Tottenham Hotspur are starting to get moving in the summer transfer window.

Mohammed Kudus is set to join Spurs in the near future, while Tottenham are also eyeing another Premier League attacker to add to their ranks.

Bryan Mbeumo was linked to Tottenham at one point, but now, Spurs are keen on Yoane Wissa, his Brentford teammate.

Of course, Thomas Frank knows Wissa well from his time at Brentford, and this is a deal that would make a lot of sense.

Wissa has been valued at £40m, so this would be another sizeable transfer.

However, according to Dean Jones, writing on the Ranks FC Ultras Patreon Page, Keith Andrews is desperate to stop Wissa from joining Tottenham.

Jones shared what he knows about Tottenham’s pursuit of Yoane Wissa.

According to the journalist, Tottenham are indeed exploring a move for Wissa, but Andrews is desperate to halt this transfer.

“Spurs are also still exploring a move for Yoane Wissa, which new Brentford boss Keith Andrews is desperate to stop,” Jones wrote.

“Between Bryan Mbeumo and Wissa, the Bees scored 39 goals last season. Losing both would leave them in danger of becoming early candidates for relegation, as Christian Norgaard also exits.”

As Jones says, if Brentford lose Wissa, Mbeumo and Norgaard in the same transfer window, they could be genuine relegation candidates.

We’ve seen this before where teams sell their star players the season before they are relegated, and Brentford are in danger of falling into a similar sort of trap here.

Leeds United suffered relegation the summer after selling both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, while Aston Villa went down just after letting both Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke leave.

Going further back, Newcastle went down after losing the likes of James Milner, Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia in the same year.

Selling star players is risky business as a mid-table team, and if you get it wrong, you can quickly plummet down the table.

Brentford need to do all they can to keep hold of Wissa.

Tottenham Hotspur are fully up and running in the summer transfer window, but North London rivals Arsenal have also been busy on the transfer front of late.

Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have joined Tottenham permanently, Kota Takai has just signed, Mohammed Kudus is closing in on a move, and talks are ongoing over Yoane Wissa.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have landed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, while talks are continuing over Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres.

Now, David Ornstein has reported that Tottenham have turned their attentions towards another Premier League player who, as it happens, is also wanted by Arsenal.

Ornstein has taken to X to report that Tottenham have set their sights on Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Just a few days ago, TBR Football relayed a report claiming Gibbs-White is among the players on Arsenal’s radar this summer.

Indeed, Gibbs-White is high on the recruitment lists of several leading clubs, but Spurs now hope to convince him to join them if a deal can be agreed with Forest.

Thomas Frank is said to be a long-term admirer of Gibbs-White, who would get the opportunity to play Champions League football whether he joins Tottenham or Arsenal.

The ‘exceptional’ midfielder with Pep Guardiola’s seal of approval

Gibbs-White has gone from strength to strength at Forest since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £44.5million deal back in 2022.

He is now considered one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and he also made his England debut in 2024, with four caps now to his name.

Plenty of footballing figures, including Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, have spoken highly of Gibbs-White in recent months.

“Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga are exceptional players,” Guardiola said earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Peter Crouch said on TNT Sports after Forest’s 7-0 win over Brighton: “He’s a modern-day player. Back in our day, players with that ability were almost luxury players.

“But the amount of work he gets through and the pressing – if you want to play a high press he can do that, if you want to sit back he’s transitional and when you win the ball he carries it and invariably picks the right pass.

“[He does] a bit of everything and he does it really well; he can get goals, create goals, he’s very clever in the way he goes down for the penalty – he won’t thank me for saying this – but he accentuates the foul, very intelligent.”

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign Mohammed Kudus, and Rafael van der Vaart will love this move from his former club.

Van der Vaart will have closely followed the forward during his time at Ajax, and the Tottenham Hotspur legend has had plenty to say about him in the past.

Tottenham have agreed a £55m deal for Kudus, with the 24-year-old expected to undergo a medical at Hotspur Way on Thursday.

Speaking back in 2023, Rafael van der Vaart revealed that Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars told him Mohammed Kudus would become an £87m player in the future.

The former Tottenham player also explained how Overmars reckoned that the Ghanaian international was the best signing he’d ever made.

There was also the feeling that the attacker hadn’t quite shown his full potential at the time, but Van der Vaart claims he has all the attributes to become a top player.

Van der Vaart told Studio Voetbal via Voetbalzone: “I first saw Kudus during a friendly. He (Marc Overmars, Ajax’s sporting director) said: ‘Raf, honestly. This is my best signing ever. This is going to be worth a hundred million.’ He believed in him.

“He hasn’t shown it yet, of course, but he hasn’t really been deployed to his full potential. We only saw what he can do at the World Cup. He actually has everything a footballer needs in his position: strength, speed… He’s the very best player Ajax has.”

Ajax sold Kudus to West Ham for £40m in what was rather an impressive coup for the Hammers at the time.

Two years on, and the North London club have now paid £15m more to bring him across the capital to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus forced through Tottenham move

As TBR Football revealed, Kudus really wanted to join Tottenham and made a move to N17 his priority for the summer.

Bayern Munich expressed interest in Kudus, however, the player wanted to remain in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal having also shown an interest.

The Guardian now claim that Kudus handed in a transfer request, along with reporting for West Ham training late on two occasions this week.

The 24-year-old is now close to finally securing his wish of joining Spurs and the deal could be announced in the coming days.

“Hopefully not too well. I think he’s a really good manager, but the problem is I don’t think they’re in a good place based on where they finished last year.

“I look at Spurs and go the foundations and the facilities are incredible, but I think it’s time for a change and someone to come in and give it a really good go

“I’m happy for them to stay where they are, I hate Spurs and Spurs hate me, it’s really simple. It’s pure hate, I hope they stay where they are if I’m being honest.”

Tottenham Hotspur still have ‘high hopes’ for Wilson Odobert and are not giving up on him after what was a tricky debut campaign in North London, according to Tom Barclay.

Tottenham signed Odobert for £32m from Burnley last summer, and the North London club believe the 20-year-old still has plenty of time to improve.

Odobert suffered a bad hamstring injury, which sidelined him for several months, and it’s clear this impacted his performances after he returned.

Initially, Odobert showed promising signs, but he ended the 2024/25 campaign with just three goals in 21 matches for Spurs.

Barclay told his YouTube channel: “Wilson Odobert, who, along with (Mathys) Tel, has played pretty well by all accounts at the Under-21 Euros.

“He was someone who, barring that AZ Alkmaar home game where he scored his first couple of goals for Spurs, we didn’t really see the best of because of his hamstring injuries. But he’s definitely someone that they aren’t in any way giving up on and have high hopes for.”

Odobert impressed for France U-21 at the European Championships in Slovakia over the summer, and there is hope he can continue that form for the upcoming campaign.

Following the imminent arrival of Mohamed Kudus at Tottenham, Frank’s attack is nicely starting to take shape, with many impressive options.

Kudus is set to sign for Tottenham in a deal worth around £55 million, with his medical expected to take place on Thursday.

The North London club appear to have learned their lesson from last season of leaving themselves short in terms of squad depth.

Frank might need to consider selling a few, especially with TBR Football revealing that Tottenham are targeting a move for Yoane Wissa from Brentford.

The former Brentford boss wants to bring the 28-year-old with him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as an alternative option to Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have had a mixed summer so far.

The North Londoners won the Europa League in May, bringing an end to their 17-year trophy drought. However, just 16 days later, they sacked the man who helped them achieve that feat — Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs have since appointed Thomas Frank and signed Mathys Tel and Kota Takai on permanent deals. Tottenham have even agreed a fee to land Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

While speaking about where Kudus could play, O’Hara touched on Johnson and gave him credit for getting himself on the end of chances.

However, he still called the Wales international ‘one of the most frustrating’ players to watch.

He said on talkSPORT: “Brennan Johnson had a really good return last year, a really good return. He scored a lot of goals. He gets on the end of things and that is an art.

“But, I’ll tell you what, he is one of the most frustrating football players to watch. He’s so frustrating to watch, because he can, I think, give more, and he doesn’t.”

Brennan Johnson has a big problem at Spurs

Johnson should be fairly pleased with himself — not just for finishing last season as Tottenham’s top scorer but also for scoring the winner in the Europa League final.

However, despite his efforts last term, Johnson may not have a starting spot available anymore.

One of Dejan Kulusevski and Kudus will start on the right flank, while the other will battle it out for a place in midfield with James Maddison.

Son Heung-min, Tel and Wilson Odobert are available on the left flank for Frank, making it very difficult for Johnson to get into the side.

It will be interesting to see how Frank will accommodate Johnson next season, but we will be surprised if he becomes a regular starter.

One of Arsenal’s key coaches will be absolutely gutted to see a player he once raved about is set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal’s head analyst, Ben Chadwick, has previously spoken very highly about the talent who looks set to now sign for Spurs this summer.

The Lilywhites appear to have beaten off a fair amount of competition to land the superstar, and the Arsenal chief analyst won’t be surprised at the clamour to get him.

In fact, the Gunners were among the clubs that explored the possibility of doing a deal for the player, but now he will be heading to N17 instead.

As TBR Football exclusively revealed, Arsenal held talks to sign Kudus this summer, but eventually opted to look elsewhere in their pursuit of a new winger.

Kudus started his journey in Europe in Denmark, where he spent two seasons playing for FCN in the Danish Superliga.

Flemming Pedersen, the club’s technical director, has explained how in 2017, Spurs’ latest addition impressed for Nordsjaelland’s academy during a four-week camp in England.

Following a draw against Brentford B, Chadwick got in contact with Pedersen to let him know that he had a serious talent on his hands in Kudus.

Speaking to The Athletic back in 2023, Pedersen said: “There’s a lot of coaches in England who would’ve been aware of Kudus. In spring 2017, we sent our academy to England for four weeks, and we played eight games.

“We didn’t lose one match and after a draw against Brentford B, my former colleague Ben Chadwick, who is head of analysis at Arsenal, phoned me and said, ‘What a player you have on your hands’. He was talking about Kudus.”

Mohammed Kudus set to undergo Tottenham medical on Thursday

Kudus’ medical at Tottenham is booked for Thursday as the 24-year-old is set to complete his move from West Ham United.

Spurs have agreed a deal worth around £55 million with the Hammers, who were initially asking for £65 million.

As TBR Football exclusively revealed, Kudus’ move to Tottenham stalled on Tuesday evening, but Daniel Levy eventually convinced David Sullivan to accept his offer.

The North London club upped their cash bid for the winger, and with West Ham’s need to sell, a deal was struck between the two clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a new era as they get underway under their new manager, Thomas Frank.

Spurs are back in training after a few weeks off for the summer, and this is a clean slate and a fresh chance for players to impress their managers.

Manor Solomon has very much been a forgotten man at Tottenham in recent times.

The winger joined Spurs back in 2023 on a free transfer after leaving Fulham, and he was a regular under Ange Postecoglou at the start of the 2023/24 season.

In fact, Solomon earned praise for his early Tottenham performances.

However, Solomon picked up a knee injury towards the end of September 2023, and he hasn’t played for Spurs since.

The attacker spent last season on loan at Leeds United, and it’s now been 21 months since Solomon last made a senior Tottenham appearance.

However, he’s now been spotted back at Hotspur Way in Spurs’ new training video, and he may now work his way back into the Tottenham team.

Solomon has work to do if he wants to work his way back into the mix at Spurs under Thomas Frank, but he may have already laid some solid foundations with his new manager.

Indeed, Solomon has only ever played one game against Thomas Frank when he was at Brentford, but he may well have impressed the Tottenham gaffer in that game.

Solomon actually scored in a 3-2 loss vs Brentford back in 2023.

Solomon’s stats from that match were fairly solid as well.

Who knows? Perhaps Solomon could have a career revival at Tottenham under Thomas Frank. After all, he was solid at Leeds last season, hence why Leeds have been keen to bring Solomon back.

And whilst both were convinced about Kudus’ talent, the duo did raise their concerns about the West Ham star’s inconsistency at times.

Kudus’ numbers were considerably better during his first season in the Premier League, perhaps explaining why Lineker said he can be somewhat ‘hit and miss’.

Lineker said: “Kudus is very talented, a bit hit and miss, I think at times, but he may only get better.

Shearer: “I would imagine he would do under Thomas Frank at Spurs. So yeah, he could be a good signing, but you’re right, he has to do it on a more regular basis.”

Of course, Spurs’ business won’t stop at Kudus, and Tottenham are being linked with Yoane Wissa as well, one of Frank’s former stars at Brentford.

Tottenham only really have one recognised striker in Dominic Solanke, explaining why someone like Yoane Wissa would improve their squad.

And although Lineker had some doubts about Kudus, he seemed pretty certain that Wissa would be an excellent addition for Frank in north London.

Lineker said: “The interesting one that’s just broken is that Spurs are quite close to signing Wissa, and obviously that would be Thomas Frank’s preferred option, I’m sure.

“He had him at Brentford, didn’t he? I think I’d really like Wissa. I think he’s a proper goal scorer.”

An exciting summer for Spurs, and Levy will be looking to prove that the club does have serious ambitions in their new era under Frank.

TBR Football understands that Atletico Madrid have informed Cristian Romero that they feel they’ve done all they can to sign him this summer.

Diego Simeone has been obsessed with signing Romero, but at this stage, the Spanish club are set for disappointment in their pursuit of the defender.

Daniel Levy has been determined to keep Romero, and has been attempting to do so by offering him a new contract that would make him the North London club’s best-paid player.

However, Romero’s heart is set on joining Atletico, and up until this point, the World Cup winner has been rejecting these advances from the Spurs chairman.

Tottenham pleased after Atletico Madrid back away from Cristian Romero deal

Sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Tottenham Hotspur are pleased that Atletico Madrid are finally starting to back away from a deal to sign Cristian Romero.

Although the Lilywhites are not entirely convinced this is the end of the situation, with the possibility remaining that Atleti will return to the negotiating table.

As it stands, Romero is not happy with the situation, but his people are ready to rekindle contract talks with Levy if no deal is forthcoming with Atletico.

Reports from Argentina claimed that Romero told Levy: “It’s not a matter of money but of professional challenges. I love Tottenham and it will always be in my heart.”

Thomas Frank is keen to build around Romero and now faces the challenge of convincing him that staying in North London remains a strong option for him.

Levy will want to avoid a repeat of the Harry Kane situation in which Ange Postecoglou lost his best player just a few months into his job.

Cristian Romero returns to Tottenham for pre-season

Tottenham’s international stars returned for pre-season training on Wednesday to prepare for the new season.

Romero was among the group who were back for testing at Hotspur Way, and Spurs will now be eager for him to remain in N17 beyond the summer.

Frank’s first pre-season game is against Reading on July 18, before they travel to Asia at the end of the month for their tour.

Then, of course, is the big one as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the UEFA Super Cup on August 13.
