Tottenham suffered their 15th Premier League defeat of the season when they lost 2-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou accepted that his side had lost too many games so far this season, but also suggested his club were unfairly treated in comparison to others, when discussing Lucas Bergvall's penalty appeal.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admitted that his side’s performances this season were "unacceptable" after a 2-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday.

Spurs lost to two second-half goals in a display that saw the away side’s fans express their dissatisfaction with the team.

Mathys Tel, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window, had a heated exchange as he discussed the defeat with fans in the crowd after the match.

Postecoglou has had to negotiate a severe injury crisis throughout much of the season, but frustration has grown from some fans with the Australian’s approach to the match, as he again stuck to his attacking instincts despite playing teenage midfielders in central defence at times.

Speaking in a press conference on Sunday afternoon, Postecoglou said that he understood the supporters’ disappointment.

He said: "I get their disappointment. It's unacceptable to see 15 league defeats. It's nowhere near good enough, nowhere near the level we need to be, and I understand the supporters' frustrations with that.

"Today wasn't so much about performance, it was just another day when we let a game get away from us that we shouldn't have. We weren't played off the park and I felt that up until the point they scored, we were the team that was getting on top.

"We had a couple of good chances to go 1-0 up and that would have put the pressure on them, but it's happened too many times this year.

"We've given the opposition a lift into the game by conceding soft goals."

Another source of upset for Postecoglou was the failure of referee Andrew Madley to award a foul against Calvin Bassey, when he caught Lucas Bergvall in the Fulham penalty with the score at 1-0.

Postecoglou suggested that Tottenham do not get decisions as favourably as other clubs.

He added: "I'll leave that to the officials, but I will say that we don't carry on like a lot of other clubs and I think that hurts us for sure.

"I don't think there's ever any noise around us and decisions. We get one slightly in our favour and there's national headlines for a week. Things go against us and there's not even a sentence on it."
