Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League with both clubs set to have players on the sidelines through injury

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will both have players on the sidelines when they meet in the Premier League this weekend. United are preparing to face Spurs at Old Trafford on Saturday night in their first match after the extended international break, and will be determined to secure all three points.

Michael Carrick will be hoping that United can return to winning ways when they face Tottenham on Saturday, but will have to do so without some of their key players at his disposal.

Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui are both set to miss United’s clash against Spurs, with the pair picking up injuries during the international break.

"Patrick came off and looks like he'll be out for probably a number of weeks,” Carrick said. “Nous [Mazraoui] came off and took a knock. He's not quite right yet, so we'll have to see how he is.”

Benjamin Sesko is also guaranteed to be unavailable for United after the striker withdrew from the Slovenia squad and missed the draw with Fulham before the international break through injury.

There will also be late checks on the fitness of Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, after the duo withdrew from the England squad at the start of the international break.

There are also question marks over the fitness of Carlos Baleba and Amad Diallo, who have returned to training for United, but neither have made their first appearance of the season.

"Carlos [Baleba] has improved, he's trained a lot,” Carrick said. “Amad's done a little bit of training, Marcus has done a little bit of training, Kobbie's done a little bit of training.

“So, a little bit mixed really between the group. Ben's a little bit further away with the issue he's got, so he won't be ready."

It also remains to be seen if Matthijs de Ligt will have returned to full fitness as the defender continues to recover from a back injury that has kept him on the sidelines since last November.

Manuel Ugarte remains a long-term absentee with a knee injury, while there are question marks over the fitness of goalkeeping duo Karl Darlow and Tom Heaton.

Tottenham will also have several members of their squad unavailable for selection, with manager Roberto De Zerbi offering an update.

Spurs will have Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven available, after De Zerbi confirming that the duo are fit to start after picking up knocks during the international break.

De Zerbi also hopes to have James Maddison available, but the Tottenham boss admitted that the playmaker had suffered a setback in training.

“He [Maddison] is available but he lost three/four days in the beginning of this week and the end of the last week,” De Zerbi said.

However, there will be no Pedro Porro or Mykhailo Mudryk, with De Zerbi confirming that the duo are not available to face United.
