Jhanaie Pierre joins Watford on dual registration - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Jhanaie Pierre will spend the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign on a dual registration with Watford in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

The young forward, who featured in a Barclays Women’s Super League matchday squad last term at Chelsea, has joined the Hornets in what will be her first exposure of senior football in a highly competitive league.

She has made eight appearances for Under-19s this term, scoring once and registering two assists.

Jhanaie could be involved in Watford’s clash against Gwalia United on Sunday with Renee Hector’s side looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign, currently sitting second in the table with 23 points from nine games.

Under the terms of the dual registration, she will continue to train with us on certain days of the week alongside her training and matchday commitments with Watford.

Presser points | Spurs vs Arsenal (WSL) | Martin Ho - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Martin on his first north London derby…

“It's a new experience for me. Not a new experience for most of the players, but maybe for a few of them. We’re really excited, and the players are ready to respond in the right way after a disappointing game last weekend. We're in a good place and the players have trained extremely well. The energy's good, so yeah, I'm excited.”

Martin on our history against Arsenal in the WSL…

“Well, you can't control what's in the past. We have to control what we can and that's in front of us, that's our performance going into the weekend and our mentality going into that game. We have to play the game and not the occasion. I know that's obviously a big thing for the supporters and we'll make sure we put in a good performance for them. But we have to take away the emotion from the game and focus on what we can control.”

Martin on challenging towards the top of the table in the WSL…

“I haven’t come here just to take part. I want to make sure I can progress this team and help us achieve our ambitions. We know it’s obviously a big ask to go into that top three, it is a small group that go into the Champions League, but I believe if we get things right, we can. But, over the course of the season, you need a really consistent level - individually and collectively - to be able to get into that. We’ve to make sure we show that more now, but we want to keep ourselves in around that top three and that’s the most important part now until we get to the Christmas break.”

Martin on the pressure of the north London derby…

“I just take every game as it comes. There’s a lot for the fans to look at, those big games, they enjoy them like this one on the weekend. The players maybe have certain ones they look to, but I just look at the fixtures as they come. Every game I know in this league is competitive, it's tough, and the league now is at a totally different level to where it was before. This fixture is obviously new to me - it's a new experience. I’ve got a good feeling for that now because you see how many tickets we've sold for the game, so the fans are coming out, which you respect, and we thank a lot for them coming in their numbers. But I don't look up to any fixture, I just take everyone as it comes.”

On whether Arsenal feel vulnerable at the minute following Wednesday’s defeat to Bayern Munich…

“With a team like that, they've got wonderful players. Renee’s a wonderful manager. They’re the champions of Europe. They were in a good position in the Champions League the other day and one defeat doesn’t make you a bad team. Are they vulnerable? No. I wouldn't say they're vulnerable because they probably want to respond. Like I said with us from the game on the weekend (against London City Lionesses), we’ve had a disappointing performance, and you want to respond. So, hopefully, it's fire against fire - which makes for a good game.”

Martin on whether he has been briefed about the importance of the north London derby…

“No, I know how important is. You get a feel for that when you're just external, when you're watching this type of game, you know how competitive it is and how much it means to supporters. I know what it means from a Men's side, from a rivalry, so I'm very well aware that it's an important game. It was the same in pre-season, I made the players aware that it was an important game too because no matter if it's a friendly or not, you want to make sure you show your best. I know we're in for a good game on the weekend and we need to make sure that we perform.”

Martin on whether Brisbane Road could be used an advantage this weekend…

“I think we could. In our own surroundings, it can have a big positive effect. We know exactly what the feel is at Brisbane Road. We’ve had a really good start to the season at Brisbane Road, up to now, and we have to make sure we continue that. We have to make that place a fortress for people to come to and we have to make it difficult for people when they come there. We've done that so far this season, we've had a good record there and we've performed well - and I want to make sure we continue that on the weekend.”

On the competition between Bethany England and Cathinka Tandberg…

“Both of them are competing with each one other well. We need to understand that there's two really solid profiles there that actually add a lot of value to this team. Whatever games suit them, and whatever kind of game plan we go with, I make sure I put the best players out for that fixture. Now there’s more competition in the squad, it's starting to get more competitive. So whatever the game presents for us on the weekend and what we feel we need to go with, we'll make that decision, come tomorrow.”

Brandon shares wisdom with Academy goalkeepers at Hotspur Way

Brandon shares wisdom with Academy goalkeepers at Hotspur Way - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Goalkeepers of all ages from across the club came together recently for a special evening with Brandon Austin.

The 26-year-old stopper, famously a product of our Academy system, spoke at length about the ups and downs he’s experienced on his journey to becoming a Premier League footballer and Europa League winner with us.

Budding young keepers from every age group in the Academy – Under-21s down to Under-8s, and even some of our pre-Academy goalkeepers as young as six – were captivated by Brandon’s stories and enjoyed a golden opportunity to pick his brains in a Q&A before heading outside for a specially-arranged training session overseen by the homegrown star along with our Head of Goalkeeping Fabian Otte and First Team Assistant and Transition Goalkeeping Coach Dean Brill.

As part of the evening, Brandon’s mum, Lisa, also spoke brilliantly to the parents and guardians of our current crop of young goalkeepers – who were also invited to attend the event – about her experiences of supporting her son on his journey to the top.

With so many aspiring stoppers listening in, it was fitting that Brandon spoke about the advice he would give to his younger self when reflecting on his career so far.

“Being older and wiser now, I would tell myself that I didn’t need to put as much pressure on myself about certain things,” he said. “I let things get to me a lot when I was younger – I can remember when I first transitioned to 11v11 football, any goals that went in, I’d think it was my fault, it was a catastrophe, a disaster that I’d conceded a goal, but there were 10 other people in front of me who could have done something to help prevent it, so that comes with being older and wiser.”

Fabian, who joined the club over the summer after serving as part of Premier League title-winning Liverpool’s backroom staff last season, arranged the event along with Dean and underlined how important it was for our young keepers to feel like they can relate to Brandon as they bid to follow in his footsteps.

“This event comes from something we started looking at during the summer, where we in the club, the Academy and the goalkeeping department – with our Head of Academy Goalkeeping Sam Donkin – all work very closely together every day,” he said.

“This was just one event that we wanted to start with because Brandon, with his pathway, is the perfect example of how a good department can work and how young goalkeepers can make it all the way through to the first team. That was the idea, to take Brandon as the best case example of what good work looks like, give all the young goalkeepers a chance to see this journey up close and to ask questions about it.

“The whole evening went very well, Brandon was very happy and excited about it, his mother was really happy to be there and Brandon was happy that she was there as well, because his parents played a big, big role in his development. The combination of Brandon being present and getting the credit he deserves, the goalkeepers getting good insight, his mum being there and also the parents attending and seeing a parent who has been through this entire journey meant it was a really good, holistic package for everyone.”

The evening came off the back of a similar session led by Guglielmo Vicario last season, with further events planned with our senior goalkeepers in the coming months.

Spurs vs Arsenal (WSL) | Key stats | Home fortunes and plenty of goals…

@SpursOfficial

Fri 14 November 2025, 15:45| Tottenham Hotspur

It’s nearly upon us. The first north London derby of the season in the Barclays Women’s Super League at Brisbane Road on Sunday.

With the main event set to get underway at 2.30pm (UK), it’s set to be one of the most exciting north London derbies in recent history as we head into this weekend’s encounter level on points (15) with Arsenal – separated by just goal difference.

And we’ve enjoyed being at home so far this term. Having won our last three games at Brisbane Road in all competitions, two in the WSL, we’ll be looking to win three consecutive league games on home turf for the first time ever in the division – previously beating Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion in our last two outings in the WSL.

However, Martin Ho will be looking to bounce back against the Gunners after suffering defeat away at London City Lionesses last weekend – just our third defeat of the campaign, which has seen plenty of promise so far in his maiden spell in the WSL.

Arsenal grabbed a late equaliser to hold league leaders Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium last time out. In fact, we’ll need to be at our very best defensively to keep out a strong attacking threat from Renee Slegers’ side, who have scored at least 12 more goals than any other WSL side in the 2025 calendar year (60 goals in 20 games).

Summer arrival Cathinka Tandberg has embedded herself right at home in England, scoring four WSL goals in eight games and she could become the first non-British player since Nicole Rosler in 2013 to score five goals in the competition in fewer than 10 outings.

The ever-impressive Bethany England is also another player to keep an eye on this weekend, with our captain netting 18 goals across all London derbies – more than any other player in the WSL.

Watch | Martha Thomas' historic goal against Arsenal

Here are some other headline pre-match facts, courtesy of Opta, ahead of the north London derby:

Arsenal won both of their first two away games against us in the WSL in 2019/20 (2-0) and 2020/21 (3-0) but haven’t won two in a row at Spurs since.

The North London derby is the most played derby fixture in WSL history that has never seen a red card brandished for either side (11 meetings). However, with 41 cautions shown, this is the fixture that averages more yellow cards per game than any other to have been played at least twice overall (3.7).

Arsenal sit fourth in the WSL this season, above us only on goal difference, with us (5) actually winning more games than our north London rivals (4) – the Gunners haven’t won fewer than five of their opening nine games of a top-flight campaign since 2014 (3).

Arsenal have recorded the most build up attacks in the WSL this season (28), while only Leicester City (1) have recorded fewer than us (2). The Gunners have had the most touches in the opposition box this season (319) and only Manchester City (113) have had more shots from inside the box (106).

Only Vivianne Miedema (8) has scored more goals in WSL North London derbies than Arsenal’s Caitlin Foord (7), with Spurs the only opponent the Aussie has scored more than five times against in the English top-flight.

Description

Martin Ho has said there are no fresh injury concerns heading into Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal at Brisbane Road (2.30pm UK).

There was a slight doubt over Lize Kop from last weekend’s defeat to London City Lionesses after our number one took a blow to the nose in a collision with Nikita Parris during their second goal early in the second half and a lengthy stoppage of play followed as our goalkeeper received treatment.

However, when our Head Coach was asked for an injury update in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of the Gunners, he reported a clean bill of health from those available for selection.

"No, everyone has trained today," said Martin."Just the long-term absentees still. Everyone trained fully today and I'll just wait for an assessment from the medical staff [post-training] and we can look forward to tomorrow.

When asked on Lize’s condition, he added: "She is fine. She has been well looked after by the Club and so on. She's been in this week and she's available for selection."

Meanwhile, Ella Morris, Luana Buhler and Maite Oroz are long-term absentees and will be unavailable for selection this Sunday.

Destiny awaits for boxer and Spurs fan Sam Gilley in N17

Destiny awaits for boxer and Spurs fan Sam Gilley in N17 - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

"One day, I just want to be able to say ‘I fought at Spurs’...

Sam Gilley, December, 2023.

It’s not often you get to fulfil your sporting dreams - boxer Sam Gilley is hours away from the opportunity to do just that.

Sam, from a generation of Spurs fans, will fight for the British super welterweight title against Ishmael Davis at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of the Benn-Eubank II ‘Unfinished Business’ card on Saturday.

Speaking to us at his gym us a couple of years ago, after landing the Commonwealth title, Sam said: "One day, I just want to be able to say, ‘I fought at Spurs'.

"The British title is the next target, the Lonsdale belt. When I was a kid, I had a Blackberry, and my screen shot was the British title, so that’s the one."

One will and, fingers crossed, both dreams will come true in Sam’s second home in N17 on Saturday night.

Speaking to us again, exclusively, during fight week, Sam is absolutely aware destiny is calling. “I did a media day yesterday and in every single interview I've said this is... people say it must be a dream and I'm like, 'it's so ridiculous that I'm fighting at Tottenham!' I can't even call it a dream because it's that far past it.

“I was at the first Benn-Eubank fight and even though I was there as a fan watching it, I didn't sit there and think, ‘oh, if they have a re-match, I could be on the card’. That still didn't come into my head. It’s just so, so ridiculous that I'm fighting here.

“I'm absolutely buzzing. There are no doubts in me, no nerves in me. I'm just… I'm so excited. The ring walk... that's going to be some adrenaline rush! I go to all the home games and I’ve always thought, when the players walk out, they hear the crowd, the trumpeter starts, what must they feel like? Well, I’m going to get a taste of that on Saturday.”

So, it's the dream - but there’s also the reality of an opponent waiting to take Sam’s Commonwealth belt and the vacant British title, and he has full respect for Ishmael Davis, ‘The Black Panther’ out of Leeds, who has won 14 of his 17 bouts.

‘Magic Man’ Sam, beaten just once in 20, added: “It's still a boxing ring at the end of the day, no matter whether it's put up at Spurs or it's put up in the street, when you get inside that ring, you've still got a job to do.

“Ishmael Davis is a very, very credible, strong fighter. He won't back down from any challenge. For instance, in his last fight, he boxed a boy from Belfast, in Belfast, and that was only a few months ago, so he's come straight out of that to go in with a Tottenham boy at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He won't say no to a challenge, so you've got to give him credit for that. He backs himself as well, so it’s going to be a good test!”

For Sam, a tough couple of stop-start years in the ring will all be forgotten when he looks up and sees that famous golden cockerel looking over the stadium. “As I said, I was at Benn-Eubank I, and you sit there and think, ‘one day, I might fight at the 02 or somewhere like that’, now I’ve got the dream in front of me. Finally! I’m 31 now. I’m still aiming for the same belt I was aiming for two years ago, but if you’d said to me two years ago that I’ll have a tricky couple of years, but get the chance to fight for it at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - yeah, go on then, I’ll have that!”

Breaking down the WSL, with Ben Haines - Tottenham Hotspur
Description

Ben Haines, club TV presenter and women’s football presenter, will sit down with us ahead of every WSL home game this season to provide his insight on the upcoming fixture and the news around the league.

An action-packed London derby

It was a lively London derby last weekend against London City Lionesses, who I feel we’re still learning about and trying to understand where they’re currently at as they’ve obviously assembled an impressive squad in the summer. In terms of the way we approached the game, once we reached 2-2, it felt like we would be side that would go on to win the game. It got quite chaotic, pretty much end-to-end, but we ultimately came unstuck from two set pieces and that was enough to ensure London City Lionesses got over the line. The fourth goal came from us chasing the game and going in search of an equaliser, but Martin Ho would have taken a lot of positives away from that game to go reinforce on the training ground this week and a few things that he would want to work on as well.

Influential Holdt

Olivia Holdt was once again finding those pockets of space that we’re so used to seeing her find now. She invites challenges in and then can glide past them, and she isn’t just about creating outright assists, but it’s about creating space for other players to exploit. So, if she can invite a challenge against teams playing a low block, she can suddenly ghost past player and create a two-on-one situation, but it also creates a huge amount space for our other attackers. She could play a big part in this afternoon’s fixture against Arsenal.

Elsewhere in the WSL

Looking at the results from last weekend, the one standout was the impressive Aston Villa win over Manchester United. People seem to have forgotten about their strong finish to last season, picking up 15 points from a possible 15, and they’ve gently eased into a fairly good position in the opening stages of this term. At the start of the last campaign, there was discussion whether Aston Villa would be part of a relegation battle, but none of those issues seem to have surfaced this time around.

An entertaining north London derby on the cards

Now, we come into what I think is the most exciting north London derby in years. There’s no denying it; Arsenal have always been one of the powerhouses in Women’s football. They’ve certainly built a good infrastructure around the team but there’s also no getting away from the fact that Spurs have started to close that gap this season. Spurs are now in and around the sides at the top of the table, which is really good going at this stage of a season and, in no small part, down to the fantastic work that Martin has done.

A reflection on Arsenal’s opening months

Arsenal have had a tough start to the season, including the defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League earlier this week. There’s no doubt that they felt they should have taken all three points from that game against Chelsea. They rode the atmosphere and certainly turned up on the day. Arsenal are a very good side who have an abundance of talent throughout the group. It will take us being at our very best to get past them but I don’t see why we can’t do that in what will be a brilliant north London derby.
