Tottenham know what they have to do following West Ham's defeat to Arsenal at the London Stadium.

To be fair, Spurs knew exactly what they needed to do before that result, with the focus solely on their own results in the Premier League, but that 1-0 win for bitter rivals Arsenal in east London will have sharpened minds, somewhat.

The Hammers now only have two games left to play this season and if Tottenham pick up all three points against a Leeds side who know they are safe from relegation now, because of that defeat for West Ham, they will give themselves a massive chance of survival come the end of the campaign.

Tottenham can put immense pressure on West Ham

Victory over the Whites on Monday night leaves West Ham having to win both of their final two matches to have any chance of overhauling Spurs, because of the Lilywhites' superior goal difference.

Monday night's match is hugely significant to Spurs' Premier League survival hopes.

They go into the match in good form, having won back-to-back games for the first time since the first two games of the season, and can make it three in a row for the first time in 2025/26.

Speaking about the relegatiopn battle on the Rest Is Football podcast, former Spurs striker Gary Lineker said: "Massive game, if they could somehow get three points out of that, they would be four points clear of West Ham."

Alan Shearer, who does the podcast with Lineker and Micah Richards, already predicted that Spurs would win and he replied to Lineker by saying: "The relief that Spurs would have had as well when Arsenal are winning that game that would, you would think, after how they played last week and getting the points last week, that would give them the belief and confidence to go again.

"It wouldn't surprise me if Spurs would win."

Tottenham and West Ham fixtures remaining

Following tonight's game, West Ham travel to St James' Park to take on Newcastle on Sunday evening, with Tottenham not playing until Tuesday night, when they fact Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, because the Blues are in FA Cup action on Saturday.

Then, oni the final day of the season, West Ham host Leeds United, with Spurs hosting Everton. Tottenham will be hoping it is all over by then and that the results they have accumulated have already relegated West Ham. But to have any chance of doing that, they have to beat Leeds on Monday night.
