Tottenham Happy to Be Named Tottenham Again - Footy Headlines
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have performed a quiet U-turn on their strict naming rules and are once again embracing being called simply "Tottenham". As reported by The Athletic, the club has moved away from its controversial branding policy that actively discouraged the media and the public from using the shortened geographical name.

Tottenham Hotspur Make U-Turn on Banning the Name 'Tottenham'

The initial restriction was codified in November 2024, when the north London side rolled out a remastered brand identity developed with Studio Nomad. Alongside visual tweaks such as removing the curved club text from underneath the cockerel crest and reviving a classic monogram, the internal Brand Playbook explicitly dictated naming conventions.

It instructed staff and external partners to use "Tottenham Hotspur", "Tottenham Hotspur Football Club", or "THFC", going as far as to state: "Never refer to our Club as 'Tottenham', 'Tottenham Hotspur FC' or 'TH'."

Reconnecting With North London Heritage

That guidance escalated in February 2025, when the Premier League emailed international broadcasters on behalf of the club requesting that on-screen graphics and commentators avoid calling them "Tottenham", instead preferring "Tottenham Hotspur" as the primary name or "Spurs" as the only accepted abbreviation.

While the club had held internal preferences along those lines since 2011, putting a hard ban on the local name alienated many supporters who felt it detached the club from its surrounding community.

Over the past months, however, the club has actively leaned back into its roots. The shift has been visible across the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where large digital screens prominently feature the slogan "THIS IS TOTTENHAM", alongside club media projects such as the short film Tottenham 'Til I Die. The move re-anchors the club's pride in the north-east London neighborhood where it has played since its founding in 1882.

The return of the name was formally welcomed by supporters during a Fans Advisory Board meeting in late September 2026.

While official broadcast feeds and league graphics still routinely default to "Spurs" or the full club title, the club hierarchy no longer objects to being referred to by the town name that has defined their history for well over a century.

Tottenham to Bring Back Popular Light Blue for 27-28 Season - Footy Headlines
Description

Following Czechia's high-profile switch from Puma to Adidas after 33 years, kit enthusiasts quickly spotted an uncanny similarity between Czechia's newly unveiled 26-27 home shirt and another recent Adidas addition: Singapore. Both national teams recently parted ways with long-term suppliers, with Singapore ending a two-decade partnership with Nike just weeks before Czechia ended their three-decade Puma era, only for both to receive remarkably similar shirts from the Three Stripes.

The resemblance between the two red shirts is unmistakable. Both jerseys rely on the exact same template and trim styling, built around a red base with a white crew collar bordered by thin navy blue piping, matching white sleeve cuffs with identical navy trim, and white Three Stripes across the shoulders. The primary visual difference is found in the texture of the fabric, as Singapore's kit incorporates a subtle tonal wave pattern, whereas Czechia's jersey arrives in a plain, solid red finish. Even the promotional launch shots look almost mirrored, with both federations photographing players seated or standing while holding an Adidas Tiro football.

The duplication stems from Adidas' streamlined template strategy when signing new federations on tight turnaround times. With both agreements sealed relatively late in the cycle, bespoke tailor-made graphics were kept to a minimum, resulting in what fans have labeled accidental twin kits on opposite sides of the globe.

Barcelona officially debuted a red shorts and socks variant with their 2026-27 home shirt in the away match against Valencia, avoiding a potential kit clash.

The combination was previously used in a friendly against Birmingham City last month and is set to be used regularly throughout the season. It also marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that Barcelona have used red as a supplementary colour alongside their home shirt.

The new combination made a memorable competitive debut as Barcelona secured a 5-0 win over Valencia.

Belgian side SV Zulte Waregem and kit supplier Patrick have officially released their new third kit for the 26-27 season. Celebrating the club's silver jubilee marking 25 years since their formation in 2001, Essevee swap out their traditional red, green, and white colours for an understated black and silver look dubbed "Memories worth a touch of silver."

The Patrick SV Zulte Waregem 26-27 third jersey features a black base detailed with thin vertical silver pinstripes down the front. A closer inspection reveals that the pinstripes incorporate handwritten script documenting key milestones and dates throughout the club's history, highlighting achievements such as their inaugural 2001-02 title and their memorable 2012-13 campaign as league runners-up.

Completing the anniversary aesthetic, the jersey is finished with a silver V-neck collar and matching sleeve cuffs. All branding—including the monochrome SV Zulte Waregem club crest, Patrick maker's marks, and primary sponsors iDocta and Elindus—appears in silver and white to match the unified commemorative design.

In their Serie A clash against Inter at San Siro, SSC Napoli caught the attention of eagle-eyed Napoli kit expert @TutelaMagliaNA. For the 26-27 centenary season, EA7 designed two distinct pairs of white shorts: the home shorts carry the club's special centenary crest, while the away version features an alternate Mount Vesuvius-themed logo. Because the red jersey used the standard circular Napoli crest, pairing it with either of the 26-27 white shorts would have caused a clash of emblems on the same uniform.

Rather than producing a third set of white change shorts solely to carry the standard badge, Napoli simply reused their plain white match shorts from 25-26.

Premier League Kit Rules: Tottenham's Away and Third Kits Are Walking a Fine Line - Footy Headlines
Description

As a closer inspection revealed yesterday, the Premier League does not allow teams to have more than three different kits per season. To avoid possible kit clashes with "just" three kits, the Premier League has another very strict rule.

Premier League Kit Contrast Regulations - Each Kit of a Team Must Be Wearable Against Each Other With Sufficient Contrast

Under the competition's handbook rules and rule M.14. teams must use distinct tones across home, away, and third kits. Every kit "must differ visibly from and contrast with each other Strip".

Each Strip registered with the Board by a Club must differ visibly from and contrast with each other Strip registered by the Club in that Season, such that they could be worn by competing Clubs in a League Match, for the purposes of Rule M.22

Tottenham Hotspur's 26-27 kit lineup provides an interesting case study in kit planning. Alongside their traditional white home shirt, Spurs and Nike unveiled a navy away jersey and a purple third kit. The club's alternate shirts do not provide a contrast most people would find sufficient.

Indeed, the away match against Coventry is challenging for Tottenham's kit colors, but the purple third kit should work.

Premier League's rule forbids cases such as Bayern's two white kits in the 2023-24 season, and also Real Madrid's navy and black options of that same season.

Ultimately, match referees and league kit managers hold final authority over kit approvals before every fixture. While there is no rule barring specific aesthetic choices in isolation, having change kits that sit too close in tonal balance limits a club's versatility, occasionally forcing last-minute mixed shorts and sock combinations to satisfy contrast requirements on matchday.

Nottingham Forest have officially announced a multi-year Principal Partnership with global financial services platform Marex. Starting with the 26-27 season, Marex will serve as the club's new front-of-shirt sponsor, replacing gambling brand Bally's. The agreement is reported to be worth approximately £25 million over a three-year period.

The clean Marex wordmark and arrow logo will be featured across the front of the Nottingham Forest men's and women's first-team playing and replica kits, as well as the club's netball team dresses. In addition to primary kit placement, Marex will become Forest's official Global Markets Partner and exclusive provider of foreign exchange and financial services.

The announcement resolves Forest's search for a principal partner just ahead of the new Premier League campaign, following a pre-season without a front-of-shirt sponsor. The transition also aligns with the Premier League's upcoming voluntary ban on gambling companies occupying front-of-shirt sponsorship inventory.

J1 League side Kyoto Sanga have officially revealed their new home kit for the 26-27 AFC Champions League Elite season, made by Puma.

Compared to the domestic home kit, this new design features a colder shade of purple, decorated with a half-tone diamond pattern across the base. The strip uses a simple template from Puma, pairing the purple jersey with black shorts and purple shorts.

Thai League 1 club Port FC have officially unveiled their new 2026-27 third kit. Made by Japanese brand Mizuno, the new shirt completes the club's kit lineup for the upcoming campaign.

The Mizuno Port FC 2026-27 third shirt features a black and white base with a bold halftone dot gradient across the front and back. Solid black sleeves frame the design, while segmented black and white detailing appears on the V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. The club crest, Mizuno logo and sponsor branding complete the look.

Dundalk FC and Macron have officially launched a special limited-edition centenary jersey to celebrate 100 years of the club's membership in the League of Ireland (1926–2026). Designed by Killian Walsh and Sean Cotter, the one-off kit pays tribute to a century of history with a refined retro aesthetic.

The shirt arrives in a clean long-sleeve cut, featuring a white base detailed with subtle dark pinstripes and finished with a classic black polo collar and matching cuffs. A standout feature is the bespoke centenary crest on the left chest, which draws inspiration from historical club emblems with a modern take on Dundalk's traditional martlet birds. To maintain the vintage look, the Macron Hero and sponsor branding appear in tonal and subtle treatments across the chest.

The Dundalk FC Centenary shirt is available in limited quantities through the club's official online store and at the Oriel Park club shop in both adult and kids' sizes.

Greek Super League side OFI Crete and Puma have officially unveiled the club's new home kit for the 2026-27 season. Completing the club's full wardrobe for the campaign following the earlier releases of their away, third, and fourth strips, the new design delivers a bold and classic look.

The Puma OFI Crete 26-27 home shirt is predominantly black, highlighted by a prominent white chevron across the upper chest. The sharp V-shaped graphic is framed with subtle grey bordering. Sitting cleanly within the white block are a black Puma cat logo on the right side and the club's circular crest on the left, which is topped with two commemorative stars.

White Betsson sponsor lettering runs across the front directly beneath the chevron. The kit is built on Puma dryCELL moisture-wicking technology and is complemented by matching black shorts and socks to round off the on-pitch look.

The Nike Tottenham 2026 'Recycle' pre-match jersey features an extremely striking lime green base. The vibrant color choice ensures maximum visibility, while also underlining the experimental nature of this special release.

The most notable design element is the replacement of Nike’s traditional Swoosh with the brand’s recycle logo, officially known as the Nike Sunburst. This symbol is closely associated with Nike’s sustainability initiatives and appears prominently on the chest.

Both the Nike recycle logo and the Spurs crest are executed in the same lime tone as the base fabric, creating a subtle, tonal look.

Update: We can leak more products of the Nike Tottenham 2026 'Sunburst' collection. They all feature the Nike recycle logo, known as the Sunburst.

Nike is planning a special collection for Tottenham Hotspur in early 2026 that will feature a unique branding twist: the Nike 'Recycle' logo (also known as the Sunburst) replaces the traditional Nike Swoosh on the apparel.

This move marks a visually distinct approach for a major club collection, emphasizing sustainability and Nike's "Move to Zero" initiatives.

Nike Tottenham Hotspur 2026 'Recycle Logo' Collection

See below the jacket of the Nike Tottenham 2026 SE collection.

The core feature of the Nike Tottenham Hotspur 2026 special collection is the prominent use of the Nike Sunburst logo in place of the iconic Swoosh. This circular logo, made from Swooshes, symbolizes Nike's journey towards zero carbon and zero waste and its commitment to circular design principles.

Logically, with this branding choice, the Nike Tottenham 2026 collection is heavily focused on sustainability, with garments presumably made from recycled materials, such as polyester derived from plastic bottles. This aligns with Nike's broader sustainability initiatives, often highlighted by campaigns showing kits made from recycled plastic bottles – a practice Nike notably pushed forward around the 2010 World Cup with their "Nike Better World" campaign.

Following the same bold and fashion-oriented approach seen across Nike’s upcoming retro range, Tottenham Hotspur's 2026-27 retro strip blends vintage inspiration with modern graphics, aiming squarely at lifestyle and streetwear appeal rather than match use.

Tottenham 26-27 Retro Kit

This is the new Nike Tottenham Hotspur FC retro jersey for 2026-27.

The Nike Tottenham 2026-2027 retro jersey features a predominantly black base, overlaid with wide horizontal stripes that run across the chest, sleeves, and body.

These stripes are executed in a vibrant gradient mix of turquoise, cyan, purple, and orange, creating a dynamic, almost neon glow effect that gives the shirt a futuristic twist while still nodding to classic retro patterns.

The Nike Tottenham 2026-27 retro jersey is completed with a traditional black fold-over collar, finished with subtle white detailing along the edges. Below the collar sits a V-shaped collar, reinforcing the vintage football aesthetic commonly associated with retro kits from the 1980s and 1990s, while maintaining a clean and wearable silhouette.

Across the chest, the 'HOTSPURS' wordmark is presented in a bold, stylized typeface, reinforcing the lifestyle direction of the jersey and aligning with the experimental graphic language used throughout the design.
