski mostly plays through the middle these days.

A new wide player would help if they can get one in January, and Lange seems to have identified a very talented young winger who currently plays in Spain.

Tottenham are interested in Raul Moro of Real Valladolid.

GiveMeSport reveal that ‘Lange has been tasking members of the recruitment department with embarking on scouting missions to run the rule over Moro’.

The report claims that the 21-year-old will be available for as little as £9 million in the January transfer window. That’s a tiny amount for Tottenham.

However, Spurs face competition from Liverpool, who are also said to be in the race to sign the Real Valladolid forward.

What Raul Moro would bring to Tottenham

For those who don’t know who Moro is, he is a 21-year-old winger who plays for Real Valladolid.

The Spanish forward predominantly plays on the left wing, but he is more than capable of playing on the opposite side as well.

Moro possesses ‘electric’ pace and he is a brilliant dribbler. He is never afraid to take players on and has caught the eye almost every time he has played.

The 21-year-old would fit into Postecoglou’s system perfectly. His runs with the ball down the left flank are very dangerous and he has shown great ability to find a teammate inside the box from that position.

Players like Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson will love playing with him, and at just £9 million, we think he is a no-brainer for Spurs.

What injured Wilson Odobert was seen doing after Tottenham’s Europa League draw vs Roma

Tottenham Hotspur’s draw against AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night ended in huge disappointment for the Lilywhites.

Ange Postecoglou must have thought his side were set to put three points on the board in the European table before Mats Hummels scored a late equaliser.

The late goal did put a bit of a dent in Tottenham’s Europa League campaign with the north London side now dropping out of the top eight.

Tottenham did come into the game with some considerable injury issues following Guglielmo Vicario’s ankle surgery earlier in the week.

But it is not just the Italy international who was missing with Cristian Romero and Mikey Moore also injured.

One of their other injury issues has now been spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the draw on Thursday night.

Wilson Odobert spotted in crutches after Tottenham draw

After only signing in the summer, Wilson Odobert’s minutes have been extremely limited in north London.

Odobert suffered an injury setback last month and it was described by Postecoglou as a ‘serious one’ during one of his press conferences.

The severity of that was seen by the fans in attendance on Thursday night who spotted the Frenchman departing the dugout after the game on crutches.

One fan captured the Spurs players walking down the tunnel following the game with Odobert seen hobbling on his crutches with a significant brace around his right leg.

The injury setback comes as a real blow after Postecoglou praised Odobert during Tottenham training earlier in the campaign.

What Tottenham said about Odobert’s injury

Just like Vicario, Odobert has undergone surgery this month with the winger suffering from a hamstring issue.

After signing from Burnley over the summer, Odobert had only been able to rack up five appearances for Spurs where he was waiting to provide his first goal contribution.

‘The 19-year-old will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team to determine when he can return to training,’ read the club’s statement earlier in the month.

James Maddison praised Odobert earlier in the season but it now looks as if it is going to be a long period of time until the pair play together.

The injuries are hitting Spurs hard with Moore and Odobert marking considerable absentees on the left wing.

Juventus looking at Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea defenders as they eye January signing

Italian giants Juventus are scouring the Premier League for a potential January signing with Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea all having a player on their wishlist.

While it’s normally the English clubs going on the offensive in January, this time, it seems like the Serie A giants are going to be active as well.

The Turin based club are looking to improve their squad if they can in the winter window and according to TuttoSport, would ideally like to sign Benfica star, Antonio Silva, if possible.

However, Silva is a man in-demand and is wanted by a number of top clubs around Europe.

And because of that, Juventus are turning their attentions to the Premier League in case they need a plan B.

Juventus looking at Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin with Chelsea and Arsenal outcasts on radar

According to the report from TuttoSport, Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin is very much being considered as an option for Juventus in January.

Dragusin has been unable to secure regular minutes since his £26m move to Spurs in the summer and with a vocal agent, a move away has been mentioned more than once.

However, with Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou keen to keep Dragusin, Juventus are also eyeing up two other Premier League players as well.

One of those is Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, who like Dragusin, has failed to cement himself in the team at The Emirates.

As well as Kiwior, Juventus are also looking at Chelsea defender, Ben Chilwell.

Juventus are open to signing Chilwell after witnessing him drop down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.

Juventus’ Premier League target is obvious

It would be a huge surprise to see Spurs sell a player they paid £26m for just months into his time at the club.

Right now, it makes little sense and especially in mid-season, when replacing such players is even harder.

However, with Kiwior and Chilwell, there might well be more of a chance for Juve.

Even still, it’s unlikely Mikel Arteta will want to lose a player in January with Arsenal going for the title, which makes Chelsea’s Chilwell the most likely option.

Quite what Juventus plan to do with Chilwell given he is a left-back and the others mentioned here are central defenders, remains to be seen.

Ange Postecoglou says he’s ‘so excited’ by one Tottenham youngster who is impressing him every day

Tottenham Hotspur are showing a real lack of consistency this season but there is still plenty that is impressing their manager.

Ange Postecoglou saw his side drop two points late on in the game on Thursday evening in the Europa League against AS Roma.

Mats Hummels shared his love for Tottenham on Wednesday and scored the equaliser against them the following night.

But the competition has provided Tottenham with an opportunity to rotate their starting XI and provide some of the younger players with an opportunity.

And there is one player at Hotspur Way who is really impressing the Australian manager despite only joining over the summer.

Ange Postecoglou left excited by Archie Gray at Tottenham

Archie Gray was back in action on Thursday night for Tottenham as he started – and played the full 90 minutes – in the left-back position.

Speaking on Friday morning after the game on Thursday, Postecoglou has admitted he’s been wowed by the 18-year-old so far this season.

“There’s a real maturity at only 18. We asked him to play left-back, he has never played that position in his life but does it with a real efficiency and calmness,” said the Australian.

“I am so excited by Archie and that’s another positive for us that we have another 18-year-old who just plays and no one mentions that he is 18, they just measure his performance and, like I said, I am asking him to do different jobs.

“It would probably be more comfortable for him if he was settled in one position but he is playing football at a really high level in Europe and the Premier League. That’s going to set us up really well for the player that he is going to become.”

The praise for Gray has to be appreciated after Thursday night saw Postecoglou vent his anger at Brennan Johnson from the sideline.

Archie Gray offered solidity against AS Roma

After joining in the summer, Gray has impressed in Tottenham training despite his minutes in the side being limited.

But the youngster has struggled to earn any minutes in his natural position as a central midfielder.

And that was the case on Thursday as Gray was handed the start from left-back to provide Destiny Udogie some relief.

The lack of minutes in the starting XI has seen Gray linked with a Spurs exit in January with a number of sides showing an interest in a loan possibility.

But the comments from Postecoglou on Friday would suggest he has Gray well within his long-term plans at Spurs.

Dejan Kulusevski says Tottenham have a ‘very good goalkeeper’ who Ange Postecoglou has never picked after Guglielmo Vicario injury

Tottenham Hotspur were made to settle for a point in the Europa League against AS Roma on Thursday night.

Ange Postecoglou’s side lived dangerously having taken a 2-1 lead but the Lilywhites were unable to keep out the Italians in the dying minutes.

As a result, Tottenham have now slipped outside of the top eight in the Europa League standings which offer automatic qualification to the Round of 16.

But Spurs did go into the game with a number of significant injury issues with Cristian Romero sidelined with a foot issue.

And then there was their missing goalkeeper after Guglielmo Vicario underwent ankle surgery earlier this week.

Fraser Forster stepped in for the Italian, but Dejan Kulusevski has admitted Postecoglou has another option who has impressed him.

Dejan Kulusevski trusts Tottenham’s Brandon Austin

Forster was slammed by Tottenham fans against Roma for his role in the Italian side’s opening goal in the first half.

Speaking after the game, Kulusevski put his faith in Forster to replace Vicario but admitted he also likes what he’s seen from Brandon Austin.

“He’s really good and he made some big saves today [Thursday]. It’s great to have him and I think he’s ready to play,” Kulusevski told the media about Forster.

“And I also feel confident that we have Brandon Austin , who’s a very good goalkeeper.

“We miss Vicario because he’s a fantastic guy, but now it is time for Fraser to step up and help the team.”

Regardless of what some fans may feel, Postecoglou’s said Tottenham won’t sign a goalkeeper in January despite Vicario’s lengthy absence.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Brandon Austin

Since arriving in north London, Postecoglou is yet to use Austin in a competitive game with the goalkeeper’s only minutes coming in pre-season.

Another Spurs youngster Joshua Keeley is impressing on loan with Leyton Orient, but it looks as if opportunities in Vicario’s absence are going to be few and far between for Austin.

Postecoglou did admit the 25-year-old is improving constantly at Hotspur Way but it seems Forster has nailed down the spot between the sticks.

“Brandon (Austin) is improving all the time and Alfie (Whiteman) has been at the club for a while,” Postecoglou told the media this week.

“We’re happy with what we’ve got. I don’t think us signing a free agent now is going to help us.”

What Italy's media felt about Tottenham star Heung

Tottenham Hotspur faced AS Roma in the Europa League and were held to a 2-2 draw.

Spurs went into the game against Claudio Ranieri’s side as the favourites. Their win against Manchester City must have given them a lot of confidence, and many people expected an easy win over the Italians at home.

Heung-min Son opened the scoring for Tottenham from the penalty spot, but Roma equalised through Evan Ndicka.

Brennan Johnson gave them the lead again and that seemed like it would be enough for the win. However, Mats Hummels stepped up in the first minute of second-half stoppage time to secure a point for his side.

The Italian press have now had their say on Son’s performance on Thursday night.

Italy’s media deliver verdict on Heung-min Son after Tottenham vs AS Roma

Son has had a difficult season at Tottenham so far.

The South Korean is Spurs’ best player. On his day, he is capable of winning games on his own – he has done that on many occasions over the years.

However, the Tottenham skipper has had a couple of injury issues to deal with, and that has had an impact on his output.

Son has scored just four goals in all competitions this season in 13 games. That is very unlike him, and his performance against Roma summed up his campaign.

The 32-year-old converted his penalty brilliantly and was a threat every time he had the ball in Roma’s defensive third. But, he missed a great chance to score too.

That is the reason why he has received mixed reviews from the Italian media.

Eurosport in Italy gave Son a 7/10 rating and said: “Ready-go and he immediately scores with a perfect penalty. Delightful in practically everything he does, he even comes close to scoring a double, but Svilar tells him no.

“Half a vote less for the goal that was spectacularly missed in the first half.”

Virgilio Sport rated him 6.5/10 and wrote: “He’s not having his best season, but he’s ice-cold from the spot. And two minutes into the match, it wasn’t a given at all. The final judgment is weighed by the goal devoured by a few steps.”

Numero Diez gave him a 7/10 rating and said: “He unlocks the match with a penalty goal. He devours the chance to make it 3-1 but is a constant danger to Roma’s defence.”

Postecoglou thinks he knows why Son isn’t firing this season

Tottenham fans always expect big things from Son, and it was no different at the start of this season.

The Korean scored a brace in the second game of the campaign against Everton, and everyone expected him to go on a good goalscoring run from that point.

However, Son has scored just twice in all competitions since, which is not great at all. He is Tottenham’s best player and you would expect him to be their top scorer.

After the game against Roma, Ange Postecoglou was asked if he thinks Son is lacking confidence in front of goal. The Spurs boss disagreed.

He said, as per Football London: “I don’t know if he’s lacking confidence. Sonny’s had a disrupted year for us, so that doesn’t help. Yeah, he had some good chances tonight to get the goal and he’s getting in those areas.

“Look, he’s got the quality to take those chances and we know he’s done it consistently for almost a decade, but he’s had a disrupted season being in and out. You can see he is getting back to full fitness now, which is the main thing for us.”

Glenn Hoddle claims Tottenham have an attacker who’s really starting to remind him of Arsenal winger Raheem Sterling

Despite the late equaliser conceded, there were some positives to take in Tottenham Hotspur’s draw against Roma on Thursday.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have dropped out of the top eight in the Europa League standings following the result against Roma.

But Tottenham showed a lot of attacking threat with Brennan Johnson adding yet another goal to his tally for the campaign.

There was one heated moment on the touchline which saw Postecoglou shout at Johnson against Roma for not working hard enough.

However, Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle has showered some big praise on the Wales international following his goal in the opening 45 minutes.

Glenn Hoddle compares Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson Raheem Sterling

Hoddle recently hailed Dejan Kulusevski for his displays in the Premier League for the Lilywhites, but it was Johnson who caught his eye on Thursday.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Hoddle admitted he can see similarities in what Johnson is doing to what Arsenal’s Raheem Sterling has done.

“I have got a player who started doing that at Man City and started scoring loads of goals from those type of positions. Sterling,” said Hoddle.

“Sterling started to do that and everyone thought he’s a goalscorer now, and it wasn’t outside the box, it was all in between that six-yard box and the penalty spot and that is what Johnson is doing for Tottenham.”

Jamie O’Hara slammed Johnson as ‘frustrating’ recently as he suggested the Wales international needs to show more during the game when he’s not scoring.Tim Sher

Brennan Johnson’s showing Sterling goalscoring form

Johnson did not start on the weekend against Manchester City but was able to find the back of the net after coming on.

Starting on Thursday night, it did not take the winger long to find the back of the net with Postecoglou praising Johnson recently for his goalscoring form.

Although Sterling may now be playing for Arsenal with his best form long behind him, he was still once a solid goalscorer for Manchester City.

Tim Sherwood said Johnson vanished against Brighton in the second half and there is definitely a case for this on Thursday night.

But he has certainly mastered the art of scoring inside the area as Hoddle suggested was very similar to that of Sterling.

What Ange Postecoglou told Tottenham star Brennan Johnson after going mad at him vs AS Roma

Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 2-2 draw by AS Roma in the Europa League.

Ange Postecoglou’s side went into the game in great spirits following their 4-0 hammering of Manchester City in their previous fixture.

The fact that they were facing Roma at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium gave Spurs a further edge, but they just couldn’t get over the line.

Brennan Johnson scored for Tottenham against the Serie A side, but he also faced the wrath of Postecoglou for a mistake he made in the first half of the game.

Brennan Johnson reveals what Ange Postecoglou told him after going mad on the touchline

Postecoglou was absolutely furious with Johnson in the first half of the game between Tottenham and AS Roma on Thursday night.

The Australian is usually a calm man on the touchline, but we have seen him lose his composure on a few occasions over the last year.

Postecoglou wants his team to play in a certain way at all times, irrespective of the scoreline and the context of the game.

Spurs were leading 2-1 against Roma and instead of going forward, Johnson played a pass backwards. That infuriated Postecoglou, who went mad at him on the touchline.

After the game, the Wales international was asked about the incident.

He told TNT Sports: “Yeah, I think it’s important. Obviously, he’s such a good manager, and I think his view can be a lot better than mine sometimes.

“I think in the game it’s easy to get into your own head a little bit. At half-time, he told me a little bit of information that was definitely helpful and nothing more than that really.”

When asked what Postecoglou told him at the break, Johnson replied: “He just said keep being more positive. That’s all he needs from all of our players, trying to be positive, on the front foot and play forward.

“I think in the first half, I was definitely probably guilty of playing back too much. So, yeah, it’s something that I definitely took onboard.”

Brennan Johnson has shown huge improvement in one key area

Tottenham signed Johnson for big money in the summer of 2023.

The Welshman had his struggles in his debut campaign. He scored just five goals in all competitions despite making 38 appearances.

Johnson’s numbers have gone up significantly. He has scored nine times already this season in just 19 appearances, which is a great return for a wide player.

The big difference from last season is that Johnson is getting himself into better positions inside the box. He is easier to find in the danger area and that has put him on the end of more chances.

That is down to the work Postecoglou and the Spurs coaches have done on the training pitch – the Tottenham boss deserves a lot of praise for Johnson’s development over the last year.

Why Ange Postecoglou was ‘really upset’ with Brennan Johnson during Tottenham’s draw against Roma

Tottenham Hotspur had to settle for a point in the end against AS Roma with Mats Hummels scoring a late equaliser.

It was a typically thrilling display from Ange Postecoglou’s side who had the fans on the edge of their seats in north London.

After taking the lead early on in the game through a Heung-min Son penalty, Tottenham were pegged back Roma who did not take long to equalise.

However, Brennan Johnson added to what has been a stunning start to the season with yet another goal to his name, before Spurs conceded again in the dying minutes.

Postecoglou recently hailed Johnson after the win over West Ham ahead of the latest international break.

But it seems as if the Wales international did something on Thursday night against Roma which did not impress the Spurs manager.

How Brennan Johnson angered Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou

Johnson showed his quality with another well-taken goal which was created by the in-form Dejan Kulusevski.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Glenn Hoddle reacted as Postecoglou vented his anger at Johnson towards the end of the first half.

‘Just looking at Ange there. He is not happy with Johnson,’ said Hoddle.

‘He wanted some sort of movement at some stage in that build up and he’s really upset I have not seen him like that. Look [he’s telling him] ‘go, go. What are you doing? Run in behind!’

Ironically, Johnson hailed his relationship with Postecoglou just the other week as he admitted the Australian continuously pushes him for more.

Brennan Johnson shining under Ange Postecoglou

There may have been some question marks about Johnson following his showings in his first campaign at Spurs, but he’s certainly answering them now.

Johnson admitted he’s been working with Ryan Mason behind the scenes to improve at Hotspur Way and the results are showing.

It has still been a turbulent season for the winger after Johnson deleted his social media accounts after abuse from some fans.

But the £48m Johnson now looks like a real star in this Tottenham side despite not even making the starting XI on the weekend against Manchester City.
