Ally McCoist is impressed with who Tottenham are set to sign in the January transfer window.
Thomas Frank wants Tottenham to rope in quality this month as his side are struggling in 14th place in the Premier League.
They recently got knocked out of the FA Cup after losing to Aston Villa, meaning that the Champions League is their only chance of getting any silverware this season.
Change our mind: Tottenham must pay whatever it takes to SACK Thomas Frank…
Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling in agreement with new Spurs transfer
McCoist was in conversation with Jeff Stelling over Conor Gallagher’s move to North London.
Gallagher appears set to join Tottenham, and he could even make his debut for them against West Ham over the weekend.
Conor Gallagher has been linked with Spurs…😯
How can Thomas Frank get the best out of him?
McCoist believes that the England international would be an “excellent” signing for Spurs.
MORE SPURS STORIES
He is of the opinion that the 25-year-old would be a good fit at the club when the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are back from their injury layoffs.
McCoist said on talkSPORT: “Jeff [Stelling] and I were talking earlier and I think we’re both kind of in agreement that we think Connor Gallagher will be an excellent signing for Spurs particularly when they get their top players, when they get their players with creativity back, whether it’s Kulusevski, Maddison, I think Connor Gallagher could be a good fit in there.”
Why Conor Gallagher is a quality signing for Tottenham
While Gallagher may not add the same kind of creativity as Kulusevski or Maddison would, he most certainly will be a threat in the final third.
In his final season at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino, he was second among all the Blues players for assists and chances created.
This shows that his box-to-box tendencies will give Frank’s side an added dimension in attack, and that could help in their rise up the table.
He is also exceptional at breaking up play, recycling possession and getting stuck into tackles – doing all the dirty work for his team.
Gallagher has previous experience in the Premier League, so it will not take him long to adapt to the nature of the English top flight, and he could soon become a first-team regular for the Lilywhites.
