WSL statement - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

The Barclays Women's Super League has today (Monday 16 June) released the following statement…

"At a WSL Football shareholders’ meeting today, subject to the approval of The FA Board, clubs voted to expand the Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) to 14 teams from the start of the 2026/27 season with a double round-robin format which includes automatic promotion and relegation alongside the addition of a promotion/relegation playoff to create distinction within the English women’s game.

"To expand the BWSL to14 teams for the start of 26/27 season, it was agreed that up to three teams would be promoted from the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 (BWSL2). The top two teams would be promoted automatically and there would be a playoff between the 12th placed BWSL team and the 3rd place BWSL2 team at the end of the 2025/26 season (which will need to be scheduled).

"BWSL2 will continue as a 12-team league with additional promotion opportunities from the FA Women’s National League (WNL) Northern and Southern Premier Divisions at the end of the 2025/26 season. These promotions will fill the additional vacancies created by the expansion of the BWSL. The method for these promotions, and any impact further down the pyramid, will be confirmed by The FA in due course.

"From the 26/27 season, it was agreed that the competition format for the BWSL would remain as a double round robin with the top three teams qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

"The 14th team in the BWSL would be automatically relegated and there would be an automatic promotion spot for the BWSL2 champions. In addition, there would be the introduction of a promotion/relegation playoff between the 13th placed BWSL team and the 2nd placed BWSL2 team to determine which club would either stay or be promoted.

"The decision to expand the BWSL to 14 teams, the method to do it, including any promotion mechanism for the WNL, promotion/relegation between the BWSL and BWSL2 for the 2026/27 season onwards are subject to the approval of The FA Board."

Saturday 26 July sees a visit to Woking at Kingfield Stadium, kick-off 3pm, before we return to near neighbours Enfield Town for the traditional pre-season friendly against them on Tuesday 5 August, kick-off 7.45pm.

Enfield Town’s Queen Elizabeth II Stadium is located just a stone’s throw from our Training Centre and has played host to this popular and well-attended fixture every year since 2018.

Tickets for all of our Under-21s’ pre-season matches will be available via the host clubs. Supporters are advised to book online in advance where possible to avoid disappointment.

As part of their preparations for the new campaign, our Under-21s will also travel to the Algarve for a week-long pre-season training camp next month.

Mikey Moore scored a late penalty as England came from behind to grab a 2-2 draw against Norway in their opening match of the UEFA Under-19 Championship in Romania on Saturday.

Proudly captaining the side, Mikey started and completed a full shift at the Ilie Oana Stadium in Ploiesti.

England started well, Mikey looking lively, and opened the scoring through Brighton's Tom Watson on 11 minutes. Alexander Rossing-Lelesiit levelled for Norway on 18 minutes, Mikey then set up Villa’s Kaden Young, who struck the woodwork.

Norway edged ahead just before the break through Sondre Granaas and it stayed that way in a quieter second half until 10 minutes from time, when Chelsea's Shumaira Mheuka was bundled over and Mikey made no mistake from the penalty spot, firing home confidently for 2-2.

Mathys Tel: All you need to know - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

This summer, Mathys Tel will become a Spurs player on a permanent basis.

Having joined us initially on loan from the Bavarian giants in February, the Club has now made the move to arranged his permanent transfer to N17 after he showed great promise in his first four months.

Here's all you need to know about Mathys and his journey so far...

Born in Sarcelles, in Paris’ northern suburbs in 2005, Mathys played for a number of local clubs as a boy and earned entrance to the world-renowned Clairefontaine academy for young players in the Île-de-France region.

Joining the esteemed academy at Stade Rennias in 2020, he became the Brittany club’s youngest ever player on his debut in August, 2021. The following month, he featured off the bench as we visited Roazhon Park in a UEFA Europa Conference League fixture, a 2-2 group stage draw.

His first season of senior football culminated with captaining his country to glory at the UEFA Under-17 European Championships in the summer 2022. He scored three goals en route to Les Bleuets’ third title in the competition.

European football took notice of his dazzling displays and, that summer, Bayern made the move to take Mathys to Germany.

He needed little time to make his mark at Bayern, becoming the Bavarian club’s youngest-ever goalscorer in a DFB-Pokal win, breaking the record set by Jamal Musiala.

In a talented group of Bayern forwards, Mathys has stood out time and again in his time in Munich, including against Premier League opposition. He came off the bench to score the decisive goal in a September, 2023, win over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League.

Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, Mathys shows willingness to take on his man and put his pace and balance to good use.

Joining us in February on an initial loan deal, the Frenchman made his debut for the Club at Anfield as he came of the bench in our Carabao Cup semi-final second leg clash with Liverpool.

The following week he scored his first goal as he struck with a late volley at Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round. He then made his Premier League debut and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium bow in the next week as we defeated Manchester United 1-0.

He scored his first goal in England's top flight from the penalty spot as we defeated Southampton 3-1 in April before scoring his second at Wolves a week later. He played in 13 of our final 14 league games of the game, starting 11 of them.

In Europe, he played in all bar two of our knockout games as we triumphed in the Europa League, lifting the trophy in Bilbao in May.

Permanent deal for Tel - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from FC Bayern.

Mathys joined the Club from the Bundesliga side in February on loan until the end of the season with an option to make the move permanent. We can confirm we have agreed a deal with Bayern that will see the France Under-21 international sign a contract that will run until 2031 when his current loan deal ends on 30 June.

He made his debut for the Club as a substitute against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup before marking his first start with a goal against Aston Villa in the Emirates FA Cup. His first Premier League strike came from the penalty spot in a 3-1 win over Southampton in April. The versatile forward made 20 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 3 goals.

Mathys is currently representing France at the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, alongside fellow Spurs team-mate Wilson Odobert.

Club supports National Blood Week - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

The Club has been supporting its local hospital - North Middlesex University Hospital - during National Blood Week to raise awareness of the urgent need for blood donors this summer.

Club ambassador Ledley King undertook a tour of North Mid alongside representatives from the hospital, including members of our NHS Spurs Official Supporters’ Club, to draw focus to crucial blood donation initiatives.

Ledley visited laboratories, the phlebotomy department, and the haematology day unit as part of the hospital’s “journey of blood” experience. Our former captain discussed with NHS staff the need to raise awareness of the issue of the life-saving impact of blood donation and the critical need for more donors, especially from Black, Asian, and mixed heritage communities.

There is currently an urgent need for more O negative donors, which are vital in emergencies, and for Black donors, who are far more likely to have the Ro blood type needed to treat sickle cell disease.

Today, fellow Ambassador Ossie Ardiles undertook the ‘What’s your blood type’ test during his visit to the hospital, which involves a finger prick that collects a small sample of blood and provides an instant result of the individual’s blood type. Only four drops of blood are required to provide the information, which can then be used to inform who could use that blood type in potential donations. Ergin Erbil, leader of Enfield Council, was also present during Ossie's visit and discussed the importance of the initiative for our local community with our former midfielder.

The Club is a long-standing supporter of North Mid, which is part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, and is donating 4,000 Spurs baby comforters to the hospital for newborns this summer – the first delivery of which were made by Ledley to the maternity unit this week.

To donate blood register now and book an appointment online at blood.co.uk, on the GiveBloodNHS app or by calling 0300 123 23 23.
