Ally McCoist has revealed whether he believes Tottenham Hotspur have the tools to get out of their current relegation mess after being held to a 2-2 draw against Brighton.
The Spurs fans, players and Roberto De Zerbi thought that the Lilywhites had finally got the monkey off their back by winning their first league game in 2026 as the clock counted down to full-time against Brighton.
However, heartbreakingly for Tottenham, the Seagulls equalised deep into stoppage time, which has ensured that the North Londoners remain in the drop zone.
De Zerbi’s men now have just five league games to mount a great escape, and one pundit is not sure they have the capabilities to do so.
Ally McCoist sees no signs that Tottenham can pick up the wins they need
Ally McCoist fears that Tottenham are simply running out of matches to pick up the points they need to move out of the bottom three.
He pointed out that the Lilywhites’ relegation rivals are all picking up good results, and suggested that Spurs have shown few signs that they are capable of stringing wins together.
McCoist told talkSPORT Breakfast: “Tottenham are running out of games, and the teams around them are winning games, whether it’s Leeds or Forest.

“But the fact of the matter is that it is the second point Tottenham have taken in nine games; they haven’t won a league game this year. So what makes us think they’re going to pick up 10 out of 15 points?
“I know they might not have to if West Ham don’t pick up points, but they’re certainly going to need a vast improvement because Forest and Leeds keep picking up points.”
De Zerbi is confident of Spurs’ survival after performance against Brighton
Despite the heartbreak that Tottenham suffered at the end of Saturday’s clash, their new boss saw plenty of positives in their performance.
In fact, De Zerbi has asserted Spurs are capable of winning all five of their remaining matches if they play with the same spirit and mentality they showed against Brighton.
