Tottenham have completed the signing of ‘this’ star.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth on a free transfer, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the deal is done, sealed, and 100 per cent confirmed with all paperwork signed.

The Argentine international joins on a four-year contract, bringing Premier League experience, international pedigree, and proven quality to a Tottenham defence that requires significant reconstruction following Cristian Romero’s confirmed departure and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Micky van de Ven’s contract situation.

The deal had been in the pipeline for some time, with a verbal agreement reported as far back as March when Tottenham’s survival was still far from guaranteed. The club’s ability to plan ahead in such difficult circumstances, securing Senesi’s commitment even while fighting relegation, reflects a level of forward thinking that has not always been evident in previous transfer windows at the club.

Senesi arrives having spent four years at Bournemouth, where he established himself as a reliable, technically assured, and experienced Premier League centre back. He lost his starting position temporarily when Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi were brought in, but reclaimed prominence after both departed for Real Madrid and PSG, respectively, finishing the season as a key figure for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Marcos Senesi is currently in his prime

At 29, he arrives in the prime years of a centre back’s career, old enough to bring genuine experience and authority to the backline yet young enough to grow within Roberto De Zerbi’s system over the course of his four-year contract. His technical ability in possession and his composure under pressure make him a natural fit for a manager who demands intelligent defensive play alongside genuine quality on the ball.

The free transfer element of the deal represents exactly the kind of financially astute business De Zerbi spoke about wanting to conduct this summer. Quality players arriving without transfer fees, allowing the funds available to be directed toward other positions that require investment, is the blueprint the Italian has outlined for rebuilding a squad capable of competing comfortably in the Premier League next season. Senesi is the first confirmed piece of that puzzle.
