Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence was substituted against Nottingham Forest by Thomas Frank, and Alasdair Gold spotted the right-back throwing his jacket on the ground, with the former Forest man not best pleased about being taken off.

Spurs manager Frank is under a bit of pressure at the north London club after an inconsistent start to the season, and some of the decisions he made during the game against Forest might not have helped his cause. Spurs conceded early on after a mistake at the back from Archie Gray, before Forest doubled their lead through Callum Hudson-Odoi.

After going three games unbeaten, the game against Sean Dyche's side was a real opportunity for them to continue some momentum, but they didn't show up at The City Ground.

Djed Spence Reaction After Tottenham Sub

According to journalist Alasdair Gold, Spence hurled his jacket to the ground after his substitution against Nottingham Forest, with Frank bringing on Ben Davies in his place.

Tottenham news account Spurs Army described the situation as an 'ugly moment', with Spence clearly unhappy at being substituted so early into the second half. It was a decision from Frank that might not have gone down too well with supporters, as well as Spence, as it's hardly an attacking alteration when they were 2-0 down.

Spence is undoubtedly a more attacking option than Davies from full-back, and although the former was carrying a knock in the first half, he clearly felt he was fine to continue given his reaction to the substitution.

Worrying Situation for Thomas Frank

Spence's reaction certainly wouldn't have gone down well with Frank, so it will be interesting to see if he makes a comment on the situation after the game. It's perhaps a sign that there is frustration in the dressing room at some of the manager's decisions, adding further pressure to Frank.

The result will be a major disappointment for the club, and it doesn't get any easier for them as they face Premier League champions Liverpool next week, who have started to pick up a bit of form after a difficult start to the campaign.
