Ange Postecoglou in running for Premier League job as announcement made
Ange Postecoglou could return to the Premier League in the summer.
Ever since Postecoglou got sacked by Tottenham, he has been on one hell of a managerial ride.
Within months, he won the Europa League with Spurs, faced the sack, was handed a lifeline by Nottingham Forest, only to then go and get himself sacked once again after a dreadful run of form.
However, Premier League opportunities may still come for the Aussie, with him being in the running for a job ahead of the next campaign.
Another big-six Premier League club could take a chance on Ange Postecoglou
Thomas Frank is still under immense pressure at Tottenham, with a high likelihood that he will face the sack if results don’t improve, especially at home.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Spurs have won just two of their 10 Premier League encounters at home this season.
However, if he is to exit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s unlikely that he will be replaced by Postecoglou.
With that said, the Australian could be handed a lifeline by Manchester United, with Postecoglou priced at a steep 66/1 to take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
The Red Devils are without a permanent manager since the sacking of Ruben Amorim, with Michael Carrick announced as their interim boss on Tuesday.
It would be a shock appointment, but given the decisions made by chiefs at Man United over the years, it can’t be ruled out entirely.
Is Postecoglou likely to return to Premier League?
After two failed stints in England, you would think you’d be safe to assume that Postecoglou would have no interest in coming back for a third time.
However, as every Tottenham fan will know, his ego will almost certainly draw him back to the Premier League, but perhaps not at a club like Man United.
The pressure at Old Trafford is arguably stronger than anywhere else, and he would be deemed a failure before he’s even got started.
However, a return to England may not be ruled out, with Postecoglou having been a candidate for a Championship job.
A low-pressure environment may be what he needs to thrive in this country.
