Signe Gaupset: The story so far
Welcome to Spurs, Signe Gaupset!
Putting pen to paper at Hotspur Way, the exciting talented midfielder will join us from SK Brann on 1 January, 2026, on a long-term deal.
She has starred in her home country and on the international stage in recent years, becoming one of the standout names in Europe - and she will now embark on a new adventure in north London.
Only 20 years old, Signe has enjoyed an extensive career to date and we look back at her journey to becoming a Lilywhite.
Early inspiration in her hometown
Signe was born in Molde Municipality on 18 June, 2005, and spent her early years playing football in her hometown.
Inspired by her brother’s love for the game, who is two years older, she quickly followed in his footsteps and began playing football at just five years old, joining in with his training sessions before playing with boys in her school class.
With football now running through her veins, she was soon playing for a boys’ team at a local club called Rival.
Stepping up at a young age
Then, just at the age of 14 years old, the exciting attacking midfielder joined Molde, her hometown club, where she’d begin playing with a Women’s team for the first time while also with the club’s boys’ academy team.
And, remarkably, she was still doing this all while balancing with her school work, training before school, after school and even after dinner, putting in the hard graft to become the player she is today.
Spending a year or so at Molde, the starlet made the decision to leave and embark on a new journey and, despite plenty of interest around her and visiting a few clubs, Signe chose Sandviken – now rebranded as Brann.
Senior breakthrough and instant impact
Joining the Bergen-based side in 2021 – just before her 16th birthday – the young Norway star made an instant impression in senior football when she scored on her debut for the club – a 2-0 win over Asane in the second round of the Norwegian Cup.
She would go on to make her debut in the Toppserien (Norway’s top flight) in September and was once again on the scoresheet, netting her second goal in as many games for the club in a 4-0 win over Arna-Bjornar. She would go on to make 10 appearances overall in her maiden campaign – five of those coming in the league.
Into her second season, the then 17-year-old continued to feature regularly for Brann as she completed 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals in total.
But arguably her breakthrough moment came in November, 2022, in the final of the Norwegian Cup. Having already won the league title that season, Brann had the opportunity to complete the domestic double and Signe was the star of the show.
The talented individual netted a brace and registered an assist to help her side to a 3-1 win over Stabaek and secure their first cup title since 1995.
Champions League stardom and plenty of goals
Her third season at the Norwegian side was slightly hampered by injuries, making just eight appearances in the league, but the goalscoring midfielder had her first taste of the UEFA Champions League, featuring in all four of their qualifying games – where they lost out to FC Rosengard in the second round of qualifiers.
But her introduction to people outside of Norway arguably came in the competition the following campaign. With Brann securing progression to the group phase, one of their standout results at that stage was a 2-2 draw with eight-time winners Lyon. Signe scored the late equaliser in that contest – her first-ever goal in the competition – to record a significant point that saw Brann progress out of the group stage for the first time.
In 2024, the versatile attack-minded player, adept playing as a No 10, central midfielder and winger, made 42 appearances throughout the campaign, scoring eight goals and seven assists.
The latest season turned out to be her best goalscoring campaign to date in her short career already – registering 27 goal involvements (15 goals and 12 assists) in 26 league appearances, finishing as the league’s third-highest goalscorer – to guide Brann to their second Toppserien title in three years.
Her impressive performances also saw her named as the league’s 2025 Player of the Year – the perfect way to round off an impressive four-year spell with Brann.
Landslaget call-up and EURO 2025 spotlight
Having featured regularly for Norway’s youth sides from Under-16s to Under-23s, Signe received her first senior call-up in February, 2024 and went on to make her national team debut in a 5-0 win over Croatia in the UEFA Women’s Nations League play-off.
Possessed with speed and strength, while also comfortable with both feet, she earned her spot in Norway’s EURO 2025 squad in the summer and, having opened her account to help secure her country’s spot in the Finals, she played a starring role in the major international tournament.
Although she didn’t feature in the opening game against Switzerland, Signe went on to play in the following three fixtures in Norway’s run to the quarter-final, notably scoring a brace and registering two assists in a 4-3 win over Iceland.
Despite being only 20 years old, she has been capped 13 times for her nation to date, scoring seven goals in total.
Win for Kop, Thomas' Scotland rescue late draw
Lize Kop enjoyed a positive evening on her 17th cap for the Netherlands as they ran out 2-1 winners over Portugal in the friendly encounter on Friday.
Our number one, who has kept seven clean sheets in all competitions for us this term, started the clash in Braga as two goals in two minutes by Chasity Grant and Lynn Wilms gave the away side a healthy advantage by the midway point of the first half.
Portugal’s Andreia Faria halved the deficit just before the break, but the Netherlands held on in the second period to record the 2-1 victory.
Elsewhere, earlier on Friday, Martha Thomas’ Scotland netted a stoppage-time equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw with Ukraine in a friendly clash.
Martha started and completed 57 minutes before making way for Lauren Davidson. Maria McAneny found the leveller in the sixth minute of stoppage-time to cancel out Rokoslana Kravchuk’s first half opener.
Clare Hunt was an unused substitute for Australia as they defeated New Zealand 5-0 at the Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.
Meanwhile, Signe Gaupset, who last week agreed a deal to join us on 1 January, 2026, from SK Brann, scored twice for Norway in their 3-1 win over Brazil.

Spurs vs Fulham, Premier League
"Fulham have had issues creating chances, but recent wins over Wolves and Sunderland have helped them climb the table. For Spurs, after a goalscoring impact back in Paris, can Randal Kolo Muani kick on?"
Rob Daly, official club commentator, presenter and pundit
Hoping on Jimenez...
Marco Silva recently confirmed that Rodrigo Muniz, a striker with a good record against Spurs, will be out ‘for a long time’ meaning Raul Jimenez is their main option up front. The 34-year-old had to start last weekend’s win over Sunderland – having just played twice for Mexico during the international break - although he did pounce for the winner with six minutes to go. “It says a lot about his killer instinct” said Silva post-match. “He can perform amazingly well, and in other moments not so well, but you know that his heart will always be there and he'll give everything for the shirt." Jimenez scored four times against Spurs for Wolves but is yet to do so for Fulham.
Can they create more?
Only Leeds (18th) and Wolves (20th) have scored fewer than Fulham’s 13 goals going into the weekend – a number roughly in line with their expected goals (12.8). Some fans have lamented the team’s inability to create, but Silva’s side did at least manage 24 shots last weekend. The best opening fell the way of Jimenez and he took it – thanks to an outstanding low cross from Samuel Chukwueze. The tricky winger, signed from AC Milan on loan, invigorated Fulham, with his 30-minute cameo. "Massive impact. On the right and the left” admitted Silva at full-time. “We are seeing small spells for him. We are going to need him to have this type of impact, if possible, from the start of the match. He makes good decisions, and he is creative."
Silva selections...
Fulham fans will be wondering if Chukwueze has earned himself a first Premier League start in North London today. However there are other notable decisions for the manager. 18-year-old Josh King, an England Under-21 international already, started the last two home games in the number 10 position and has scored in the Carabao Cup but Emile Smith Rowe did well from the bench. Brazilian winger Kevin, signed for £34.6m, started life in a Fulham shirt brightly but is yet to register a Premier League goal or assist.
Ryan reborn...
Ryan Sessegnon’s time at Spurs was disrupted by injury, leaving the club with 57 appearances to his name. But he’s playing regular football again, even ending last season with four goals from 16 Premier League games. “He is doing very, very well,” Silva explained recently, praising his consistency. “He’s always improving off the ball, from a physical point of view, (to cope) against the tough wingers you face in the Premier League.” With Antonee Robinson out injured of late, Sessegnon has performed well at left-back – but he can hurt teams in attack too - as he did to score against Spurs last season.
Kolo Muani arrives
It was a real positive for Spurs fans, despite the 5-3 loss, to see Randal Kolo Muani get his first goals against parent club Paris Saint-Germain. Both strikes were of the highest quality – especially the second as he moved past Willian Pacho before firing home. “He came in late with no pre-season, not top fit, had two setbacks, especially with the dead leg and then the broken jaw," said Frank on Wednesday night, before adding that he hopes the France star is able to play more in the coming weeks. His link-up play with Richarlison in a front two was promising too, including the headed assist for the Brazilian’s opener at the Parc des Princes.
Last time in N17...
Spurs vs Fulham: Key stats for the Premier League fixture
Our Premier League campaign resumes on Saturday night up against a Fulham side who we've enjoyed a dominant home record over in the competition to date.
Under the lights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (kick-off 8pm), we head into the latest London derby on a six-game unbeaten run at home against the Cottagers (W4 D2) since a 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane in March 2013.
Across the 16 top-flight games hosted in N17, that is one of only two defeats (losing 3-0 in August 2003) in the history of this home fixture which dates back to our very first Premier League meeting in December 2001.
Zooming back in to this season, Marco Silva's side make the short trip to north London having lost each of their last five away games in the division and are one of three teams - alongside Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers - yet to win on their travels in 2025/26, collecting just one point in six games and that came from a 1-1 draw at Brighton on the opening weekend.
Despite this, they have got the better of us in two of the last three league fixtures, albeit both at Craven Cottage, which matches their total victories from the previous 23 meetings. Fulham have impressed at home this season with four wins in six games at the Cottage which included a 1-0 win over Sunderland last time out.
Back at home this weekend, a response is certainly needed following a three-game winless run with our previous victory that 4-0 triumph over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League. With only one Premier League win at home this term, Thomas Frank said the team will 'do everything we can to come flying out, to be positive, intense, energetic and forward' in his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon.
The Brazilian also netted in our last two league games against Manchester United and Arsenal and has scored 16 goals in his last 22 Premier League starts, with a hand in 12 goals across his previous 14 home starts in the league (10 goals, two assists), although he is still searching for his first goal against Fulham in the competition.
Joao Palhinha made 68 league appearances in a two-year spell at Fulham between 2022 and 2024, ranking first for tackles (300) and duels won (547) across the entire division during his time with the Cottagers. Since returning to England with us on loan from FC Bayern, our No 6 has made a league-high 57 tackles this season to reclaim his tackling crown since his competition debut.
Here are some other pre-match facts, courtesy of Opta, ahead of the London derby:
We haven't lost any of our five Premier League games this season after playing in Europe in midweek (W3 D2).
Fulham have lost their last five on the road in the Premier League, last having a longer run between January and April 2019 (seven).
We have failed to win any of our last three Premier League games against Fulham (D1 L2), having won 14 of the previous 16 before this run (D1 L1).
Having been involved in five goals in his first six Premier League games against Spurs (4 goals, one assist), Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez hasn’t scored or assisted in any of his last six against us.
Fulham have lost six of their last nine Premier League London derbies (W3) having gone unbeaten in their previous 10 (W5 D5). Meanwhile, we have lost each of our last three London derbies on home soil, never previously losing four on the bounce in the Premier League.
