Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest are plotting a raid on Tottenham for four first-team stars.
The former Tottenham manager has just taken charge at Nottingham Forest following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. While he will be inheriting the squad from the Portuguese manager, Postecoglou is expected to make significant additions to his team when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Australian manager will be looking for players who are better suited to his style of play, and according to the Daily Express via Fichajes, the Tricky Trees could look to sign up to four Tottenham stars upon the request of Postecoglou. They could push for the signature of Mathys Tel, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie and Radu Dragusin to give their new manager the balance he seeks on both ends of the pitch.
Postecoglou wants to raid Tottenham
Tel is a versatile young forward who has just secured a permanent move to Tottenham. While the North London club would be reluctant to sell him this early, the 20-year-old hasn’t had a prominent role under Thomas Frank, and he might be keen on reuniting with Postecoglou.
The Australian manager is also looking to add more experience to his backline and has his eyes set on Ben Davies. He is no longer a regular starter at Spurs, and with his contract running out, the Tricky Trees are pushing to sign the 32-year-old versatile defender.
Postecoglou seems keen on adding more quality at left-back. He wants an attack-minded full-back, and Destiny Udogie is quite high on his wishlist. The 22-year-old has massive potential, and he could prove to be a great long-term acquisition.
Meanwhile, Nottingham are also interested in Radu Dragusin, who is currently nursing a serious ligament injury. Since he is behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the pecking order, Postecoglou could try to lure him away with a more prominent role.
Can Nottingham get a deal done?
All four of them have qualities that could help the Europa League winner to better establish his style of play at Forest. However, it will be interesting to see if the Tricky Trees can strike a deal with Spurs. While signing someone like Ben Davies looks possible, the other three are young players who could have a massive future at the North London club.
