Tottenham supporters will be curious to see where Ange Postecoglou ends up after winning the UEFA Europa League.
Postecoglou was shown the door by Daniel Levy despite ending Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought in his second season.
Since his dismissal, speculation around Postecoglou’s return to management has been rampant.
After all, winning a trophy with Tottenham is no easy task, and some big clubs might now be taking a look at the Australian tactician.
Postecoglou could wait for a big offer from Europe
As reported by Sami Mokbel of BBC Sport (26 June), LAFC have enquired about Postecoglou, where the 59-year-old could coach former Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris.
MORE SPURS STORIES
The current LAFC manager, Steve Cherundolo, will return to Germany at the end of the season, which has forced the Hollywood club to scout his replacement.
At one point, there was speculation that Brentford could appoint Postecoglou to replace Thomas Frank, who Tottenham believed was the better fit.
However, there have been no concrete offers from within Europe, although Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes one might arrive soon.
“I think he should wait for a big European job,” Wenham said.
“I’d rather see him do that than join LAFC. I think he deserves that, he’s warranting of a prestigious European job. He worked so hard to get to the Premier League and this level.
“I’d much rather see him wait for a big job offer, which I’m sure will pop up for him soon.”
Frank has his work cut out for him
Oddly, Frank has big boots to fill despite Postecoglou leading Spurs to their worst-ever Premier League finish, as the Australian also delivered a trophy to Tottenham.
Therefore, despite their dismal domestic form last season, one could say that the standards at Tottenham are the highest they have been in years.
Postecoglou has left the club with the perfect springboard, and it could become tense if Frank fails to capitalise. Therefore, it may be that nothing less than a fourth-place finish or another trophy win would be accepted by the fans.
