Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank could opt for a move for a former youth academy product in Kyle Walker-Peters, according to reports - with the north London outfit needing homegrown players to bolster their ranks in terms of European registration rules in the summer transfer window.

Frank will get to work on a side that tasted silverware for the first time in 17 years following last month's 2-1 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final, although a poor domestic campaign saw Tottenham finish in 17th in the Premier League table - and he'll be keen to avenge that with new signings. But despite big names being touted for a move, Walker-Peters could be a smart move in any case.

Report: Tottenham Could Revisit Walker-Peters Move

The club are looking to back Thomas Frank this summer

The report by Football London states that Spurs will have to look at some 'smart options' to help their European push, alongside their main transfer targets in the summer window.

Frank left Brentford earlier in the month to join Tottenham after Ange Postecoglou was sacked, with the Dane moving to a side with European football - and specifically a place in the Champions League - after masterminding two top-half finishes with the Bees in his first four Premier League campaigns in north London.

However, he will have to bolster his squad in terms of homegrown rules, with clubs needing four players who were raised in their academy as part of registration rules - and with only backup stopper Brandon Austin boasting that from the club's squad at present, the report understands that they have considered a move later on in the window to bring Walker-Peters in as a free agent due to him meeting the criteria.

Walker-Peters, who was relegated with Southampton this season, made 24 appearances for Tottenham before joining the Saints - and with a further 126 top-flight appearances for the St. Mary's club, he could be vital in terms of cost and experience, especially having been labelled as 'extraordinary' by The Athletic.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Kyle Walker-Peters made two England caps in 2022.

The academy product is keen on a return to north London, and although Tottenham are set to focus on other key areas this summer, his arrival could be vital, where he would act as backup for Pedro Porro, Djed Spence and Archie Gray, who are all younger and established themselves further last season.
