A jam-packed festive schedule kicks off in midweek as Ally McCoist and Darren Fletcher return with their latest Premier League predictions.

Newcastle United look to heap more trouble on Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park in Tuesday's standout game, while Manchester City aim to trim Arsenal's lead - for 24 hours, at least.

The Gunners then host Brentford on Wednesday, hoping to wipe out any inroads City have made. Chelsea are also in action, heading to Elland Road for what promises to be a lively meeting with Leeds United.

And there is also the rare treat of a Thursday night fixture as Manchester United, fresh from their comeback win over Crystal Palace, take on West Ham United.

Ally edged Fletch 4-3 in a tight Gameweek 13, narrowing the overall gap to nine points. Can he close it again?

Selected matches:

Newcastle v Spurs

Fletch: "Two inconsistent teams. Newcastle are better at home and Spurs are better away, so it's a difficult one to call.

"But I just feel like the rot has set in at Tottenham for now, so I'm going to go for Newcastle, on the back of them beating Everton and Man City."

Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Spurs

Ally: "I fancy Newcastle to continue the good run they are on. Brilliant result away at Everton at the weekend.

"But Tottenham? Dear me. What is going on?! Fans falling out with the players, fans falling out with the manager. They have to get back on track.

"However, I just can't see it here. They have not got a good record up at St James'. In their last three league games there, they've lost 12 goals and scored two. I can't see anything but another Newcastle victory."

Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Tottenham

Leeds v Chelsea

Fletch: "Chelsea are flying at the minute. If they can keep 11 on the pitch, they can win more games. That's a big challenge. The discipline's not great, but the football is fine.

"They will miss Moises Caicedo, but they will be too good for Leeds. I don't think Leeds have enough good players to stay in the Premier League - they've got a load of OK players, but they are not good enough against good Premier League teams."

Prediction: Leeds 0-1 Chelsea

Ally: "Leeds were a lot better at Manchester City, but I thought Chelsea were also excellent at home against Arsenal. I can see Chelsea sneaking a very close one."

Prediction: Leeds 1-2 Chelsea
