Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall were two of the standout Tottenham Hotspur players during the 5-3 defeat to PSG and the young Englishman has revealed why they play so well together.
It is not easy to feel positive about Tottenham Hotspur, with nine goals conceded and two defeats already suffered after the international break.
However, Spurs were much improved against PSG and fans were particularly impressed by Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, both of whom were unlucky to be on the losing team.
The teenage duo helped Tottenham to be braver and show attacking intent. They even combined on the left wing in the build up to the opening goal which was headed in by Richarlison.
Archie Gray shares the key element behind his relationship with Lucas Bergvall at Tottenham
Playing well together on the pitch can often stem from a positive relationship off the field and this is certainly the case with Gray and Bergvall.
According to Gray, the trust the pair have for each other is a key reason they thrive when played alongside each other.
He told Football London: “Me and Lucas are really close. Every time we’re on the pitch together, we just trust each other 100 per cent.
MORE SPURS STORIES
“Even if there is pressure on us, we know we can play to each other and we can handle that pressure. We’re really close on the pitch and off the pitch as well.”
Thomas Frank must start Gray more often
Gray came close to registering his name on the scoresheet when he struck the woodwork against PSG and his overall play was a step in the right direction.
Starting he and Bergvall together worked well and so Thomas Frank should consider playing them as a pair in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Fulham.
Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur were both disappointing on Wednesday, so it makes perfect sense to award both Gray and Bergvall with another start.
