Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi has revealed what he thinks of Tottenham’s current predicament under Igor Tudor.

Tudor has a great record of having an immediate impact after taking over at struggling clubs across his managerial career, which is why Tottenham turned to the Croat to replace Thomas Frank.

However, the 47-year-old has failed to get a tune out of the Spurs squad, with the 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest potentially set to be the final nail in the coffin for the former Juventus boss.

Reports indicate that Tudor is expected to be replaced before the end of the international break as the Lilywhites desperately look to preserve their top-flight status.

Marco Materazzi reacts to Igor Tudor’s Tottenham struggles

Materazzi has now said that while the Croat has proven himself in the Serie A, the Premier League is a completely different kettle of fish.

He insisted that in a situation like this, it is up to the Tottenham squad to come together and fight for each other on the pitch.

The Italian legend told Hajper (as relayed by Football.London): “Igor Tudor did a good job at Juventus, but the Premier League and Italian football are totally different. It’s not easy, especially when you are in a bad moment in a season, and right now, Tottenham Hotspur are not on top.

“I don’t know what is going on in the locker room at Tottenham. I don’t know what has happened. Whether they are happy about Tudor or not, when you are in a bad position, you have to be a unit, and then you have to run hard because Tottenham should be one of the best teams in the Premier League.”

Materazzi is not convinced Spurs will avoid relegation

The former Inter Milan defender is not sure if Tudor can save Tottenham from being relegated for the first time in nearly half a century.

He admitted that Spurs’ relegation rivals are showing much more desire and fight than the Lilywhites at the moment.

Materazzi added: “It’s not easy to change a club’s history. Tudor is trying but I don’t know if he can do it. He has time to finish his job, and it’s a good experience because the Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world.

“I hope they can stay up, but it’s not easy because the teams behind them in the league are running harder than Tottenham right now.”
