Micky van de Ven: “The fans were unbelievable, we wanted to give them something back” - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Micky van de Ven felt the fans ‘kept standing behind us’ as Arsenal eventually took the north London derby honours on Sunday.

The atmosphere crackled before kick-off and was there again at the end of the first half as Randal Kolo Muani’s fine strike levelled the score at 1-1 and something special looked on. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be as Viktor Gyokeres fired home two minutes into the second half, Eberechi Eze added his second for 3-1 and Gyokeres added the fourth in added time.

Micky, wearing the armband in Cuti Romero’s absence, told SPURSPLAY afterwards. “The fans were unbelievable today and I have to give credit to them for the full 90 minutes. I know it's also a really tough situation for them, but they kept standing behind us today.

“It was really important for us, and I think we felt it as well. We wanted to do everything to give them something back but, unfortunately, we couldn't do that today.”

Reflecting on the 90 minutes, Micky added: “It was a really tough game. I think in the first half we were going into half-time with 1-1 and I think there's a good feeling from our side. Obviously, we suffered again, didn't play really bad, but then we came out in the second half, they scored after two minutes and after that it was really tough.”

Quiz | Can you name the 51 Spurs goalscorers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

It's quiz time! Randal Kolo Muani's strike against Arsenal saw him become the 51st different Spurs player to score at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but can you name them all?

Since our 62,850-seater stadium opened in N17 in April, 2019, 51 different players have scored for us in Lilywhite at our stunning home. But can you name those goalscorers?

Well that is the challenge we're proposing to you!

To take on the challenge, click the green 'Play Quiz' button below to get started before inputting your answers in the box titled 'enter player'.

You will have 15 minutes to name as many of the 51 players as you can. To help, the amount of goals they have scored at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium plus the country they are from are listed either side of their relevant answer box.

Helpful tip: If the player you are guessing has a multiple word surname, such as 'Giovani dos Santos', just type in the final word, ie. Santos, to score the point. For players with double-barrelled surnames, such as 'Cameron Carter-Vickers', you need to write the full surname, ie. Carter-Vickers.

Best of luck!

Spurs 1-4 Arsenal, Premier League | Igor Tudor’s verdict - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Igor Tudor said he ‘saw something’ in terms of foundations to build on but took a realistic view of our 4-1 loss against Arsenal in his first game in charge on Sunday.

There were certainly signs something special could be on the cards in this latest north London derby when Randal Kolo Muani levelled Eberechi Eze’s opener within two minutes to take us into half-time level.

However, hopes of a second half to remember were quickly dashed by Viktor Gyokeres’ strike for 2-1 two minutes into the second half. Eze and Goykeres added a second each as the Gunners ran out 4-1 winners.

Speaking to us after his first taste of matchday in N17 and the NLD, Igor said: “I saw something, but there is still a lot of work to do. There are too many problems for this kind of team, so we need to keep working from tomorrow, from Tuesday, more than we did until now. At this moment, this is how it is. So, this kind of team, it’s too much at this moment to play against them.”

Asked about his first experience in the stadium, he said: “It was amazing. I feel the good energy, so that's why we are all sad. I'm sad because we couldn't do better performance. They (the fans) want it, we want it, we tried, but in this moment we are not able to do better.”

Gunners take the points

Gunners take the points - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

The north London derby ended in disappointment as Arsenal left N17 with all three points on Sunday afternoon.

Although Randal Kolo Muani scored his first Premier League goal just two minutes after Eberechi Eze’s opener for the visitors, the Gunners scored three unanswered goals in the second half – Eze on target again and Viktor Gyokeres with a brace – to wrap up the win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and repeat the 4-1 defeat they inflicted on us at the Emirates earlier in the season.

The stadium was absolutely rocking as the game got underway, even more than usual for this fixture it seemed, with so much riding on it for both teams. Arsenal made the brighter start as we moved into a low block in the opening stages, with the first chance just three minutes in when Gyokeres’ header hit Radu Dragusin in front of goal and the Romania international cleared his lines.

Shortly after, Guglielmo Vicario had to race off his line to head away from Bukayo Saka, with Leandro Trossard’s subsequent ball forwards needing to be stopped on the line by Dragusin. Gyokeres then fizzed just wide with a right-foot curler in seven minutes as we continued to weather the early storm.

Arsenal’s first corner on 17 minutes almost broke the deadlock as Gyokeres won the back-post header only for William Saliba to glance wide from eight yards out, while they did open the scoring shortly after the half hour mark as the game exploded into life. Saka was extremely lucky to get past Pape Matar Sarr down near the goal-line but once he was free, his low cut-back bounced up for Eze to volley home past Vicario.

The visitors’ joy was short-lived though as we responded almost immediately, Declan Rice dispossessed by Kolo Muani deep in Arsenal territory and the France international striker advanced into the box before sliding a low shot under David Raya to spark wild celebrations inside the stadium.

Back came the Gunners though and they almost regained the lead on 37 minutes when Saka latched onto a long pass from Piero Hincapie only for Vicario to stand tall to deny him, a huge save. And four minutes later, Trossard’s low angled drive flicked off the boot of Yves Bissouma as it drifted inches past the far post. We went through eight minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first half after an early issue with the communications set-up for the officiating team but went into the break all square and with everything to play for.

We were quickly on the front foot after the break, just 23 seconds gone when Xavi Simons forced Raya into a fine saving diving to his right. But just a minute later, the visitors were ahead after Jurrien Timber drilled a pass in to the feet of Gyokeres who took a touch and hit a fierce 20-yard drive past Vicario. We had the ball in the net in the 52nd minute, Kolo Muani converting Conor Gallagher’s cross but his slight push on Gabriel was deemed enough of an offence to rule the goal out. It was end-to-end at that stage, with Vicario making an excellent save to deny Saka before Arsenal added a third when Saka’s initial effort was blocked by Micky van de Ven, the loose ball hitting Joao Palhinha and falling perfectly for Eze to convert for 3-1 with 61 minutes gone.

That was a real blow which took the wind out of our sails and for the next 25 minutes, we struggled to make much headway in attacking areas. We brought on Dominic Solanke, the returning Richarlison and Mathys Tel to try to find a way to goal, but it wasn’t until the 84th minute before a big chance came our way. Djed Spence hit a low cross in from the right, Richarlison’s flick went through the legs of Raya but the Arsenal goalkeeper somehow got back to claw the ball off the goal-line and away to safety. Instead, the last word went to the visitors. Spence lost the ball mid-way inside our half and it was played quickly up to Gyokeres, who held off Archie Gray and beat Vicario from 10 yards out.

Another goal and assist for Akhamrich - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

On-loan Yusuf Akhamrich once again starred for Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon, notching a goal and assist to help his side to a 3-1 home win over Grimsby Town in League Two.

The 20-year-old Academy product set up team-mate Joe Quigley to put the hosts 2-0 up inside just seven minutes at the Memorial Stadium before adding his own name to the scoresheet on 63 minutes, rolling a low shot into the corner of the net to complete the scoring after Andy Cook had pulled one back for the visitors. Kofi Balmer was responsible for Rovers’ opener.

Yusuf was withdrawn on the 90-minute mark to another warm reception from the hosts’ supporters.

His goal was his fourth since linking up with Bristol Rovers in January. After scoring twice on his full debut against Newport County on the last day of last month, he swiftly followed that up by scoring his side’s opener on their way to a 2-0 home victory over Walsall on 3 February.

Yusuf’s Development Squad team-mate Alfie Dorrington also registered an assist in League Two on Saturday, the defender teeing up Salford City team-mate Zach Awe to net their side’s second goal in an eventual 3-2 defeat at Cheltenham Town.
