Manchester United will entertain Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford this Saturday as they look to secure all three points at home in the Premier League. The Red Devils managed to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Fulham before the international break, so they would be keen on getting back to winning ways in the league.
Michael Carrick will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, Matheus Cunha will once again lead the line for Man United up top.
Defence
Senne Lammens will feature in between the sticks for the Mancunian club after conceding one goal in his last outing. Harry Maguire will operate alongside Lisandro Martinez at the centre of Carrick’s defence as they look to keep the opposition attackers frustrated during the 90 minutes.
Diogo Dalot will try to prove his value as the right-back, while Luke Shaw hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Leny Yoro will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Kobbie Mainoo will be in a race against time to be fit for this game. He could get the nod to play alongside Youri Tielemans as they look to dictate the tempo of the game and orchestrate some decent chances in the final third.
The gifted trio of Marcus Rashford, who is a major doubt for this game, Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo could function just ahead of them as part of Carrick’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if the Red Devils are to create enough chances to win this game.
Mason Mount and Andrey Santos will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Matheus Cunha will lead the charge for Man United in the final third. He has to figure out a way to cause a lot of headaches for the Tottenham defenders this weekend.
Joshua Zirkzee will be named on the bench as he awaits his chance to shine in the final quarter of the game if needed.
