Alan Shearer is just about backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat the drop in the Premier League this season.

The North London club are sitting in a precarious position right now in the Premier League table, just one point above the bottom three.

👀 How many points will Tottenham take from their next four Premier League matches?

West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are both right on their tails, having picked up results during the last gameweek of fixtures.

Spurs remain the only Premier League team without a win in 2026, but Shearer still thinks they will have enough to remain in the top-flight.

Alan Shearer backs Tottenham to avoid relegation

Alan Shearer backs Tottenham Hotspur to avoid relegation, but cannot say so with any confidence right now following the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Shearer said: “I think they might just, I’ve not got confidence in it, but they may just have enough, but with what I’m seeing, I’m just saying that because of maybe the names in their squad rather than the ability.

“For too long, they haven’t performed. But I don’t know. Something is saying to me that they might just scrape it, but I’ve got no confidence with that at all.

The worry is that West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are both fighting tooth and nail for survival, unlike Spurs.

What are you doing with Igor Tudor if you are the Tottenham board after that Palace loss? đŸ˜«

During game week 29, West Ham won away at Fulham; meanwhile, Forest earned an impressive draw away at the Etihad Stadium.

Shearer added: “At least they’re (West Ham) fighting and scrapping. Forest went to City, as we said. At least those two teams, for their fans, are saying, ‘Well, if we’re going, guys, we’re going down with a fight’. But Spursy at the minute, you don’t see any of that, do you?”

Tottenham face Liverpool next in the Premier League before a hugely decisive clash against Nottingham Forest on March 22.

Gary Lineker stunned by Tottenham’s situation

Gary Lineker has been left stunned by Tottenham’s situation right now and thinks they are now in real danger of being relegated.

“I mean, talk about crisis, crisis of confidence, crisis of belief, just on and off the pitch. It just seems a bit of a mess,” Linker said.

“They brought in Tudor, obviously, three games, three defeats. I saw him in his press conference, and he just didn’t really seem to know what to say.

“I saw them ask him about a couple of the injuries, how they close certain players, and he just went, ‘I don’t know’.”

“Obviously, I’ve got an allegiance towards Tottenham. I’ve got a lot of Spurs friends, and they’re all aghast at the moment. There’s a real possibility that Spurs could be relegated.”
